- Riding out an epic 73 mph blizzard in my cozy van, stranded in deep snow covered roads. Surviving the most Severe Blizzard of my Life. Winter Van Life Camping in Extreme Snow Storm & Hurricane. This was the worst blizzard I ever experienced in the van, the winds where up to hurricane force, and even though I was hunkered down and camped in between buildings, it was nearly tearing my van to shreds. I got a lot of trouble with snow leaking into the seams and joints of the van, the exhaust for the heater getting clogged up. A lot to handle and crazy extreme blizzard, snow storm and hurricane conditions. It was awesome to film!
I make coffee, talk about my heating system and cook egg and avocado burritos, and I wait for the plow truck to hopefully arrive so I can get out of there.
Part of the series:
Surviving my First Arctic Winter of Extreme Van Life. Solo in Hurricanes, Blizzards, Snow Storms & Camping in Extreme Cold Freezing Temperatures.

My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Hakkapalitta studless Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in America - USA and Canada.

That was one nasty wind you went through Jarl. I've heard of guys dumping a pot of hot water on those propane heater exhausts to get them cleared. Not sure if that would work with the Truma. It's times like that when you find out what works and what doesn't under severe conditions. I'm glad I watched this, I was considering the Truma for my build. I think I'll go with Webasto. How far up North were you?
The Truma is excellent, as long as you run it it will not clog up, I have used it every day for 4 months through the winter without any faults, and I was able to clear the clogging with a little screwdriver.
@@Roadghost88 Truma is the company that has set the "standards" for all other wanna be copycats. I believe Webasto requires Diesel whereas the Truma requires Electricity & or Propane.
Yeah it is a great unit, you can also get a diesel version of the Truma
eating burritos, drinking hot coffee, enjoying extreme weather conditions, reading a good book and the van rocking you to sleeping...like a baby, what can be more satisfying than that?
Not much:-)
There's nothing better than being inside of something warm and windproof while it's terrible cold outside.
Very true, it is fun to be on the outside for a little while as well
❄ It's comforting to know that I am one of many thousands watching this video right now ❄
Haha, hopefully:-)
Yea it’s not easy to find people with such great taste!👍
Love will always watch blizzard videos. Very comforting to watch. 👍👌🏻🤝🤗🤗
Awesome Alan, new one today, with a blizzard of course
I love hunkering down in inclement weather when you're prepared for it. Having the necessary tools, supplies, and shelter mean everything. You're only missing a dog for security and companionship.
Wow, your winter van life adventures are absolutely captivating! Surviving blizzards, snow storms, and freezing temperatures while camping in your Fiat Ducato van is both thrilling and inspiring. The cozy feeling of the blizzards and snow storms you captured in HDR truly transports viewers into the heart of the Arctic wilderness. Keep sharing your incredible experiences, and stay warm out there! ❄️🚐🌬️
Thanks, will do!
Wow this is incredible and I admire your courage and dedication to showing us what global warming really looks like🤠
Thanks Mike!
My heart rate goes up just watching this! I can't even imagine what it would be like to sit in that van with all that chaos going on outside. You are a brave man.
It is quite exciting lol
Luv sleeping and feeling safe in the van during a snow storm like this. Look at the strong cold and merciless wind blowing. Luv this madness 😊
Thanks, glad you enjoy it!
Here's an idea. Keep a hand held hair dryer in your van. Next time you can use it to melt the ice. Works great on frozen pipes.
Your videos make viewers feel like they're experiencing the cold and wintery conditions with you!
Glad you like them!
Hi Jarl. Here's not much I can add to the accolades others have already expressed. Absolutely stunning footage, and I'm so glad you remained safe!
Glad you enjoyed it Barb!
Your work deserves to be seen and thank you for teaching us city dwellers who know nothing.
I appreciate that!
This is by far your best video yet. It's like we got to spend the day with you hunkering down from the storm. I hopebyou make more like this one.
Thanks Sandy!
it may be your worst but it's one of the best extreme weather condition van camping i watched
Thank you so much, I have a longer version coming out soon or in the fall:-)
I was so cold watching this. I was under my electric blanket, drinking hot coffee and it was 60°F (15.6° C) out. You have such an ability and talent to capture the feeling of actually being there with you. So glad I didn't have to shovel the snow. Thank you so much for the wonderful adventures you take us on. Stay safe in your travels. Mary
That is awesome Mary!
Glad you survived
It is something about your videos that always have me ending up in bed under the covers with some hot chocolate . Thank you for letting us live vicariously on your adventures. 💜❤️💜
You are so welcome!
I love this sort of weather.
It is awesome
Thank you for recording this for us to watch and mostly importantly please take great care in that very very bad weather many thanks may god bless you for recording it
Thank you too
I love having a drink and watching weather like this!
