This was one of the first cd's I owned along with Daft Punk's "Discovery", I was in the 5th grade, both are still up there as my favorite albums of all time
the whole Gorillaz album is one of my all time favs. I listened to it non stop when it came out and still have most of the songs in my most played playlist. I would recommend you listening to it from start to finish :) I remember running in to the store on vacation to get this album. It was like a secrete treasure, coz so few had found it at that time.
True! His discography is spotless. He did not even know the song blew up before someone on the streets told him it was being hella played on the radio. His verses on this song is so perfectly late 90`s early 2000`s rap. Genius
@@ajtct98 When I was a kid a thought it was Yul Brynner from the Magnificent Seven... And years later, watching the music video for the first time in my life on UA-cam (just had some old tv memories), and hearing the windmill at the beginning, I instantly recognized the sample from the opening of Once Upon a Time in the West, and learned that it was on purpose, this made me happy as it's my favorite movie.
I’d recommend reacting to these songs: Where Did You Sleep Last Night - Nirvana MTV Unplugged The Man Who Sold The World - Nirvana MTV Unplugged The Times They Are A Changing - Bob Dylan
That second song is a David Bowie cover of you didn't know. You Know You're Right is another solid Nirvana song from their black album. (Greatest hits)
@@chrisfrench9257 Didn’t know that “The Man Who Sold The World” was by David Bowie even though he mentioned it’s a cover of him at the start of the song during Unplugged. And I learned of “You Know You’re Right” during an interview with Dave Grohl and he said it’s the only song he can’t listen to as they did it right before Kurt “died”. One of my favourites, along with “Rape Me”.
Del is the most underrated rapper. i went to his show where he did the full album 'no need for alarm' and he surprised us with songs from a new album that wasn't released yet called 'future development.' i remember getting goosebumps when the bass kicked in when he was rapping 'catch a bad one'
@@nessaseetah1805 Depending on what line of the political divide you stand on, you either consider this "true" today or "true" in the months following Minneapolis - and, after a couple months passes, it's going to be like none of it even happened, and you're going to be bitching about whatever the 'team' that isn't yours is doing to prevent whatever world saving bill from passing/trying to push through a world destroying bill/etc. And, round and round the political merry-go-round goes...
So, as I remember, Russel (the drums guy), is frequently possessed by ghosts since he was 10 years. Noodles is a japanese child/robot used in wars i guess, but 2-D bought her to play the eletric guitar in the band. Murdoc loses his soul to a demon to be famous (that's why in some clips, his skin is green, like a dead body). And 2-D's story is a long story with Murdoc. I hope this video can help (I didn't watch yet!!): ua-cam.com/video/EAXWR7umFvY/v-deo.html I can't remember the whole story, but these are the strange and paranormal things that the characters of the band have. (And aparently you need to have some paranormal stuff to enter in the band lol)
no, noodle was used to train in Japan with many other kids, but then they had to kill all the kids except for Noodle. they sent her to the UK in a FedEx package. That’s how 2-D, Murdoc and Russel found her. She was playing the guitar with them untill she “died” and disappeared. Thats how the robot version of her was created. In “Rhinestones eyes” she comes back, they realise that she’s alive and they get rid of the robot, if im not wrong
Yep, Damon Albarn is the one musician/singer, and he just pulls guests in to join him for each song. In this one, the rapper is Del The Funky Homosapien, who's been an underground rapper since the late 80s. Damon also has a partner, Jamie Hewlett, who does all the art and animation for the videos, concerts, merch, etc. (Fun side fact: Damon is also the lead singer and writer for the rock band Blur, which is where he started before deciding to make Gorillaz as a side project.)
I think we really underestimate the animation in their videos for their time. They definitely got inspiration from Japanese anime and probably Cartoon Network haha. You would think this was a video snippet taken from an anime of today!
I screamed when I saw the thumbnail lol Gorillaz is Damon Albarn (musician, from Blur) and Jamie Hewlett (illustrator). They have collaborated with tons of musicians, that's what makes their sound kinda hard to define I think.
Gorillaz got two masterminds behind it, one is working on the music and the other one on the design of the band members and the world they live in (also the video clips) and they collab with many artists
I have had music fest with you all night and ended with this song. Brilliant song. You are the kind of Disc jockey i like. Enjoyed myself, thank you for the very intelligent views of the music.
Yes, the creator of all of the music is Damon Albarn, He has some guests, but He does everything related to music. The first band of Damon is Blur ( a really well known indie band of the 90s from Uk) then also He has another band : The good the bad and the queen. The creator of visuals is Jamie.
@@OGT4204 Souls of Mischief got me into that whole crew. They were one of the 1st West coast groups that sounded more east coast and rapped a lil faster. Along with Tha Alkaholiks and Pharcyde.
