      It's still a neat system. Which, if you think about it, makes it very much the same as your first impression - just less of a coincidence. Even better, perhaps, as that makes these things more likely to happen. Well, that's what I think, anyway.

      Meh it's more jarring for me. Really wished instead of just spawning the Orc captain right behind you they'd wait until you meet the Orc later on, although within a reasonable time frame. Only time it works is when there's a hunter hiding in a bush like in the first episode. Imagine meeting that survivor guy again with a new arm and Nakra next to him saying that. I find it really lazy and almost insulting that they literally spawn the Orc rite behind you. We're not idiots that will instantly forget things.

    • @TobyStartz
      @TobyStartz 7 років тому +9

      1ProAssassin It's an "ambush event" and it's meant to portray the Orc captain as sneaking up on you and only showing himself when you do something relevant to his title. There are a tone of variations of this in the game, like being ambushed after you poison grog by an orc assassin that then berates you for using too much of that poison, or after picking up loot by an orc marauder that tells you that only he is allowed to loot and pillage, and so on. It's not meant to remind you that you just did something, it's meant to serve as funny context.
      It would be less jarring if the orc ambushed and tackled you, which is what usually happens, instead of just standing there and talking.

      Jesse! You don't get xp from regular orcs, only from missions, and captains. So fighting regular orcs won't help you level up like the last game. Also, collecting all the collectibles like shelobs memories and the gondorian artifacts in an area give you a skill point, so they are well worth finding, plus when you get all of them from every area you get two skills unlocked in the game
      If you get this Jesse let me know, if not I will make this comment every time until you respond or I see in a video that you now know this

    • @jasperzanovich2504

      Jsut get them as early as you can, the skillpoint come without level ups so it doesn't matter when you get them only that you have them longer when you get them early. Also you need them more early then later since you don't have your abilities from the start.

    Make sure to get all of shelobs memories, it let's you get a cool skill later that allows you to summon spiders, and you can also upgrade your gems into better gems, make sure you destroy what you don't need as it turns into money and the money can be used on seige upgrades which can become costly. And each gear from yellow and on can be upgraded by doing certain challenges do them especially for the legendary pieces. Cheers! Keep up the great videos.

    Someone probably already said it, but ground executions are used on you know... enemies on the ground. Preferrably stunned, kind of like what happens after a perfect parry, which you do by pressing Y when the symbol is blue. You're doing a pretty good job at perfect parries, just need to get that execution thing going.

    Loss of the Ithil Stone is not the worst that could happen, there is another palantir in Gondor as we know from lore, the Anor Stone, held in Minas Tirith (formerly Minas Anor), though in the end the palantir in Sauron's hand means greater danger in using the other stones as Denethor found out. Of course if Sauron ever got hold of the master stone of Osgiliath that was lost in the waters of Anduin during the gondorian civil war, the Kin-strife, then this would be even more serious business, the master stone could 'eavesdrop' on the others. This Baranor is too pessimistic about their use though :). A man with proper strength of will and mental powers, someone like the Numenoreans of old, and someone with proper authority to use it (the palantiri answer more readily to those who have a 'right' to use it, kings of Gondor and Arnor could use them properly ad had full right and ownership of them, there were people specially appointed by kings to use them too, the wardens of the stones, and others, like ministers of the crown concerned with 'intelligence' and Stewards) of course it's a mental strain to use one no to mention that it requires quite a mental strength to use it more advanced functions. Aragorn had the right and power to use the stones and thanks to that he was able to wrench the stone of Orthanc from Sauron's grasp. Well that's the end of your daily Lotr lore :), tune in to the next episode hehe. Those Shelob memory things are getting weirder and weirder. Sometimes I wonder what the devs thought when they came up with all those insane backstories that were never part of Tolkien's ideas.

    • @gameswithdialogue
      @gameswithdialogue 7 років тому

      Thank you for the information about the stones. As someone who only watched the movies, this was educational and interesting for me.

