Man, song-writing of such level. Staying in a studio can never have such life experience to write such lyrics. Amazing. Sinastra really was on top of the world not just in his era.
Frank Sinatra was one of the best "crooners" from this era. Fun Fact: Crooner is a term used for artists that began to change the way songs were sang and delivered. They were primarily male and performed in a smooth style and with a much wider range of frequency in their vocal delivery and this was made possible by better microphones. As always technology plays a key role in cultural change and in this case, it brought about a completely new genre of music, at the time. Here's another crooner from the same era "Bing Crosby - Papa Loves Mambo (1955)" and "Perry Como - For The Good Times (The Royal Variety Performance - 1974)" I enjoyed your reaction, this song brought back some lovely memories, thanks for sharing 🎶
My favorite Frank song. Most people love My Way. After my mom passed in 2009 this song helped me smile again! He was sooo snazzy! PS check out Fly Me to the Moon (sooo good) the man was swaggalicious before there was a word for it. Maybe swagger.
You always makes me in such a good mood! Just how you stop after 2 secs and says you know it is gonna be something great makes me happy! Thanks for sharing, love your reviews, mate :-)
I'm Gen-X but I was raised by my Grandfather who was a Big Band Leader & this is the music I grew up on. I'm extremely grateful to my Grandpa for giving me the experience of the legends.
Im a baby-boomer, raised in the 60s/70s. Thanks to my parents love of music, I have a very eclectic taste in music. It's so refreshing to see younger generations checking out music that was created before their time. ❤
He’s got some great deep songs he did -“willow weep for me”, “Bonita”, so many! Love his album with Antonio Carlos Jobim! “Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars” is amazing too!!
Whenever I hear him it reminds me of my mam. We saw him at the Royal Albert Hall in London in early 80’s. It was amazing! She had original albums of his from late 50’s early 60’s & I grew up listening to him. Great reaction to a classic crooner, thanks for the memories 😊
Hey Jovaughn! I’d love for you to hear some of Sinatra’s early work with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, like “Fools Rush In” or “Polka Dots and Moonbeams”! I love that era for him.
Nobody like Frank, ever!!!! You should listen to his first recording, made in 1939 when he was 23 -- All Or Nothing At All by Harry James Band featuring Frank Sinatra. One of my favorites is I've Got The World On A String from 1953, the first song he recorded for Capitol Records which marked the beginning of a new & swinging era for Sinatra. So very, very many fabulous songs on the Capitol label!!! If you want to hear lyrics you'd never expect to hear from Frank, listen to Satisfy Me, from 1974. Oh, & BTW - the more you listen, the more you'll love his music. PS. One of the best duets you'll ever hear is Frank with Ella Fitzgerald swinging The Lady Is A Tramp. Frank's solo version of that song, from the movie, Pal Joey, is considered to be one of the greatest musical performances in film history!!!!! Listen & enjoy!!!!!
I love Frank Sinatra-my Grandfather played his music and it’s very special to me. They don’t make songs like this anymore! I love “All the Way” by him-give it a listen :)
2024 and I found you again. Loved your channel got us thru covid. Love love Frank Sinatra and this song. Brings me back to Brooklyn 1960s and my Mom was a so crazy about ol blue eyes. As was the entire world
The story with this song was that a fellow that had produced hits for several other singers was directing the recording. Sinatra sung that song in a cool kind of way and asked the young fellow if that was his hit song. He told Sinatra that it just didn't add up. Sinatra got upset and then recorded this take. He belted it out and made sure he got the take then walked right out the door still in a huff.
If I had to guess when the first time I heard Frank was, I’d have to say in the womb. His music is woven into my childhood and my family since before I was born. It brings me so much joy to see someone who is t familiar love it just as much. Thank you!
Jay, great to see you back. I've missed you. For a rec, why not check out the best Scottish rock band - The Jesus & Mary Chain. 'Happy when it rains' would be my pick. Stay well, bud!
I love Mr. Sinatra's voice as well, it pulls me in every time. Sinatra was quite the interesting character as well. Word has it that he met with Mia Farrow, and offered to get a couple of guys to show Woody Allen the error(s) of his ways. Ms Farrow thanked Sinatra for his support, and for the offer, but she declined. One interesting story amongst many about the man.
My soon to be ex told me about the time he saw Mr. Sinatra with his father. His siblings bought tickets to see Frank, but his mom couldn't go, so he went instead. His father told him to go get 'dressed', and it was the 1st concert he went to wearing a dress shirt & tie. He found he was 'under dressed'; men had tuxedos on and women wearing gowns getting out limousines, lol. Frank came on, and the crowd went crazy. Then Frank held up his hand, and total silence fell upon the Philadelphia Spectrum. He said it was such great moment to be with his pop and hearing Sinatra singing live. Frank is the man!!! My daughter would sing this when she was in her car seat 😊. Nice review as always fellow 7/17 baby!
They don't make them like they used to. Frank Sinatra was such a smooth crooner. This is before auto tuning. Artists had to be really able to sing. And the lyrics were clean, romantic & really meant something. He has a huge library of great songs. Some of my favorites are "My Way", "New York, New York", "Strangers In The Night", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "My Kind Of Town", "Summer Wind" etc.
Jay, have you ever reacted to Frank's favourite singer, Tony Bennett? He's an incredible song stylist. Check out - The Good Life, Yesterday I Heard the Rain or Cold, Cold Heart.
I also think you should react to Tony Bennett, Frank's favorite singer, he called him "the best in the business". "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" was his biggest hit. My favorite is the jazzier "The Best Is Yet To Come" off the same album.
Hi so good to see you! Have you ever reacted to Blues...like BB King. "The thrill is gone"..if not please pick anything from him you won't be disappointed
