I grew up in the south.. I've never done a low-fat diet lol.
I guess that's why it's been much easier for me to transition to keto. We put bacon grease and butter on everything and salad dressing. Problem is I used to eat lots of sugar and carbs too so that kind of made a mess.

carbs aren't the lone problem. Mix of high fat and high carb is just too much energy for the average person. Eat plenty of protein and adjust energy macros as needed (high fat/low carb, vice versa, or moderate both)

@@seansilva_1996 very very true. I have watched plenty of speakers on UA-cam who say there are people in the world that eat mostly carbs and very little fat and they are very healthy. Island people they have studied?
Of course my problem was I was eating both. Not even a lot of both. People call me bird seed because I don't eat that much. But the combination is deadly. It's just much easier for me to cut the carbs and sugar than it is to cut the fat. I have no interest in cutting fat lol.

It's all very complicated you have the low fat high carb folks like Dr. McDougal and Dr. Esselstyn who have thousands of success stories and then the Keto high fat low carb side with the same result. I personally had great progress with a WFPB diet and lost 80 Lbs and have maintained my weight for three years now and all my bloodwork is optimal. I would say that there is a difference in whole food carbohydrates and refined carbohydrates. Most people just say " carbohydrates" without separating those two. Thanks for the video.

      The correlation is energy balance.
You're right, there's success stories everywhere. Health improves when you lose body fat, regardless of how that's achieved.
The best diet is the one you'll do for a lifetime, not a few weeks or months.
There's really no need to restrict any food groups for fat loss.
Professional athletes from all sports and bodybuilders consume a balanced diet and are doing pretty good.
Sure, for the 0.1% with insulin issues, keto may well be the way to go. But for the rest of us... Enjoy it all in moderation.

Even intense exercise is no guarantee of weight loss. I did an intensive bike ride (not tour de France, but still), 1200km (800 miles) in 100 hours total (so 4 days). At the end of it I was actually 5kg heavier due to oedema, but when that settled down after a few days, I was within a 100g of my starting weight. I think there's a disconnect between what we think of as exercise (a 'leisure' activity for most people) in the modern world. When I was working in construction around 15 years ago my diet was terrible (pizza, pringles and beer) and I could not put weight on. I was active 8 hours a day, but the job meant it was almost HIIT style activity. Periods of intense effort and periods of just walking around, 8 hours a day.

You are really badly informed. You really think most of humans throughout history have been carnivore? Where did you get that information? Most people throughout history ate largely plant foods, primarily starches, like potatoes, rice, wheat etc. without them, we would have died out long ago - only in extreme cases where people had no or really limited access to plant foods (e.g. the inuit) did people eat a carnivore diet (and even then, they could only survive by also eating organ meats, otherwise they would have died because of vitamin deficiencies, because meat doesn’t have all the nutrients human need)
Otherwise, people have been on ketosis when they were starving, aka not eating food (aka no carbs at all), but they were not carnivore

And if you truly knew something about low-fat diets, you would know that nobody eats a salad without a dressing on this diet…there are plenty low/moderate-fat dressings you can enjoy on this diet, e.g. if you use avocado, hummus or nut butters sparingly as ingredients

I have to disagree with the blanket statement that moderate exercise doesn't cause significant weight loss. Just like we have individual responses to different nutrient plans, and different abilities to metabolize sugar or carbs, I believe that different metabolisms react differently to exercise. I personally find it very difficult to lose any weight without exercising. On the flip side, even moderate exercise really ramps up my weight loss. Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but It's definitely my reality.

