This game literally saved me from giving up on life and committing suicide a few years ago. I had no interest or love for my physical reality but escaping into the world of tamriel for 10 hours a day kept me inside and safe from doing something stupid. Hoarding and decorating my Lakeview manor gave me something to be proud of, even though I had nothing going for me outside of the monitor. After getting the help I needed a few years later I had another bash at Skyrim, this time heavily modded for an incredibly immersive experience. It just gets better with every quest I revisit and camping spot I discover. Skyrim was a keystone in my recovery and while I haven't played it for a month now as I'm working through AC:Valhalla, I regularly meditate and fall asleep to this emotional, spiritually invigorating music. Thank you Skyrim and the community, I love you all.

But, what if, in one of the many multiverses, Skyrim IS real and WE are in it...?

As I stop in moments to just be in amazement of the beauty of Skyrim, I find myself to be in a place where I shouldnt be or so the bandit says. After I shouted him and his friends to pieces I loot their bodies and take all the gold and I run again into the beauty of Skyrim. The day slowly shifts into nightfall and I climb unto the peek of a small mountain. The night sky covers the land and as I stand on the peek of this mountain, I begin to see the breathtaking two moons of the land accompanied with the stars and auroras that make it even more elegant. Then I began to question my purpose as the dragonborn "People only know me because of my gift, If I didnt have such a gift would people still think Im special?" "Im the Dragonborn and yet I feel the weight of the world is on my shoulders, The fate of all life rests upon me and if I fail? I will have doomed all of the world to the mouth of the World Eater, Alduin" these thoughts encompass around my head. I wait for hours, just waiting, waiting for something. Then I see the sunrise, then I see hope in myself. As the sun rises,t it breaks away the night. I can feel the wind rushing through my body and my iron armor. "I am the one and last Dragonborn, I will save this land and stop the End of the world, I will have the most dangerous quest anyone will ever take and failures not an option, I will vanquish this evil and slay Alduin...because there will be no one else who will do it but me" I say those words of encouragement and went down. But before I step down from the mountain, I look back and stared a bit more to the sunrise and then I head off with a smile.

My room was an entire unfinished basement. Concrete floor covered only with a rug, drafty windows... Playing skyrim on pS3 in the winter, I really felt I was there.. wind, cold... Even in the summer that basement kept a little too cold. This music plays in my head often when I take a walk through the snowfall in the local park. The composer is gifted immensely.

    • @TheLeanBaker
      @TheLeanBaker 4 роки тому +14

@Wei Zhao I'll say this from experience. I can kinda see what you're saying, but here's the point that I made in the comment before: the choice of evil or good is yours and yours alone. When someone is born, they are not born evil, but entirely innocent. A newborn does not know what good or evil even means and without that knowledge, why would that determine them as evil? Evil, by definition, is the "deliberate" action that is contrary to favorable morals. Now let's say that someone is born into a home that is "evil"... This person only would know the evil in the home without having a knowledge of what is good, so heavy punishment on them would be... incorrect. It's the same the other way around: if a person only knows good and has never encountered it, how would they know what opposition looks like?
The other half of it is that in this world, everyone has the agency to choose between the moral and the not. I'm also not saying that someone should directly seek "suffering" or opposition because that's ridiculous, and there's enough to go around for everyone already. You, as everyone else, have three choices when you meet opposition: face it and win, face it and fail, or become the opposition. One would make you stronger, one would teach you a hard lesson, and one would lead you down a path that is riddled with pitfalls.
Think of it like this and I'll be done: You are a campfire, a small one that is just getting started. Let's suppose the opposition is a bunch of logs and other fuel. There is a real risk for this small flame to be smothered and put out by the logs and wood. However, if you, the flame, had a choice, what would you do? Would you get extinguished, or eat at the surplus of wood for a while, risking the fuel that you're already using? If you take the latter option, you can burn through the wood and become a flame that is both brighter and hotter than it ever was before. THAT is the result of triumphing in challenges. THAT shows the strength you possess and therefore, you shine brighter thanks to the lessons the challenges provided.

I just finished Fallout 4. AMAZING GAME. My son told me to play Skyrim. I am only level 26 and just starting but I find I like walking through the landscape as opposed to fast travel. The journey is better than the destination. I have a man pit with a huge TV and surround sound. Nothing like a dark room, perfectly clear graphics and this music. What a perfect game and I so look forward to the months/years ahead of playing this masterpiece.