Awesome!
what a comforting and cozy life knowing youre in a sturdy, warm home on wheels in the middle of a harsh and deadly blizzard 🥶 😅
I was worried that window was going to be ripped off when you opened it! Crazy weather. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Thank you!
I don't think I've ever witnessed a snowstorm of this magnitude. The wind is violent. I love the sound of the wind. You just keep on keeping on. Your videography is incredible, black and white, naturally. I hope you are warm enough. Be safe!
Thanks Candy!
Jarl. We cant get rnough of the storms lol. Ill love it even more when we get to the rainy weather. Never a dull moment with you my friend thanks for always bringing us along.
Thank you my friend!
Thank you for creating this video. Just came across your channel and that's great. As i moved onto a healing journey and finally starting to take control of the life, essential living in a van has been my long-life dream, but never had the courage to do it, but now I do. Thank you for creating this and many other videos for others to experience it in some essence at least and pushing me towards getting a van and live the life. All the best to you on your journeys.
Awesome Matt! Good luck on your healing journey, hope you find what you are looking for!
You'll Never see A I put out an epic nature video like this
Hopefully not
Growing up and living in northern Maine (USA), we get some very strong blizzards. During blizzards our small house shakes and groans, so being in a van during a particularly nasty blizzard must have been harrowing...AND FUN! The shaking and rocking would have put me right to sleep. Stay safe and keep the great videos coming.
Thanks for sharing and watching!
Wow the scenery is amazing and so beautiful.
Thank you
I was just thinking that I’m really glad you weren’t in your tent for this insane storm! Extremely awesome to watch though. As always, I’m grateful that you share with us.
Thank you Carola!
Of all the millions of videos on you tube, I happen to be watching this from the comfort of my bed somewhere in north west Ireland. Thank you.😀🙏
That is awesome!
Im watching from southern ireland love it
Nice!
Hello from Canada. That's a nasty snow storm. Here I have seen winds of almost 140kmh which I believe is over 38m/s. That much wind is not normal here but I've seen it quite a few times. I drove a snow plow for many years and it's nice now to be able to enjoy winter a bit more.
Thanks for sharing
Awesome video. with hurricane force winds, not sure I would have stayed in the van, with a perfectly good cabin sitting right there, made it made for a great video, showing the force of nature. be safe, from a south Texas fan.
Thanks Clint, I was more concerned with issues that could happen with the van so I stayed with it, like a captain on a ship I guess
Super healthy menus!
Im watching from my cosy bed. That storm looks terrifying especially with the van rocking. I would have been awake all night with hot coffee.
I love the snow!! Cabin area is beautiful. Although, I was concerned about your safety. When you were outside. The wind was so strong, I thought it was going to blow you away. Please stay safe!!❤
Outside is not a problem
Years ago, my husband and I experienced similar situation in a travel trailer Ev. The ice/snow dripping was actually condensation, if you could figure out some sort of dehumidification without power you would notice a big improvement. Big shout out from Northern Canada, keep warm and safe journeys!
Thanks for sharing!
Magical and scary in the same breath!
Thank you
Every goof ball in a van in winter has nothing on you !!!! All Hail the King of Winter Storms on the road!!!! 😊
Haha, thank you so much! 🙏
The Van looks pretty modern but its still not sealed, wow. Anyway, your Meal looked fantastic🍛👌 and the wind seemed almost like it hurts🌀. Thx for ur stuff...
Best video of blizzard on UA-cam, hands down 😊
Wow, Thank you so much!
Uh. Yeah. W😮W ! The ultimate would’ve been to b n a cabin with a roaring fire. Bless the Grey Warrior. Where did the silver cover go that was on the grill ? It blow away ? It’s probably n Russia by now.
Those burritos looked really good. I’ve got to try that.
Thank u for filming this. I would’ve been laying n that back the whole time. But u just keep going for us. Till next time.
👍🙏❤️‼️🥶
TJ
Haha, yes this was something else! The cover on the grille I only use when it is very cold, it wasnt that cold during this storm, maybe minus 10c or 14f 🫶
*What a Snow Hurricane you experienced in Norway ! 🇳🇴 Very imposing and impressive display of Mother nature. I'm glad you are at your family's cabin and not out by the side of the road somewhere far from any protection or cover from the direct impact of those hurrican force 1 winds !*
Thank you very much Mark!
I love blizzards, when I’m safely at home. In Southern Minnesota, U.S. where we have farms and few trees the wind would climb to hurricane forced winds. We had no blizzards this year in the Twin Cities, which is very rare. My husband’s family is Norwegian, I guess we share a kinship! Safe travels!
