She did understand the truth, but ultimately feels it won't matter. And nobody on the green council will listen to her. So it kind of doesn't matter now.
The council had been plotting to place Aegon as king while Viserys was still alive so whether Alicent made a mistake or not, they will still take the crown from Rhaenyra.
And none of it matters because the small council were already planning to crown Aegon before the king even died. The even left Alicent out of those plans because she wasn’t relevant.
@@ToeKnife166they left her out cause she wouldn’t have agreed. Otto told them to leave his daughter out of it cause he saw that she and rhaenyra were friendly again
the second writing disaster after meleys at the coronation... making Aegon's coronation look like a mistake was unnecessary... why they did it instead of just making it what it was... which is otto had been planing this, his daughter wanted it too...
Larys Strong is a Greenseer like Bran he can warg into the rats and see what's going on. That's why he knows shit he shouldn't. They why the show has been foreshadowing with so many rat scenes.
It wasn’t the only reason, mainly Otto and co schemed the whole thing, the “fact” that Viserys “named” Aegon to be King is just the cherry on top for the whole usurping
Helaena forgiving Alicent, is the “Mercy of the Mother” ironic that it’s her daughter being a better mother and unintentional practitioner of the Seven.
Helaenas relationship with her mother is honestly jarring because without the child murder is very close to my own with my mother 🥺 even since I was a kid I was having to forgive her and be there and console her whenever she was going through a crisis whilst I was dealing with my own pain (still am)
I feel like the whole Aegon mix up explains why in the books Rhaenerya let Alicent live for so long. But overall it’s a bad idea to take major orders of succession that could impact the entire realm from a man who was clearly delirious from sickness, age and pain medicine. Personally I think Alicent just hears whatever she wants to.
What I found from the books online, he didn’t even mention Aegon at all. He was taking about his dead wife and how he misses her and that he promises to see her soon. Aemma and Aegon can sound the same if you pronounce both very similarly and very quietly. Thats just what I found. Alicent heard what she wanted
@@m.c.martinmaking it a misunderstanding on Alicent's part was certainly a creative liberty taken by the showrunners. It is simply convenient that it would help explain why Alicent lives so long in the book, and it makes for better television for the viewers to be divided, due to both likeable a flawed character representation on both sides.
The books are written by unreliable narrators. The show is supposed to be different. Blood and fire is a book within the book of asoif. Standish daughter was reading it when she was teaching Davis to read
No she doesn't. She clearly accepted that rhaenyra would be queen in episode 8 at the dinner. She truly thought Viserys was talking about Aegon II, and given that he confided in her about questioning his decision to name rhaenyra heir at the bonfire on the hunt in S1, it's entirely in the realm of possibility she believed his final wish was amended. The only reason that people believe she "just hears w/e she wants" is from unwarranted enmity.
I like how the episode begins with the scene of the Blackwood boy saying "Aegon Targaryen is no true King" and then the episode ends with that confirmed in the convo between Alicent and Rhaenyra.
Think this episode should be titled "assumptions". Daemon assumed harrenhall would be hard to take bc it's the largest castle within the seven kingdoms but was essentially empty. Alicent assumed the Aegeon, her son, was the prince that was promised making his claim essentially empty
Aegon still has a legitimate claim lol. Throughout the show they repeatedly mention that sons take precedent over daughters in succession battles in this world. Irrespective of whether he's the prince who was promised, he still can claim to be Viserys' heir based on his sex.
I don't believe Rhaenyra sneaking into King's landing was in the book but I thought that was one of the coolest scenes they could have done for the show. Her reunion with Alicent was great, and having her basically explain the misunderstanding with Aegon was brilliant and really reinforces the tragedy of the whole civil war. Its clear the two of them have no desire for conflict but both realize"its too late".
I’ve been saying this for 2 years now. Alicent is full ish. She even admitted that Viserys words didn’t make any sense yet chose to run it and usurp the throne. Sometimes people find a reason to do what their heart truly desire and that’s what she did. She only heard what she wanted to hear
@@Jeppe_P THIS! It’s why I HATE this whole arc. It’s dumb. Why not go with the far more logical Dameon’s hatred for the greens and desire to kill them all as he will always see them as a threat and so forth for others to ally around him. I just can’t comprehend the idiocy with trying to switch the motivations trying to do their best to tie to to GOT.
