Hello from Quebec, Canada! I just found your video tonight. I was hoping to find someone that could explain, step by step, how to put fabric on a dresser and you are the winner for sure! I am sanding a dresser right now, and wish to do something similar to yours using fabric that I really love. Thank you so much for this fabulous tutorial.
@@TanglewoodSue Hello TanglewoodSue, I can't find your maximalist group. Can you give me a link to it please, I finished my dresser...thank you for responding to me.
When I’m working on a large decoupage piece like this one, I usually take a photo of it as I find looking at a photo I can see anything that’s not right much easier. My old high school art teacher’s tip.
I've watched so many videos of decoupage and done several pieces myself throughout the last couple of years...but this...this is impressive and gorgeous. Love, love, love this and this will be my next project. You go girl!!!!!
That fabric is crazy cool looking! Turned out so good. And the hardware worked good. I. loved your workspace and how colorful it is. I'm doing the same thing in my Artroom. The more color, crazy bright colors the better.
I did that this morning....my builders broke a huge wood chandelier that was hanging in the garage when we purchased the house. I said to them when they were taking it down please dont break it because I have an idea for it. Of course they broke 3 of the arms on one side. So I ordered some mitre glue (just like the old super glue) and fixed it and then I spray painted it 4 times with white paint (it was an ugly gold. This morning I thought I am going to add some colour with acrylic paints i have...totally cocked it up with the acrylic paints and had to respray it with white...so back to the drawing board because i want to add in some decoupage and now I just dont know! Just to say that I love the piece its beautiful....love the blue my favourite colour and it looks amazing like a beautiful semi precious stone!
as a teen in the 60s I covered a little cardboard chest with fabric. I loved it. I used the chest to store my craft supplies. I used it for many many years afterward. I wish I'd had this fabric then psychedelic!
Oh I’m so glad. Ya know I made this for a private class 4 years ago and decided to edit it for YT. I was amazed how much I still stand by everything I said. And I was just as goofy. 🤪. I’m glad you liked it :)
New to your channel. I’m 74 and did lots of decoupaging and antiquing in 60s and 70s with my mom, as well as upholstering sofas and chairs. I’m starting up again after working long hours and on-call as a healthcare worker. I loved you correctly called it MOD PODGE. There’s no G in mod Every time I hear someone call it that in UA-cam I speak back to my phone correcting them. Lol I know they can’t hear me but it does bug me. I love your videos and am sharing with my old lady friends. Never too late to learn something new.😃 Thanks for inspiration.💕
Parents rented an off base apartment in Germany. She decoupaged fabric on the walls like wallpaper and they just tore it down when they moved. The wives shared fabric or left it behind for new wives when they went back to the states.
I never come across your channel before. But you are great fun to watch and take your time showing, educating and acting on your work. Terrific!🎉❤️👏 Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴
That’s so sweet Debi. Thank you. I used to love that catalog even if I couldn’t afford a darn thing 🤣 Same with Anthropology. That’s why we make it ourselves right??
I love this piece, It inspired me to ask the design artist if she could rotate this design in the other direction so you might not have to use 2 yards and get by with 1. Thanks for letting all of us furniture artists know about Spoonflower fabric. They have so many amazing fabrics for decoupage. I haven't heard back from this artist yet but several of the other artists on Spoonflower have already rotated a few patterns for me. Sue you are amazing!!! at inspiring the rest of us to remove all boundaries when it comes to art!!
Beauuutiful!! I love the fabric so much! And the paint job - fantastic! I appreciate that you pay attention to all the little details throughout the project. It’s those details that make for a quality piece in the end. Doesn’t spoonflower have such great options?! I’ve shopped on their website in the past. It’s incredible the designs you can find. I’m not usually a fan of long, wordy, UA-cam videos, but this is definitely an exception. Loads of valuable tips.. you think of everything. I started a piece of furniture today - decoupaging fabric to it and had a little trouble with bubbles. One video showed them using sandpaper after the first coat. I’m a bit hesitant to do that after only one coat. I think I’ll just add more coats before the final poly… Thank you so much for the lesson! Now on to see what else you’ve got. I’m thinking I might have to subscribe. ✌️😊
Wow. What a lovely comment. I’m so glad we are connected. If you are using fabric and have bubbles try to heat it a little bit and use a creditcard to push them out. If you can’t ouch them out push them in to flatten them. I would not sand as that may damage the fabric. Hope that helps and start for watching!
@@TanglewoodSue wow took me 3 weeks to get notification of your comment. Thank you so much for your input! I never thought of heating it. I’ll keep that in mind. I did push air out with a rolling pin and also tried a card, but the mod podge seemed intent on bubbling on the surface. I did find more info online about sanding in between coats, using 400 grit, but it was SO fine that it did basically nothing. Plus, like you mentioned, I was probably afraid of scratching the fabric. Since then I’ve realized that my new bottle of mod podge was just too think. Now I water it down and spread thinner coats and the bubbling seems to be FAR more manageable. I know you can’t get to every question or comment, but I hope you know - I think your attitude and creative sense are infectious! Thank you for what you do! ✌️
Thank you for correcting all the "modge podge" mispronouncing!!! That drives me nuts too!! Lol I love the fabric decopauge. Sooo much easier than paper! Love your fun personality also. :)
Love it! I always wondered how people handle the individual drawer sections. Now, I know! I'm moving to an unfurnished apartment and I have to furnish it on the cheap. I'm checking out refinishing furniture videos. Thanks!👍🏾
Wow. I'm so subscribing. I'm attempting to redecorate my small living room. It's a nightmare. Walls that go straight up from the floor to the ceiling are rare in my small apt. Everything is at an angle. Anyway, my drawer is painted over in a glossy white colour (yuck). Can I still do decoupage over that or do I need to (yikes) sand the whole thing?
Oh, I absolutely love it,! You let your fantasy fly! So beautiful! And you explain it the economics of it, good for us, who don’t have too much money! I will surely subscribe and watch your previous videos! Thank you!

I love this so much!!!
Was wondering about this 🤔. How were the walls treated and what glue did they use....and what did they use to protect the fabric once in situ?
Once you fill the other hardware hole, what do you use to cover it? Just curious how it would work into the colors and not stick out.
Amazing work ❤
