Great action vid. I am used to fishing with Penn reels because of the fact it made in the USA. But now I have purchased my first Avet reel HXW 5/2. Gonna give this thing at work butterfly jigging here in New Jersey out in the canyon. Hopefully I'll be able to hook up a big boy like you just pulled in. Your company has a great reputation for reels and I hope it lives up to.
I thought all of the fishing up in PEI was catch and release ? I do appreciate that you fished stand up on these great fish. Thank god you did not mimick those knuckleheads on "Wicked Tuna" . So, does the boat split the profits on the tuna you caught ? Do they comp you on the days charter ?I would love to have you answer some of these questions... Tight lines.. Holi-e-Mackeral
Looked like you had a few different models going there. love the 30 narrow, or without the crossbar, for tuna in the under 175lb range. Use the 50n if I know there have been 300lb fish around. Caught a 125lb yellowfin on a MXL G2 MC last year. Took some time and some boat skills but these reels are tanks. There are other good big game reels, but I have caught a lot of big fish on my Avets.
They were using custom rods made by a builder called Armbreaker Rods. I've heard he's no longer in business. I'm not totally sure but I think these rods were built using Cal-star Grafighter blanks, that's what they look like.
We just went to a sailfish tournament, packed all my Avet gear!! Best reels for big game fishing.
I fish Penn reels and I'm planning on getting an avet soon, to top off my collection, can't wait

My Avet 50SDS blows the doors of my old Penn 12/0
i have only caught a 56 pounder but that was like120 pounds
good video but damn I cant stand it when videos are posted as nice as these and you cant tell us which reel model avet or rod that is?
You can see when they pan to the side it's a 50w
Avet TRX 50W, and HXW raptors. I love my HXW raptor.
I have owned AVET and Accurate reels, the AVETs are hands down my favorite go to reel.
Here you be. The full video

Impressive fishing, I was not liking the special color effects though.

catch and release would have been a lot better. Those fish are like pets off the newfoundland coast..
Catch, fillet, and release ;)
Man that's a lot of tuna sandwiches for me, I would sell that tuna to the Japanese they pay well for it I think it might go for $10,000.
Nice production. So did you not bring the fish aboard? Did you really tow it to the dock?
Music was killing me
What did it weight?
Couldn't watch due to irritating horrible music
My friends were using Avets for big land based shark fishing but have now all changed their reels to much trouble,e with them
Everyday Leg day
Avet reels should make a purple and gold reel as a tribute to Prince. There's a good idea.
havent they already made every color combo that exists.
I was under the impression that Prince Edward Island was strictly catch and release?
For a few peoples of the tuna size it’s 600-1000lbs tunas.
I just purchased avet pro Exw 80/3 speed
I just ordered a avet exw 80/2
looks delicious
Needs way more Reel Sporting.
That's too tuna fishing u could catch one on a cigarette butts
How much drag were those TRX reels set to max? And the 80?

These are 50trx models with 100lbs + of drag. Besides the high drag number these reels are undersized for these fish
@@Owen-r2jthese fish can be in the grander type category. Not what I was talking about. We don't get them on the West Coast.
what was the name of the rod u were using

9 videos and 8 of them are about magic cast
Uh oh. We got BD'ers on UA-cam. There goes the house ;(
How much did they give you for it?
what brand of rods ?
Is a avet exw 80/ 2 a good reel for bluefin tuna fishing?
yes definely
I have just gotten an AVET EX 50/2 and I thought it was a 50 wide but it seems to be more narrow than I expected but it's still a 50 wide right?
Nah, the ewx is the 50wide
The ex is the narrower one. Probably a solid 70-80% of the line capacity the ewx 50/2 holds
@@willanderson6053 yeah I hold 800 yards of lime 80
looks lke an avet 50w trx.
What model was the silver reel that landed the BFT?
This is on my list, nice video man.
Make that a ;). ;). ;). !
Rods??
Dame it boy
Curious about east coast blue fin, are the anglers allowed any take, or, does it all go to the boat?
Per posted fishing regs in both states: 2023 NJ east coast: Tuna, Bluefin Jan. 1-Dec. 31 or until season is closed.27" to