@@Jeppe_P at that point she still held some power in the realm. She could have done something if she wanted to. Remember how she threatened to send jasper to the wall when she got pissed over the assassination attempt of Rhanyra.
I didn’t think Alicent would be receptive to the idea that the wrong person sits on the throne…BUT you could see the light at least flicker in her mind, right before her unknowing ignorance changed to willful denial
I don't think it was willful denial. I think it was the realization that the "facts" will change literally nothing. The king is the king now and has declared war.
@@HeadCannonPrime Right. That, and the fact that she has no power to change the course of events now. If Alicent and Rhaenyra had this conversation sooner things could have been different, but then, we wouldn't have much of a story, would we? lol
Now she can decide to go to war. She knows that her father uttered the song of fire just before his death. Now this dream more important to her than ever. She promised her council to consider of going a war of dragons. It is now easier for her to decide.
It was started because they all wanted power and because they had dragons they all thought they could flex their muscles on the regular folks of the kingdom.might make right. Delusional mediocrity at its finest.
The problem with Seasmoke is that dragons only abide to one Dragon Rider at one time (Hence Dany never attempting to mount Viserys or Rhaegal), meaning Leanor needs to have died off-screen in order for Seasmoke and Addam to make sense, which in turn makes Leanor surviving pointless. There is also the thing that if Laenor is ever revealed to still be alive, Daemons marriage with Rhaenyra is illegitimate, meaning her sons with Daemon are Bastards (As well). So yeah, Laenor kinda need to be dead in order for the rest of the plot to work. Notice how Aemond wasn't allowed on the Small Council when Otto was still Hand, because he could potentially poison Aegons ears with talk of war/vengeance and now with Otto gone, he sits there.
@@nickdentoom1173not really. It shows that Rhaenyra/Daemon didn't kill him just so they could get married, but allowed him to live out his days with his boyfriend/lover in peace.
I’m glad u noticed too- rhaenyra shrugged off mysaria when she said that bcuz rhaenyra knows that when a dragon is lonely it’s probably bcuz they can no longer feel the connection between their rider… I hope it doesn’t mean that he’s dead
@@bobbybos2170lol I get your frustration though cause every trailer promises actions but they skip it like game of thrones use to in first 2 seasons but when they got budget we saw sets and wars and dragons actually being active. But I wonder why they are doing this when the budget is so huge. The actors aren’t asking for too much but probably the sets because the sets and props look incredible and expensive as well as the costumes (and dragons). But still… we need action
fun fact: during the Great Sept of Baler scene, you can hear a liturgy in the background, and it's an slavonic orthodox chant saying "gospode pomiluj", meaning "god have mercy" :) don't know if it was made on purpose but I recognized the chant as I was raised in orthodox faith
i kind of think rhaenyra sent rayna away to pentos because she kind of cares about her as a daughter and wants her to be safe as she is the vulnerable one without a dragon.
For those saying that Alicent only heard what she wanted to hear, concerning Viserys, consider that, despite the fact that her mistake was genuine, she might have had to try to install Aegon as king, regardless. Now, I think we all know that Rhaenyra would never kill her brothers and sister, but part of Alicent didn’t want to roll the dice and find out. Otto also played his part by putting a bug in her ear about Rhaenyra killing Aegon. Kinslaying is badly thought of in Westeros but some people take that taboo less seriously than others. Logically, Rhaenyra should get rid of rivals to her throne. Maybe she wouldn’t have to off Helaena, but she would definitely have to get rid of her three half brothers. Alicent could have chosen to trust when Viserys died but that’s hard to come by in this world. Plus, she didn’t have the means to stop her father. Otto was never going to let Rhaenyra sit the throne. So, I’m not excusing Alicent but I just think it should be remembered that she doesn’t live in a civilized world. Making the wrong decision at this level could get your whole family wiped out.
