That pan is called a Pullman pan! They're generally used for making sandwich or toasting bread or loaves like pain de mie! Fancy tea sandwiches and such :)

Never understood aspic, in general. My grandmother used to make a tomato aspic that had vegetables in it, & it disturbed me lol

My dad still makes aspic regularly. He basically cooks chunky chicken soup with lots of vegetables, then adds gelatine, cools it. Afterwards you can eat it as is or put it thinly sliced in a sandwich.
Everytime yu unmold your jellos i get such anxiety! I don't want it to break!
This is traditional in the Balkan area.You boil spices, garlic, carrot and beef or chicken and make a soup, add gelatin and put it over night in the fridge. Maybe you think it's disgusting because she used a burger but with just the meat it's very tasty, especially the gelatin.

Never a dull dinner night at your house! Family gets on your nerves over what's for dinner again you'll ENCASE it in aspic! When mom made Waldorf salad with clear gelatin, celery walnuts & whatever else was in there as a kid I wanted to protest but ate it anyway. Awesome video!

When I hear the word ' aspic' it reminds me of that one ' Don't hug me I'm scared video' where they explain the ' health shape' and that ' polite' foods that ' keep the body ticking nicely' are bread, cream, white sauce, and aspic. But plain white sauce will make your teeth go gray lol.

No , just dip it in hot water .
I've done that. You end up just slicing off thin layers of the jello. This kind of mold probably wouldn't matter. But aspects are normally done in very decorative molds. I think a hot water bath works better. You just have to remember to dry off the outside of the mold
Also it may have worked if the towel was really hot and she let it rest on it w/o moving it the shaking too early probably cooled it down faster

I finally figured out why your videos are so intriguing....on usual cooking videos and shows everything is "perfect." But the honesty of the struggle you had trying to get the entombed cheeseburgers is so endearing...you are going through what everyone else goes through when working in the kitchen.

Ok, from what I learned being taught classic French cooking, we would line the mold with clear cling wrap, about 2 layers at least 3 inches overlap.We would lightly oil the pan first to get the cling wrap to adhere to the mold, including corners smoothing out as best you can. We chill the mold about 5 min. Then we proceed. Give it a try. May have some creases but not so much to be noticed. Good luck!
