In addition to reviewing this excellent video, I strongly suggest going to a training dummy and taking all the skills off your hotbar, then adding them back one-by-one in leveling order as you try them out against the dummy. Don't add the next skill until you're confident you understand how to use the current one. It doesn't take nearly as long as one might think, and between that measured approach and Caetsu's guidance, you'll be slicing and dicing your way through everything the game throws at you soon enough.
@@tsbulmer That's a great suggestion and a very effective one. I came back to the comments to add this, as it's what I did and now I'm finding actually easy to follow the guide. Also just studying the guide one section at a time until you're comfortable, and then move onto the next.

Thank you for this! I was initially overwhelmed when sorting out my hotbar (I had similar trouble with dancer and sage initially) and had no idea what I was supposed to do. Like with sage having names mostly in Greek, samurai's abilities are just sounds to me, so it takes a while for them to "stick." But it turns out it is way more intuitive than I suspected. I jumped into a duty support Porta Decumana and just did combos the whole time, practicing "weaving" things like the damage-over-time and setting up the buffs and everything for more damage. Then I tried the alliance raid roulette (raids and large trials make me anxious) and did just fine. Feels good to play samurai! I really like how fluid it feels. hi, just got into the game and this has been the best video to explain a class i used a skip on reaper so i could experience it and the rest of the classes. This video has taught me more about this class in 10 minutes than all the other ones i have tried to follow and the best part is the hotbar setup is amazing. Thank you for this video so much I was so complicated with all those buttons when I got into level 50 lol I’m still confused after listening to this so I shall watch again
It is very normal to get a bit overwhelmed with all those actions and their names 😊 I have heard others find it helpful for their memory to practice some of the things I explain in the video, on a striking dummy themselves as they go! I hope you have a great time with samurai! 😊
@Caetsu Chaiji Ch. I really want to master samurai bc its such a cool class!! but my brain did not register all of that lol but I love your hot bars how did you set it up like that!
Depending on what you mean: - You can add extra hotbars in the HUD layout under the system list ingame, and then stack the hotbars like I did. - when you have an element selected in HUD layout, there's a cogwheel you can use for extra adjustments like scale to make them bigger - I specifically use enormous hot bars for these guides to make it easier to follow, and don't recommend it for real play as it might be problematic for seeing the game 😅 - Although not that significant with just the level 50 toolkit, I use a Corsair Scimitar MMO mouse with a certain layout that allows me to easily reach the right side if my hot bars. - in keybinds under system you can set... Well... Keybinds! My second hotbar has the same key as the first, but with shift modifier. Third hotbar uses Alt 😊 I think I talk a bit more about my keybinds and theory on placements in this video ua-cam.com/video/vi9f36t-Qrc/v-deo.html if you are interested in this 😁
I hope you do enjoy it if that is the case! 😊 Although from what I've seen, dragoon isn't changing that much, so if you still like it it might be fine!
I've mostly been playing SAM in raids, so the AOE section was super duper helpful for the very rare occassion I feel like taking it in dungeons (which might be pretty often since I'm levelling an alt at the moment).
I'm glad to hear that! I hope you have just as much fun leveling the job a second time! 😊 And that 3-2-tenka-goken rotation is probably one of the most unintuitive rotations in the game 😄
agagafa i started playing ffxiv bc of friends and between both of them one plays samurai and one plays machinist. I had just finished the first dlc so decided to try samurai out. Its a totally different set then what im used to since ive only played conjurer/white mage since starting. This guide was really helpful thank you!
God i wish this job started at a lower level so i could take my time learning these abilities over time. Not only am i new to ffxiv, but mmos as a whole. Watching this was super helpful but also broke my brain trying to keep up with the pace of the video. I’ll definitely have to practice it for a while before it clicks.