I flew over here as soon as I finished this episode!!! Omg the acting between Emma and Olivia in this episode. *Chefs kiss* Best episode so far. And omg the dragon eggs?? Who else thinks those might be Drogon and his bros? At least 3 of those anyway. Edit: I just watched Charlie's video on S3 Episode 4, and he said one of the directors ( not any show runners, not GRRM) but a director for that episode, said that 3 of those eggs are Danys.
I'm pretty sure Dreamfyre is the mom. There are 4 eggs here, not 3. The colors also don't match, colors don't change on the eggs. Drogon and co look alot more like Dreamfyre & dragons look like their parent(s) @@Prospectgirl
After watching the entire video, it seems Danys eggs are probably from Dreamfyre. Everyone keeps saying Drogon looks like Dreamfyre, but they haven't actually shown Dreamfyre in the series yet. So we shall see.
Why dedicate 15 minutes to it though. Nothing happened in this episode. Rhaenyra and Alicent just look stupid. In the books they're ambitious and pretty cold. Beautiful how 😂😂
You should watch the show more closely...Davos Blackwood was not the one who had the sword plunged in his neck. It was clearly a bracken as one could see from the horse on a field of yellow sigil sown on his gambeson. That bracken who was killed was likely the one who was swinging his sword around. Also the blackwood shown was Davos Blackwood and not Benjicot Blackwood. This is clear from the subtitles. Separately, saying the cause of the start of the war is clear also shows that you didnt pay much attention to this episode or the theme developed through the past 13 episodes. It is very hard to pinpoint what particular action caused the war. All the events mentioned by Rhaenys could be seen as a cause of the war (except Aemond's eye being taken). One can also say that the war was caused by Alicent marrying Viserys, or Aegon II being born, or Aegon II and Rhaenyra not being wed, or Jace and Helena not being wed, or even by the decision of the council of harrrenhal in 101AC.
The scene in the cathedral was insane, how can you move forward, when you have no power? What can you do, when you’re branded a traitor. I’m still team black! Thank you Charlie! Low key, super good episode! I love this show!
It’s open to interpretation, and might just be her generally being perceptive and knowing Alicent carries various guilt. Might also be a reference to something in the future!
I got the impression she was forgiving her because Alicent feels responsible for her son's death. She wants Alicent to stop blaming herself so she tells her she forgives her. I didn't think it was a literal "hey I don't like you were sleeping with criston but I forgive you for doing that." imo
I actually felt like the impact was more profound just seeing how silly it was what started it and then just silently showing the brutal aftermath as the scene expanded, how many lives lost so unnecessarily. What a waste.
I disagree. It was a battle between non-characters basically fought for personal reasons that nobody cares about. They did a perfect job setting it up and then WHAM a great payoff with the sword in the neck and a field of dead people. It showed how devastating the battles will be. Then need to save money and time to film actual battles involving characters we know. What they did was 1000% better than it just happening "in a raven" totally off screen. Very smart film making.
I almost feel like they did it intentionally when you don’t see what’s happening you can question WHY they fought. Was it really because of the Dance of the Dragons or was it because they have this long standing feud? It leaves it up to question.
I’ve been a faithful black loyalist but Rhaenyra pmo this episode. 1st she sends Rhaena away only to watch her kids and sort of guilt trips her into doing. 2nd she completely offs the fact that war is here and shuts down any talk of burning the greens army. Lastly she meets with Alicent and in the process makes her stance look weak and desperate. No doubt the dowager queen will report this to her son but hopefully this makes the greens overconfident
I don't think she will tell Aegon because he'll be really pissed that she just chatted with her, then let her go instead of telling him or the guards so they could seal the city and capture and kill her! Aegons been dying for action anyway and the enemy was right there in plain sight with no army or dragon!! She'd be smart not to tell anyone!
Ok so let me ask you this...after your house was infiltrated... you'd leave your kids there? And you'd send them with anybody? Rhaena was a good choice to tend to her babes, baby dragons and EGGS. She literally put the future of their house in Rhaenas hands. She ended up with more responsibility than anyone. It's war... everyone does shit they don't want during wartime. And the reason they are in this situation is because of misunderstandings but the men in her counsel just want blood. Rhaenys was absolutely right ....this was the war that ended Dragons ...so it should be thought out carefully. A baby was beheaded, a boy was eaten by a dragon .. because the 2 perpetrators...did not think carefully.