Agreed. Skyrim on a big screen is great. You can really find yourself sucked into the world. My wife would laugh because I'd sometimes lean my body, trying to see around a corner or a rock outcropping. Or I would give a startled "Aaah!" if something gave me a jump scare. In those moments, you're there.
If you thought Fallout 4 was amazing, try New Vegas. It isn't as visually appealing, but the storytelling is far & away superior to Fallout 3 or 4.

Skyrim’s soundtrack is one of the few video game OSTs I get really emotional from. When I was a younger kid I would watch my brother play on his Xbox 360 all the time and I did always hear the music, I never exactly paid deep attention to it, but I loved the game. I always wanted to play but my siblings never let me play their video games. Quite a while back, my sister got a PS4, and for the first time, I was able to actually play the game. I hadn’t seen anything from it for a while at the time so it was nostalgic, even if I wasn’t the one playing back then. I was actually so happy, it’s one of my favorite games to this day. When I heard the music for my first time playing the feeling of familiarity made me really emotional, as I never exactly noticed that I had memorized and remembered all the songs, I was wondering why I was able to hum to the songs so well. I heard them constantly that they were kind of just engraved in my brain, unnoticed, waiting to just be pulled out of the deep crevices of my mind.
These types of videos bring out a very different side of me. I feel so at peace and focused, which is extremely hard for me. I get distracted very easily and feel the need to be moving around constantly, and very unmotivated. It effects my productivity a lot and these help greatly. It also really helps me relax, which helps since I’m a bit stressed at the moment as the end of my freshman year of high school is coming up, but thanks so much for these videos. - ❤️ Liana

Visually impressive. The music is beautiful, but Jeremy Soule never disappoints. Mechanically wonky. They keep stripping down many of the things Todd sees as 'superfluous', but which players see as giving depth & flavor to a game. They made their decision & it paid off. They designed it for appeal to those who wanted to complete practically all the faction quests with one character.
I love the game & have played it at least a little each year since 2011. Is it the best thing ever? That is debatable. Like Mark Hamill said when discussing movies, "Just because something makes a lot of money doesn't mean it is good."

stepdad gave it to me, as a christmas gift. i cherished it ever since. the day after, i decided to boot it up. i remember taking a good bit of time on my first character, as i know that my first would be my best, even with no skyrim knowledge. a little bit in, i definitely knew that this would be my favorite game of all time, just based on riverwood alone. i think now would be the time to say, i have a huge soft spot for medieval/fantasy games, because just looking at the town, the people, the buildings, i loved every bit of it. then i heard i should go to whiterun because of the dragon. i of course, being the young bean i was, took the trail, no hopping over hills or mountains, i just walked to the city, taking in the beauty of this game. along the way, it was night time and rainy, and hearing this, it hit me right in the heart. this caused me to love a game the most i ever will in my lifetime. the downtime between engagements, and the fights themselves, they were stunning. i finally came to the village outside of whiterun, and saw the giant fighting some npcs. and i just ran in blind and went swinging. i was so locked on whiterun, i didnt bother listening to what the woman was saying, i just left and ran up to the door. the guard stopped me, and i told him i needed to get in, and he let me pass. i go through what people probably normally did, and went to the smith first, told the guy i was greymane, got annoyed by nazeem (tried to kill him even), went to jarl balgruff, got told to fight off the dragon, killed it, and i decided that was enough for that day. and even then, this was still playing. i sat outside for around 15 minutes before i stopped. this was THE game. a masterpiece. a game that, with time, i would learn to love more than any other game.
fast foward to now, over 8 years later. i never hated the game once, even with mods crashing the game, or making it harder, because the stellar soundtrack always pulled it together. this 10 hour extension of a song/many songs still gives me that childhood nostalgia, that reason to pick up my controller. Bethesda, you may be going down a pit of hell, but this game will never go hated. this was the perfect game, exploits and bugs aside. thank you Bethesda. and thank you, reader, for being one of the many people to keep this work of art alive. may the divines bless your journeys.

The love of my life passed away a few months ago. Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind - they all held him together and gave him so much joy and peace.
He could escape for hours, days, or weeks into these beautiful lands.
The amount of times I've heard 'Hey you. You're finally awake'!
He'd love to be an orc or a nord, starting with magic but usually falling back on two-handed weapons. Sometimes he'd be dark, most of the time he'd be good!
We used to play together, particularly when I was pregnant with our son because I was so sick. He'd come home from work and find me deep in a barrow or furiously levelling up my alchemy. Then we'd have dinner and he'd play, and I'd watch him until bed.
It hurts too much to play at the moment. But I love putting this on as I go about my day and as I get our toddler to sleep. Because it's so familiar and feels like him. Feels like home.
I'm glad we were not the only ones who loved Skyrim as keenly as we did. I'm so glad to be a part of this community and one day share it with our son.