You could intentionally queue into lower level content to try the job at a lower level where less buttons are present 😊 you could also use duty support for this if you want to control the pace of the dungeon while you practice! I'm glad you found it helpful though! And enjoy your journey with samurai! 😊
Yay! I have spent the past weekend trying to understand Ninja, but I hope to go back to Samurai and understand it better now that my American mind is better able to understand the japanese terminology :)
I try my best to show the tooltips on the screen for this guide as much as possible because I know the biggest barrier is that none of the names make sense so they are difficult to memorize 😊 If you are still struggling with Ninja, I do have a level 1-50 guide for the job, although it is from back in Shadowbringers, it is *mostly* accurate still! I do intend to remake the guide of course, but just in case you can't wait! ua-cam.com/video/-dLecdr8PG8/v-deo.html Maybe you already saw this guide too!😄
It can be very overwhelming to pick up a job starting at level 50. Remember, you don't have to be perfect immediately, it will come with more practice! So don't worry too much and remember to have fun! I hope you enjoy learning samurai! 😄
I am returning to the game after a long long break. I was working on Samurai when I left and he is almost level 70. I forgot everything about the game almost. I wish I knew a discord server with seasoned players to help me along. A bonus if they had a good Samurai player. Plus I am trying to switch to playing with a controller. I remember playing ff11 way back in the day on xbox with a controller. I really enjoyed my time in Final Fantasy games.
Welcome back to the game! Unless you have more specific questions, I have a feeling this video and the 51-90 guide I also have for the job should be able to catch you up to the level you were at! If you do have specific questions, there is a good chance I can answer them. You are also welcome in the discord server in the video description 😊
Cheers man great video. I'd just like to add that setting up Hotkeys so the combos flow is very important for your brain to deal with it all. If you have them all over the place your really making your life much tougher than it should be. Also not a huge fan of modifier keys such as alt1-alt2 for combos, I prefer to use these for healing/mounts etc. off to the side. I keep all my main dps skills 12345, QERSF and then any defensives, Shift Space, Shift R, Shift E, Shift F etc AoE combos fit nicely on mouse buttons and just feel good there tbh. Feel free to add shift M3/ Alt M3 I can't seem to get mouse scroll in there as a hotkey in this game, Which is a shame because mouse up/down, shift m -u/d, alt m - u/d are the best keys for dps cooldowns imo. If you do wanna use alt modifiers for combat I'd stick to alt E, alt R, alt X/ alt C it just feel better in combat, trust. So it looks like this on bars in this order - Bar 2 - Q,R,E,S - Yuki/Gek/Kash/Meikyo Bar 1 - 1,2,3,4, - Hak/Jin/Shif/Iajutsu This way they line up nicely! Hope this helps some people!
Good suggestions 😊 The difficult part is that each person finds different keybinds work best for them, so I don't try to dictate what others do with them! 😅 Just for me personally I even use an mmo mouse, and without knowing that it can look outright impossible how I reach some of my further away binds! 😅
I'm sure you could still learn samurai without understanding Japanese, although memorizing the actions in a different way might be helpful! 😊 Thank you!
Best video by far..tried watching others and I just clicked off in a minute..your videos are always so much better to learn with. I also started maining gunbreaker thanks to your vid
Well, the good news is that the basics of samurai takes up quite a lot of learning samurai, so that might be part of why it is a bit confusing to start 😊
Thanks man seriously i just got into ff14 in the last few months and i was a summoner but i wanted a change or pace and didnt want to be a caster and i wanted to try samurai because it looked flasy
I have starter guides for all the jobs! This is the one for ninja, it covers level 1 to 50, and includes a summary at the end, although I do recommend checking the whole video if you want to be sure! ua-cam.com/video/rPkaWD-Emto/v-deo.htmlsi=1UQxjt3VURR8Arvr If you simply search for my channel name (or even just Caetsu) followed by a job name, often something useful will pop up!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh hmm makes me wanna put the work in for samurai lol ninja and monk are more my taste because it’s fast pace but I’ll keep at it thanks man
Do you have a preferred layout for keyboard you can share for a samurai beginner. Thought I was gonna play controller but not sure due to after playing monk to 50 and not like the right trigger switching to get to other important moves so i think im gonna swap to mouse. Also is there a preferred mouse to use or no? Awesome guide by the way
In short I kind of use the hotbar layouts shown in the videos 😅 The keybinds are 1-0 and - and +, and then the second hotbar is the same, but with shift as the modifier. The third is with alt. However I use an mmo mouse with a thumb grid, specifically a corsair scimitar. I customized it so that 123 on the mouse is 0-+, and 456 on the mouse is 789. That way the mouse handles the right half of the bar, while the keyboard handles the left. Whether that is better for you I cannot say 😅 Thank you!
