    Waking up Saturday morning in Michigan was beautiful, after the rain on Thursday and the rain/wind on Friday. The weekend was perfect. Pure Michigan! The view from your location is awesome!

    The blower may not be really loud. However it is the pitch that is annoying. A blower with a larger fan blade may be better tolerated.

    • @OffgridwithJayandJen
      @OffgridwithJayandJen  5 місяців тому

      I agree. I bought a different fan.....the ones you use to vent the fumes from a boat bilge area......it was quiet and used less energy, but didn't move enough air....so my boil was slower.

    Doesn't the hair drier have exhaust that will get trapped inside the cooler? Make it burn up inside? Just wondering

    • @OffgridwithJayandJen
      @OffgridwithJayandJen  5 місяців тому +1

      No exhaust.....it all gets pushed out the front with the air

    nest update. maybe think about putting 4 EYE loop bolts ... one at each corner of the solar (the one that follows) and make tie downs as one would for a canopy or tent ... good things leaves are not in full growth with such wind, .. pat

    Hi Guys,
    My iPhone decibel meter read about 52 db with the cooler top closed and 67 db when open. That was taken off my tv speakers. Not very scientific but it gives you an idea. Had new gutters installed last week. We’re starting on a landscape makeover this week. And, I’ll probably have to start mowing this week. Enjoy spring in northern Michigan.

      Hey, thanks David for the test......I honestly thought it would be more quiet, but it really helped so I couldn't hear it from farther away, which was nice

  • @samspeaks9413

    Thanks. I made some modifications last year and it help my evaporation rate by a couple gallons per hour. Besides the forced air, I'm replacing some fire bricks with ceramic cloth which is a better insulator. I'll keep them around the fire box but only half way up. I want to get to ten GPH rate. May not make it, but I'll try.

    • @OffgridwithJayandJen
      @OffgridwithJayandJen  5 місяців тому

      Nice....ten gallons per hour would be nice. I really like my size rig...but the firebox is a bit small....makes it a full time job to add firewood and keep the pace. I'm keeping an eye out for a small upgrade

    Good idea Jay. Thinking about installing a forced air system in my evaporator for next season. Do you think it saves or uses more woods.

    • @OffgridwithJayandJen
      @OffgridwithJayandJen  5 місяців тому

      Hey Sam.....I wish I had a better more factual idea buddy. I know I can really get a ripping hot boil with it on. To compare.....I used about 2.5 face cord of crappy soft wood and poplar to boil this year, and we boiled 600ish gallons of sap. I think I get about 4 gallons an hour boil on my 20x40x6 inch deep pan. Hope this helps a little.....I did 6 batches of sap this year and bored about 24-36 hours each boil, with some breaks at night

    I bought the tiny Jakery a few years ago to power my CPAP during power outages. We use it on a daily basis to power our old tablets so we can keep them plugged in, since the batteries don't hold a charge for long anymore.
    The Jackery has greatly extended the enjoyable use of our tablets. The Jackery "lives" on the table between our living room recliners. :-)