She sent Rhaena away with her other children because they’re all vulnerable without dragons. She couldn’t burn down the greens because that would have been her first official act of war and she needed to confirm there was no other way forward (which she did seeing Allicent). Allicent hates her son(s) and regrets putting Aegon on the throne. She could have had Rhaenyra captured/killed instantly after leaving the candles in that scene but didn’t. She let her leave. Allicent is just as reluctant to make bold moves of war. She won’t be telling her dreadful son anything.
One of the blessings of being Australian is that HoD is Monday viewing for me which means by the time I've finished watching the current episode I can happily wander over here and your video is awaiting me. Thank you always as they help me feel like I 'understand' the show and give me a more "full' experience.
Alicent was trying so hard to confess her sins in the last episode to her dad but was denied so in this episode when her daughter says "I forgive you", it completely shocks her because that was what she was seeking to hear this whole time.
The problem is that a Dragon only takes one rider in its lifetime (The rider still being alive). Which means the Addam Velaryon and Seasmoke connection cannot be a thing, unless Leanor died off-screen, which then in turn makes you wonder why did they let him survive in the first place.
@@nickdentoom1173they let him survive to avoid villanizing rhaenyra. All the women have to be pure and good while being taken advantage of by the blood thirsty men. If rhaenyra ordered her husband to be murdered then she couldn't play innocent, so they had him survive just to kill him off screen.
It was satisfying seeing Alicent’s face when she realizes she misunderstood even though I know it that that misunderstanding made absolutely zero difference in these events. I don’t understand Alicent’s power. She doesn’t seem like she has any. She sits on the counsel but it’s not like they listen to her
The range of emotions that went up and down between those two women in that conversation was masterful acting.watching Rhaenyra cry thinking her father didn't love her enough and changed his mind, then her coming back up once she realized alicent got it wrong, then alicent realizing It all. The nonverbal acting and eyes we're amazing
I noticed in the subtitles that one of Aegon's kings guard knights had the last name Reyne. This is the same Reyne that is from the notorious song, "Rains of Castamere". We get to see one of the Reynes before Tywin Lannister wipes their entire house off the planet
I like the ending because it was private, so no way maesters could write about it in Fire & Blood, and most importantly it told Rhaenyra what she needed to hear. Now that she knows what she knows, having connected the dots in her head, she has every right to go for the throne since now she’s fully aware that throne belongs to her, meaning that these next few episodes will have us seeing Rhaenyra going straight into action and I for one am hoping to see it.
Even though Rhaenyra successfully sneaking into King's Landing seems doggy, we cannot deny the last scene is quite important. Alicent should be confused as she never heard of "Song of Ice & fire", since most of the heir's eldest son will be named Aegon after Aegon the First. So she has a reason to suspect Rhaenyra might be bluffing. But it's different from Rhaenyra's perspective. Now she knew her father didn't broke his promise and she is actually the true heir for the throne. Therefore when the negotiation failed at the end of the scene, Rhaenyra didn't feel sad nor pity, but putting a smile w/ assurance.
When Alicent said “you know what Aemond is” hit me super hard, the man is diminished, and will stop at nothing, ever, to prove himself! The end will be hard. The depths call young warrior! You will never be as strong as Daemon!
Aemond sounds and looks like his brother's biggest hater in every interaction that they have. Evan Mitchell plays him masterfully. You can feel Aemond's thirst for the the iron throne and disdain for Aegon.
I enjoyed this breakdown more than the episode. Personally, I don’t care who seats on the iron throne I don’t like any of them. I only feel bad for the dragons…
Moondancer is beautiful. I loved the, "I was told not to engage so I didn't" line. "Aegon the Co---." Yeah. Maybe she should have taken more of an interest in her husband's hobbies. During the "behind the episode" one of the showrunners said, "We've always seen Cole as a strong, brooding guy." Obviously she's been making an entirely different show than the one I've been watching. Cole can fight one-on-one, sure. But he's never put the job, any job, above his own pleasure. Even considering how lax some of the Kingsguard are about their own rules, Cole is the worst. >>> Just watched the sneak peak for next week. O.M.G.
