Ahhh! I've been wanted to get this since it was announced, now you really got me jonesin for it! I have to figure out a whole bunch of changes in my percussion session I was trying to ignore, and you're not helping!
This kick/bass module is awesome !! My favourite with the Befaco Kickall. Because they’re totaly different. Mmm this Battering Ram can make some warm and smooth kicks, but it makes blast & violent Hardtechno kicks too. I don’t like the sound in red mode when you push the distortion to the max. But it’s the only things who disappoints me. All the others things are very nice to use ❤
I love this module and haven’t even played it. I appreciate it’s range and abilities in a relatively small form factor with great UI! Looking forward to picking one up. Thanks for the great patches and thoughts as always! Seems to really excel at offering the full range of a tidy little box without getting too far out of a drum like sound. Is there anything you wished it did that it can’t at the moment?
Thanks! Honestly I can’t think of anything it’s missing for me. It’s really quick to dial in a kick that sits well in a patch, sounds great, doesn’t take up too much space and generally does its job really well…
Right guys, im really new to hardware, what would be the best way to buy this? I only want this, what other equipment would i need to get midi into it and audio back to my interface?? Any help would be massively appreciated
You would need a case and power to house the module - maybe something like a small 4ms Pod case. You should be able to just connect the audio directly but if you find that it’s too hot you’d need an attenuator to bring the level down a bit. Depending on your DAW and interface you might be able to send MIDI to it without additional hardware (eg using Ableton Live’s CV Tools and an audio interface with a spare DC-coupled output). Otherwise you’d need a MIDI to CV converter - lots of options for that in either modular or standalone form.
I’d recommend getting a NiftyCase as they are cheap (for Eurorack) and have MIDI-CV and line level out built in. At 84HP it’s not too big and you have a little bit of room to grow, should you need/want to
I’m confused because in the interview of the creator of the kick it seems like he said it was analog with digital controls. Not 100% sure tho… Anyway, it sounds huge! Great video, thank you !!
Guess it depends a bit what you want out of a kick drum - I tend to use more clean 808-style kicks in my music so didn't focus so much on its more aggressive side. Maybe check out Blush Response's video to hear more of its gnarly side...
The ending was sublime

god when the chord comes in around 18:20
Yeah! Very well featured - slots in so well into your case. Thank you 👌
Wow, nice tones you're crafting here. Thank you for this demo ❤
Love those nest tamers - remarkably they can even handle quite thick cables like a pair of 1/4 inch balanced outs.
Excellent demo! Thank you

Shakmat seems to know what is up❤

@@TomChurchill Love that! That’s a win for Shakmat for sure! Yay for collaborations!
What are those little clips for your cables around your screws? I want those!
They’re called Nest Tamers and you can buy them here: www.signalsounds.com/Gammalite-Systems-Nest-Tamers-Eurorack-patch-cable-clips
@@TomChurchill hell yeah dude, thank you.

Nice demo. I have a question. The patch cable clamps, very interesting. How do you call it and where can i buy it.

@@TomChurchill Thanks for the information.
Sorry could be you explained it but is this module analog?
Good point! I don’t think I mentioned it actually - it’s digital

I guess you're right 👍🏽
Digitally controlled analog circuit. But not sure tho

It’s a collaboration with Marc Nostromo who’s a software developer at Ableton.
Hmm, pretty underwhelmed by this module. And you usually make everything sound so good.
Fair enough! Kick drums are very subjective things I guess...
That was great! Thanks so much but please stop costing me money!
Haha - sorry about that! 😀
Honestly the module sounds kinda anaemic
