      Try a few things. Sometimes the sensors just need to be cleaned and realigned. Maybe they lose sensitivity as well..,sort of wear out? Anyway, the PVC has been working since I made the video so I can’t complain.

    This is totally my problem. Thanks for posting. This has been happening to my wife off and on every morning for the last couple of weeks. Of course it wouldn't do it for me. Figured out today it's because of the time of day she leaves and where the sun is at that time. Great video.

    The issue is these garage door sensors are so outdated in their technology. Take a look at a sensor that can solve the sun issue, alignment issue, coverage issue and also help guide your car in the garage! Let me know if you want to give this a try?

  • @obscenewhirligig

    You fixed one thing you need to oil the garage door wheels.

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  2 роки тому

      Well, you really shouldn’t use oil…a silicone based lubricant is the correct way but yes, they need maintenance occasionally so good call!

    I guess I’m just curious why you didn’t move the sensor further away. Shielding the sensors?

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  3 роки тому

    We moved our sensors back towards the wall. They are always in the shade now but we still have the same problem. We can set trash can out in front of the garage to shade the floor and the door will close, but we cannot keep trash cans outside. I'm thinking the sensor is still seeing sunlight on the floor. Thinking of painting some of the floor a flat black. Any thoughts on what else I can do?

    While your solution works, putting a toilet paper roll over the sensor just looks goofy. Why not move the garage door sensor further into the garage so it’s in the shade?
