my mum bought 1 yesturday. on a 23 plate with 8,000 miles on it from the dealer, just been for a rip in it and i honestly cant lie. its a good little car haha. i drive a mercedes s class so i understand the difference but the aygo drives spot on., if you put it in cruise control and turn on the lane assist ect on, you can take your hands off the wheel and it will drive itself on the motorway and country roads lol ( i wouldnt recommend obvs) but it tells you too put your hands back on after 10 secs or something but for the gadgets you get in it, like line assist, collision so on and so on. and the warranty. thats why we went to the dealer.. i would actually recommend if you wanted a little town car, reversing camera. voice control. it tells you the speed limit of the road in the corner.. my mums chuffed to bits bless her. deffo worth looking at one and test driving
The original 05-14 Aygo was fantastic because it was so cheap and did what it said on the tin. You got no luxuries, not even a glove box but this was reflected in the price. If you just wanted a reliable car that got you and your shopping from A to B, the aygo was the motor to go for. The Aygo X has completely lost sight of this and doesn't really seem to have any purpose or USP. It's a shame really, they took a great original concept and messed with it so much that it now doesn't perform well in any area. The three cylinder engine is gutless but it sounds pretty decent if you keep the revs up
Its the same engine from the original model but due to all the extra weight and height and especially unsprung mass its incredibly slow and painful to try and get moving. New tyres are those ridiculous wheels cost £150+ a pop and it drives awful compared to the old shape it feels like it wants to fall over in the corners and the suspension is stiff to try and compensate for the ridiculous proportions of the car.
the 0-60 lauch editing reminded me of the Fast and Furious films, and pretty much any Hollywood car chase sequence. Lots of gear changes and pedal presses 😂
Great video! I wanted it when I saw it. Now I think I'm gonna stick to my old open roof Ford Ka, and save a ton of money. Besides having more space in the back. 😄
I bought a 3 year old ayago unaware of Toyotas 10 year warranty deal ( still a maximum of 100,000 miles ) you need to use a Toyota dealership , the costs aren’t horrendous …. Thanks to the warranty and my usage of around 8000 a year , the confidence and peace of mind Toyota ownership is second to none ……. Decent car for the money btw ! Needs an armrest tough !
Czech here...Škoda is pronounced exactly as you said first time not the second British version. Basically in Czech language everything is pronounced same way as it's written 😉 on the other hand, I totally understand that it would be silly to want pronounce things differently in different countries but just to keep it right, the first version is correct.
After watching several of his videos, I first thought his humor was a little over the top but it has really grown on me. I was literally laughing out loud in real life when the roof opened and he went "it even comes with a man operating it" and then continues to throw away his hat lol. I have an Aygo X and while the engine is kinda laughable, I'm not really in a hurry. With good tyres you are doing 3,7l/100km at speeds of 100km/h. (with bad tyres that will be 5l sadly). It's probably the most eco you'll ever get out of a purely petrol car. (mine is a CVT automatic). From the back it looks like a fat duck or something, but I really like how the car looks head on and from the sides. And it indeed turns around on a dime, comes with all the security stuff and reversing camera and actually fits surprisingly much of the stuff I actually need to fit in a car on a weekly basis (doing music/band stuff). I've really loved this year I've had it, but it's a leasing car so now I'm switching to a Yaris Cross hybrid. But the Aygo X sold me on modern toyotas.
Yes, it must be a huge advantage in this class of cars. My 11 years old 4th gen Lexus GS 450h was very expensive with these options and I pretty sure they work even better in this Aygo X
I've just paid a deposit for one! I'm part excited, part scared to death 😯(this is the most money I've spent on anything in my 53 years. I've always had old bangers). I wanted to treat myself to something decent. I'm just waiting now for a date for collection from the dealer.
I love your car reviews, awesome work. It would be very nice to see the fuel economy in L/100km (litres per 100 kilometers) so everyone can understand and not have to google it in the middle of the video.
@@snakeeyes9246 that's why the climate "experts" elites keep buying yachts.. nevermind those beach front properties... rising sea levels will avoid those lol
@6:25 if you want a small SUV about the same size but with much better legroom and boot size, just check out Suzuki Ignis. I've got an Aygo and our main car is Ignis. Ignis is great with sliding back seats yet it offers much better legroom. I'm 1.82m and in my driving position, someone at my height can easily sit at the back and still I can fit our largest 82cm suitcase at the back and put one more on top of it if I remove the shelf.
Always good reviews, however, the “B” roll inserts where Matt touches and points to whatever he’s talking about are way too fidgety and irritating. There’s no need to point at everything if the “B” roll is recording the very item being discussed. If he feels like pointing is necessary, how about a simple “point” and not the fidgety finger?
I've got one of these, it's definitely not the most refined thing but it's very charming and fun to thrash around, my girlfriend thinks it's a cute car. Also one annoying thing you missed is the shape of the rear doors: there is quite a sharp angled point on them, I winded myself after opening it too quickly stabbing myself in the chest with the sharp bit which sticks out quite a bit.
A fabric roof , A SMART idea of old , with a touch of Smart roadster at the back on the haunches . Some one spent some time , looking for , what as been before .
Got 3 new ones as delivery cars at work. Fuel economy is good, city driving is good, pretty comfy. For the proce however everyone is disappointed with the build quality. Two of the three came with crooked steering wheels(bear in mind, they had 15miles on the odometer), a lot of body panels don't match right, the glass on the rear hatch is warped around the edges and the emergency brake system activated when I approached a bridge (7⁰).
It's begging for an engine swap! Lowered, upgraded springs, rip out the back seats, bucket seats and harnesses and roll cage. Now that's something I'd love to see!
The only thing that speaks for the car is that it will continue to be reliable, because it has mostly the technology of the old model. However, it also has some of the old weaknesses - the poor (soft) paint, where you can see even the smallest impacts (Suzuki Swift has the same problem!). In addition, the second rubber in the door frame against less accumulation of dirt is still missing. Improved is tailgate with a metal frame around the glass. And yes - the engine is tough, but lasts a long time.
Its more expensive to maintain though as the weird size wheels means tyres are over £150 a corner and its got loads of electronic driver aid stuff to go wrong too. I drove one whilst my Toyota Auris was in for servicing and when putting my foot down to get past a cyclist the car went into limp mode.
I'm currently looking for a mini or super-mini car. One of the things I test about each car is the backseat leg room. I sit by the wheel and I adjust myself to comfort. Then I go out and enter the seat behind the driver. Aygo X didn't even have enough legroom for me to enter. I couldn't fit my legs through the door. For a car that tries to pretend to be a crossover, it's stupidly small. In comparison, Picanto let me enter the backseat but it was a tight fit. i10 has decent legroom, it's impressive. I'm 1.85m tall. 6'1.
I think Matt should start giving a proper rating out of 100 for cars along with the 3 options he presents, like Doug Demuro, I think that would be far more interesting in how we should value cars.
Drop a timecode when Mat says 'Aygo X' instead of 'Aygo Cross'!

