    Can you use Gorilla tape for protection instead of another hose?thanks

    • @ToxicTrucker
      @ToxicTrucker  6 місяців тому

      Yes, you could use tape rather another hose. I would recommend black electrical tape, but I'm sure Gorilla brand tape would do, as well. The goal is to protect your air line from rubbing/vibrating against other objects and wearing a hole in themselves. Anything you can do to add a protective layer is going to help. Thanks for watching.

    Great video, thanks! If you are doing drop and hook, I suppose the trailer is not yours, are owners okay with carrying out repairs?

      I cannot imagine that any company would gripe about someone doing repairs on its equipment, provided the work is done correctly. Airline repairs, as in this video, are pretty straight forward and inexpensive. An owner/operator could either charge it to the company or write it off on the taxes, either way. I would charge it to the company & be reimbursed 100%. In any case, provided you do the repair correctly, the company is far more likely to appreciate the repair because it saves an incalculable amount of time & expense in the long run. In any case, I always recommend doing the repair, even if you don't get reimbursed or write it off the taxes. Time is money, and very few of us get paid by the hour to sit on the fog line waiting on the service truck. Thanks for watching my video. I do hour you learned something from it. I don't have a lot of time to post videos, but I will talk about things that are important as they touch my heart. Another viewer asked for a video about winter driving through Wyoming. I haven't had time to do that one, but maybe soon. Thanks again.

    Hey Bud Thanks for the video, could you supply the compression part info? Maybe something that could be purchased Amazon or retailers, Thanks

      @ToxicTrucker  5 місяців тому +3

      In the Amazon app, I searched "air brake hose fittings" & found these items. Look for the product called "Legines Brass DOT Air Brake Hose Ends Fitting, Sleeve, 3/8" I.D. Tubing, Pack of 5". Those are the sleeves with the crush tabs (similar to the Rook/Castle piece on a chess board.) They get crushed down and bite into the hose as you tighten the outer parts together.
      Also, look for the part called "Legines Brass DOT Air Brake Hose End Fitting, Union, 3/8" OD Tubing, Pack of 2." That is the entire package, including the inside sleeves that get crushed onto the hose.
      Often, these are available at TAs or Love's/Speedco.
      I tried to put a link in here, but I can't figure that out. If you can't find these, let me know, & I'll do a quick screen recording of how I found them on Amazon.

      Most repair shops will sell these connections. Also, you can pull into any name brand shop, like Peterbilt, Kenworth, etc, and they'll sell them. I get a handful from my truck yard mechanics whenever I run low. Loves is always a sure bet. You are correct. You won't likely find these inside the store. You'll have to walk over to the repair shop where the bays are. Also, NAPA might carry them, but that's a crap shoot, really. Best practice is to go to a Loves repair shop. Thanks for watching the video. I'll be posting more as time permits. Hmu with any questions. I'll do my best to help as I can.

    were did you get the uion to repair the hose

    • @ToxicTrucker
      @ToxicTrucker  Рік тому

      You can buy them from pretty much any truck stop for just a few dollars. Service shops will have them, too, so any peterbilt, kenworth, etc. Also, ask your mechanics for a handful of them when you get to your yard. Don't forget the extra air line and adjustable wrenches.

    Whats the name of the part and the size ? And what other things should i carry? Have you made the video of all the parts one should carry?

    • @ToxicTrucker
      @ToxicTrucker  11 місяців тому +1

      It's a ⅜ inch end-to-end connector for air brakes hose. Pretty common at service shops like TA or LOVE'S. Yes, I have another video on this channel about some of the things we all should carry. I'll also be doing a winter driving video (maybe even a playlist) shortly.

    How much should 5 of these cost? Amazon is selling a 5 pack for $60

    • @ToxicTrucker
      @ToxicTrucker  3 місяці тому

      That's probably the best price you're going to find. Truck stops jack up the price on everything, so I would avoid that, if at all possible. Remember, though, that the only part that is NOT re-useable is the ferrule/crimper. If you can grab a bag of those, plus maybe a couple whole sets, that ought to do you fine.