She might have. She seems like she just wants what's best for the 7 kingdoms. And if she really believed her dad changed his mind, she might have stepped down.
it's surreal that in such a short time you've managed to put together these videos, full of references, images and videos, easter eggs. congratulations man
Its funny how Baela wanted to burn ser Criston and then decided to leave when they reached the woods. She does understand those trees are not cover for them right? You are riding a giant ball of fire and their hiding place is a huge pile of wood. She couldve easily taken the first major victory right then and there.
Hey man idk if you’ll see this or not but I want you to know that I really enjoy and appreciate your content. Anytime I need clarification on something “nerd” I always go straight to you. Dune, GOT, Marvel, doesn’t matter. I always watch your recap videos after every episode just to have a 100% full understanding before the next weeks episode drops. Keep doing what you do man, thank you!
Thank you Charlie, you’ve become a significant part of my Sunday night! After the BBQ is done, we feast, and watch the chaos, then I secretly wait, in the dark, for Charlie!
"He spoke of the prince that was promised" The way I squelled, face palm and laughed all at the same time. It's a sick joke for Rhaenyra. Lost a son, war is looming, going undercover to speak to Alicent, almost convinced that his father changed his mind about her inheritance on his death bed... only to realized Alicent misunderstood Aegon's name. And now there's really no turning back. Lol. The biggest mistake meme has been born.
One of the minor things that I really enjoy about this show is how they handle distance and travel. Towards the end of GoT you had characters practically teleporting all around Westeros, good to see this show actually taking the time to show how fucking massive Westeros is with dialogue such as when they talk about it taking time for the lannister and hightower armies to march to kings landing and whatnot.
It doesnt matter. Alicent is right. In fact even before alicent mistook viserys, things were already in motion to make aegon king. It doesnt matter. It just doesnt matter. Men who grow up training for battle thirst for the glory.
More than setting up the dragonseeds which I think they are also doing that, I think pointing out that Seasmoke is acting weird lately is their way of telling us “something happened to Leanor who was alive (since dragons won’t bond with anyone else until their rider’s death) and when he died because of reasons is that Seasmoke started acting weird, I think that because they don’t show us other dragons acting up BUT Leanor’s
Rhynera should of named Rynes her hand "The Queen that never was"would of made a fantastic queen she's regal , articulate and wise .Imagine if she had become 👑 I really think it would of been a very different future for the house
Her sneaking into Kings Landing wouldnt be in the books because it was a secret move, masters, mushroom...wouldnt have known so they couldnt have documented it.
Alicent also knowing the truth never mattered. Remember, Otto, Cole, and their buddies on the council were going to lie and say Viserys named his boy the heir anyway. Alicent believing Viserys had changed his mind probably only made Otto feel better about his plan.
Am I the only that realizes when Alicent said "there's been no mistake" is a callback to last season when she found out that the council has been planning to usurp Rhaenyra regardless? It didn't matter if Viserys didn't talk to Alicent before he passed cause it'll still result to the same current even they're having.
