Buy Slakjak adjuster tool American made built to last. It lets you check the slack adjusters without pressing on brakes and you can pull the slack adjuster way out. Was looking for a tool to do this and this is the best one I found, it will last you a life time.

How does the slakjak measure slack movement? It doesn’t … it’s just a tool used to help pull on it but it does no measuring

So the correct way of measuring brake stroke is with the service brakes applied only correct?

Just wondering newbie here why are you shutting off the truck after getting to 100psi is It for noise comfort when checking under the truck or is there an issue checking it at 125psi? I was also wondering how many PSI should be applied to test the slack adjusters I know the kenworth in this video shows how much pressure you apply

You can still get a violation if they don’t fit the guidelines.

When you got your CDL, you were trained to check the brakes on your pretrip, and had to recite that step when you had your pretrip inspection test prior to taking the road test. You, the driver of the CMV has the responsibility to verify and sign the DVIR stating that the vehicle is safe to drive. And THAT includes checking to make sure the brakes are in adjustment. Or not, if you want to be like that clown who killed those people at the bottom of the mountain in Colorado... 3 square meals and a cot for life!

I recently had a driver complaining they were to pick up a trailer and claimed it didn't have any brakes. After hearing this complaint in conversation several times, I asked, "What do you mean it had no brakes, and how did you determine it?" After the driver calmed down, i said, the truck doesn't have a Johnny bar, so when you coupled to the trailer, did it move easily? They said yes and was able to move the trailer around the lot without pushing in the know. I asked, "Did you attempt to visually check the brakes?" No. Since the trailer has auto slack adjusters, did you attempt to pump adjust them? The driver said all of that wasn't their job.

Be sure to grease your slack adjusters... stroking while dry can lead to friction and unpleasant consequences 😅 if you stroke too hard... you may prematurely blow an airline 😏 it's best to find a partner to help you stroke as stroking alone can be a frustrating experience 😆 🤣 💀

Is there any other way to measure breaks without going under the truck. If there is no break indicators on it?