my mum bought 1 yesturday. on a 23 plate with 8,000 miles on it from the dealer, just been for a rip in it and i honestly cant lie. its a good little car haha. i drive a mercedes s class so i understand the difference but the aygo drives spot on., if you put it in cruise control and turn on the lane assist ect on, you can take your hands off the wheel and it will drive itself on the motorway and country roads lol ( i wouldnt recommend obvs) but it tells you too put your hands back on after 10 secs or something but for the gadgets you get in it, like line assist, collision so on and so on. and the warranty. thats why we went to the dealer.. i would actually recommend if you wanted a little town car, reversing camera. voice control. it tells you the speed limit of the road in the corner.. my mums chuffed to bits bless her. deffo worth looking at one and test driving
The load cover was also originally designed to reduce noise in the cabin, so these flimsy nets aren't going to cut it.
i seen one the other day very impressed so nice to see curves and lovley lights at back such a refreshing change .
Some days you review the new 911, other days it's the Aygox
Such is life
Not a single, NOT A SINGLE automotive journalist or youtuber has addressed the passing away of Ken Block. WHAT A SHAME.
Great video! I wanted it when I saw it. Now I think I'm gonna stick to my old open roof Ford Ka, and save a ton of money. Besides having more space in the back. 😄
I had a sunroof like that on a 1972 Triumph 2000 Mk2 saloon and it was brilliant. More manufacturers should offer them.

