    You are the only video that says to try cleaning the lenses with a cu tip and after being at the end of my rope I was ready to call a repair service but I cleaned the sensors and it worked. Your also the only one that said clearly that one light should be green, one should be yellow, others have said both should be green ? I cant thank you enough, truly, the lenses were covered in dust so a big thanks.

    Perfect video.. Exactly my problem. The garage door would work when it was night or cloudy but not when it was sunny.... Sunlight was NOT hitting either sensor.. The green light flickered on the receiver no matter how I adjusted it... Replaced with the new sensors and works like new... I didn't like the new wire connectors and switched them out with the old twist-ons. Thanks for the video!!

    For the longest time I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t close my garage door from 2pm until dark, unless I disengaged the rope, videos like yours solved the issue, I rigged up some cardboard, cutout to fit above/below the two clip attachments. Seems to work perfect… so far. Lol. Thanks.

    Solution achieved. Replaced positions of the sensors it worked!!! Yes I did have to splice the wires as they were home-run wiring. Already had the wire nuts. Just a few minutes of your time.

    You do not need to strip the wires with the new amber wire connectors they will cut the insulation when you squeeze the amber buttons and make the connection.

    My Garage doors won't close with bright sunlight. I order the Sensor sunblooker kit from LiftMaster and installed it. I still have the same exact problem. That's $20.00 wasted. Maybe I should try a foot-long tube on each end and see what happens. Thanks for sharing your video.

    In my experience, only one of the sensors (I forget if it's the transmitter or receiver, but it doesn't matter), is sensitive to interference by bright sunlight. In my case, the door faces east, so that under certain circumstances the bright sunshine from the south interfered with the sensor on the north side of the door opening. I found that the problem was corrected simply by switching the sensing units, side to side. No new parts, no cost to fix.

      Mine started to have trouble on bright days, even without the sunlight striking it directly. I solved it by removing the sensors and thoroughly cleaning the lenses. I have a pair of new sensors that I am hanging on to to replace the originals if I start having problems again.

    My garage door opener closes part way then reverses and comes back up. I have cranked the DOWN force screw all the way and it still clutches and comes back up - without any blinking light (so it is not the sensors). I can get it down by holding the remote button down, but this still takes several iterations to get it to close all the way. Any ideas? All mountings are tight - the clutching happens even when the garage door is unattached to the opener (no load, still fails on way down). Open works fine...

      that would be illegal in a lot of places as well. having a new puppy and grandchildren I'm going to actually fix the problem so that it works as intended rather than deal with the guilt should something happen. That's called adulting.

    • @timrick2
      @timrick2 Рік тому +1

      This does bypass the safety sensor, HOWEVER,..there is STILL the "DOWN FORCE" sensor that prevents it from crushing!
      You adjust it by putting a carboard box or scale under the door, and adjust the sensitivity according to how much or little force you want. Kind of like an elevator!
      When it reaches your specified force, it will stop and RAISE!
      Unless something has changed, the adjustment is on the back of the motor.

  • @theblackhand6485

    Doesn't the sensor work with a infra red beam? Well the sun sends IR beams too. It will probably interfere. So that could be your problem.
    You could consider to bring the lenses in to a shady area by adding a 'sun screen/tiny roof' above the lenses. Or glue a piece of electrical pipeline around the lenses and thus creating shade.
    Other option: plant a tree on you drive way
    🙈

    • @TightWadDIY
      @TightWadDIY  2 роки тому

      The sensors themselves are in the shade. It’s the light between the sensors causing inference. No issues after replacing them. I think they just lose their signal strength after several years.

  • @theinfinityshield

    The issue is these garage door sensors are so outdated in their technology. Take a look at a sensor that can solve the sun issue, alignment issue, coverage issue and also help guide your car in the garage! Let me know if you want to give this a try?