I used to be hungry a lot of times, but now being hungry. is something from the past :) I just have 1 question about insulin.
If you eat your insulin goes up. My question is. Is there a difference in the amount of insulin? For example: I eat 5 keto cookies in 5 minutes or I eat the same 5 keto cookies in 1 hour. Does the amount of insulin that goes up remain the same? TY 🙂 Keep up the amazing work you 2 do and wishing you a wonderful 2021 from Belgium :)

Is it something I need to have checked out with a Dr if I am having blood sugar in the 60's when fasting and barely into the 90's after a meal. I tried to find info on low blood sugar with you two, Dr Mindy Peltz, Dr Barry and Dr Berg. Most have info on high blood sugar, and Dr Berg's still assumed one is still eating sugar. I think one of the main barriers to acceptance of keto is/was the link between high ( saturated) fat diets and heart disease - given other (poly/mono unsaturated) fats also have their own "issues". It is still weird ( that is the best way I can describe it) to think that eating saturated fat does not result in a bulld up of body fat ( subject to staying within your calorie requirements) and clogging of the arteries - unfortunately it is a "model" (eat fat - get fat) that is simple, elegant and wrong ( well, if the more recent evidence on the lack of a link is to be believed). I'm afraid I still hedge my bets and generally follow a low(ish) carb (probably 20 - 50 gms/day) diet, rather than pure keto - it seems to work OK.

The key is finding what works for your body and what makes you look and feel your best. What works for one person may not work for another person. We do not all fit into a box so to say dont eat this or eat that, well, my gut lets me know it does not like whole grains. We must listen to our bodies cues. @Slimmerlife - Weight Loss ExpertsNope. You are 100% wrong. The whole Ketogenic lifestyle os based around the fact that that they got it wrong when they said fat is bad for you and have been too scared to admit that ever since but there is plenty of scientific evidence now to prove it. What is incredibly bad for you is low fat foods and sugar. Sugar is a toxin to the body and one day it will be a controlled substance just like tobacco. People used to say tobacco was good for you, then not too bad for you, then it kills you.

    • @EchoRomeIndiaCharlie

@Slimmerlife - Weight Loss Experts Sugar is toxic and what has turned human beings from healthy to sick and obese in just a few years.
That and all the modern techniques that we've adopted. Vegetable oils and wheat, processed foods, artificial sweeteners, sugar alcohols, dried fruits and fruit juices (concentrated sugar) cereals and all low fat foods since they all full of sugar. I eat butter by the (UK) block and coconut oil by the chunk in my coffee. I eat green veg daily. In four years on a Ketogenic high fat low carb medium protein diet my cholesterol went down enough to come off statins, my BP dropped so much I have stopped taking 4 different BP meds, my acid reflux is gone, (and the tablets I had to take are gone) and I lost 5 stone in weight. I reversed pre diabetes and a fatty liver disease. My doctor wanted to know "what the hell did I do? " When I told him he said no that's impossible, what did I really do? Doctors, government nutritionists, health consultants all get their dietry advice from the government. They just go to the PC and print out the same low fat high carb high sugar advice that they've been told to give out.
Bearing that in mind you may understand why I get a little rattled when people promote low fat, which I believe is killing people.
These are my own beliefs for me. Im not trying to convert anyone, but I have to admit that when I see people who can barely move, I really want to help them, really want to tell them, but nobody believes. They tell you all that fat you eat will go into your arteries and kill you (that's not how it works).
I don't follow blindly. I look at all the independent research papers and make my mind up from research, not from youtubers although they can be entertaining and fun to watch.

"Only intense activity will burn enough calories to result in weight loss"
By far the most idiotic and dangerous statement I've heard spouted on UA-cam.
A brisk 60 minute walk will burn hundreds of calories, even in the smallest of individual.
If you're maintaining weight and introduce regular walking into your lifestyle, you WILL lose weight. You certainly will burn more calories with more intense and longer duration exercise. But it's far from essential for weight loss.

Given that a pound of fat is roughly 3500 calories, “hundreds” isn’t much sir. Sources vary, with a range of reported calories burned in an hour of walking from 200-600. So let’s take that max, 600. It would take nearly 6 hours of walking for ONE pound of fat. And even then that only counts if your body is fully adapted to burning fat, which nearly none of us have.
Weight loss MUST rely on restricted consumption, period.

@@rockhopper01 You don't go for ONE walk.
Using your own maths. 600 calories per 1 hour walk x365 days = 219,000. Divide that by 3500... There's 62.5lbs in a year.
Rome wasn't built in a day.
But whatever... You keep sitting on that couch eating your pork rind and blaming "hormones" for why you're fat.