I actually thought the episode was mostly mid or slightly above mid and I don’t buy Rhaenyra risking her life just to have a chat with Alicent. Alicent could’ve easily screamed and cried for help after she left regardless Rhaenyra holding a knife. I’m not sure that part was ever in the book. An added scene to have Emma and Olivia interact again. I did like the confusion of Aegon the Conqueror finally being solved. The parts I did like from the episode - - Rhaenyra and Mysaria bonding more. Mysaria is an important ally to Rhaenyra in this entire story. - Introduction to Ulf the White. He’s likable now similar to Hugh Hammer. Let’s just say I will compare Ulf to what Paul George recently did to my LA Clippers. 💰 That is all. - Introduction to Alys Rivers. When Alys said to Daemon that he will die here in Harrenhal, remember that the God’s Eye lake is next to that castle. - Dream sequence brought back Milly Alcock for a surprise cameo and humanizes Daemon giving him a guilt trip over Jaehaerys’ death. I’ve been desensitized from The Boys for showing tons of male genitalia, so when I saw Ewan Mitchell show his cock, I wasn’t that shocked. It may not be his real penis showing either. That could be prosthetics or he’s patched or wearing a thong and the penis was CGI added. Rob Benedict who portrayed Splinter in The Boys S4 wore prosthetics penis and ass. I was actually more shocked with Ewan’s torso. He’s ripped! Ewan is 27 but he has a ripped torso and isn’t Aemond supposed to be only around 16-17? But then it’s weird because Ewan still has skinny arms. Tiny biceps. He’s not like Manny Jacinto who actually has always been ripped even before he became Jason Mendoza in The Good Place and way before Darth Biceps. If you want to see more male genitalia… Wild Things (Kevin showed his bacon) Forgetting Sarah Marshall Zack and Miri Make a Porno Most Sacha Baron Cohen comedies Pam & Tommy The Boys Gen V Aemond showing his penis was hardly shocking if you watch The Boys. And again, it could be CGI or prosthetics. Aegon went back being a douchebag again bullying his younger brother. The whorehouse scene with a woman sucking a guy’s huge cock seemed unnecessary. It’s obviously prosthetics because HBO can’t show porn. They couldn’t when they aired Real Sex and Cathouse: The Series. I was actually concerned if Daemon was going to hook up with Alys Rivers. I was like, “Don’t trust that b*tch!” She’s like a witch. She’s future paramour to the full monty himself in this episode. The less interactions with Alys, the safer Daemon would be. Don’t trust these witch b*tches! We got to see more of Rhaena at least. She had more speaking lines. But then she ends up being a babysitter to Rhaenyra’s kids since she has no dragon. Criston Cole with that stupid haircut and being a douche to Alicent’s brother who called Criston the “knight of comfort.” Fabien Frankel might be one of the most handsome actors to ever portray such a hated character. I think he’s more handsome than Matt Smith and Ewan Mitchell but Daemon and Aemond are the Final Fantasy characters. Similar to Qimir/Smilo Ren, they can sell merch. I just thought the last part between Rhaenyra hiding in disguise as some nun to speak with Alicent didn’t feel realistic to me. Why risk her life for it? Why not write letters and have ravens drop them off? Rhaenyra is the most important character to Team Black and she’s willing to risk her life to have a 3-minute chat with Alicent? Episode 3: B- Episode 3 felt like a filler episode before the next big one which will be Episode 4. Ep. 2 was the strongest one so far thanks to the strong acting from Tom, Rhys, and Emma. The next episode is going to be crazy: Battle at Rook’s Rest. If you know the outcome, I give my best to Eve. 😭
I see how many people empathize with Rhaena after she’s sent away to be a babysitter, but people fail to realize how important her job is. She’s guarding small dragon riders and dragon eggs when babies and small dragons are fair game for murder in this whole show so far. She’s literally watching over the future King Aegon III as well. We’re getting another Sansa moment here where a young teenager don’t understand the world yet and just have naive dreams.
I think Viserys' statement about Aegon was a prophecy-like reference to Jon Snow as the Prince who was promised. As his real name was Aegon and he technically played a vital role in the uniting the kingdoms in the time of the Great War against the Night King.
Interesting that Otto realizes Virserys was correct to choose Princess R as his heir. And Alicent realizes that her dying husband never chose her son. Just think ,if the Hightowers had not made a power grab, the dragons may have lived!
@@noops9 she's literally perfect for the role and performs beautifully. If you think she's boring then she's playing the character how she's intended to.
@@JackBlades-gg3zhThat doesn’t equate to her winning an emmy 😂 Her performances are hardly breathtaking or memorable. The only emmy worthy scene in this whole show is Otto’s speech of disappointment in episode 2 and Viserys’ final speech is season 1

Spoiler alert!!!

That shot of daemon pulling up on harrenhal in the rain at night on his dragon was absolutely amazing such a great sweeping shot of the castle.