@CaetsuChaijiCh thats a coincidence since i just bout a corsair scimitar for my 1st gaming mouse. Im gonna give your layout a try and see how well i adapt to it. Thnx for the help
Download the software the mouse needs, called iCue, from the corsair website. In that application you can set up a profile for the mouse where you can customize what each button does. So for example you make it so the 1 button on the mouse actually is equivalent to pressing the 0 key on the keyboard. So you're actually just making it so the mouse presses the appropriate button, rather than binding the hot keys in the game to the mouse directly 😊
Personally I played through stormblood as a red mage, but I can absolutely see the aesthetic appeal of doing it as samurai! In fact, I know some players feel compelled to choose an "appropriate job" for each expansion, and they would probably have played samurai too!
You should be doing tutorials on Quantum Physics with how you break down a fairly complex rotation so seamlessly. It doesn't help that the action names are Japanese-like words either! LoL
Thanks so much for this video!! This is my first melee job so i’m curious, is moving between flank and rear only for bosses and not trash adds? I’m trying to anticipate where in my combos I’ll need to move, like after gekko and before kasha
It's most important on bosses, but if you for any reason are performing gekko or Kasha on a regular mob, in a group setting, it is better to move for the positional if you can. But it is always more important to use your attack on time, regardless of the fight! If you aren't in the positional on time, use the attack anyway! 😊 Generally I think it's a good idea to start thinking of where you need to stand after hakaze (the step one combo step.) then you have plenty of time to both think about it and move into position 😁 Thank you so much, I am glad you found the guide helpful! I hope these tips help you! 😊
In situations where there are two or more Samurais in your party, does Higanbana tick for each Samurai? I've seen a boss with multiple Higanbana on them, is there anyway to know which one is yours? Or is it more about sort of internalizing the timer in your head?
All damage over time and healing over time on a target ticks together every three seconds on a separate clock. This means if the boss has multiple higanbanas you might only see one big number, or perhaps two numbers. I am not entirely sure, but I can say you can probably not tell which one is yours on the damage ticks. You can tell which one is your debuff on the enemy from the colored timer text though! 😊
This is helping me to gradually get to grips with Samurai, thank you, but I'm confused by the single target summary at 10:18. You initially show 8 actions on screen, but you only mention the top row of 4 then move on to the next screen (gaining Sen) - what about the other 4 actions on the bottom row? And in the next screen when you say: "make your best effort to use MS only for Gekko and Kasha if you can", and then "use Yukikaze just before MS", I'm afraid I'm totally lost as nothing on the screen seems to match that. Where do those actions fit in the rotation?
The opener 8 actions shown are performed in the footage itself. You simply do all 8 in the sequence reading left to right, top to bottom 😊 The summary typically summarizes the things that have been talked about throughout the video, so sometimes I get a bit fast with some of the concepts in the summary 😅 In general, you want to use cooldowns that allow you to do more damage, as soon as possible. But at the same time, you also want to make the most of said cooldowns. Meikyo shisui allows you to gain damage by skipping significant portions of the filler steps in the combos, but if you already have the yukikaze sen, you could use meikyo shisui, gekko, kasha, Midare Setsugekka, and then gekko or kasha again, allowing you to spend meikyo shisui on your most valuable attacks, rather than spend part of it on yukikaze. However, sometimes you are caught in a position where you would have to delay meikyo shisui by, say, 15 seconds to actually do so. Another angle is if you have the yukikaze sen, and either the one from gekko or kasha, you could use meikyo shisui, followed by gaining the third sen, Midare, and then gekko and kasha, which is just as good 😊 The footage that plays in the summary of my guides is often a clean up to 3minute demonstration with opener, filler and bursts and everything with minimal cutting. So sometimes the thing that is mentioned in the summary voice over doesn't happen in the actual demonstration until a minute later for example I hope some of this helps! 😊😅 Also good luck with learning samurai!
I think the hardest part is getting acquainted with all the strange action names, but if you think the job looks cool and you want to learn it, I am sure you can do it! 😊
@@CaetsuChaijiCh alright i got it down!! Lol! I’ve played 4 different classes so far and this by far my favorite! I play console and the best way by memorizing imo is remember what action are in the hot bar and then write them down like mortal kombat combo sheet lol. Rn i got, ❌⬇️❌⭕️🔼⬇️⏹️⬆️➡️ Lmao I’m melting dudes rn
It seems to me that we would prefer to apply Fugetsu before the first use of Higanbana - since that increases its long-term damage by 10%. And also it seems to me that you would want to apply Fuka as early as possible in the fight to increase your attack speed. Why then does the opener begin with using Meikyo Shisui to *skip* applying both buffs???
