If you have a digital caliper, measure the inside diameter in fractions, outside and thickness all in fractions like 3/8”. Go to eBay and buy them for $1-$3 each. I do that. I have bought for years from Avet successfully.
Go to Alan Tani’s website. Find the list of bearings on the Avet section. I buy them from EBay. Be sure to search shielded bearings by OD, ID, and thickness. $1 each.
My drags are greased SX through EX 50 and I get plenty of drag always. Be sure to pay attention and after applying grease try to get as much off as possible. Novices slather it on a have poor drag pressure. Don’t be a novice!

Excellent explanation thank you for this useful how to
I’m learning from your videos, thanks
Great video. I noticed you didn't use the red grease in this video. Does it matter what kind of grease one uses on these reels?
I use red grease I guess out of habit, but it works very well. I use Cal’s grease for drags always. Alan Tani swears by Yamaha blue grease.
@@markmayo2853 Thank you.
Hey Mark,
If you want to just replace all the bearings, do you get them from Avet or get some higher performance ones from somewhere else?

Mark. Can you please tell me what/which oil from Getsome are u using ? Thank you.
GetSome 100 from Blue Pacific Tackle. I buy the 4 ounce every couple of years. You buy 2 ounce and may never buy again. Use just drops (2-3).
@@markmayo2853 Thank you...Thanks for the vids too, Saw you BD.
Avet says to NOT grease the drag washer.... but whatever. Awesome video!
I know and everybody knows, but we all grease the drag washers as I’ve instructed on every reel.
@@markmayo2853 Do you know if it effects the drag at all compared to using them dry?