I like how all the processing goes dry for that split second and Del says " ...cuz it's all in your head" A good song from Del to listen to today is VIRUS on the Deltron 3030 Album.
Gorillaz is like a chemistry lab run by a crazy genius who invites random ppl with sometimes crazy ideas and lets them try out everything, then mixes everything together in a crazy genius way and there you have it... ART.
Sticking with the Clint Eastwood theme check out their track Dirty Harry. Also Check out the band Blur (not an animated band). Blur were a band in the 90's with Damon Albarn as the lead singer he was also the lead singer in The Gorillaz. Try Country House, Park Life or Woo Hoo
You probably already know they're "Blur's" alter-animated ego. Blur was a fairly big band in the 90's, kind of like Oasis's rival band. They had feuds and everything. You want to listen to a one of Blur's classics check out the album with the band name's title. I still listen to it to this day.
This band is epic,it is a very deep rabbit hole ,that started in 2000, there are websites, comics, video shorts, documentaries, and TONS of collaborators from Ike Turner, to the clash, to Nene Cherry, celebrity cameos in the videos, have fun, you'll be occupied for weeks 🥰
The Rapper in this song is Del The Funky Homosaphien aka Deltron, who is the first cousin of Ice Cube and is on a whole other Planet with his raps. Check out some of his solo work like Mr. Bob Dobollina
You should also check out The Streets - Everything Is Borrowed, or Dry Your Eyes, or Let's Push Things Forward! I love this period of music here in the UK
So I watched the beginning of this video and recognized that harmonica from old western movies... guess that is why it's called Clint Eastwood??!! very cool
I know people have commented a lot already, but Daman Albarn from Blur is the main guy, but this album would not have been what it was without Del the Funky Homosapien, who I was listening to in the early 1990's, and who without a doubt is one of the sharpest, most intellectual rappers in the game. Albarn also had two people from Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club, one of the most important New Wave/Art Punk bands of the 1970's and 80's. Demon Days pulled in Danger Mouse, Nenah Cherry and De La Soul. This constant stream of hip hop and Brit Pop talent has allowed them to do some really amazing pieces.
(And this is a great one to illustrate how important it is to play the song until the artist says it's over instead of hitting pause before the artist is finished.)
That initial “ahh-ahh-ahhhhhh-ahhhhhhh” puts me in mind of all the bedrooms I smoked weed in in the early 00s lmaooo. this is part of the soundtrack of older millennials’ high school and college-age years
The guy singing is Damon Albarn the front man of Blur who along with Oasis were the prominent part of the Britpop era and them and Oasis were huge rivals. My fave Gorilaz song is Dare def recommend that and then get Blurs back catalogue checked out ... Song 2, Parklife, Tender, End of The Century...the list goes on but Gorilaz is so different to what Damon is otherwise famous for!!
It,s me again ,going back to 80s I recommend you mr mister broken wings live at the ritz 1985 and the taylor dayne love will lead you back official video 2 great song from the 80s their voices will blow your mind
The entire concept was so well judged, timed and executed. The British tabloids tried to portray it as an artificial sterile thing because of the whole "virtual band" tag which was ridiculous because it's exquisitely well crafted and produced. Then the multi media aspect just takes it to another level entirely and couldn't have been better timed with the transition toward online content consumption. Broke down some walls in regards to "experimental" hip hop too. Between acts like Goillaz and Unkle and some others, the relatively narrow confines of the genre were pushed back for good. And that was just the first single! There's loads of different genres mixed together on the album. I remember people just losing their minds about some British white indie singer working with Dan the automator and Del etc. they just couldn't get their heads around the idea of two such different cultures clashing. They were convinced it was going to be cringe and out of touch and lacking authenticity but clearly that wasn't the case. Hip hop is a lot more liberated these days without having to have words like "crossover" or "experimental" tagged onto it. Interesting trivia: Blur guitarist Graham Coxon was initially friends with artist Jamie Hewlett before Damon and they actually discussed a collaborative project involving music and cartoons so in a way, Graham is deeply rooted in the genesis of Gorillaz.