Reminds me of Drangleic from Dark Souls 2
I like how the episode begins with the scene of the Blackwood boy saying "Aegon Targaryen is no true King" and then the episode ends with that confirmed in the convo between Alicent and Rhaenyra.
Think this episode should be titled "assumptions". Daemon assumed harrenhall would be hard to take bc it's the largest castle within the seven kingdoms but was essentially empty. Alicent assumed the Aegeon, her son, was the prince that was promised making his claim essentially empty
Literally Harranhall in the Game of Thrones was in better shape when Arya Stark visited as cupbearer.
@@WhitneyAllisonGG Well, Daemon asked for reparations. It took hundreds of years, but those reparations came eventually.
TRUE! I also assumed they will be showing the battle of the burning mill but I guess not. 😂
Aegon still has a legitimate claim lol. Throughout the show they repeatedly mention that sons take precedent over daughters in succession battles in this world. Irrespective of whether he's the prince who was promised, he still can claim to be Viserys' heir based on his sex.
Omg! Yes!!!
Daemon visions of his past mistakes hits another level
They really had my guy Aemond just flopping around in 4k 😂
BRUH!!! 😂😂💀
The screams i scrumpt this episode 😩
"I'm taking Harrenhal"
"Oh thank the gods"
I’ve been saying this for 2 years now. Alicent is full ish. She even admitted that Viserys words didn’t make any sense yet chose to run it and usurp the throne. Sometimes people find a reason to do what their heart truly desire and that’s what she did. She only heard what she wanted to hear

Great episode!
Rhanerya's expression change at the very end: "Game on then."
Now she can decide to go to war. She knows that her father uttered the song of fire just before his death. Now this dream more important to her than ever. She promised her council to consider of going a war of dragons. It is now easier for her to decide.
I love rhnys mentioned that no one will remember why this civil even started in the first place
The civil war currently going on overseas: now you feel us
Lies, they keep details of most battles, their record keeping is very good
It was started because they all wanted power and because they had dragons they all thought they could flex their muscles on the regular folks of the kingdom.might make right.
Maybe he did die off screen & that's why Seasmoke is restless 🤷♀️
@@hiontruluv I mean... yeah maybe, but that makes keeping him alive on-screen pointless though.

laenor is as good as dead though. no one but rhaenrya and daemon know he’s alive
I’m glad u noticed too- rhaenyra shrugged off mysaria when she said that bcuz rhaenyra knows that when a dragon is lonely it’s probably bcuz they can no longer feel the connection between their rider… I hope it doesn’t mean that he’s dead

i kind of think rhaenyra sent rayna away to pentos because she kind of cares about her as a daughter and wants her to be safe as she is the vulnerable one without a dragon.
I agree- the most vulnerable went there, including her other children who aren’t adults and cannot ride.
Alicent: “I swear it on the memory of my mother.”
Rhaenyra: 🤔(I once said that)

It’s open to interpretation, and might just be her generally being perceptive and knowing Alicent carries various guilt.

I got the impression she was forgiving her because Alicent feels responsible for her son's death. She wants Alicent to stop blaming herself so she tells her she forgives her. I didn't think it was a literal "hey I don't like you were sleeping with criston but I forgive you for doing that." imo

The battle of burning mill was kind of a bummer. I wish we got to see more
Episode 4!
I actually felt like the impact was more profound just seeing how silly it was what started it and then just silently showing the brutal aftermath as the scene expanded, how many lives lost so unnecessarily. What a waste.
I agree with what @Fabetheway was saying. To actually see a little bit of the actual battle of burning mill would have been good.
Aegon just laughing at aemond when he saw him with his first still, roasting him. Lmao😂
Yep! And me sitting there wondering if Aemond will finally bitch-slap the McShit out of Aegon someday. 😂😂😂
Well she refuse to listen to her father teachings about ruling 😂. Instead she busy making bastards instead of solidifying her claim.

Alicent was trying so hard to confess her sins in the last episode to her dad but was denied so in this episode when her daughter says "I forgive you", it completely shocks her because that was what she was seeking to hear this whole time.
