      @@daveb3505 Hi Dave, It really depends on the part, the build, or the show. Often times, they are sold with the project vehicle or engine they were a part of. Sometimes they're reused for different projects. It can vary from build to build and part to part.

    Basic porting and gasket-matching, and a how-to guide on making the most of a carburetor would be interesting. This went from "budget" to "how to use stock rods and not damage expensive parts" build.

      The motor only needs to last long enough to break in the cam and do a couple dyno runs, then it's probably going to get either stuffed on a shelf for the next decade, or disassembled and the loaned parts handed back to Trick Flow.

    Be sure to use a hardened oil pump drive shaft. I didn't and it left me stranded on the road once. The drive comes from the distributor which is turned by the cam. An aftermarket pump needs more power and the stock shaft is not up to the task.

      Those were great numbers with the cast iron heads and a warmed over stock short block. Similar to the stock numbers from the golden era of 1969 to 1971. This 460 would pull at least as good as the old Thunder Jet 429 engines back then which was kind of a detuned 429 Cobra Jet.

    the only thing they don't tell you about the E3 plugs is that they promote detonation because the increased mass of the enlarged side electrode acts as a heat soak, and runs the electrode hotter for the same heat range of plug. that's where the improvements come on the computer, but if you drive up in the low mountains on a hot humid day, the motor will ping like a popcorn maker under high load, low throttle lugging. so when you reduce your timing advance to compensate, those so called improvements are out the window. just stick to OEM style resistor plugs and change them every 12k if it's a driver. they have been trying to sell goofy spark plugs since day one, and they never catch on. for a reason.

    • @deeremeyer1749
      @deeremeyer1749 Рік тому

      You don't use a torque plate "boring out a block". It's used when finish-honing and is only "recommended" for "high performance" POS "thin-wall casting" blocks with 4 head bolts per cylinder "bored out to the max". Meaning all Ford "high performance" OHV V8s.

    • @albertgaspar627
      @albertgaspar627 Рік тому

      @@deeremeyer1749Ah, that must be why torque plates are always used on Chevy Gen One engines with 5 bolts per cylinder :) Boring out the block does all the work, finish honing merely leaves a surface for the oil film, and if you want ring seal to last beyond 10,000 miles, professionals use a torque plate. The only time a torque plate is ever skipped on a real engine build is when the engine design bolts the head into the block's walls, like Pontiac blocks. Otherwise, when the head bolts go into the deck, you torque plate to replicate the distortion to the bore.