Very cool, we had a brutal winte here
Always good to have a few heating options for redundancy. It wouldnt be a bad idea to have a 2 or 5 KW Chinese Diesel heater as a backup.
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
This is certainly One of the Best Snowstorm Blizzard videos in a camper I’ve seen. Unfortunately, We don’t get such snowstorms in Singapore to cool the weather down abit. 😅 The Only thing missing however is the crackling of a Campfire. A nice cup of Hot Coffee or Chocolate might suffice for now. 👍🏻
I think your beautiful Van camper would need side stabilisers for more stability during harsh windy winters.
Thank you!!
Do you ever get scared? That wind is brutal in a van..beautiful country thank you for sharing it. Stay safe
Not scared, but concerned, I am very careful with what could be dangerous. This is not dangerous to me, but it could damage my van and gear.
You could be in a tent lol
Best film yet . Pushing the envelope is fantastic.
You have shore power.
I hope maybe you upgrade your van to not need shore power .
Be invincible.
The footage is amazing.
People in their warm beds are living adventures through you 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks
That was crazy!! I wonder, what's it like inside the cabin(s)? They seem well built and sturdy.
It is nice and cozy inside the cabins
I worry about you, my dear Norwegian X, when the weather is so extreme. But I trust that van of yours to keep you safe!! Also coffee. Thanks for the adventure of arctic Norway. (In spring??)
In spring yes, we have the worst weather in the world really lol
I thought we had bad weather today,we had torrential rain, nothing as bad as you have ,stay safe,😍😎
Thank you!
I love ypur vlogs and vontent. Thank you for letting us view the Scandinavian extreme weather through your eyes. Wishing you the very best for now and your future adventures 🙏🏽✨️
Glad you like them!
OMG! Thank God ur safe & survived such horrible situation...Keep safe & stay warm...Cheers✌✌✌🙋🙋🙋
Thank you!
Wow! Just amazing…I love the piece with you having dinner with a raging blizzard viewed through your window. Your Van is a true extreme weather champ. As always, stay safe my friend.
Glad you enjoyed it! That was an epic moment for sure!
So crazy weather to watch 😮😮😮 Today we have such a beautiful spring day with sunshine 😊
I can imagine, sounds very nice my friend!
That's awesome thank you for sharing this with us 😊
You are so welcome
Grateful you, & your van, have remained safe thru more amazing weather conditions. Even tho you HAD to stay there for couple days, it is good to know just how sturdy your van is in these extreme conditions, is it not? Well, thank you for sharing your adventure of being "stranded"! The blizzard! The hurricane force winds! And then YOU got outside too! I think I could feel the sting of the wind on my face & the cold landscape all around! Your filming is captivating! Stay safe out there ! Thanks so much for sharing your adventures with us! I love going along.
Thank you Carol!
show us inside the cabin !!
Just descended from the warm mountains of your 5 hour journey through the wild west...😊 I immediately find myself in a storm of Jarl's new adventures... 😊
Haha, great!
I also like Winter - cold, lonely houses, everything seems to be made of ice... Fighting for life against the elements... 😊❤
"А он мятежный ищет бури, Как будто в бурях есть покой" М.Г.
The storms seem to find me
Surviving a blizzard in a van is like playing extreme snow roulette! Glad you made it out alive to tell the tale!
No heating brrrr. Back to bed, snuggle down
Am in bed watching eating ice cream ❤ from the UK 😅
Good choices!!
Fair play putting yourself in nature's worst. Living life in the best possible way. Experiencing that looked awesome. Getting out of modern life's comfort zone !! Keep it up well jealous.
Absolutely! Thanks for the kind words!
Nope, no way, I cannot stand that weather even though I live in the Northern US and we get it. Spring and Summer are my happy times.
Ok

Glad you enjoyed it
What a great life you have. Can't wait to start mine 🥂
Have fun!
Watching from Mauritius - really love your videos for its authenticity. Can't wait for the next one!
Awesome! Thank you! Mauritius , that is so awesome!
Even though you were stranded for a few days in that absolutely intense horrific storm, you could take comfort that you were at your family cabin and not in the middle of nowhere with no shelter available. Excellent chance to check the full limits of your van and and work on the worrying areas in the summer. Loved your video and your yummy supper.
Stay warm and can't wait for the next one 😊
Thanks, I have actually never been more exposed than I was here inbetween the cabins, it is a wind tunnel when it blows from the east
Oh Mr Xplorer here I thought you were looking fairly relaxed even though your van was being shaken around quite a bit. Meanwhile you sitting in a wind tunnel of note checking how your van is coping. Your sense of adventure and bravery are legendary 😊
Love it!!!!!
Thank you!
Very impressive and thanks for posting these superb video's!
Glad you enjoyed it!
