I agree with the OP entirely! You not only give useful info, but almost equally as important, you deliver your info in a way that makes sense and is entertaining enough to keep my attention (no small feat!). You lay things out in a way I can understand and you do it better than any other guides I've come across. Thank you for your hard work.

This is definitely one of the better "guide" videos out there. I see way too many of them called that but are really just videos to show off.
Most of the ones I've seen try too hard to be enthusiastic but miss the point by presenting a class at maximum level with everything unlocked and using all of the jargon of a veteran player. This is really confusing for someone just starting the game who doesn't know all the lingo to the game yet.

Don't sleep on Sleep! I find it *very* useful in dungeons, but only when things go wrong - if the tank goes down, casters, and Red Mages in particular, can quickly and easily CC all the enemies. Sure, the other DPS is likely to fire off another AoE and wake things back up, but three Sleeps often buy enough time for the healer (or me, as the Rez Mage) to pick the tank back up and get things stable. I feel like my success rate is *way* over 50%. Of course, you'll sometimes run into someone who'd rather wipe and use that as an excuse to have a bad attitude, but I find a proper recovery much more fun than the alternative.
Fair point! In the right situation sleep can be very helpful, but it can be very difficult to use as well in such a situation! 😁
I sometimes use swiftcast + sleep as a mage replacement of the melee dps and tank kicking ability to stop aoes 😄

I'm a main Bard ^^ ( Right now it's 90 because of the 90 boost and I was doing slowly msq + duty roulette ) I recently decided to go for Red Mage onward to Shadowbringer and made a vow to go on until near the end of Endwalker to play again my Bard to challenge myself on a new playstyle. It's a bit challenging especially to pass from ranged dps to magical ranged dps. Your guide is very well explain and I will make sure to watch as well your 51-90 for Red Mage. I actually just bought the game with endwalker today after playing the free trial for about a month or so, and I just unlocked red mage today! Glad I found this video at the right time

Now dabbling in RDM, very helpful to help in the rotation. I have a habit of holding onto my long cooldown stuff

Indeed, it is usually effective to use even the longest cooldowns aggressively!
Although of course, defensive things need to be saved for when they are necessary!

i would say this is one of the best, if not the best guide for the class. Im a returning player and we all know what that feels when you are playing your high lvl character again. Red mage is my favorite job, including ninja, but it was overwhelming to see my action bars with all kinds of abilities and so forth. This guide, simple, detailed and well explained mechanics saved my bacon.

I just unlocked red mage, and really enjoyed how you went about this video. The only improvement I would say is if you could put your aoe dummy gameplay for an example 15 seconds, and put the skills as they are happening into an image on the video to follow closely an example of how a rotation plays out.

I deemed it more necessary to include more single target footage in the summary, since that combines a few things taught in the video together, where the aoe part in the summary is more a brief reminder since the area of effect section of over a minute does include the aoe rotation as is 😊
I do see how it is a bit confusing though that the single target demonstration continues into the aoe summary at the end, so thank you for the suggestion!😁

I had no idea it was such a core part of the rotation!

And here I was alternating between the aoe spell of one element and the slow spell of the other to build up my balance gauge faster... I didn't consider that jolt would be better thanks to its higher damage
I see how you would get to that conclusion! The fast aoe spells generate weirdly more mana, but as you said, jolts greater damage is a worthy trade off! 😊

@@CaetsuChaijiCh Sorry if that came off as rude, it's my own misunderstanding. Are the arrows meant to represent the rotation or what you are swapping skills out for?
@@slimbingi1470 The arrows represent a rotation! And don't worry about it!
The arrows as seen at, for example. 7:19 refer to which order you use the spells in. First fast (Jolt, Verfire or Verstone), then slow (Verthunder or Veraero).
Similarly, at 7:29 you see the melee combo sequence: Riposte, then Zwerchhau then Redoublement.
At 7:55 on the left you see the 2 target order: Fast (Veraero2, Verthunder2, Verfire or Verstone. Yes the naming is weird), then slow (Verthunder or Veraero).
On the right you see the 3+ target order: Fast AoE spell (Verthunder2 or Veraero2), then Slow AoE spell (Scatter).
Usually in my guides, I present a whole sequence of these with often 10+ icons in connection with each other to showcase an "opener", but Red Mage uniquely has so few tools to use at level 50 that there isn't really much to say about the opener, which is why this is missing

Wow, half the commenters found this guide after switching from WHM to RDM as their first DPS job... that's me, I'm half the commenters :P
And to echo what the other WHM mains have been saying, thanks! Red Mage (and really DPS classes in general) just look like A LOT after dozens of hours of playing healer, but you broke down the brass tacks of everything I need to worry about to start with, and now I'm confident I'll be able to pick up the rest as I level the class (instead of, you know, getting the entire kit dumped on me the way the other guides tend to do it)

Ah... Been making the mistake of using jolt and then scatter on pulls not realising jolt and verthunder/aero II have same casting time 😭😭

I've never gotten a proc for verstone 😂 outside of HoH anyway. Idky. I just got my red mage to 70 *shrug* idk what I'm doing wrong but lol. I always get verfire it's weird.
Well that sounds a bit strange and surprising! I suppose randomness is just gonna be randomness at the end of the day 😅 the exact times I can't get a proc is if I'm actively trying to get a proc to show something so maybe it is because you are looking at verstone too much making it afraid? 😄
For a more serious response, my best suggestion is make sure you use veraero regularly, since it is the only way to proc verstone 😊 if you aren't already of course!

Cause the first time I got verstone in HoH I SCREAMED cause I thought that spell was just there for decoration .. kinda like sleep ;D but I have no idea why it's never been available to me. My mana is almost always completely leveled so .... I guess I intimidate it. What a .... tough situation -chuckles-

Yeah if you mean a job that plays on a priority system instead of a fixed rotation! Red Mage is definitely a more priority based job! 😊
One thing I find kind of lame, Sprint erases your Dualcast buff if you have it
It is a very weird result of sprint not being defined quite as an ability, not quite as a weaponskill or spell 😅 it is super weird and annoying!
