I wish Bethesda would remaster this game instead of rereleasing 20,000 Skyrim games. This is absolutely my favourite RPG. So many hours playing. Pure joy.
Agree 100%. But Bethesda isn’t what it was back when they developed this game and neither is Todd Howard. They couldn’t never make a game today that was as cutting-edge and revolutionary as this game was back when it was created. I doubt they could even make a good remake of it without fucking it up.
Reading these comments, I'm so glad to see im not the only one getting emotional here. No game was able to impact me the way Oblivion did growing up. A true Masterpiece.

"Good day Friend." Seriously I will forever and always play Oblivion time and time again, no matter how many times I complete every quest and explore every dungeon. This soundtrack is the best part of my Childhood.
I would fall asleep playing Oblivion, because I stayed up so long trying to discover everything.. and I would wake up in the middle of the night to this beautiful music.. miss those days.
Oblivion has the best music. I wish they can make the next TES similar. I don't want to see another snowflake or draugr for the rest of my life. Take me back to Cyrodiil
I don't know what it is but I really enjoyed Oblivion's music far more than Skyrim. It definitely feels more lively, if not colorful; just a lot more feeling attached. On the other hand I felt that Skyrim's music was more bleak and dreary, although the game itself is themed relatively bleak in a frozen wasteland of sorts.
Connor Conatser totally agree, the music of Skyrim fit the game perfectly but Oblivion had way better music in general. It had different themes I guess you can call it. They had the nice music when you go places and then the dark music of you went to the plane of oblivion and other bad places like caves or dungeons
We will probably experience many themes of harmony in the next game, regarding music and setting. We will love a change from Skyrim's music in general. I still think Skyrim has its relaxed musics and good combat music. However there will be a lot more variations in the next game as we see in the progression from Oblivion to Skyrim.
Eli7222 agreed! Let's hope! Did you hear they have leaked legal documents from the same lawyer that handled oblivion and Skyrim? The title is going to be Redfall, supposedly. Let's hope we aren't trading a snowy wasteland for a sandy wasteland. I really loved cyrodiil because it had everything.
Probably my 100 - 200th time listening to the whole 10 hours (in parts sometimes) while playing medieval rpg games. And trust me when i say it fits better than games OST's.. ugh i love it
It's weird., I was playing this in the background and then I glanced over at the video and seeing the still town at night with the flames flickering and everything made me feel like I was visiting a place I hadn't visited in a long time. It's interesting how much of an impact video games can have on you as a kid. It's so comforting to see it again.
I love this game. So many memories. I've settled my Nord in Chorrol in Arborwatch. Now I just go into town and buy food. Visit the pubs & stores. Such a lovely game
*You Nord always upset me...* *I've heard the tales of your kind from whisper-wind and beyond the Northern mountains. Thank Akatosh the castle is well guarded tonight, I'll be keeping my eye on you...*
That music does hit you hard when you haven't heard it in forever. You would think they could remake Oblivion and add co-op. At least two player. I wouldn't mind if the graphics were just slightly polished. It was a huge world to explore with npcs everywhere but it still felt lonely to me. Playing with a friend would have been great.
The Elder Scrolls Franchise has really been there with me all the way. I remember having the most amazing Summer break playing through Morrowind on warm evenings back at parent's house when I was just a kid. Then, when highschool came around, I would always find time to get lost and wander about in Oblivion. Skyrim really transported me to better places during College when the stress was at times too much. Thanks Bethesda! Your games have always meant a lot to me as a kid and still as an adult.
The first song made me shed a tear. Memories... It brings me back to these good old days. The story I made in this game when I was a kid just feels like a part of my own story. It is not a game, it is art.
Is it just me, or does Cyrodiil with its trees and soft lighting really look like some Rococo landscape art? I even suppose the developers made that on purpose. There is some accent on pictures and painting in Oblivion. Oil paintings are everywhere in the houses, brushes and paint palettes may be easily found, there are many quests concerning pictures and artists. It all fits well with graphics themselves.
Alexander M I've often said this about oblivion, and in my opinion, what makes it a better game than Skyrim in the artistic sense. Skyrim has wonderful designs and scaling with history etc. But the art fails to capture a lot of the colours that are necessary to say "This is a fantasy world." Which is super important in a game like that.
@@morgankunkel1123 I would say it fits with the atmosphere of Skyrim. It's a moody land where civil war and dragons' inception take place, etc. For example, Empire is weak, everyone feels fear of Thalmor. That is why Skyrim is not so bright and full of colors (if you meant it). And, of course, because it is the most northern place of Tamriel.
Well Alexander, you have to keep in mind the social and historical path of every nation in Tamriel. In VVanderfel and Morrowind you see more wall painting and decorated carpets. Dunmer art is somewhat more tribal and simplified. Imperials, thanks to the opportunity of trading ideas with other nations have developed a much more complex art-style.
