    With patch 6.4, Red Mage got some AoE adjustments to their buffs:
    * Embolden and Magick Barrier now apply their buffs in a 30 yalm radius.

    These will be great in another two or three hundred hours when I finally feel like I have Black Mage down enough to explore other Jobs 😄

      Oh dear! ^^' Well, remember that you can always switch things up every now and then! Especially if Black Mage starts to get a little samey as you go! :D

    I’m only up to level 71 with Red Mage, but it’s honestly a lot of fun. Made for an interesting shift when I switch back to Black Mage for an alliance raid and had to remember “Oh right, I don’t get to move every second spell.”

      Now that would be incredible if Black Mage got Dualcast! :D

      I'm glad you found it helpful, Keziah! Red Mage really is a spectacle to watch! And the job is very flexible, which ultimately means that the better you get at it, the more clever you can get with how you play the job! :D

    After learning so much about BLM from your videos, I don't know why I didn't come here first before getting my RDM to 90. Boy have I been playing it wrong. Thanks for the great tips as always.

    New player here (kinda insane that 100+ hours is still a new player in this game) and wanted to start off by saying that these guides you've made for red and black mage have been lifesavers. I wanted to ask, though: is it actually possible to maintain this perfect rotation even through mechanics? I try to line up my 5 second gcd windows such that I don't have any Fleche downtime, but more often than not I'll either have to move out of orange, or the boss will run off somewhere I can't hit it. When you play at the highest levels, how often are you sticking to this perfect rotation?

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  7 місяців тому +3

      It isn't always possible to play perfectly, and even in the hardest content, it isn't expected that you play perfectly. 😊
      As you get better acquainted with a boss, you find ways to move in advance or plan your rotation so you happen to be casting instant attacks when you have to move anyway and things like that 😁
      Ultimately, perfect rotation is more a thing to strive towards, but you are never expected to BE perfect! In fact, a large part about mastering a job is finding ways to adjust the rotation to the situation so the boss mechanics impact your rotation as little as possible 😊
      I hope this helps! 😊

    Who said rdm is easy this seems hard... I'm not sure I get the displacement concept, actually I don't really understand aligning skill CDs in general?? RDM has a lot of stuff they can weave in it's kinda crazy

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Рік тому +11

      When people say red mage is easy, they typically mean the very basic principles are easy. The tricks to do more than the minimum can be a bit much though!
      The displacement concept is that you want to be able to use fleche and contre sixte as close to precisely the instant they become ready. But you only have time to weave these abilities for around 2 seconds after every second spell (or while casting otherwise instant spells, or the melee combo)
      If we focus on just fleche, it has a cooldown of 25 seconds. So after five sets of dual casts it should be ready right on time. But as the melee combo takes an unusual amount of time (12.5 ish seconds at max level) it will cause fleche to be ready during the first spell cast in your sets, instead of the instant follow up, meaning that if you ensured that the first spell was instant instead, you could use fleche sooner. This could be done either by using acceleration or swift cast earlier to plan ahead, or use it so the spell that overlaps with fleches cooldown itself is instant. Either one works. It sounds very complicated, but as you learn the job and get better this stuff should become more intuitive!
      In regards to aligning CD's in general, this is something all jobs do if you are referring to the two minute burst: simply put, you want embolden and manafication together. But their cooldowns are nearly the same so this happens somewhat naturally 😊 for other jobs, this is far more complicated!
      I hope this helps a bit, and if you have additional questions, do feel free to ask!

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh I played like 5 different classes without ever noticing the 2 minute burst was for every class. Thank you for explaining the displacement, I get it now :)... Though I can't even imagine noticing the 2s delay while playing. I guess you have to play the class for a long time to get like that.

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Рік тому +3

      The reason for the two minute burst is that all raid buffing cooldowns have the same 2 minute cooldown, so stacking them all together greatly amplifies the damage of the raid 😊 this means that even a job like samurai who has no temporary damage buffs is incentivized to use it's high damage attacks in that specific window for example 😁
      And yes keeping close track of specific cooldowns whilst doing your rotation is something that comes with experience with the job and the game as a whole 😊

  • @traemaxwell

    So while weaving I want to only use Swiftcast or Acceration not both?

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  Рік тому +4

      You can use both as seen in the level 90 opener, but often you don't need to use both at the same time 😊

  • @paddycaker
    @paddycaker 9 місяців тому +1

    i main rdm. not an expert or anything, -but you will want to keep fleche and contre for the double resolution embolden combo (the 2min burst window).-
    15:14 -yes you have Contre up for the burst window, but the harder hitting Fleche wont be inside that- sadge 😩

    • @CaetsuChaijiCh
      @CaetsuChaijiCh  9 місяців тому +7

      That's complicated 😊
      Embolden doesn't boost fleche or contre sixte because they are physical attacks. And delaying fleche a single gcd loses you more damage than Embolden would have granted if it did work 😊
      As such, the motivation to hold fleche for raid buffs depends on how well your group coordinates raid buffs 😁 if your group does coordinate raid buffs, then delaying fleche one or two gcds to land it in them may be beneficial, but ultimately what matters most in most situations is using it on cooldown, as delaying fleche by just one gcd effectively loses you 10% of a fleche on average due to the cooldown, and possibly more due to how red mages dual cast impacts it! 😅

    • @paddycaker
      @paddycaker 9 місяців тому +3

      @@CaetsuChaijiCh Yeah, I implied that in a way lol. Very true, quite dependent on others favorable raid buffs.
      "delaying fleche by just one gcd effectively loses you 10% of a fleche on average due to the cooldown" is it actually that much??! I did not know that detail. That's an interesting stat. tyvm
