    I was searching for an aftermarket intake, because my gaskets are leaking coolant. Found your website and now I am going to do the throttle body kit too. I have a 91 C350 Centurion (4 door 1 ton bronco) just turned over 100k miles. THANKS!

    just installed the twisted smog box on my 88 460 and what a diference it makes this is a fresh rebiuld only upgreades are a cam from comp cams that works with the ecu and 28 pound injectors. Russell was great to talk to and do business with gotthe box fast and was super easy to put in, after this little bolt on im now looking at the throttle body kit he has so that i can complete this project and have some fun with it. will later put up some mpg numbers but i can say right now its better than the 8 i was getting.

    A friend of mine’s uncle worked at the ford proving grounds when they came out with the efi 460 3/4 an 1 tons, they had to put the restrictions in the intake hoses and inlet to keep the rear winds from blowing up, they had the unrestricted truck running around the proving grounds at over 135 mph, an they got 25 mile to the gallon on the highway

    Cool- I've got a 1997 F350 with a 460 I'm reviving and potentially goosing up for fun. Exhaust gaskets are cooked and I ended up having to cut the EGR tube off (passenger side, haven't started the driver side). I don't have to pass emissions, so all's fair game, so I think I'm going to look at the smog/EGR delete as the first step.
    Before I get all crazy, on upgrades the truck also has what I believe is a PSOM issue (automatic shifts from first to all over hell and gone, but will go manually from 1-2, D) which I need to address before pumping any other cash into it.

      We might of spoke on the phone already, but if not: take a look at the speed sensor in the axle. Those will throw it out. Another thing is the range selector. Those had a recall and need to be updated. The old style had horrible problems. If your speedo is wonky look at the speed sensor to start with.

    • @andym1594
      @andym1594 3 роки тому +2

      @@460efiguys3 yeah thx for that. Shift issue ended up being the PCM... but I got really good at testing everything else in the system. Good to have the beast rolling again. After the EGR delete though it's been stalling in D at idle speeds (warm only, never cold). Pretty sure it's something with the vac and the MAP/PCM expecting a certain vac that isn't there. Good in N and P, but when it's rolling in D/1/R, with engine warm it'll stall if you try and go parking lot speed w/out gassing it. There's a pink vac tube that is hanging and goes back to the MAP. Tried blocking and leaving it open- same thing.

    I’m throwing a 1993 460 in my 78 bronco. Wondering if you know which wires that pass through the firewall into the dash harness need to be used with the 78. I’ll have oil pressure coolant temp, fuel pump, and even power I believe but just looking for advice! I have the harness stripped down to map sensor, hugo, main power, main ground, ignition control module, eec test, and a couple other things. Can’t find any info on it online which dash harness wires should be reused

    • @karljay7473
      @karljay7473 4 роки тому +2

      @@chuckterrell691 Something doesn't seem right. An F350 460 4:10 gears should be a strong puller. I"m guessing you either have the ZF 5 speed or Auto trans, but either way that should be a strong puller. I'd look at the wear and tear on the engine as well as worn out external parts like the exhaust. I had a failed cat on mine. The cat on the 88 is HUGE and it has 4 disks in it. I opened it, tossed out a melted disk and she ran great. Remember, you have a 20+ year old truck, the cat and other things wear out. It wasn't legal to remove a disk from the cat, but a 460 cat was like $1,000 and I have a tig welder, so I just cut it open and removed the melted disk. One thing you can do is change the gears. I went with a deeper 1st gear because I have a GearVendors on mine. One other issue is the net weight of the truck. You should be in the 5~6000 lb range depending on equipment. My ext cab Lariat dually long bed comes in about the 5K lbs range IIRC. It can pull like crazy, but my engine and trans are all new. These are great trucks and well worth going thru. I get a reman engine and trans for about $2K.

    factory power is around 275hp what will this mod gain ,it doesn't have more holes for air .need more air more fuel for more power . i get that you are converting to efi from bank injection . id like to see a 4 barrel or 2 4 barrel intake throttle bodys . back in the day if you increased the carberator size it pulled mor air and fuel . i own a 97 f350 7.5l id like 400hp or 500

    • @oldkaboom7745
      @oldkaboom7745 Рік тому

      That's not exactly true. In "your day" it was common for cars to run like a dog because over-carbing an engine was popular. You need enough vacuum to pull the proper amount of atomized fuel: and more holes doesn't mean you're getting proper air in.
      You may simply lower your air velocity, which incites a plethora of issues.

    A couple years ago I bouhgt an 88 F350 with 460. He had just installed a new long block but when he went to put the top end back toether he couldn't remember how all the injection stuff was supposed to go so he put an Edelbraock carb on it. It has a weird problem. If I set the timing at factory specs it over heats on the highway and doesnt have much power. if I add 4 degrees it runs like a raped ape, doesn't over heat but once warmed up it doesn't want to start. Its firing way to early in the stroke so the started quits turning. It has the OEM ignition on it so my guess is It's missing a sensor somewhere that tells the to retard. If I hope out and move the distributor closer to TDC it starts just fine. Anyone have an idea?

The company doesn’t seem very keen on posting comparison dyno #’s. They’re excuse is that they’re too far away.