While the graphics kinda sucked, I would say Oblivion was clearly the pretty game out of the main 3 Elder scrolls. Morrowind was the biggest feeling game, even the stuff you could pick up and spells you could cast, it was just so vast. I think the fast travel in the other 2 made them seem more manageable in size, but walking and jumping almost everywhere in Morrowind was a pain in the ask.com... I will be honest, I didn't like Skyrim... it was gimmicky, buggy, gray, the main quest felt shoved down my throat, and if you know anything about how I like an elder scrolls game, I may care about their Divo-politalical struggles but I don't do a main quest... I never did the Vivic quest, or the Dagon quest. I mean it's on my to do list but more like, how Link needs to catch Cocos for a bottle before he can fight Ganon...
So many memories of this game.... I remember first encountering this game at a friends house, he had the collectors edition with the septim and artwork book. It took me about 6 months to finally get my first xbox arcade and play it. I then traded that in and got a ps4 and kept playing this game. I am now playing this on PC and it runs better than ever, after all this time I love coming back to this game especially during winter months. Makes me think of Christmas and with a cup of jasmine green tea as I always did. I do love skyrim in VR but this game is just so atmospheric and the music is just bliss! its like I am back to being a kid again every time I play it. I can even remember playing this and my friend showed me the duplication glitch...... such great times... lets hope the next one will be as memorable....... if it ever comes out.....
I’ll always credit this game with some very personal healing. I graduated in 08 and had a wild two years of emotional strain and living away from home for the first time. I moved back home and spent a whole winter through spring playing this game and coming back to myself. It’s been 14 years now and I haven’t played it since that time and I want to get a 360 solely to play this again and come back to myself again.
Oblivion was so beautiful. Going from Morrowind to Oblivion it was like oh my God and then we went from Oblivion to Skyrim and all the beautiful color was gone.
Put this on to go to bed every night, so grateful for this video and the old memories it conjures up. Never had the closest relationship with my older brother but we bonded in silence as I watched him traverse Cyrodil, time and time again. Thank you 🤎
We are homeless now and havent been able to visit such games since 2018-2024 after losing everything in the transition. The only family fun we share now i guess could be labelled as a very long family camping trip with a few visits to a shelter or hotel room in between. Since our homelessness our spoiled relatives have abandoned us. Posts like this are comforting reminders of the good times we are striving to return to and keeps us striving not to give up. The worlds in these games..with thier souns, characters and music.. they are home to us..or a part if home that represent the happiness in it when we had it. The creators or even you the poster of this clip probably didnt imagine this being so meaningful to another.. or maybe you did.. but there it is. This represents the good in my familys life. Thank you for making this available.❤-Jennifer, my sons mom, Burton & son🎉
mikerules999 look at fallout 4 on PC. That game you do need a pretty decent PC to play, and I’m gonna assume it’s gonna be the same for the next elder scrolls game considering they are still using the same engine.
mikerules999 you realize this is unrelated to what he is saying right? He wasn’t complaining about console, or even bragging about it. He just wants a remaster to a game lol. But PC airheads find room to comment on videos 24/7. I could have saved up for a PC, but I’m not gonna pay an additional 400+ (plus additional fees later on to update) dollars for increased FPS and graphics. Not all of us are that needy.
Almost 20 years on and this instantly warps me back to the midnight sessions sitting on the end of my bed in the family home. With 3 kids of my own now I hope I can provide them the space for the same beautiful nostalgia.
The evolution of gamming and graphics happening at the same time, was something special. Games turned to worlds and graphics this good had never been seen.
To all weary travellers, "Hello there". We all have our reasons for loving this game and the joy it brought so many of us, but I want to spare a moment for those no longer with us. Grandad; I love you and may the 9 Divines light your path.
I seriously want to thank Everness for putting this together. This served as my background study music for the past 2 and a half years while I was getting my Master's degree. It really helped me concentrate and alleviate stress; Oblivion is my favorite game, so the music is really comforting to me. Just wanted to say thanks now that I'm done :)
@@CWG74 I think I may be the wrong person to answer this question as I may be biased. I've invested hundreds of hours into this game on multiple platforms, so I'm always going to say it's absolutely still worth playing. However, it's very different to the next entry in the series (Skyrim), which most people consider superior (I strongly disagree). It's also much more difficult. It's not uncommon for people to argue that the correct difficulty to play this game is somewhere around 25-30% of the difficulty slider (it goes from 1-100% and defaults to 50%). This is mostly due to its quirky leveling system which levels monsters alongside you. This has the effect of creating virtually immortal enemies if you don't level the correct skills. Despite all this, it's still my favorite game. You just have to pay attention to your leveling and make sure to understand which skills will cause you to level up, and which don't (leveling up will make the game progressively more difficult rather than easier, which is somewhat contrary to most RPG conventions).
@@MyUsualComment thanks. I watched my friend play morrowind growing up and that and oblivion look a lot more appealing to me than Skyrim. Skyrim looks like a fun exciting theme park but morrowind and oblivion look like realistic pieces of history and fantasy combined with more of a grounded tone which I’m interested in. Is oblivion VR worthy?