I was 16 when that track dropped and it became an instant classic for my friends and me. It played everywhere, all the time. What a fucking bomb of a song. I also just realized that Gorillaz and especially this track musically marks the turn of the century/millennium for me. That sound and explicitly the style wasn't possible like two-three years earlier. (Speaking as a German/ European) It ended the height of Eurodance and Techno, 90s rock and other highly consumed genres at that time and led the way for newer incarnations of those genres. While the Gorillaz (Damon Albarn) were clearly heavily influenced by (90s) bands like Massive Attack and Portishead, there was also a coolness-factor attached to the the sound that had only emerged after 2000. You really can't praise Damon Albarn enough for giving that new vibe in town the appropriate music. It's astounding that his (and Blur's) creativity went from (great) songs like "Girls and Boys" or "The Universal" to "Clint Eastwood" only in a matter of a couple of years. Yeah... Thanks again Jovaughn for reacting to this masterpiece! You're absolutely killing it lately! 😎
The lead singer of british group Blur Damon Albarn created this animated band .Feel good and Dare are awesome ones .Blur did some good songs the most well known is PARKLIFE! 😁
band is 2 dudes, the one who makes the music and the guy who animates but they work together on it all. There's a lot to it you should really check our their story :D
A friend of mine was best man at jamie hewletts wedding, i remember him telling me that jamie and graham coxon had a falling out over a girl and when damon started gorillaz it upset graham and maybe thats why he left blur, but i can't find anything to back that up so take it with a pinch of salt
Wow did this one so long ago and forgot. It was blocked in almost every country at first so now enjoy.
Perfect, what a song!! 😍
I love you Jovaughn but I wish you would play more music like you used to😔

This was one of the first cd's I owned along with Daft Punk's "Discovery", I was in the 5th grade, both are still up there as my favorite albums of all time
the whole Gorillaz album is one of my all time favs. I listened to it non stop when it came out and still have most of the songs in my most played playlist. I would recommend you listening to it from start to finish :) I remember running in to the store on vacation to get this album. It was like a secrete treasure, coz so few had found it at that time.
More Gorillaz! Try Dare next.
And also, you should react to Damon Albarn's previous band, Blur ;)
“Stylo”, “Dirty Harry”, and “Dare”, please. 💜
Or "Demon Days" "El Manana"
@@jesusevisconti8898 Actually, I’d really love to see “Rhinestone Eyes” or just the entirety of “Plastic Beach”.
I love Dirty Harry
It's Dare!
Wow! I didn’t realized how talented this band was! I think I didn’t pay much attention back then! They are Awesome!! Thank you Jay!!❤️
The rapper is Del The Funky Homersapien , a legend in his own right. Daimian Albarn (singer and creator) just collabs with different artists.
The lead singer is Damon Albarn who is the lead singer from Blur. He is an English singer/songwriter.
The rapper is Del tha Funky Homosapien, cousin of Ice Cube.
Also raps under Deltron 3030. I think he is fantastic.
@@lexilouwho8200 top 5 lyricist all time
Listen to magnatizing from handsome boy modeling school.
Mistadobalina
Wow wtf i didn't know he was Ice Cubes cousin :O
Love Gorillaz! They are multiple people!
Del the Funky Homosapien's stuff is also fantastic. Smart lyricist and person. You'd like his work.
True! His discography is spotless. He did not even know the song blew up before someone on the streets told him it was being hella played on the radio. His verses on this song is so perfectly late 90`s early 2000`s rap. Genius
He's the reason I checked out Gorillaz back in the day.
Genius record.
Hiero! 3rd eye vision!
This is one of those bands I miss hearing. And Blur. And Weezer. And a little different, but Midnight Oil!
How can we sleep...
@@garryiglesias4074 I think the fact your bed is burning might be the issue
@@ajtct98 When I was a kid a thought it was Yul Brynner from the Magnificent Seven... And years later, watching the music video for the first time in my life on UA-cam (just had some old tv memories), and hearing the windmill at the beginning, I instantly recognized the sample from the opening of Once Upon a Time in the West, and learned that it was on purpose, this made me happy as it's my favorite movie.
WEEZER NEXT
This is Damon Albarn of Blur, my favourite 90s band 👍
I’d recommend reacting to these songs:
Where Did You Sleep Last Night - Nirvana MTV Unplugged
The Man Who Sold The World - Nirvana MTV Unplugged
The Times They Are A Changing - Bob Dylan
Gorillaz are amazing. Great review
"So you can survive when law is lawless."
Too dope!
How today.
Grrr.
this track is a fucking classic. amazing
This is was an absolutely success in earlys of 2000 decade !!
I got one word - dope.
And that's how I felt when I first saw this back in the day when M-TV still had videos, at least in Europe.
I hope this video can help (I didn't watch yet!!):
ua-cam.com/video/EAXWR7umFvY/v-deo.html
I can't remember the whole story, but these are the strange and paranormal things that the characters of the band have.
Try Blur Song 2. That’s who created Gorillaz. Love your videos. Been sharing them all over the UK.
They are a 'virtual band' so they only have two regs (including the artist) and everyone else rotates.
I could listen to this one on repeat! One of my absolute favorites!
My son loves Gorillaz and my granddaughter was singing this when she was four!
You gotta react to Dirty Harry by The Gorillaz next!
and DARE!
@@Filbi desole and trnz!
Yes!
I think we really underestimate the animation in their videos for their time. They definitely got inspiration from Japanese anime and probably Cartoon Network haha. You would think this was a video snippet taken from an anime of today!