Meikyo Shisui has an added bonus effect of causing Gekko to apply the buff from Jinpu (the +10% damage bonus), and Kasha to apply the buff from Shifu (the attack speed buff) just on top of what Gekko and Kasha already does. (This is mentioned at 4:48 ) This is also the reason why it is important to start with Gekko before using Higanbana if you use Meikyo Shisui, while if you *don't* use Meikyo Shisui, then doing the speed buff first so you can more quickly get both buffs up is preferred (As seen at 3:32 ) I hope this makes sense!
It is okay if it feels a bit overwhelming. If you are not used to Melee jobs, then any positionals will feel problematic to deal with, too. Just keep in mind that Samurai has just the 2 positionals, and at max level, only Reaper performs less positionals than Samurai amongst the melee 😊 If you find the combos overwhelming, you could also try a job like Dragoon to get acquainted with combos at lower levels, unless the confusion stems from the names of the combos being difficult!
One question tho about melding credendum gears what should I put? (Got weapon higan/chest and hand going for leg n feet soon then rest jewelry accessories later)
If a gear piece has excess space for a full critical hit materia, it should always take priority if possible. After that, if you are aiming for a specific gcd range, then skill speed materia can help you reach it. If you really have to, you can also spend slots that could fit critical hit if you are really hurting for space. After that, meld determination where you can, and direct hit otherwise. Optimally you want determination slightly higher than direct hit, so if you really want to optimize, you can work around this as well! 😊
Hmm I'm not actually sure since it's been so long, but it is extremely likely that it is the first step of the endwalker samurai relic weapon or something like that! 🤔
Well that's part of it yes 🤔 the thing is that the number of Sen you have leads to different sen finishers, and two of them are relevant on single target 😅
Great video, but the slight up-talking becomes annoying after a while. Might be from reading off your script with an unnatural inclination? Regardless, thanks for the info! :)
Thank you! And thank you for bringing that up. I sometimes notice it when I do it, but not always 😅 I always try to improve and make better videos, so thats another thing thats worth keeping track of I suppse! I'm glad you still found the video helpful! 😊
I swear man. this game has way too many skills and stuff. It get super confusing trying to remember everything and even more so trying to hold modifier keys. it seems like it was made for controller or an MMO mouse specifically.
Without an mmo mouse, it often helps to rebind some of the buttons on the far right of the hot bar to buttons closer to where your hand is, like Q E R F and so on! But it can be difficult to plan these things out indeed 😅
I remade this guide for Dawntrail, as a full 50-100 guide that also includes all the starter stuff as usual! Find the link below!

Thank you 😁
As a returning player after an almost 2 year break this is very much appreciated ☺️
Welcome back to the game! I'm glad my guide could catch you up! 😄
Thank you for this video so much I was so complicated with all those buttons when I got into level 50 lol I’m still confused after listening to this so I shall watch again
It is very normal to get a bit overwhelmed with all those actions and their names 😊
I have heard others find it helpful for their memory to practice some of the things I explain in the video, on a striking dummy themselves as they go!
I hope you have a great time with samurai! 😊
@Caetsu Chaiji Ch. I really want to master samurai bc its such a cool class!! but my brain did not register all of that lol but I love your hot bars how did you set it up like that!
Depending on what you mean:
- You can add extra hotbars in the HUD layout under the system list ingame, and then stack the hotbars like I did.
- when you have an element selected in HUD layout, there's a cogwheel you can use for extra adjustments like scale to make them bigger - I specifically use enormous hot bars for these guides to make it easier to follow, and don't recommend it for real play as it might be problematic for seeing the game 😅
- Although not that significant with just the level 50 toolkit, I use a Corsair Scimitar MMO mouse with a certain layout that allows me to easily reach the right side if my hot bars.
- in keybinds under system you can set... Well... Keybinds! My second hotbar has the same key as the first, but with shift modifier. Third hotbar uses Alt 😊
I think I talk a bit more about my keybinds and theory on placements in this video ua-cam.com/video/vi9f36t-Qrc/v-deo.html if you are interested in this 😁
@Caetsu Chaiji Ch. Thank you!! bc I just got back to ffxiv and I totally don't understand how keybinds work lol
Samurai is complex as hell, thank you sir, the way you explain makes it a little easier lol
It is quite a big jump to learn! I'm glad my guide helped you! Thank you! 😄
Thank you. Im levelling Samurai as a maybe alternative for my main Dragoon for Dawntrail.
