  • I'm not affiliated with any of these companies I just love their products. The stand is a LWCG .5, the sticks are LWCG double steps, and the other gear is from backwoods mobile gear. Thanks for watching.

    love two sticks with aiders. made my aiders from chain links as a adjustable double ring attachments and climbing webbing with a fuel hose inside it for a rigid foot section. i just use webbing from my cam buckle set up without the buckle then just tie a bight for my to tree attachment. at the top ive been doing a ring of steps with a ratchet pretty happy with it but every years different then the last still tuning the setup dont think there will ever be just one. keep on.

    Great video. Install the XOP backpack strap system to carry your stand so it's more comfortable carrying the stand and gear on the longer hikes. I still run the XOP stand, lone wolf custom gear is out of my price range. I also don't believe in spending that kind of cash when there is something for less cash that does the same job. Even if it does weigh a little more, but if I'm hiking in a long way I would use my saddle for weight savings.

      Nothing wrong with the xop, I think that and the millenium m7 are both great stands!

    Great video man, I'm curious what the total retail cost is for your setup? My original Lone Wolf Alpha from 1993 is still my go-to mobile stand. Their new gear is second to none.

    I like your hitch where u double the redundancy by doing the double connection. I've used that approach for the top of the car with a canoe or boat. I scout ahead of time & just saddle hunt. I even ditched the compound for the recurve & lost more weight to transport in my system. I have footholds that I leave in 🌳 & I use a climbing cord that I attach my climbing line to so I can get to height & get down & leave so I'm not out there dealing with sticks in the dark. It's a numbers game getting down in the dark w/o some type of rapelling device.

    It looks like your aider is sewn to your steps. Did you order them that way or did you sew it yourself to the steps? Thanks great video!

    • @hooversoutdoors
      @hooversoutdoors  Рік тому

      They can't be ordered this way. You can either sew in yourself or ship your sticks to EWO and they will do it for you.

    Do you have any issues with the stick kicking out since the aider attaches to the bottom of the step?

    • @hooversoutdoors
      @hooversoutdoors  Рік тому

      No, it attaches in the middle so you're not loading weight sideways on your stick at all. I would recommend being in decent shape to use these, you can't let your leg just go weak and kick out from the tree. I just press my toe against the tree and step in the aider. No problems so far

    Did you order .5 with the .75 seat or did you start out with the .5 seat? Having trouble deciding on which seat to get. I'm 5'6" and 175lbs so I don't know if I would benefit from the larger seat or not.

    • @hooversoutdoors
      @hooversoutdoors  Рік тому +1

      I got mine with the .75. I did finally upgrade to their mesh seat and it's way more comfortable. That's just my preference though. Not sure how the .5 compares to the 75

    • @ZombieOnaStick21
      @ZombieOnaStick21 Рік тому

      @Hoover's Outdoors I plan on using mine as a saddle/stand hybrid, so I need the .5 or .75 seat to kneel on. If i weren't doing that, I would definitely get a mesh seat. Did the .75 seat ever feel like it was too big or out of place on the stand?

    • @hooversoutdoors
      @hooversoutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Not at all. I think you'll be very happy with it. That's exactly how my hunting partner uses his and he has the .75 seat too same setup as me.

      @ZombieOnaStick21 Рік тому +1

      @@hooversoutdoors That's good to hear. I don't think I've seen anyone regret going to the .75 seat. That's what I'll probably end up with. Excited to give this setup a try. Thanks for your input, man, I appreciate it.

    How had the USA mod worked for you on the stand? Notice it loosening up at all through your sits?

    • @hooversoutdoors
      @hooversoutdoors  7 місяців тому +1

    Do you wish you had a waist strap? Or is it good enough with just the shoulder straps?

    • @hooversoutdoors
      @hooversoutdoors  10 місяців тому +1

      I prefer it without, I'm always wearing my climbing harness with pouches on the hips so a waist belt would get in the way. This stand is so lightweight one isn't needed in my opinion.

    When you demonstrated putting your stick up the top rung was above your head at full arms reach. When you were done strapping it in the top rung was at your chin which would be 5 feet if your 6 feet tail. Don't see how your getting 18 feet up that way.
