Sounds a lot better without the collectors leaking.
This project has been great, seriously well done Cone
Awesome job Cone, great to see her run.
Awesome project Cone! I have been enjoying this build.
Congrats on the progress. First startup is always a good milestone to hit!
Once again very pleased with how you do things. Great job tying all the systems together into a functioning vehicle.
Great job as always on the build and the video series ! I taught him well ! LOL
If only this swap video was posted 5 months ago 🤦♂️ good work sir!! I just did the 460 efi and 5 speed swap in my 1978 bronco, ended up stripping the OEM wiring harness and depinning everything I didn’t need. Guess I shoulda bought a wiring harness lol. But it all works!
Good work going through that thing yourself, that harness looked like a doozy to go through, hope it drives sweet as for ya now.
Great work, Cone! Jessi has come so far
Pretty good little project there.
IT LIIIIIIIIIIIVESSS!!!!!!!!
*congratz!*
This is super cool to see Jessi run again, can't wait to watch along as you make her drive worthy.
Didn't realize there was a company out there that converted the harnesses. I put a 94 460 and e4od trans in my 68 f100 and went through and converted the harness myself. Took a lot of messing around but it's actually pretty straight forward. I had to use an 8.8 axle out of a f150 so I could use the speed sensor for the trans to shift. Can't just hook the speed sensor in the axle to the pcm though, you have to first run it through a psom (speedometer) out of a f150 of that year to convert the signal into something the pcm can read. It was a cluster but I got it all running and driving. Pretty cool to see others doing the same swaps
Stant gas cap! I assembled those (plus oil and radiator caps) one summer when I was home from college.
you could have put together a piece on this very truck! lol
listen to that smoooooth idling, can't wait for it to get back on the road!
once it ran for a bit it really smoothed out, I was worried the stiff motor mounts would be annoying but seems like it'll be nice.
@@ConeDodger240 I imagine once everything gets set in it will be a sweet heart cruising down the road
Congrats! First start excitement. Just add a tee fiting to have both oil pressure gage and idiot light. I always liked having both.
The gauge I used in the 240 and will probably use here functions as both it's pretty cool and you can adjust what level the oil pressure warnings should be.
So how did you wire your fuel pump? Does it just run whenever the key is on?
I just got a Jeep UK commercial. 🤔
Really enjoying the ramp truck build. It's nice to see a no-frills type of build as opposed to the crazy stuff they do on the network shows.
What are you expecting as far as drivability or performance out of the new drivetrain?
The drivetrain should make it a ton easier to drive, and not have to stress it to keep up with traffic.
At the end of the day its still a 400k mile motor, and i'm sure it wont be absolutely perfect, but its a great basis towards getting it to be a super reliable rig.
You need to upgrade to the efi guys low profile throttle body. Check out Bad Tree Productions, I have a few videos with my 460 truck on there
how's it been, reliable?, mpg?
I was wondering how close the ECU was to passenger feet as was worried it might get knocked. Glad to hear it'll boxed in nice and safe.
I wonder if it's possible to like, shim the firewall mount to angle it up a bit
Perspective is tough, but it is very much so out of the way where it is, boxing it in there should be no worries.
@@ConeDodger240 Yeah it's hard to see over camera what the space is like but that's always gonna be a problem when in enclosed spaces so no worries.
No clutch interlock on the ignition? I guess being able to move the vehicle with the starter motor can be useful in some situations :)
Almost every car i've driven has been this way so i'm pretty used to it.
why would you send in the harness to someone ,pay money for them to eliminate some connections that you didnt need? If you have the wiring diagram for factory harness you can easily do this yourself
did you get a wiring diagram for the harness? I have a 460 in a 1990 motor home I just bought and the fuel injection system is not getting power your video is very helpful I know what to look for thanks
His harness didn't come with a diagram unfortunately. If your harness is OEM though, you are likely dealing with systems that my harness no longer uses, as it bypasses the safety checks and fuel pump relay system of the OEM setup.
I was studying this thread before deciding not to make the standalone harness myself, so it might be helpful to you : www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1423515-making-a-stand-alone-efi-harness-pics.html
@@ConeDodger240 Thanks for your response, the motor is in a motorhome. I'm not getting power to the computer and the wires have been cut too many times to count (Hackers reek havoc) I'm just trying to make since of the place the power comes from then where it goes.
Make sure the main fuse box has power to the terminal on the side of it. If it does, next look for a larger red with green stripe wire that goes into the fuse box. That should have 12 volts with key on. If you have power at both those locations, trace your grounds. Also make sure to check the pcm diode, and the relay for the pcm. There might also be a fuse but I'm pretty sure there's just a diode
Hey , I’m trying to install this stand alone harness and I’ve run into some questions- can’t seem to understand what a few of the wires are for
Happy to help, hit me up on email conedodger240@gmail.com I'll see what I can help with
"idiot light what's that.......doh"
Cone you need to stop this I'm only half paying attention and you are making some sense.
I did not watch a lot of the streams with the newish camera but it is really good. and It really helped to see what was going on, 1st person or close up.
oh i never hit enter
so i have a 1969 f350 ramptruck and i keep going back and forth to either rebuild, swap in a 460 or now im thinking getting a idi and using one wire and calling it a day.. hmm hows your build going? would you still do it?/beside the enjoyment of doing it all yourself?
I am really happy with the 460 efi. There's been some issues here and there but nothing unexpected considering the age and 450k miles on this engine. I think it's more to do with my personal preference of gas motors over diesels though. There are plenty of reasons to go idi or Cummins and if I was going to use the truck more commercially that's the route I would have gone. For pleasure of driving it though, I think you can't beat shifting through the gears with a big block.
i got you i have the same motor from an rv with only 30K on it but really trying to decide if i want to go that route or not thanks for all your imput and video! I do know forsure im only gettling around 10 miles on a quart of oil on the 390 and welp shes worn out so ill be needing to do something soon @@ConeDodger240
Hey I’m interested in the fuel pump stuff did you use factory fuel tanks with fuel pumps in them
I used the factory fuel tanks, fuel lines and fuel pumps from the 96 donor
Okay well that wasn’t to helpful I put mine in a 77 but I don’t plan on using factory fuel tank.
@@nicholspullingteam You're going to need to go from scratch on that side, 460 efi is a fuel return system, not dead head, so it needs line to and and from. It's regulated on the rail so you won't need to do an in tank regulator, can just use either a retrofit in tank pump or a remote pump.
ConeDodger240 I can read your whole reply it won’t let me click on the read more. But ya I was planning on doing a fuel return. Did the efi Guys harness have the fuel pump harness to plug it into. Or did you make that up yourself?
@@nicholspullingteam It did not have any fuel pump provisions, I had to make that circuit myself.