Good reaction bro
Dare! is my favourite song by them, so clever and catchy. Love me some Gorillaz
I screamed when I saw the thumbnail lol Gorillaz is Damon Albarn (musician, from Blur) and Jamie Hewlett (illustrator). They have collaborated with tons of musicians, that's what makes their sound kinda hard to define I think.
Think Alex from Blur went with Damon too
I was about to say that 👍👍👍
Thanks!!! Love this song - My favorite line 'It's all in your head'
I love Clint Eastwood the actor/director hes a legend
Gorillaz got two masterminds behind it, one is working on the music and the other one on the design of the band members and the world they live in (also the video clips) and they collab with many artists
I have had music fest with you all night and ended with this song. Brilliant song. You are the kind of Disc jockey i like. Enjoyed myself, thank you for the very intelligent views of the music.
I feel High JUST LISTENING to the non rapping parts of this song 😂😂😂😂 this is so psychedelic
Yes, the creator of all of the music is Damon Albarn, He has some guests, but He does everything related to music. The first band of Damon is Blur ( a really well known indie band of the 90s from Uk) then also He has another band : The good the bad and the queen. The creator of visuals is Jamie.
Del The Funkee Homosapien
is the one rapping on this. Check his song: "Catch A Bad One". It was an official video/single release from the 90's
Also hieroglyphics-at the helm. That song will always be amazing
@@OGT4204 Souls of Mischief got me into that whole crew. They were one of the 1st West coast groups that sounded more east coast and rapped a lil faster. Along with Tha Alkaholiks and Pharcyde.
What you said is just right... One founding member and so much talent joining in...
I like how all the processing goes dry for that split second and Del says " ...cuz it's all in your head"
A good song from Del to listen to today is VIRUS on the Deltron 3030 Album.
Gorillaz is like a chemistry lab run by a crazy genius who invites random ppl with sometimes crazy ideas and lets them try out everything, then mixes everything together in a crazy genius way and there you have it... ART.
My 23 yr old son turned me on to the Gorillaz a few years back
Love them
Yep British virtual band
React to "Song 2" Blur. Their lead singer Damon Albarn is also the lead voice of Gorillaz.
every single song from them is a new experience. I am a gorillaz fan since forever and they are really a new quality in music like all the time...
Nobody ever seems to notice 2Ds shirt says T Virus, which is what created the zombies in Resident Evil.
AWSOME SONG! 💪🏼
One of the bands my kids grew up with ..my 22 year old loves them still..
Didn't have my glasses on, glanced at this and thought it was Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult! Lol. Loved this! Never heard it before.
Just to say I love the variety of music you play, best wishes for your excellent site!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Great group
Right Said Fred - Don't Talk Just Kiss
Rhinestone Eyes or Dare please. Incredible group.
You probably already know they're "Blur's" alter-animated ego. Blur was a fairly big band in the 90's, kind of like Oasis's rival band. They had feuds and everything. You want to listen to a one of Blur's classics check out the album with the band name's title. I still listen to it to this day.
The latest album is like a genre whirlwind. They hit across all types of music.
This is one of my favorite songs
Did you react Blur "Song 2?"
Yeahhhh I love "Melancholy Hill"
What a awesome band. Love them. Peace.
My daughter who is 16 has just found the gorillaz and has literally fell in love !
You should absolutely check out "Stylo" for another Gorillaz pick!
Love that song! ❤
"Dare" is an amazing video!
Yeah, they have some cool stuff
Gorillaz is Damon Alburn. He is also the leader of the band Blur. Blur are competitors of Oasis.
(And this is a great one to illustrate how important it is to play the song until the artist says it's over instead of hitting pause before the artist is finished.)
Man jay, I can't believe I'm over hear dancing to a cartoon. 👍👍♥️. Good pick jay 💞💞💞
That initial “ahh-ahh-ahhhhhh-ahhhhhhh” puts me in mind of all the bedrooms I smoked weed in in the early 00s lmaooo. this is part of the soundtrack of older millennials’ high school and college-age years
I remember this band when they first released their album their awesome
The guy singing is Damon Albarn the front man of Blur who along with Oasis were the prominent part of the Britpop era and them and Oasis were huge rivals. My fave Gorilaz song is Dare def recommend that and then get Blurs back catalogue checked out ... Song 2, Parklife, Tender, End of The Century...the list goes on but Gorilaz is so different to what Damon is otherwise famous for!!
PS note the Thriller routine in this video!
"IT'S ALL IN YOUR HEAD"
Your face 💯💯💯
Singer is Damon Albarn from Blur. Rapper is Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.
My favourite song of Gorillaz
These guys are great. Every. Time.
The combination of music and animation is genius...
you should 100% check out their glastonbury performance of this song where snoop dog did the rapping, one of the best live performances i’ve ever seen
Love this song