We lived in the middle of nowhere and I had no friends besides my brother. He got a new job in another state and moved, but he left me his PS3 and Skyrim. I was utterly alone in every sense, but Skyrim was there for me. In that magical, beautiful world, I got to go on adventures and escape my shitty reality. It will forever be my most beloved game.

I feel like it's just overshadowed because of how blatantly amazing the Fallout universe' soundtracks are.. I feel like the casual player loves the Skyrim score, several parts of the game's soundtrack- but people won't associate those memories on Thier own if they don't already take the time to stop and appreciate the score. They end up loving it for the events that happened while hearing certain parts of the score.. but in MY opinion- ES atmosphere and the score in general- but more importantly skyrim- is an absolute masterpiece to me.. the few (alot of us but in comparison to people who never notice shit in games it's very few) who can recognize it like us..we know this score very well.. it literally warms my heart and soothes my soul. Wishing safe travels to YOU old friend ..all of you.. and good fortune along the way..

This takes me back....started with nothing and ended as a general in the imperial army, bringing peace to Skyrim, although it wasn't easy. Jarl Ulfric, a man I respected,a man I saw as a strong ally against the high elves....was blinded and warped by the very enemy we both had. They twisted him and tortured him until they made him believe the empire was to blame. I stood before him pleading to listen to reason, but it was all for naught,I had no choice but to slay him then and there. The aftermath was long work, but in the end, I united skyrim. Hell's I even adopted two beautiful daughters,I had our home in whiterun the central hub of all trades in the land. There, I'd teach them the value of a septum and what they could do with it.
Our summer home was in solitude, where they would be able to run and play with the other children of the empire. I still hear their laughter to this day in my old age. A proud father who hid a secret from them and everyone else.
For I a decorated soldier of the empire promoted by tullius himself... was the thieves' guild leader. Behind the scenes, I'd raise the guild from nothing to its former glory days. I'd personally help establish chapters of the guild all over the continent which helped benefit my hold on the realm and it's people to root out aldmeri dominion spies,I'd be running the guild from here in skyrim while balancing my life as a military man and father. All the while lining my pockets with an endless wealth of gold, enough that I could buy influence where I didn't have it.
I used it and my endless resources within the guild to move my position all the way to the top, but they would never know such a thing. I had a more important job that I knew i could not ignore,I had to take up my duties as dragonborn and I sought to eliminate the elven threat that plagued our lands and oppressed it's peoples once and for all. It wasn't easy,I spent many years traveling with my Dova brothers from land to land. Showing the leaders that it's time to rise up and fight with us against the oppression of the aldmeri dominion, they were all stubborn at first but whose going to argue a dragon in human form that had the backing of many other larger dragons?
After uniting the nations of daggerfall, my home, then hammerfell, Morrowind,Cyrodil, and even the marshes, which was not easy by any stretch of the word. I was fortunate enough to have argonian natives act on my behalf as emissaries, but we got their allegiance.
After all was said and done, we took our first steps towards finally seeing the ending of the war. We sent our representatives to Valenwood, and from there, they were offered peace or war. Of course, they rejected and sent word to the summerset isles....but we were expecting that and intercepted their courier's.
Then when the sun rose upon valenwood the bosmer had no chance,we had assassinated their night watch and before they had a chance to react we had swept over them and grabbed victory over them without much blood shed. But it helps when they saw my legion of dragons, they were easy to sway to our side and secure a terms of surrender.
Next was the deserts of elsewhere. That battle...I don't like to remember, they had sworn to fight to the last kajhit, and so they did. I wanted to save our soldier's lives as I was advised that marching on them in the desert would almost be suicide. It was their home, and they were molded by its harsh heat. So I devised a plan that I didn't wish to use, but i was left with no real choice.
It was then i decided to take a small battalion of four thousand men, stood outside of their main city keep, and called upon a Dova I met in the underworld of the soul carin. I called his name..."Durnehvir" the men stood and watched in horror and shock as he shouted to the keep, and with his necromancy he called upon over fourty thousand undead soldiers, they wiped over their keep like a plague killing all who resisted and fought back. All I want to say now is they are rebuilding, and I hope to Talos that I never have to do it again.
But now... now came the summerset isles. I took a fleet of redgaurd ships while I flew on the back of Ohdaving. The meeting was as I expected...tense. I offered them this last chance, surrender, or face genocide. The stubborn stuck-up Altmer chose war... and this is the part I had removed from the annuls of public history, for only a few will truly know how this went.
The sky's had Ohdaving and several other dova raining dragon fire down upon the entire island. The ground forces led by myself and the generals who helped me take the rest of the continent, it had proven to be a massacre of which the mer had no chance of survivng....there aren't any high elves left on summerset, All of them are gone. Every man, woman, and child slain and send to their afterlife. I was regarded as a hero,a legend, some even hailed me as the rebirth of Talos himself.
But now here I sit, emperor, old,my daughters have grown up. My youngest Sophie is a scholar bless her heart. My oldest Lucia is a soldier, and a damn good one at that. She commands most of the imperial forces and has seen little to no combat, mostly just resistance forced from the valenwood.
I've done all I could have ever done,I United Tamirel and her peoples beneath a single sigil for a second time. The empire has risen to a golden age that I hope will last over a thousand years if not more, the people prosperous and happy.
But as I stare out and watch the sun set beyond the horizon I feel my mortality catching up with me. I wonder....will this last? Will the peace I brought hold for generations? Or is it only held together because of fear? I'll never know, but I will always hold out hope that what I did I did for the good of the realm...for the good of Tamriel and her people.
I think I'll make a trip to Skyrim...one last time,to climb the throat of the world one final time and see my brother parthernax again...I miss his wisdom. My lovely daughters if you are reading this then I have already passed,I only ask that you take me to the great land of Skyrim, take me home to those rolling hills of whiterun and lay me to rest upon the skyforge. Let my ashes blow into the wind and let my soul pass onto sovngarde, where my brothers and sisters in arms await me.
I am so proud of you two, and i love you both, but I love you most of all....Tamriel.
    - Emperor Hyades Blackthorne III.
Edit:It has been a very long time. Coming back to see all the responses and love makes this emperors heart happy. And I hope this fix changes my wall of text into more bite sized texts for future readers. I love you all.