    • @fantasywind3923
      @fantasywind3923 7 років тому +2

      My plasure :). Lotr as you probably may guess is my favourite fictional world so... :) and Tolkien wrote quite a bit. I could probably also add that main function of the palantiri was communication between each other (so people could communicate using the stones, user of one could talk or actually exchange thoughts that were heard 'in-mind' as speech with the user of another stone, they could also send images and visions from one mind to another). But of course the other function is to see across vast distances, that would allow to spy on things far away, with proper concentration to even the most miniscule details, of course the user has to direct his gaze to look where he wants to see:
      "What did the Men of old use them for?' asked Pippin, delighted and astonished at getting answers to so many questions, and wondering how long it would last.
      'To see far off, and to converse in thought with one another,' said Gandalf. 'In that way they long guarded and united the realm of Gondor. They set up Stones at Minas Anor, and at Minas Ithil, and at Orthanc in the ring of Isengard. The chief and master of these was under the Dome of Stars at Osgiliath before its ruin. The three others were far away in the North. In the house of Elrond it is told that they were at Annúminas, and Amon Sûl, and Elendil's Stone was on the Tower Hills that look towards Mithlond in the Gulf of Lune where the grey ships lie.
      'Each palantír replied to each, but all those in Gondor were ever open to the view of Osgiliath."
      ...
      "The palantíri were no doubt never matters of common use or common knowledge, even in Númenor. In Middle-earth they were kept in guarded rooms, high in strong towers, only kings and rulers, and their appointed wardens, had access to them, and they were never consulted, nor exhibited, publicly. But until the passing of the Kings they were not sinister secrets. Their use involved no peril, and no king or other person authorized to survey them would have hesitated to reveal the source of his knowledge of the deeds or opinions of distant rulers, if obtained through the Stones. 1
      After the days of the Kings, and the loss of Minas Ithil, there is no further mention of their open and official use. There was no answering Stone left in the North after the shipwreck of Arvedui Last-king in the year 1975. 2 In 2002 the Ithil-stone was lost. There then remained only the Anor-stone in Minas Tirith and the Orthanc-stone."
      ..
      "The vision of the palantíri was not "blinded" or "occluded" by physical obstacles, but only by darkness; so they could look through a mountain as they could look through a patch of dark or shadow, but see nothing within that did not receive some light. They could see through walls but see nothing within rooms, caves, or vaults unless some light fell on it; and they could not themselves provide or project light. It was possible to guard against their sight by the process called "shrouding," by which certain things or areas would be seen in a Stone only as a shadow or a deep mist. How this was done (by those aware of the Stones and the possibility of being watched by them) is one of the lost mysteries of the palantíri."
      ...
      "A viewer could by his will cause the vision of the Stone to concentrate on some point, on or near its direct line. The uncontrolled "visions" were small, especially in the minor Stones, though they were much larger to the eye of a beholder who placed himself at some distance from the surface of the palantír (about three feet at best). But controlled by the will of a skilled and strong surveyor, remoter things could be enlarged, brought as it were nearer and clearer, while their background was almost suppressed. Thus a man at a considerable distance might be seen as a tiny figure, half an inch high, difficult to pick out against a landscape or a concourse of other men; but concentration could enlarge and clarify the vision till he was seen in clear if reduced detail like a picture apparently a foot or more in height, and recognized if he was known to the surveyor. Great concentration might even enlarge some detail that interested the surveyor, so that it could be seen (for instance) if he had a ring on his hand."

    • @fantasywind3923
      @fantasywind3923 7 років тому +1

      +Aeiluindae: yeah you're right. Sauron used it quite creatively beyond it's intended purposes, he could affect other users, either outright dominating their minds (like in case of Saruman) or influencing through deceits (like Denethor, additionally the struggle with the will of Sauron who tried to always draw Denethor to open confrontation, caused the Steward to age prematurely, Denethor naturally never directly faced Sauron through palantir, if he did he would have been dominated):
      "He was too great to be subdued to the will of the Dark Power, he saw nonetheless only those things which that Power permitted him to see."
      ...
      "He can, maybe, by his will choose what things shall be seen by weaker minds, or cause them to mistake the meaning of what they see."
      ...
      "[circa] 3000
      ... Saruman dares to use the palantír of Orthanc, but becomes ensnared by Sauron, who has the Ithil Stone. He becomes a traitor to the Council."
      ..
      "Saruman fell under the domination of Sauron and desired his victory, or no longer opposed it."
      ...
      "Easy it is now to guess how quickly the roving eye of Saruman was trapped and held; and how ever since he has been persuaded from afar, and daunted when persuasion would not serve.... How long, I wonder, has he been constrained to come often to his glass for inspection and instruction, and the Orthanc-stone so bent towards Barad-dûr that, if any save a will of adamant now looks into it, it will bear his mind and sight swiftly thither?'"
      ...
      "It must be remembered that the Stones were originally "innocent," serving no evil purpose. It was Sauron who made them sinister, and instruments of domination and deceit."
      ...
      "[It] is said that Sauron had at this time [3018], by means of the palantíri, at last begun to daunt Saruman, and could in any case often read his thought even when he withheld information."
      ...
      "It was only Sauron who used a Stone for the transference of his superior will, dominating the weaker surveyor and forcing him to reveal hidden thought and to submit to commands. [Author's note.]"
      The influence of Sauron could even give a palantir that was often in communication with his mind and will, a certain...luring pull, like it happened to the Orthanc Stone (which was very often in communication with Ithil Stone held in Barad-dur):
      "And how it draws one to itself! Have I not felt it? Even now my heart desires to test my will upon it, to see if I could not wrench it from him and turn it where I would"
      Denethor as a 'rightful' user was a bit more protected by this authority that made the stone better responding to his will:
      "...Denethor could, after he had acquired the skill, learn much of distant events by the use of the Anor-stone alone, and even after Sauron became aware of his operations he could still do so, as long as he retained the strength to control his Stone to his own purposes, in spite of Sauron's attempt to "wrench" the Anor-stone always towards himself. It must also be considered that the Stones were only a small item in Sauron's vast designs and operations: a means of dominating and deluding two of his opponents, but he would not (and could not) have the Ithil-stone under perpetual observation."
      ...
      "In the case of Denethor, the Steward was strengthened, even against Sauron himself, by the fact the Stones were far more amenable to legitimate users: most of all to true "Heirs of Elendil" (as Aragorn), but also to one with inherited authority (as Denethor), as compared to Saruman, or Sauron."

    Jesse in regards to combat, just keep swinging and countering until you fill up your might meter if your surrounded. Then you can just do normal executions instead of ground executions.

  • @Zappygunshot
    @Zappygunshot 7 років тому

    The sneaking thing Jesse is describing is just the nature of using a controller. There aren't enough buttons, so they make the sneak button part of the ground execution button combination for some reason. That's not necessarily Jesse's fault, so much as it's just iffy game design and hardware limitations.

    I have just about 50 hours in this game myself, and this entire playthrough, I've thought Jesse didnt unlock the Execution Skill, because he used it so little that I have never seen it, and in the upgrade menu, I have thought the Brutalize symbol was Execution.