Today was a really quiet day and I was working silently without talking to anyone. This music put me into a meditative mood and helped me to get everything done without feeling lonely. Thank you, Everness!
Feels like I'm 9 years old again, going through the daily life of Algoran Pacune, leaving my house in Bravil to go hunting along the coast of the Niben, running in terror whenever I saw the red glow of an Oblivion gate in the distance. I miss those days.
Playing Oblivion always had such a strong mood attached to it and its world was so intriguing and fascinating, discovering the Daedra, Vampires or pursuing the Arena, it felt so alive it will always be a masterpiece
Это не просто музыка. Это воспоминания, ностальгия, умиротворение. Десятки часов проведённые в Oblivion на всегда останутся в сердце. Единственная RPG мир которой тебе как родные края))
Can still hear the sounds of the menus, eating or drinking items. Makes me want to replay It again, even If others hate this game It was still my first of Elder Scrolls.
I'm in the middle of an existential crisis (for real) right now and the Oblivion soundtrack is one of the only things that helps soothe my distressed mind.
I played this last night while having a relaxing much needed spa night. I used an under eye mask, lit a candle and turned off the lights. It was heavenly.
I've played all the Elder Scrolls games except the first (and the spinoffs). Daggerfall is amazingly expansize. Morrowind has the most interesting plot. Skyrim has the best gameplay mechanics. But Oblivion is still my favorite, simply because the game world is just. so. beautiful. It is a truly lovely world in every respect. Colorful, pristine, solemn, and this music complements it perfectly. When people ask "Can video games be art?", they need look no further than Oblivion.
I'm sure you'll find this rather banal compared to what other people have said here, but this mix is really helping focus on my work (+ I have a lot of nostalgia listening to this). Thanks!
This is my go-to video to listen to while reading. The music also brings me back to a simpler time, when I was 13, had no real worries, no taxes, no responsibility. Ah, good times.
It's so nice to see so many people who feel the exact same way as I do. This isn't only the best Elder Scrolls game, but probably my favorite game I've ever played. I lost my mom to cancer when I was 17, and even though Skyrim had just come out (and I do love Skyrim as well,) I was playing Oblivion because of the comfort and nostalgia it brought me. A true masterpiece in every sense of the word. I'd love to know what everyone's favorite city was, I'll go first, mine was Leyawiin. I loved the cultural melting pot of Argonian and Khajiit, the swamps and the large looming trees. Only thing I didnt like was the run down shack you can buy but hey, I lived there anyways.
Timeless beauty, it's 2024 and I still feel calmed by Oblivion's OST. I still remember the days playing it back in the late 2000s. Xbox 360 was a legendary era.
i hear that annoying elf u get once ur the arena champion when i said he was obsessed I DIDNT THINK HE WOULD INVADE MY HEAD *puts on tin foil hat* and i still here him. worse then Cicero.
Supposedly, Soule was in a bad crash right before writing the music for this game, and honestly, I believe it, because the music sounds like the type of music I would play if I were admiring the beauty of weeds blowing in the wind, or something else small but pleasant.
This game brought warmth and calm to a chaotic time of my childhood. I would wander the forests just enjoying the scenery and relishing the serenity of it all. This game will always be my happy place.
Me too. I enjoy putting this music on as I explore IRL woods. Replaying it doesn't bring back the same childhood magic, but walking around in the woods with this music feels just right
I played this gem in the wrong order, right after get Platinum trophy in Skyrim. I had the red cover version (greatest hits I guess?), tt was sometime around 2012 (during my post-graduate studies). I was still living with my dad and it was everything so different. I was completely absorbed by the lore, maybe more than in Skyrim. I've read every single book, did every single quest and sidequest. I remember I was running out of Oblivion gates to shut, then my PS3 died from YLOD (yellow led of death) and I couldn't play it anymore. Out of frustration, I never bought another Sony console, so I couldn't even run the Blu-ray and in the XBox Live store, Oblivion was never available (at least in the Brazilian store). Few years ago I moved from my home country to, not another country, but another continent and last month I got my baby boy and, as any newborn, he's not letting me and my wife sleep so we're doing shifts. I stay with him from 9PM to 2AM and then I sleep (so I can work in the next day). Also, my kid doesn't sleep anywhere but on our lap so I can't move when I'm with him so I decided to browse the store so I could play something long and I found Oblivion again. It's still beautiful, just like it was in the past. Long story short: This game has a special meaning to me. It's my companionship during sleepless nights with my baby.
Currently doing a play through of Oblivion… I first played it on the PC after my brother downloaded it when I was 11 and I couldn’t understand the mechanics nor the concept of an open world game. It wasn’t till I was around 12/13 that I figured it out. I’m 26 now, and I don’t game as often as I used to. But I am having SO much fun revisiting this game. The music is unreal. I downloaded the entire soundtrack to my phone and listen regularly because these songs are truly, wonderfully composed.
Strolling through the fields looking for dragons tongue, this music in the back ground, I was totally immersed. I wasnt a stressed out kid who just moved and had no friends in a new area, I was just a humble Khajiit Alchemy apprentice harvesting ingredients for his professor in the quiet countryside. I could smell the clean air and feel the gental breeze in my mind. I'm an adult now and lifes problems take priority but I'll never forget that feeling. No game will ever bring me such joy like this did.

