    Thank you for your appreciation. First, I must say that listening to your voice makes me feel that this guy has a great attitude in life and that your heart is in the right place because you sincerely wish to help people out by making this video. I have used these fittings before and they are extremely hard to get it right, on a thicker rubber hose like the one you have here because they are being extremely squeezed. It is far better to not screw the screw in all the way when it comes to the point of pushing out the hose. Look, I am sure you have given it some thought about why this has happened (I am referring to the damage done to the hose) What has happened is where we see that tear a considerable amount around the hose, if you could bisect that brass fitting you would see that all that outside layer of rubber has been completely peeled off the entire area of the hose all the way to the end, that connection has been completely compromised, only the inside ribs of the fitting are holding the area that has been damage the outside ribs of the fitting are not holding anything it has been peeled off. For these thicker hoses the only way possible to be able to screw it all the way in and it is still quite difficult but it must be put in a vise and as the joint is being tightened it must be watched very carefully and once and if when seeing the hose is just starting to squeeze out go NO further. Hope this helps.

      Hi. Thanks so much! Yeah very good points! It’s not a perfect fix, but I’ve had it on here for a few years now and the hose is so worn and weather check anyway. I say keep these as a quick fix as a back up, but for mobile guys the hoses get so much usage over the year it’s better just to replace it when it gets worn and cracked like this. Thanks for those great pointers! 😎👍🏼

  • @robertrlkatz6890

    The damage would be mitigated if you had used the dish-soap, you had allowed the hose to slip out of the sleeve while tightening the bolt, you must not let hose slip or the hose will slip outward on those threads and they will rip off the out layer which in turn will weaken the hose and with use because of the flexing of that area the hose will give out.

    The Dixon instruction video doesn't show a screwing of the ferrule onto the hose. Rather it shows a slip fitting. When you screw the adapter in it locks the hose in the ferrule. Perhaps it doesn't matter but for those who find that the ferrule they ordered is just a slip fitting over the hose, there's no need to return it for a smaller (screw on) size. When the 11/16 ferrule I ordered was a slipfit over my 11/16 od hose I thought I had ordered the wrong one (based on this video) and was going to return it. Fortunately I found the Dixon video.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 роки тому +1

      Hi What do mean by the wrong size? Can you share the video you are talking about? Are there two different types of fittings, a threaded one and a slip fit? Because I only found the threaded option and the hose had to be threaded in to fit. I also bought the wrong size at first, the 1/4 one, which was very obviously the wrong size. Then when I got the 3/8 it fit perfectly, it just needed to be threaded in. It still works to this day.

    • @jerseyjim9092
      @jerseyjim9092 3 роки тому +1

      @@MirandaDetailing If you search Dixon Procedure 2305 the video should come up. The way its described on there is that the threads inside the ferrule aren't so it can be screwed onto the hose but rather they grip the hose as the adapter is screwed in. My 11/16 hose fit perfectly inside the 11/16 fitting . If I had purchased the 5/8 fitting I would've had to screw it on as you did which apparently works fine too. Who knows, maybe it's even stronger. I'm just glad I didn't have to return mine for a different size.
