Why do all the work of having to take the top off/front off/remove the tub? I could access my thermal fuse easily from the front. I didn't even have to take the the silver vent tube off. It took less than five minutes to swap out the fuse. I have a Whirlpool Duet gas dryer.

to fix your flat tire, first remove the hood of your car. Loosen the belts. Lift the engine and then empty the gas tank. After removing the floor boards, you will notice the tire. Make sure you mark the tire you need to inflate. It's simple. Just follow these directions exactly.

  • @unclesmrgol
    @unclesmrgol 5 років тому +15

For those who think just replacing the thermal fuse is sufficient, there's a reason to take the silver vent tube off. The thermal fuse blew for a reason, and the reason may well be lint having collected in the exhaust system (which is what the thermal fuse is monitoring). So, to assure that you start off with a very clean exhaust system, pull the silver vent and dust/vacuum the interior of the box, and use a q tip to clean the squirrel fan. Also pull the exhaust piping at the rear and make sure the entire system internal to the dryer is clean. Check your exhaust piping outside the dryer and make sure it's clean too. If you don't, you risk having to do the thermal fuse replacement again shortly.

From having just done this and seeing a lot of comments. I'd say you can absolutely get to the fuses without having to do all this....but follow these steps because once we removed everything, it was quickly apparent how much dust and other debris were in little cracks and crevices, especially the exhaust. It takes an extra 10 minutes but could open up some areas to clean, definitley helps limit the fire hazard. Take the extra time to do a thorough cleaning and prevent your house from going up in flames. :)

Well, this is one way to do this particular repair. I have a Whirlpool Duet that required replacement of the thermal fuse shown in this video - same part # and location. However, I accessed it by removing the dryer top and back, then reaching in to make the swap. That allowed easy access to this and other parts that might require periodic replacement. It took me under 20 minutes.

@@ilovemywife2685 Honestly, I have no idea. My dryer was a 10 year old electric model. I went through it replacing parts using the most likely/least costly to least likely/most costly method. After just about rebuilding it, without success, the only thing left was the circuit board. The one I ordered was the same part number, but was a late model revision and didn't fit. I sent my OEM board out for repair, and that resolved the problem.
Taking things apart is how I learn about them. I now have a 10 year old appliance that's as good as new, at about 1/5 the cost of a replacement, and I now know that appliance in and out. It wasn't about fixing it in 5 minutes vs 45. I'm not a pro, and I'm not on the clock.
Keep plugging away at it. You'll get it fixed, and learn something too!

B.S. you dismantled the entire dryer when all a person has to do is remove the bottom front cover then the blower cover plate!!!!!! You turned an easy fix into a major ordeal for NO frickin' reason.

I thought the same thing with the lower panel removal. You could test the fuse at that point but removing it would be a little tougher. The problem with mine was the smaller/inner thermostat so this video still helped. You could rename the video to suit, "Accessing the thermal fuse & thermostats"
Also mine had a mass amount of lint inside so I probably saved a fire!

I don’t normally comment on these but this is a flawed fuse replacement video. Only the front panel needs to be removed. Showing the rest of the breakdown without explaining that it is only for a better camera angle is really poorly done. There are better ways to do this than to unwittingly lead someone down a path of fully dismantling their dryer with the possibility of leading to a new problem.

Take a hint from all the comments. This video is ass. You should have clearly shown how to access the fuse from the bottom panel and THEN proceeded to show how to remove all the other stuff if needed.
Or you should have made a separate video.
It's really that simple. We're not stupid.

Why are you taking all this off??? Entirely unnecessary , you can get to it with just the bottom off

This video is just trying to justify the $300 bill you just got from the repairman to replace the thermal fuse. I real install literally only takes 5 minutes and only taking out 3 screws. Part is only ~$5 on Amazon.

    Wtf????
You know you can do this by removing like 5 screws from bottom panel right???
This should be "how to dismantle a dryer for no reason"
