A repair guy was wanting $1000.00 to do repairs on my garage because I was having this same problem after paying to have my springs replaced. I took me 10min to fix thanks to you taking the time to video your repair. Thank you
Wow! I looked at many videos but none gave me a solution. My wife came in and said,"The garage door won't stay down".I found your video and did what you suggested and it worked.A happy wife,a happy life. Thanks!!!!!!
great vid, thanks. i didn't know about those adjusters on the motor. i have the same problem of the door bouncing even when nothing is in the way of the sensors. will try this tomorrow.
@@TerenceDIY i adjusted the angle of one of the sensors (the yellow one) at the base of the door as you showed in the vid, and the door stopped bouncing back up and hasn't bounced since. i guess it wasn't aligned well. i didn't have to try the travel or force adjusters. thanks for the help!
@Richard N In my current house I have a Linear garage door opener so idk if this works for Liftmaster and them but you can try holding the button to force close the garage door. After it closes you can let your fingers go. It works for me but idk if it works for all brands. You can try it though
Thanks I didn't realize there was travel setters on the door opener. I was only messing with the downward force adjustments. I have been dealing with this issue for a couple months now and this gave me the final piece of the puzzle after repositioning the belt and tensioner creating my DIY video.
After watching a few UA-cam videos on how to fix my garage door problem, you were the first one I found that showed me how to adjust the force down. A slight turn of that screw fixed my issue. Thanks!
I’m gonna try this tonight when I get home. It used to work fine but all of a sudden it’s acting up. Maybe this will solve my issue. Thanks for sharing!
Funny enough I just needed to clean the sensors and watch the video. The garage door stopped having issues?! Go figure. I’ll keep it in mind for e future though.
The capacitor blew up , so I got a new one and then can’t stayed closed , I got frustrated it was bouncing back up all the time , so after this video all I did was to increase a fraction the close force and it works perfect 😄😄😄😄😄😄😃😃👍👍👍👍👍
I am actually experiencing this today because of how cold it is. but i noticed that when it gets close to being fully closed that area where the arm connects starts to bounce. im not sure whats causing that?
@@bryant5233 So far, so good today after making the adjustments you suggested. You may just need to tweak it a little. I initially thought it was my sensors also. I never thought about a setting on the actual garage unit itself.
@@EarleHolder for me my issue is the arm that connects to the opener rail was loose and when I was closing it would cause the rail to bow which would then put extra tension on the rollers and the door in general and when it would flex it would cause a small break I’m the sensors. So I’ve removed and adjusted the arm so it rolled more smoothly. If you detach the door from the trolley and just run the trolley by itself does it still break the sensor or does it run all the way along the rail?
9:12 into video when it's shut it sounded perfect you finally got a perfect at this point when it's setting whatever you just did at 9:12 into the video that was perfect amount of pressure to shut that door without crashing down on the ground
Great video. My door would go half way down and then go back up. Plus it wouldnt open fully. I adjusted each screw 1/4 turn and it fixed both problems.
Terence, thank you! I’ve watched dozens of videos on this problem before. You nailed it. And you instructed me on how to adjust the system too. Very thankful.
Hey thanks so much for the video. I felt like we were together the whole time. I was going through everything you did. I even replaced the sensors which now i realize I probably didn’t have to do. Thanks man.
Thank you, I was able to correct my garage door) - it turned out to be that downward distance control - seems like a door that does not open frequently ALWAYS has issues.
Greetings, from Chicago, Terrence! 🍻 Thank you *_so much_* for an awesome video. As others have commented, this is the _best_ tutorial for these types of garage door issues. I was able to adjust mine perfectly ... saved me a service call! 💰 P.S. I can definitely relate to the cold and snow! LOL
Down limit is still going way to far, back it off a full turn, and you will be good. Also, on the close force, you don’t want it set to high, otherwise, if it hits a person, pet, car, etc it won’t bounce back up, and it will crush whatever is in its path
Yeah I'm kind of has to extend at the end because it kind of that's how it locks into place but you never want that middle bar to be pushed up you know too far because the whole point is for the arm to kind of push gently push up and then lock into place because nobody can open the door that way
Even though it's closing now you can still hear that it's still a little too the force is a little too strong because when it comes down it shouldn't sound like it's crashing at all it should gently hit the ground so I would even do it a little less if you go back up there and and Fiddle around with that the knob to make the force you know a little less severe cuz it does sound like it's crashing slightly still
If it's bouncing back up I would have thought it was overly wound I've seen that happen where you on the back where that coil is some people will wind it too tight and then it won't shut completely or it will shut for a second and pop back up because it's a spring in the back that's been too tightened but maybe that's not the problem here