I hope you do enjoy it if that is the case! 😊
Although from what I've seen, dragoon isn't changing that much, so if you still like it it might be fine!
thank you SO much!!
Enjoy your time with samurai! 😄
Really really thank you for the effort and amazing starter guide thumps up mate 👍
I'm glad you found it helpful! Thank you! 😄👍
Just started playing again. Thank you for this great video.
I'm glad you found it helpful!
And welcome back to Eorzea! I hope you have fun! 😄
Thank you so much this helped me get into my Samurai
I'm glad you found it helpful! I hope you have lots of fun with your journey as Samurai! 😄
And that 3-2-tenka-goken rotation is probably one of the most unintuitive rotations in the game 😄
Tremendous help, thank you for the guide truly.
I'm glad you found it helpful! Thank you! ^^
agagafa i started playing ffxiv bc of friends and between both of them one plays samurai and one plays machinist. I had just finished the first dlc so decided to try samurai out. Its a totally different set then what im used to since ive only played conjurer/white mage since starting. This guide was really helpful thank you!
I'm glad my guide helped you get started! 😁 I hope you enjoy your journey with samurai!
You are awsome thank you for this you were so specific very well explained the combos are so smooth I love you so much thank you❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 😄
I'm glad my guide helped you, and I hope you enjoy learning samurai! 😁
@@CaetsuChaijiCh it was so confusing I'm having so much fun now thank you☺️💖
Beautifully explained! Thank you so much!
I'm glad you found it helpful! Thank you!
Amazing tutorial ,thanks, love your videos, some love from Brasil ❤
Thank you so much!😄 I am glad you found it helpful! 😄😊
As a returner player who switched from pc to ps5 this was super helpful, only stopped playing for 2 months and I forgot everything xD
I'm glad my guide could help you back on track! 😁
Thanks for this, was really helpful.
I'm glad to hear that! I hope you enjoy playing Samurai! 😄
Palace of The Dead would be good for you, I think! It starts you at low levels and you gradually progress.
This is an amazing guide as I just started SAM, however my head hurts
Thank you! I am glad to hear that! 😄
And yeah, quite a lot of confusing attack names 😅
Just subscribed. Keep up the good work! This helped me so much
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found my guide helpful! 😄
I hope you enjoy your journey with samurai! 😁
Yay! I have spent the past weekend trying to understand Ninja, but I hope to go back to Samurai and understand it better now that my American mind is better able to understand the japanese terminology :)
I try my best to show the tooltips on the screen for this guide as much as possible because I know the biggest barrier is that none of the names make sense so they are difficult to memorize 😊
If you are still struggling with Ninja, I do have a level 1-50 guide for the job, although it is from back in Shadowbringers, it is *mostly* accurate still! I do intend to remake the guide of course, but just in case you can't wait!
ua-cam.com/video/-dLecdr8PG8/v-deo.html
Maybe you already saw this guide too!😄
Just started on Xbox and this guide is amazingly helpful
Welcome to the game! And thank you, I'm glad you think so! 😄
Perfect video 😊
Thank you so much! 😄
Samurai is the main reason I wanna play ff14 but I feel overwhelmed by the game as a whole. So many things to learn
You are also welcome in the discord server in the video description 😊
very helpful
I'm glad to hear that! Thank you!
I keep all my main dps skills 12345, QERSF and then any defensives, Shift Space, Shift R, Shift E, Shift F etc
AoE combos fit nicely on mouse buttons and just feel good there tbh.
Feel free to add shift M3/ Alt M3
I can't seem to get mouse scroll in there as a hotkey in this game, Which is a shame because mouse up/down, shift m -u/d, alt m - u/d are the best keys for dps cooldowns imo.
If you do wanna use alt modifiers for combat I'd stick to alt E, alt R, alt X/ alt C it just feel better in combat, trust.
So it looks like this on bars in this order -
Bar 2 - Q,R,E,S - Yuki/Gek/Kash/Meikyo
Bar 1 - 1,2,3,4, - Hak/Jin/Shif/Iajutsu
This way they line up nicely!
Hope this helps some people!
