    Mazda CX-90 vs Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Review here:
    • 2024 Mazda CX90 PHEV ...
    The new second generation Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is all new and now with a standard third row of seats. The PHEV is now equipped with a larger 20 kWh battery allowing EV only driving for 61 kms although many including myself have attained higher mileage depending on driving conditions, speed and outside temperature. To maximize EV range and increase overall efficiency the new 2024 Outlander PHEV is equipped with a standard heat pump as well as standard Level 3 DC Fast Charging capabilities.
    The Outlander PHEV is very well equipped and offers a lot of value especially if you live in an area where it qualifies for government EV rebates. When you factor in those discounts and the amount of premium features like HUD, quilted leather seats, massage, Bose stereo, pano roof and much more, the Outlander PHEV is really hard to beat especially when you compare it to the competition.

    Good review, appreciate the video! Another good use of Charge is if you leave an urban area with no or low battery and will be on the highway for a while before another urban area, use Charge to bring the battery level back up, then when you arrive at the next urban destination, you can go into EV mode. This is more fuel efficient than driving with a low battery on the highway and the next urban destination.

    One thing I really like with HVAC on this vehicle is while it is on defrost mode, I can turn on recirculation and have the choice of having the A/C on or not. All my Dodges prevent the recirculation and force the A/C to turn on in defrost mode. I understand this is to keep the humidity down, but sometimes you are driving behind a diesel truck or an area where a skunk just sprayed and you just want to press the recirculation button.
    Also I like on the driver door all the window switches are auto up.
    One thing Mitsubishi needs to do is improve the app (models above ES). You can either turn on the HVAC on now or have a weekly schedule set. I wish there was to an option for one time triggering of the HVAC either at a certain time or timer to when you will leave. The case here is I know I will be leaving today for Soccer at 10am, but you have to remember to turn it on 20 min before you leave, which I do not always remember to do.
    Thanks for the videos, great job!

    Thank for the great review and it's very helpful with the insights of your family - all opinions count! I am in the waiting list for one. I have a question regarding this car: I am getting older and eyes are not getting better either, how is your experience driving this car at night time? Are the headlights better/same/not as good compared to the other cars that you have driven? Thanks much for your time.

      My wife's daily commute includes 20km of country roads at midnight as she works afternoons. One of the big reasons why I got this car was because of the led headlight system with auto hi/low. This is alot better then the hid lights on my 335

    Did you use the flappy paddles to better utilise the regenerative breaking at any time? My understanding is that you can improve your fuel economy considerably by intelligently using the B0 to B5 regenerative breaking.

      If I may chime in, I have an identical (right down to the colour) vehicle than the one in this video, I've found that most of the time, I set it on one setting (B2 in my case) and leave it. If you drive in a really hilly area you might change it a lot, but in the 3 weeks I've had mine, I haven't changed it very often.

    Hello, I hope you are very well. I have a big doubt regarding the maintenance of the Outlander, we know that it has a certain mileage, generally every 10,000 KL a vehicle must be taken for maintenance "oil change, fluids, etc", but in the case of this Outlander I do have the 10,000 KL traveled only by electric, even so, will the maintenance maintain its cost even by replacing new oil, fluids, etc?

    Hello, I'm from Mexico and I'm thinking about buying this SUV, but I have a question that maybe you can help me solve.
    When you go on the highway (more than 400km), what is the best combination of driving modes to save fuel?
    From what I have researched, perhaps it would be to put the SUV in "ECO" mode and put the battery in "charge", but I am not sure that it is the most efficient way to save fuel.
    thanks

    After 5 months of ownership the thing that drives me a little nuts is the overly light steering. You can make it better by using Tarmac Mode, but then the car turns on the gas engine. So you have to choose between better steering feel/worse gas mileage or better mileage/worse steering feel. I also would love to remove the 3rd row seat in place of a spare/storage.

    I have a question that no one has answered or addressed, not even in the owner's manual. Assuming I'm charging the vehicle at an EV station (level 2) and I'm seated in the car during a winter month. If I turn on the vehicle while charging (ACC or ON mode), does the energy consumed for the infotainment system and, let's say, I turn on the heater and heated seats while waiting for the vehicle to charge for a certain amount of time (an hour or two), does it draw energy from the auxiliary battery or the main battery that runs the motor? I'm new to EVs. Usually, with an internal combustion engine, you would need to run the engine to power anything else, or you'd drain the auxiliary battery.

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  8 місяців тому +3

      Runs from the main battery and will slow your rate of charge but hey, you need to stay warm

      If you are charging, it will take energy directly from the grid.

    • @drzoidberg1
      @drzoidberg1 8 місяців тому +1

      It always draws straight from the drive battery. The display will show the energy from between aux use (music and HVAC) and energy flow from the charger to the drive battery.

      The US has a $7,500 commercial vehicle loophole that the stimulus bill missed in DC. After the finance department writes the lease/discount into your bottom line, buy out the lease. Negotiate and save HUGE to help move 2023's from the dealership.

    Going from electric to the gas engine at any speed, especially highway speeds, when the gas engine kicks in, isn't it bad for the cylinders because there's no oil being pumped to lubricate the cylinder walls, which in turn grinds down the sides of the cylinder walls, right?

    • @adamcoe
      @adamcoe 7 місяців тому +3

      Let's be honest, 97% of these vehicles are never driving on anything more intense than a gravel road. If you are serious about 4x4ing then chances are you're not buying this car, despite the fact that it is fairly capable (as much as any in its class) in terms of off roading. No one's taking an Outlander PHEV to Moab.

    Only in the lard arsed US market would a Mitsubishi Outlander be described as a "compact SUV."