I wish Bethesda would remaster this game instead of rereleasing 20,000 Skyrim games. This is absolutely my favourite RPG. So many hours playing. Pure joy.
They are going to do it, it will be a remake, according to the leaks...

Hi! :D
I would fall asleep playing Oblivion, because I stayed up so long trying to discover everything.. and I would wake up in the middle of the night to this beautiful music.. miss those days.
This takes me back to a better time...

Oblivion felt alot like a fairy tale world music included, which I really love, Skyrim felt like something out of the Norse mythology instead.
"Here? Right here? What about, say... over there? No? Right here? All right then, you're the Grand Champion! Whatever you say!"
Fourth time I've heard it for the full ten hours while writing. This is now the sound of my bachelor thesis...
Probably how Sinderion felt writing the Nirnroot Missive. :)
Top ten games versus made hands down imo

I haven't played Oblivion in a long time but the music takes me straight back there. I hope the next Elder Scrolls is more like Oblivion.
Agreed
@@KatrinEgilsdottir same, if I joined the team that made this game back then I'd add more npcs walking around, fishing, selling things and on horses
seriously, oblivion was the best out of all the elder scrolls games
That music does hit you hard when you haven't heard it in forever. You would think they could remake Oblivion and add co-op. At least two player. I wouldn't mind if the graphics were just slightly polished. It was a huge world to explore with npcs everywhere but it still felt lonely to me. Playing with a friend would have been great.
In my opinion Oblivion had the best soundtrack of all the Elder Scrolls games, it all sounded just so.. elegant.
Half of it is from Morrowind but it's true, the new stuff is really great.
To all that are still here 16 years later awesome job of getting to where you are ! See yall in the next 16 years!
Jeremy Soule ❤ ❤ ❤