Did you ever have someone to love? To remember...? I don't like to remember that day. I was a young Altmer, but in deep love with a Nord. It didn't take long for my daughter to become accustom to him. Soon after we had gotten married, he opened shop. We needed some way to provide for the family, didn't we? Once we had gotten the money, I adopted a second child, my son. He lived in Dawnstar, and he was to provide the miners with food and warmth, although he slept in the inn, on the cold floor next to the fire. He also loved my husband. Months after my family was whole, I had received word of a missing sword that was believed to be lost in a Dwemer Ruin. I agreed, although I now see that the beauty of an object is not equivalent to it's safety. I asked my husband if he would like to join me on the adventure. He hadn't left the house much after setting up shop. Oh Mara, that was the biggest mistake I ever made.
      ...
We had found the sword, now all we needed to do is leave. Bake sweet rolls for the kids. Sing songs by the fire. Sadly, they would no longer be able to do it with their father. There was a large, treacherous Dwemer Centurian by the exit gate. I knew we could take it down. Together. But I didn't seem to be the target. To this day, his body lies in that ruin, next to the body of the Centurian, and all of those who stood in our way.
      Bestest wishes,
      Celbi of Summerset Isles

I feel the snow on my skin, the breeze against my back. My shield weighs heavily on my arms as I finally sheathe it onto my shoulder. My metal armor is freezing to the touch, but the fur inside makes me as warm as a scorching fireplace. The embers burn deeply within thy eyes as my inner Dovah calls to me from the dream realm. The ancient heavens sing hymns to the Nine Divines that resonate through my internal being. It is time. I close my eyes as the last thing I see are the stone gates of High Hrothgar. The smell of pines and falling snow fill my lungs as I take my last breath before falling into a deep sleep. Peace.. at last..

I think Bethesda were the victims of their own success. It sold so well they were afraid to move on, instead making new editions & porting it to new platforms. Now it has been 10.5 years and the longer they wait, the higher expectations will be.

We need to constantly bug Bethesda into signing up Jeremy Soule once again. Sadly Jeremy and the folk at Bethesda fell out over some live concerts that were done without Jeremy’s consent. He tweeted angrily about it not being a true representation of his work if it wasn’t being played from the original manuscript, of which he had the only copy. So therefore the live concerts where being played from transcribed manuscripts *ie played only by ear and not the real thing. The whole thing made me feel very sad because I feared that he’d never work for the studio again after that. Although he has since said that he has at least one more Elder Scrolls game ‘still in him’. So there is hope. The ball is in Bethesda’s court, I guess. Fingers crossed!