Good suggestions 😊
The difficult part is that each person finds different keybinds work best for them, so I don't try to dictate what others do with them! 😅 Just for me personally I even use an mmo mouse, and without knowing that it can look outright impossible how I reach some of my further away binds! 😅
Great video. I learned that since I don't speak Japanese, I should choose a different class
I'm sure you could still learn samurai without understanding Japanese, although memorizing the actions in a different way might be helpful! 😊
Thank you!
Nice video ^^
Thank you!
Best video by far..tried watching others and I just clicked off in a minute..your videos are always so much better to learn with. I also started maining gunbreaker thanks to your vid
I'm glad to hear that! Thank you! And I do hope you enjoy learning samurai as well! 😊
Kind of confusing, but on the other hand I find that more complex rotations are more engaging.
I'm glad my guide helped you get started with samurai then! I can imagine it was a big change!
I switched my job from ninja to samurai and so far I find this less complicated than the ninja class
Ninja is certainly a lot more frontloaded with its complexity so that makes good sense! 😊
@@CaetsuChaijiCh so far both classes are fun to use although it requires a lot of button combinations 😅
Forget Zepla, THIS is the channel for newbs
I assume that is a good thing, in which case thank you so much! 😄😁
Awesome video man dps is like learning how to play chess do you have one for ninja by chance
I have starter guides for all the jobs! This is the one for ninja, it covers level 1 to 50, and includes a summary at the end, although I do recommend checking the whole video if you want to be sure!
ua-cam.com/video/rPkaWD-Emto/v-deo.htmlsi=1UQxjt3VURR8Arvr
If you simply search for my channel name (or even just Caetsu) followed by a job name, often something useful will pop up!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh you sir are a legend thank you which one do you like best? Since you got proficient in all of the dps roles
@@leocreuu3254 Personally I enjoy playing Samurai and Reaper quite a bit Sometimes I also feel like playing Monk among the melees!
Awesome guide by the way
In short I kind of use the hotbar layouts shown in the videos 😅
The keybinds are 1-0 and - and +, and then the second hotbar is the same, but with shift as the modifier. The third is with alt.
However I use an mmo mouse with a thumb grid, specifically a corsair scimitar. I customized it so that 123 on the mouse is 0-+, and 456 on the mouse is 789. That way the mouse handles the right half of the bar, while the keyboard handles the left.
Whether that is better for you I cannot say 😅
Thank you!
@CaetsuChaijiCh thats a coincidence since i just bout a corsair scimitar for my 1st gaming mouse.
Im gonna give your layout a try and see how well i adapt to it. Thnx for the help
How dod u bind stuff to the mouse like how u did? Sorry for asking such a noob question im new to gaming mouse @CaetsuChaijiCh
Who else is starting stormblood and decided to play samurai? Just me?
Personally I played through stormblood as a red mage, but I can absolutely see the aesthetic appeal of doing it as samurai!
In fact, I know some players feel compelled to choose an "appropriate job" for each expansion, and they would probably have played samurai too!
You should be doing tutorials on Quantum Physics with how you break down a fairly complex rotation so seamlessly. It doesn't help that the action names are Japanese-like words either! LoL
Hahaha thank you so much! Now, first step is for me to learn Quantum Physics!🤔😄
Generally I think it's a good idea to start thinking of where you need to stand after hakaze (the step one combo step.) then you have plenty of time to both think about it and move into position 😁
Thank you so much, I am glad you found the guide helpful!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Ahh I never even noticed the timer ticks are different colors 😭 I'll keep an eye out for that next time, thanks again!
You simply do all 8 in the sequence reading left to right, top to bottom 😊
The summary typically summarizes the things that have been talked about throughout the video, so sometimes I get a bit fast with some of the concepts in the summary 😅
In general, you want to use cooldowns that allow you to do more damage, as soon as possible.
Another angle is if you have the yukikaze sen, and either the one from gekko or kasha, you could use meikyo shisui, followed by gaining the third sen, Midare, and then gekko and kasha, which is just as good 😊
The footage that plays in the summary of my guides is often a clean up to 3minute demonstration with opener, filler and bursts and everything with minimal cutting. So sometimes the thing that is mentioned in the summary voice over doesn't happen in the actual demonstration until a minute later for example
I hope some of this helps! 😊😅
Also good luck with learning samurai!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh I'll need to read through this a few times, but it's making more sense now! Thank you!
i dont know why i picked up samurai this job is killing me already on level 50 my brain but i want to learn it
I think the hardest part is getting acquainted with all the strange action names, but if you think the job looks cool and you want to learn it, I am sure you can do it! 😊
Got to the 3 min mark and already in shambles lol. Need some time to adjust and get used to the skills since i just turned SAM.
