- This is a compact 30 minute vinyasa flow dedicated to your self care. Part 3 of the On & Off the Mat Series where we explore how to integrate some of the concepts and principles of yoga wisdom into our practice and life. In this class, we explore the concept of Seva - selfless service - one of the by- products of taking care of yourself.
A steady paced flow with less detailed alignment cues for a more meditative and spacious practice. Sequence flows through surya A, warriors, twists, balances (standing big toe pose and 1/2 moon) before cooling down and taking a brief shavasana.

Love how you offer a variety of classes of different lengths. I had less time this morning and this was perfect! As others have pointed out, you packed quite a bit into 30 minutes yet it never felt rushed.

That practice had so much in it. Hard to believe it was only 30 minutes. Thank you for your seva. It is much appreciated.
I came across an injury called yoga butt and am wondering if what I am thinking is tight hamstrings isn't it. In final stretch seated forward fold you said bend your knees if you have tight hamstrings. In that fold I feel a tightness/pulling just at the lower butt. I thought that was a tight hamstring but now I'm wondering. I don't think I have an injury but I don't want to get one either by over stretching and understrengthening
Agree! So many of the postures in yoga are forward focussed. Strengthening the front. Forever trying to lengthen hamis for many. That pull may not be an injury, but it sounds like sensations at the insertion point so be careful. Strengthening the posterior chain of muscles is equally important. Hamis, glutes, the muscles either side of your spine. My preference, as I share that feeling of tightness, is to bend the knees and slide the heels away while maintaining a lift to the back of pelvis and a forward tilt to the front in forward folds. And add emphasis to back body strengthening. Locust pose, cobra without hands. 1/2 splits with an active muscular engagement. Digging your heel down and isometrically drawing back so you have cocontraction while lengthening.
I’ve had yoga butt 3 x in 20 years. You’ll know… it’s painful to sit and without proper rehab, takes a while to resolve. It’s then subsequently quite vulnerable in my experience.
Focus on strength work outside your practice. I’ve been squeezing these 20 min routines in with just a small set of weights at home :-)
