I think it's a gorgeous engine, I especially love the shrouded radiator and fan, as well as the centrifugal governor. Bit of a bummer that it was a rather shoddy build. Someone not mechanically inclined probably wouldn't have noticed the coolant issue and kept running that thing until the bearing surfaces were completely nuked. I kind of get it, these aren't built on a massive factory line. I imagine there aren't a lot of these built at all, so there are going to be cock-ups. That they used the wrong size o-rings, however, was a pretty big cock-up. Especially as these things aren't exactly cheap. That said, I kind of wish someone could get them to make a submarine diesel. I would be all over it like stink on poo if they did, lol...
These scale models are already expensive to the point that the market is limited,. The customers are technically minded enough that small mistakes are allowed if the mistakes are serviceable, as it helps keep the price within reason.
@@Bubu567 I would be willing to bet that much of the customer base is not mechanically inclined in the slightest, and are buying them just because they find them interesting. As a mechanic, I see it all the time. Nothing wrong with wrong with that, by the way, but it does exacerbate any production issues.
I do enjoy the sound of these little engines. For some reason I'm imagining this engine being used to create a scale Armstead/Fordson Snow Motor screw drive tractor.
You have to wonder how much of the brass we saw in the "Million casing" artillery piles from the first (and second) world war has made its way into mundane things.
Pretty close reproduction of the old Holt 75! Good catch on the cylinder sleeve o-rings! That could have been a really bad thing in short order. I'd love to see this running a small genset (i.e. a permanent magnet motor) and load it down with some lights and such. It would probably smooth right out with a load on it!😁
@enriqueamaya3883 LOL, I started to follow Jesus, but he was on his way to his casa bro, and he said, sólo la familia! That the way it is with the Rodriguez clan I guess..😂
Awesome little engine(with its flaws), but what suprised me the most is that it got a centrifugal gouvener controlling the gas. I had to rewatch the video just to see it clearly. Those 2 rotating brass balls right behind the flywheel at 1:16
It doesn't control gas (thats controlled with his finger), but it controls the idle. I don't know if real tractor engines have a governor, but it seems resonable a tractor engine must have a governor if you are using the PTO in idle, since putting a load on the engine in the idle will sag it down, thus you cannot have a static idle that a "normal" engine has.
@@sebastiannielsen Yes, tractors, like most industrial and machinery engines always have a governor. It would be impossiblee to operate a tractor without a governor, not only for the PTO but for normal operation too. Since most jobs are done at very low speeds the inertia is minimal while the load varies constantly and widely, without a governor it would be impossible to maintain a constant speed or even prevent the engine from stalling, the operator would have to be controlling the speed of the engine continuously and that would require a lot of physical and mental effort, distracting the operator from driving and controlling the implements.
This is a Jianzhong Dong engine, and Jin is an excellent engineer. However, I haven't bought this engine, as it is very expensive and has been problematic with water leaks from the cylinder liners. He is selling improved liners, but should be providing them to previous buyers of this engine for free.
There is numerous issues with this engine. The worst issue is it’s running backwards. Jin apparently didn’t pay attention when scaling this down from the real H 75. That’s why the fan is turning backwards and the centrifugal water pump doesn’t work unless you flip the belt to reverse its rotation. It really needs a camshaft designed to run the engine the other direction. It’s still a nice engine. I bought mine off of eBay. You can get them on eBay for anywhere from $500 to $700 brand new from Jin.
Those little engines are so neat. I wish those kits weren't so expensive though. As a tinkerer, maker, and mechanically minded person, I think it would be super fun to get a big box of parts and put together an engine model like that. I would totally hook up a little generator and a string of LED lights or something just to make it do something and be pretty also. If you ever have any kits you want to get rid of, I'm right over here in Southwest Washington haha.
Batteries to work. Hmmm. Try fitting a magneto? Dynamo? Does it have spare ooomph? At that price, & that level of QC, I won't be going for one. Nice vid, thanks for sharing.
it's amazing how many engineers dont understand that o-rings need to squash. the idea is that it's a round cross section going into a square profile and the ring squashes into the angled corners. I've seen engineers cut a 3mm chanel 3mm deep because the o-ring was 3mm.
I love this farm engine it is the coolest engine I have ever seen. It also has a great sound to it. Love your channel and content. Always waiting for the next video. ❤🇨🇦
At 3:32 you can see that the water pump belt is crossed. I looked on the linked website to buy, and it isn't crossed. Maybe that had something to do with the lack of coolant flow? Love your vids!
Unfortunately you have to flip the water pump belt because it’s a centrifugal water pump and the engine is running backwards! They designed it with the wrong rotation camshaft so the only way to get the water pump to pump water is to flip the belt. The fan on the radiator is also running the wrong direction as it’s blowing air out the front! To correct this they really need to reverse the rotation of the engine and make it like the real one by designing a new camshaft. Unfortunately they used the public as the guinea pigs hence the leaking O-rings and wrong rotation of the engine, water pump and fan!
Nice job again, you save that engine. Wen do you make your own engine from scratch, like a hybrid engine, half glow half electric in the same body. Well it's jost an hipótese.
This is cool just wish it could be turned into a diesel or there were a diesel version. I remember there was a way to turn the nitro 2 strokes into a diesel with a fuel that had more than just diesel in it to help it burn with less compression.
For the price of these models it's unacceptable that they haven't been designed properly and need upgraded or fixed out of the box, no matter how simple that fix may be. This isn't the only model engine on this channel that has been disappointing out of the box.
I've never seen anything more beautiful! I would really like something like that! unfortunately far too expensive for me! My grandfather was a farmer in Laussa, Austria, and he had a machine like this, but of course it was big. nice greetings from Österreich
I was interested in getting this but then the coolant issue happened (and after clicking the link, not paying $1,500)..... but still I would totally hook that up to a 12v generator and power something
It would be a LOT more interesting, would you have demonstrated the ability of the engine to accept load (governor response) by giving the flywheel some resistance...
Good evening Johnny q 90. I have a small four stroke engine. M 16 is in question. I am interested in how much oil should be put in the oil pan if the ratio is 4%. Should you use oil for two-stroke engines or oil for four-stroke engines? I usually put 1 milliliter of four-stroke engine oil in the oil tank and make a two-stroke mixture according to the ratio that I put in the tank.
I love watching all your videos you're very talented the V8 supercharger superchargers trying to compress the air in the wrong direction it should spend around to the outside of the case and then as the blades interact with each other it forces the air down to stay in that chamber if they spend to the inside a lot of the boost runs around the outside of it rotors back to the carburetor side and the boost will be more consistent keep up the awesome job love them all
So this means you’re making an RC tractor and miniature farm for it to work on right? 😄
You wish
PLEASE! 😆

Cool engine. I like the big flywheel low speed revving!

yes agree, especially at idle and also similar to Yamaha TZ750. 4 cylinder 2 cycle engine.... crackle. crackle crackle :-)
I really appreciate that you let us enjoy your hobby with you by showing us all these beautiful model engines.
One of the best sounding engines yet! seriously cool!

A fast RC car is something we see all the time. RC Tractor Pulling thats something i would watch. Raw tork and heavy duty gearbox working to the max.
A toast to all the shell casings that left the industry to be cast in a new roll.

I prefer to reload my shells a few times before turning them into can openers.

Appears to be a number of fixes required for a new, out of the box, engine. Hopefully it wasn't too expensive.