I listen to this almost everyday, and especially when I’m studying and working on homework. Honestly a masterpiece 🤌🏼
Not to mention there's a quest where you actually enter paintings and defeat trolls with paint thinner.
Alexander M
I've often said this about oblivion, and in my opinion, what makes it a better game than Skyrim in the artistic sense.
Nothing will ever match the vibe of this game. It has a lovely serene stillness to it that makes you forget about all your troubles.
Best game soundtrack in the history of gaming, imo !
Jeremy Soule is one of the greatest composers I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Absolutely my favorite game to date and soundtrack.
Thank you for cheering me up. I hope whoever reads this will have a good day.

Best soundtrack to a game ever. So beautiful and playful… the call and response on this soundtrack is next level 👍🏻
I also like the music from Borderlands.
Going from Morrowind to Oblivion it was like oh my God and then we went from Oblivion to Skyrim and all the beautiful color was gone.
they ruined my fantasy world and replaced it with grey!
Favorite game of all time, nothing like the immersion that it provides.
i would sell my soul to sithis for a remastered oblivion on console
racefaceec90 agreed hahaha
Lol no. The void is terrible. Worship the nine. It's the only way to salvation.
hahahahahahaha!
mikerules999 look at fallout 4 on PC.
Oblivion will always be my favourite ES game. Skyrim and Morrowind are phenomenal masterpieces in their own right. But Oblivion was something special

Absolutly epic and magic game. The world, music, graphics and quests are really amazing. Oblivion forever in my heart. ❤
Never played this game. Is it worth picking up in 2023 or is it more of a “you had to be there” situations?
@@CWG74 I've never played the game in VR, but I expect it's an ok experience since you have the option of playing in first-person view (how I play).
Wish I discovered this game in my childhood. This game has hit me like no other game has ever. I love you Oblivion!
so many memories flooding back. This is possibly one of the best soundtracks, in terms of you can just listen to it and you can mentally see the game.
Today was a really quiet day and I was working silently without talking to anyone. This music put me into a meditative mood and helped me to get everything done without feeling lonely. Thank you, Everness!

Daggerfall is amazingly expansize.
Morrowind has the most interesting plot.
Skyrim has the best gameplay mechanics.
But Oblivion is still my favorite, simply because the game world is just. so. beautiful.

I'm sure you'll find this rather banal compared to what other people have said here, but this mix is really helping focus on my work (+ I have a lot of nostalgia listening to this). Thanks!

It did matter. Lol this game got many updates to fix it. So did every game.
Thought with Bathesda that they were called Features, not bugs......enter Skyrim Space Program. Thankfully, I funded by giants.
This is some of the most flawless "music" ever created, regardless of genre or original inspiration. A true work of art.
Timeless beauty, it's 2024 and I still feel calmed by Oblivion's OST. I still remember the days playing it back in the late 2000s. Xbox 360 was a legendary era.

Everybody stand up and applaude and praise the genius of composer Jeremy Soule and the work of Bethesda that inspired his music.
Supposedly, Soule was in a bad crash right before writing the music for this game, and honestly, I believe it, because the music sounds like the type of music I would play if I were admiring the beauty of weeds blowing in the wind, or something else small but pleasant.
ES has some of the best sound tracks. I love this one particularly
This game brought warmth and calm to a chaotic time of my childhood. I would wander the forests just enjoying the scenery and relishing the serenity of it all. This game will always be my happy place.
Me too. I enjoy putting this music on as I explore IRL woods. Replaying it doesn't bring back the same childhood magic, but walking around in the woods with this music feels just right
Oblivion has the best fantasy chill&vibe music of all time.
Play this in the background while I WFH all day, so relaxing and nostalgic, just positive vibes all around
These songs are nonsense. They have been in my worst moments, calming me down. Thanks for so much, Oblivion. Love you
2025 and it still goes hard
Strolling through the fields looking for dragons tongue, this music in the back ground, I was totally immersed. I wasnt a stressed out kid who just moved and had no friends in a new area, I was just a humble Khajiit Alchemy apprentice harvesting ingredients for his professor in the quiet countryside. I could smell the clean air and feel the gental breeze in my mind. I'm an adult now and lifes problems take priority but I'll never forget that feeling. No game will ever bring me such joy like this did.