So the part with Misseria talking about Seasmoke being lonely is actually foreshadowing them using the Dragonseeds. IMO 😊
yes
I thought it was foreshadowing that Lanor is dead ?
She sits on the counsel but it’s not like they listen to her
RIP Aaron Bracken. Your sacrifice shall not be forgotten.😢
How is this guy so informed with almost every bit of detail so quickly? Like the intro, who captures the meaning of all the visuals so efficiently.
That look when Alicent realizes she messed up.
Yes, girl, you and your raggedy Daddy made an impulsive, immature boy king.
I noticed in the subtitles that one of Aegon's kings guard knights had the last name Reyne. This is the same Reyne that is from the notorious song, "Rains of Castamere". We get to see one of the Reynes before Tywin Lannister wipes their entire house off the planet
The whole demeanour change of Rhaenyra at the end of that episode 👏🏼👏🏼 Bravo! Let the dance begin 🐉
She already sees her son as a monster when he literally just want a motherly love and comfort. Then again he did call her weak.
Thanks!

For a moment Rhanyera seemed to consider that maybe her dad did change his mind. I wonder if she would have surrendered and bent the knee to Aegon.
She might have. She seems like she just wants what's best for the 7 kingdoms. And if she really believed her dad changed his mind, she might have stepped down.

The Alicent/Rhaenyra scene was so good. Great acting!
Maybe we will find out, if Laenor’s partner comes back, sends word or someone investigates 🤷♀️
I thought Damon’s visions was triggered by touching the Weirwood tree, I couldn’t see him taking a nap at a castle he just took over.
Am I the only that realizes when Alicent said "there's been no mistake" is a callback to last season when she found out that the council has been planning to usurp Rhaenyra regardless? It didn't matter if Viserys didn't talk to Alicent before he passed cause it'll still result to the same current even they're having.
Leana was Daemon’s 2nd wife not first. He killed his first wife in the 1st season😅
Helaena is the only person in King’s Landing who has any sense. She’s also treated like she’s crazy.
I think Seasmoke acting this way is how they want to tell us that Leanor died somwhere offscreen
Yup
I actually thought the episode was mostly mid or slightly above mid and I don’t buy Rhaenyra risking her life just to have a chat with Alicent. Alicent could’ve easily screamed and cried for help after she left regardless Rhaenyra holding a knife. I’m not sure that part was ever in the book. An added scene to have Emma and Olivia interact again. I did like the confusion of Aegon the Conqueror finally being solved.
The parts I did like from the episode -
- Rhaenyra and Mysaria bonding more.
Criston Cole with that stupid haircut and being a douche to Alicent’s brother who called Criston the “knight of comfort.”
Fabien Frankel might be one of the most handsome actors to ever portray such a hated character.
Episode 3: B-
Episode 3 felt like a filler episode before the next big one which will be Episode 4. Ep. 2 was the strongest one so far thanks to the strong acting from Tom, Rhys, and Emma. The next episode is going to be crazy: Battle at Rook’s Rest. If you know the outcome, I give my best to Eve. 😭
Was so waiting on this ❤ I have to watch your reviews and breakdowns immediately after watching a new episode🤣
Thanks! That's awesome!
That would be the only thing that would make him being named Aegon make sense especially since he already had a brother named Aegon
Interesting that Otto realizes Virserys was correct to choose Princess R as his heir. And Alicent realizes that her dying husband never chose her son. Just think ,if the Hightowers had not made a power grab, the dragons may have lived!
Helaena Targaryen, what a well portrayed character. Deserves an Emmy imho.
She's boring 😴
@@noops9 she's literally perfect for the role and performs beautifully. If you think she's boring then she's playing the character how she's intended to.
Absolutely not lmao her acting is nowhere near that of an Emmy performance. She’s okay but that’s it 😂
@@JackBlades-gg3zhThat doesn’t equate to her winning an emmy 😂 Her performances are hardly breathtaking or memorable. The only emmy worthy scene in this whole show is Otto’s speech of disappointment in episode 2 and Viserys’ final speech is season 1
Let's give all of them Emmys then smh. Last week Otto deserved an Emmy. Now this girl?? Cmon now
