That's because the supercharged car has a cat back exhaust, and the turbo had mufflers still. A stock non-z51 stingray with a cat back exhaust does the same thing lol. It's glorious.
That's not entirely correct. Centrifugal superchargers don't give you instant power...the boost builds with RPM. Depending on the setup/tune, a turbo can give you plenty of instant power. 20:50
I have had both setups personally the turbo is better no belt issues better on gas more power less boost can change my boost level with just a turn of knob
I like the looks of the supercharged one much better. (CLEANER) I honestly think I would prefer the supercharged one for the low maintenance and daily drivability. I really like the AEROLARRI wheels❤ 🔥...👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Love watching your videos and your work, why not show some 60-130 mph times? Horsepower numbers are great, your 1/4 videos with times are great but 60-130 is the new standard and it gives us what a lot of us are doing. Keep doing great things and respect the hustle 😎💪
I really love them both, but since I need to select one, for a daily drive I would favor the super charger, because of the sound, driving is all about sound and fill to me, it’s communicating everything it’s doing and about to do!!! You guys keep doing your yall thing, hopefully I will be seeing BD soon.
stingray and eray have the lt2 with a traditional pushrod v8 setup for gm, which lends itself better to supercharging. z06 revs high and fast which is better for spooling turbos quickly and making more top end power and low end torque.
Good video. For a future video, it would be awesome to see some performance data (0-60, quarter mile); also line them both up and do a race from dig and from roll. Adding a 3rd car with all motor (heads, cam, exhaust, etc) would be cool too. At your 9min mark doing turbo pull in Mexico, was it just me or did the car seem like it was missing as it shifted into the next gear going to redline?
TURBO!!!! My car has twin turbo that rides like a dream. 2016 Mercedes AMG GTs twin turbo down pipe and tuned 650 hp The car I didn’t like was my 2015 Z06 corvette the supercharger comes on to quick unpredictable!!! I would have to get the turbo.
I love twin charging. That's turbo and supercharged at the same time , like Volvo does their small displacement engines. Or hybrid turbo setups that precharge the turbo with electric motors.
@Preppyabababa @thekiddjordann The TT kit is like $21,000 and the magnuson is like $25,000. You could even go cam + flex fuel for around $15,000 and get similar HP (if you have FBO also).
Great video! Are you able to do a video about your stage 1, stage 2, and stage 3 supercharger and twin turbo packages? I already have a FBO/Heads/CAM/E85 C8 stingray and leaning towards the supercharger, but still want more details on your different packages.
yes, we need to do a full in depth video. as of right now, if you have any questions, call our sales team or send us an email too! installs@boostdistrict.com or call (817).210.6699
I live at 7,000' Elevation. 9,000'+ Air Density Altitude Days are not uncommon in the Summer. This means about a 25%-30% power loss just due to the elevation and environmental conditions. Either Turbos or a Roots Supercharger at these boost levels are basically just going to get me back to OEM HP. For the way I intend to drive the Magnuson is the way to go. I don't want to get nuts, I'm good with a GT/Power Cruiser that I handles very well. I'm not looking to live on the redline or Race/Track it... well maybe once or twice, but not regularly.
Very cool setups on both cars. Do you offer a warranty on the car or just the engine, since doing either supercharger or turbo will void factory warranty on engine and drivetrain? Are you using HP Tuners to unlock ECU for engine tuning? Why so much white smoak from exhaust while on dyno? Is that oil blow-by? Supercharged car had more white smoak than turbo, why? Have you broken the code to unlock the ECM to tune transmission as well? To add pressure to clutch engagement and adjust shift times?
I myself is a turbo guy 90% of the LS cars I've owned was turbocharged. But I would love to see a overlay of the dyno and how much boost each system was making and then do a boost for boost test...
That's wild how much it cost. And you'd still get gapped by a kid in a new Mustang GT with a Whipple supercharger installed by the dealer with Ford warranty.
I would love to see an agressive supercharger build to this car. I mean... I know about the 9,97 record pass, but maybe Magnuson isnt THE supercharger to do the job. It´s a shame that Corvettes cant use a Whipple... There are a lot of Mustangs with those 3.0 or even the 3.8L units in the 8´s.
Reliable supercharger kits have been a thing for over a decade now. It's time these companies and tuners offered MORE since they're charging 3x what they were a decade ago. And no inflation is not it. Prices are ridiculous for labor and parts when you consider what you're getting
We have one eray client most likely doing it. It's basically the same as the stingray, which we've done tons off. We'd like to do one inhouse and do a video on and show the data
@@boostdistrict Awesome looking forward to seeing how it turns out. In the video you showed the colling placed i side the tunnel where the Eray's battery sits so I assume you have a different configuration planned. Love your work and video diaries. Keep 'em coming!
If it's Turbo, then it'll be an oil-less turbocharger from Competition Turbochargers. Supercharger: Magnuson, Whipple, Pro Charger, Torque Storm. We're not too picky on the supes...
Why not top mounted turbo instead of undermounted? Also what exhaust do you recommend for 2021 C8 Z51 which gives it that deep tone? I'm looking to add more power eventually
top mount creates a ton more heat in the engine bay. this car is built perfectly to have them mounted low. We have another BD1000 car here with no mufflers that is much deeper in sound - and also another one with a Z06 style center exit
Twin turbo easier to make power down the road which most will do and turbo makes free horsepower without robbing the engine they will make more rwhp and run faster times with the same amount of boost I'd like to see a centrifugal vs lingenfelter
You do great work, salute to you and your team but 20k just to run 10s on a car that already has 10 second potential is a failure unfortunately. The weight and design of that car should do entirely better at twice the power.....
thank you for the kind words! For their potential, you have to compare apples to apples though. in the same condition, same tires, same weight- a stock stingray runs 11.4 in a quarter mile. shaving a full second off and keeping the engine happy for a long time is key. If a client gives us clear instructions that he wants it set on kill and wants to see if it can run 9s for some time, we'd be happy to party too :)
Supercharged cars for the street can’t be beat due to the absence of turbo lag. Two types of superchargers are the positive displacement ones and the centrifugal ones. Positive ones hit super hard down low and r tough to beat. Centrifugal blowers spool up like a turbo but driven off the crank and have a wild midrange and highend rush. I have a Procharger a94 head unit and a meth flex fuel setup that makes 1251.9rwhp. It’s insane where it matters…medium and high speed driving. If your just driving around on surface streets and a little highway use then the positive displacement rocks
I want to take my Eray to ya for some twin turbos, the Stage 1 is perfect for what I want. I just want to smoke my Brothers McLaren 720S in the 1/4 mile. Just got a decent oil leak with only 900 miles, should I have major cause for concern.

Nobody seems to ever post real world numbers. I’d like to see 1/4, 0-60, and draggy times.
I agree. That's a lot of value for the money. I would say turbo because it's easier to grow if you want to go faster, in the future...Which most do.
I remember coming across your website when you were first jumping off. Y’all have came a long way! Kicking ass!

Twin Turbo will make more power to the wheels at the same boost level. Easy choice.

Twin Turbo. Easier to make more boost. The blowoff valve is sick 😁.

Aerolarri wheels on the supercharged car