Octavia with long vowel sounds is correct. You might have done chemistry (as I did) but you didn’t do Latin, Matt.
Carwow reviews, drag races and videos are the best with Mat and Yianni in drag races!
For sure👍
I bought a 3 year old ayago unaware of Toyotas 10 year warranty deal ( still a maximum of 100,000 miles ) you need to use a Toyota dealership , the costs aren’t horrendous …. Thanks to the warranty and my usage of around 8000 a year , the confidence and peace of mind Toyota ownership is second to none ……. Decent car for the money btw ! Needs an armrest tough !
Need a GR Aygo X version with high performance engine and sport suspension.

Czech here...Škoda is pronounced exactly as you said first time not the second British version. Basically in Czech language everything is pronounced same way as it's written 😉 on the other hand, I totally understand that it would be silly to want pronounce things differently in different countries but just to keep it right, the first version is correct.
@_Messag_me_mr_car_wow aye right
After watching several of his videos, I first thought his humor was a little over the top but it has really grown on me.
Crazy to get all the safety systems as standard 🤯
Yes, it must be a huge advantage in this class of cars. My 11 years old 4th gen Lexus GS 450h was very expensive with these options and I pretty sure they work even better in this Aygo X
Unnecessary though. Takes away the fun from driving :D
@@xXAlmdudlerXx how does an emergency braking system and adaptive cruise control take away fun from driving a 1.0 3cyl car?
@@xXAlmdudlerXxhow does collision assist take away from the joy of driving
Mandatory because of regulations, also one of the reasons Toyota only made a cross version... to justify the huge price hike from the previous gen.

I loved my 1st gen Aygo and I still have a soft spot for them. I'm a little "cross" that they aren't sold where I live now.
The first Aygo was cheap motoring for a cheap price. This new one is cheap motoring for a premium price!!!
It would be very nice to see the fuel economy in L/100km (litres per 100 kilometers) so everyone can understand and not have to google it in the middle of the video.
around 4L/100km. Average after 4000 kilometres in the highlands
This is such a cool car. Wish we had it in North America
I like the lower end car reviews....seems they have much more personality, and hopefully 4X4. This one was spiffy though !
To be honest, this car looks great! 👌
At least it's not electric 👍
(Casually drowns in rising sea levels)

@@snakeeyes9246 that's why the climate "experts" elites keep buying yachts.. nevermind those beach front properties... rising sea levels will avoid those lol
If anyone was serious about pollution we’d all be driving these. The 0-60 time is better than many 1980-90 rep mobiles
16:57 I just died of laughter during the launch 😂😂
@6:25 if you want a small SUV about the same size but with much better legroom and boot size, just check out Suzuki Ignis. I've got an Aygo and our main car is Ignis. Ignis is great with sliding back seats yet it offers much better legroom. I'm 1.82m and in my driving position, someone at my height can easily sit at the back and still I can fit our largest 82cm suitcase at the back and put one more on top of it if I remove the shelf.
Matt was like from the movie fast and furious car chasing scene 😂😂
Always good reviews, however, the “B” roll inserts where Matt touches and points to whatever he’s talking about are way too fidgety and irritating. There’s no need to point at everything if the “B” roll is recording the very item being discussed. If he feels like pointing is necessary, how about a simple “point” and not the fidgety finger?
Matt, please take it easy on the steering wheel 😂😂
In Italy we still have the FIAT 127 Rustica....
Octavia is latin and is therefore not pronounced like octave.
I have a Bulgarian friend and he owns a Honda jazz 2004 and a ford mondeo 2nd gen
Owning one of these would make me very X
best car for the price in germany when you lease it
One of the coolest designed engine cover shapes i gotta say
That car looks like a 2010 Bluetooth boombox.
EVERYONE knew where the 0-60 sounds were from and I love it.
Toyota Aygo X vs Dacia Sandero
What would you pick?
Wow you got me to watch an Aygo review. You got me there matt
Hear how he said the Japanese drive on the left just like we do in the UK lmao
So its safe, affordable, practical, economical and reliable...perfect!
Mmmm🤷♂️
Not comfortable.
