    I have one, and a lot of the reason is reputation, not reality. The NA version is much easier to work on, and the 222hp it makes is plenty for drifting. The balance is very very neutral, which makes it a pleasure to drive, and controls easier than a lot of the cars I’ve been in. But it’s also got the most pure feedback I’ve felt on a 90’s car. But maybe I’m just biased

      I agree with you. non turbo 300zx was the car I used learning "spirited driving" . Im honestly surprised everything still works in mine!

    Weight is the z32's drift capability problem. Yes. It the car is very well balanced but changing directions quickly is effected by the car's weight. We just like being able to easily smoke the tires, at will, whenever we feel like having a little fun. ha-ha

    Question: if the 300zx is too heavy can we reduce the weight of the car by stripping out the interior. Will it drift like a nice drifting car

    • @wawalol2729

    • @alexceni377
      @alexceni377 Рік тому +3

      Stripping the rear/hatch area, removing ac compressor, removing the hicas /swapping out the tt power steering pump, and carbon t-tops if you can find them. Will remove a good amount of weight. They’ve got whole lists in the forums though if you wanna get close to 3000lbs. Then bumping up the power to 350-400 you’ll be a rocket.

      S13 front suspension is mcphereson and a downgrade on the Double wishbone front the Z32 has. You can get plenty of steering angle with aftermarket Z32 parts.

    I had a TT 1991 2 door 5-speed. It was a fantastic car. Never drifted or anything like that, but handling and feel it was truly awesome. You sit so low and it really drove like it was on rails. Never felt like a handful. Great surge of torque from about 3500rpm. Had mine tuned with a straight through exhaust. Not too loud. No need for silly blow off valve ‘Pshhh’ sound either (has a recirculating valve’ I think it’s called) which feeds waste back in to reduce turbo lag. Had the 4-wheel steering, but I never really noticed it’s affect when driving. It just went where you pointed it. Put a heavier clutch on it after wearing factory one out which took some getting used to from memory.

  • @BOBimusRex
    @BOBimusRex 11 місяців тому

    How/why is 4 wheel steering detrimental to drifting? It seems to me like it would HELP. My thinking is that while drifting a right hand turn, the steering wheel is turned to the left of the car to keep the front wheels in line with the direction of travel. If that same car in that same turn had 4 wheel steering, then the rear wheels would also turn slightly to the left. Which seems like it would be a good thing in a drift. 🤷‍♂️

    • @arkram8733
      @arkram8733 9 місяців тому +4

      No? It makes drifting incredibly unpredictable. You want a predictable back-end, not one that responds simultaneously with your constant steering inputs in a drift

      I think the idea is that the 4-wheel steering counteracts rear instability (over a certain speed). It keeps the car balanced and the rear wheels turn to aid this and prevent oversteer. That’s my understanding from when I had my 91 TT