One step at a time of course! If you can find a striking dummy to practice with, that might help a lot too! 😁
@@CaetsuChaijiCh I’m starting with the first opening combo you suggested first. Been practicing on dummy. I got a bit confused on the Iaijustsu part.
@@CaetsuChaijiCh alright i got it down!! Lol! I’ve played 4 different classes so far and this by far my favorite! I play console and the best way by memorizing imo is remember what action are in the hot bar and then write them down like mortal kombat combo sheet lol. Rn i got, ❌⬇️❌⭕️🔼⬇️⏹️⬆️➡️
Lmao I’m melting dudes rn
(This is mentioned at 4:48 )
This is also the reason why it is important to start with Gekko before using Higanbana if you use Meikyo Shisui, while if you *don't* use Meikyo Shisui, then doing the speed buff first so you can more quickly get both buffs up is preferred (As seen at 3:32 )
I hope this makes sense!
I avoided this class as it's so damn confusing with all of it's combos and positioning. One day I will pick it up and learn it...
It is okay if it feels a bit overwhelming. If you are not used to Melee jobs, then any positionals will feel problematic to deal with, too. Just keep in mind that Samurai has just the 2 positionals, and at max level, only Reaper performs less positionals than Samurai amongst the melee 😊
If you find the combos overwhelming, you could also try a job like Dragoon to get acquainted with combos at lower levels, unless the confusion stems from the names of the combos being difficult!
Hah knew about yukikaze then higabana applied, i always do that instead gekko
Just make sure that you have the damage buff! :D
@@CaetsuChaijiCh yup I usually go buff n attack all out rotations before so anything with normal and Thur yukikaze>higabana later when needed 🧐
@@CaetsuChaijiCh awesome thanks 🙏💯❤️🔥
@caetsuchaijiCH What s the name of the katana you are wielding on video ?
Hmm I'm not actually sure since it's been so long, but it is extremely likely that it is the first step of the endwalker samurai relic weapon or something like that! 🤔
@@CaetsuChaijiCh Thank you ^_^ I ll check that 🙂🙂
My head is spinning
It can be a bit overwhelming at first, since there's a lot of things! But if you take it one bit at a time, I am sure you'll get it! ^^
So basically I need to do the combos in order to get all 3 sens, so I can unleash a sen attack that deals more damage?
Well that's part of it yes 🤔 the thing is that the number of Sen you have leads to different sen finishers, and two of them are relevant on single target 😅
oh wait ddo i get samurai lvl 50 instead of lvl 1 ? = o
Yes, the job starts at level 50 😊 only the starting classes, and the unusual blue mage start at level 1! 😅
these names make it so much harder
Higanbana > everything else
The slash so fast you don't even see the samurai draw the blade is bound to be powerful! 😁
wow this class is so confusing and complicated o_o
I hope it gets easier with a bit of practice 😊 starting at level 50 certainly isn't doing the job any favors for its difficulty!
@@CaetsuChaijiCh After spending the last hours studying the blade and your video, I am starting to understand how everything works, thanks !

Difficult to avoid when most of the actions are for some reason actually Japanese 😅😂
Is this job really as easy as ppl say ? just picked it up and im at a loss lol
I fell asleep
I hear this guide is effective at that! 😂
Great video, but the slight up-talking becomes annoying after a while. Might be from reading off your script with an unnatural inclination? Regardless, thanks for the info! :)

@@CaetsuChaijiCh I imagine it isn't easy to come off natural when reading a script. So you do very well despite that!
You go way to deep into depth man like your monk guide was great but for sam you confusing the heck outta me
Well, there is a lot to talk about, so I don't know what to say to this ^^'
The aoe section is really helpful and other guides don't actually focus on it that much.
I'm glad to hear that!
It's understandable since often aoe can be really hectic and chaotic! But if you know what is optimal it can still help a bit 😊
can you talk like a normal person?
I swear man. this game has way too many skills and stuff. It get super confusing trying to remember everything and even more so trying to hold modifier keys.
it seems like it was made for controller or an MMO mouse specifically.
Without an mmo mouse, it often helps to rebind some of the buttons on the far right of the hot bar to buttons closer to where your hand is, like Q E R F and so on! But it can be difficult to plan these things out indeed 😅
