    BIG THANKS to @Youthman and RYAN from Ascend AV for putting this on! You guys killed it!
    -JVC DLA-NZ7 D-ILA Projector
    The DLA-NZ7 D-ILA is the world first (as of September 2021, according to a research by JVCKENWOOD) home theater model with 8K/60p/4K120p input. It is equipped with 8K/e-shift proprietary technology with 2-direction shift to reproduce 8K-quality image from 4K signals. 4K120p input also makes the projector ideal for gaming when combined with Low Latency mode. The projector is driven by three 0.69-inch native 4K D-ILA devices and 17-element, 15-group all glass lens with 65 mm diameter to project high-resolution images to every corner of the screen. BLU-Escent laser diode light source also contributes to project the high-resolution 8K image, realizing brightness of 2,200 lumens and longevity of up to 20,000 hours. Compatible with the latest HDR10+, the projector boasts industry leading HDR performance. 8K, Laser, and HDR are the keywords that describe JVCs 2021 projector models.
    8K/e-shift technology reproduces 8K image quality
    New 0.69-inch 4K D-ILA (4096 x 2160) device x 3
    BLU-Escent Laser Light Source
    High brightness of 2,200 lm provides vibrant and dynamic images
    17-element, 15-group all-glass 65mm diameter high-quality lens
    Native Contrast Ratio of 40,000:1 translates to a spectacular Dynamic Contrast Ratio of ∞ :1
    2x HDMI (48 Gbps, HDCP 2.3) inputs, supporting 8K60P and 4K120P input signals
    HDR10+ contains the metadata of the producer’s intentions for each scene, and with such data, the projector is able to automatically reproduce images as the creator intended.
    Frame Adapt HDR* dynamically tone maps any HDR10 content frame-by-frame or scene-by-scene and automatically performs adjustment to achieve optimal images close to reality as seen by human eyes. As a part the Frame Adapt HDR, the projector offers improved gamma processing accuracy from 12- to 18-bit equivalent to reproduce smoother and finer gradation
    New Theater Optimizer** function, which works in Frame Adapt HDR mode, offers optimum HDR images by analyzing usage environments using the screen size and gain information and intelligently adjusts tone mapping.
    Auto Tone Mapping function automatically adjusts settings for optimum HDR10 image quality
    For easy reproduction, the projector switches automatically to HDR picture mode when HDR10 signals are received
    Nine settings of Installation Mode include Lens Control, Pixel Adjustment, Mask, Anamorphic on or off, Screen Adjust, Installation Style, Keystone, Pincushion, and Aspect; stored installation modes for various environments can be called up.
    Low Latency Mode suppresses display delay for faster response when receiving signals from PC and game consoles

      @@stevewright1539 Agreed, I'd recommend a JVC NP5 over the Sony 5000. Unless I was a VERY heavy user, the laser isn't worth the cost to me for NZ7 versus NP5. NP5 is a lamp, but is around the same money as the 5000 only better tone mapping.

    I agree with @Commander Russels . The NZ7 should have been compared to the XW6000 which is much closer in price and Light output. This felt a bit unfair since the selected XW5000 is nearly half the price of the NZ7. I understand getting a hold of a 6000 at the time of this shootout might not have been possible. I hope Dream Media does another shootout using a fair compare with the 6000 and NZ7.

    I know it’s difficult to tell from a UA-cam video but the JVC was brighter but it had elevated blacks, clipped whites, crushed shadow detail, and blown out ineffectual tone mapping (this was very obvious during the wand duel). The Sony was not as bright but it had its black, shadows, and colors more under control than the JVC. I never thought I’d see a cheaper Sony have better blacks, colors, and shadows than a very expensive JVC.
    The Sony is thousands less and I didn’t see onscreen the JVC justify its price premium.

      The black crush is not what was seen in person, What you see is a result of the limitations if the recording equipment. • @mrjazzycharon2
      @mrjazzycharon2 Рік тому

      I don't understand the benefit of 4096-4K over 3840-UHD. There's just no content with 4096 pixels width, which means upscaling has to be done all the time to fill the pixels. And with very common 16:9-content you lose lumens as the outer pixels of the 17:9-panels stay black.

    • @mrjazzycharon2
      @mrjazzycharon2 Рік тому

      The Sony does motion smoothing to 4K120p, but just doesn't accept 4K120p signals. 120Hz-gaming with a projector really is a niche thing as shutter-based 3D is nowadays.

    • @FrankieKennethL
      @FrankieKennethL Рік тому

      Sony does not have superior black floor to the JVC series. The Sony is not s bright nor gets as detailed in the darks. The extreme bright HL loss seen I. The comparisons could be tempered with some tweaking. From my understanding, Sony Reps prepared all of the Sony’s for the comparisons….JVCs didn’t get that level of preparation. Other than color calibration, they weren’t setup for their ‘best’ performance. I think I heard Michael say they wanted more of a casual user experience comparison which is how most users will do.

    I would love to see shootout 5000 vs 6000. A much more meaningful shootout for me and many. For me the NZ7 won't be a good fit due to screen size and back wall limitations. The Sony's can produce a larger image than the JVC with the same throw distance so I am going with either 5000 or 6000 but have not yet decided if the 6000's price bump matches its added benefits for my needs.

      I have seen the Sony XW5000 vs Epson LS1200 vs JVC NP5 and JVC NZ8 (NZ8 blows all the others out of the water, no doubt), but the NP5 has better black levels, better HDR, more natural colors than the XW5000. The Sony has more punchy colors and is a bit sharper (processing, not lens). It is a matter of preference. I have chosen for the JVC NP5, because of the above, the Sony was a bit too "cartoonish" for me. But both are excellent in their own way. Do go and see, don't just buy blind. The Epson's black levels are worse than Sony and JVC, so a no no for me. All projectors were calibrated.

      @@MrILStatek No I am actually not. I don’t really like Sony products in general. I don’t like their operating system and don’t like that sometimes they don’t seem to play nice with other products. I do like the Sony projectors over the JVC. I have seen them side by side. Everyone has an opinion, what you can’t dispute is that Sony is smaller in size and makes less noise. The noise has been tested a number of times by lots of different reviewers and Sony always makes less noise. With all that said between the JVC and Sony its very close. I would actually be fine with either if I end up with one. The JvC is brighter but I think the Sony has better black levels which has been a theme with most of their products. On the other hand Sony has had issues with their panels in the past. I have also looked at the non native LS 1200 which is cheaper then both but holds up with either. The issue I have with the LS1200 is the blacks get washed out and the picture overall is not as sharp as either the Sony or JVC but that’s really comparing Apples and Oranges between the three. Finally the reason I like better blacks over brightness is simply the type of movies I watch which are darker in general and have more black levels to them over colors so I prefer better black levels over a brighter projector.
