  • Another busy week of gigs and I tried out a great way to clean up you old tarnished mouthpieces! I was really surprised how well it actually works.

    Nice one! Researching further I have seen that adding salt helps with the reaction, I guess it acts as electrolyte. Worth trying.

    What warburton cup are you using?

      The two in this video are 3M & 3 SV - I haven't played them for close to 7 or 8 years though. I went onto them to gradually reduce the rim size I was playing on (without having to keep buying a new mouthpiece), but then switched to GR. I even went down to a GR64 at one point when I was working in the West End. I've now gone completely the other way and play a big Monette B2S3 which I've been on for nearly 2 years and have no thoughts of switching from, I love it!

    Do you just rinse it off with water after?

    • @duncanfraserjazz
      @duncanfraserjazz  3 роки тому

      Yeah, quick rinse under the tap and it’ll be shiny as new. Have you had a go at this yet? Let me know how you got on!

    Just use brass polish or silver polish. Even Barkeepers Friend will make it look brand new.

      56dlp nice. This way is kinda cool and sciencey though! I felt like Bill Nye 😂

      @@duncanfraserjazz Toothpaste works great also I've heard. One thing about silver polish or brasso is that a small amount of the silver plating does come off. Not much, but some. Just gotta keep that in mind when using polishers. I had an horribly tarnished Olds 7C mouthpiece that had been sitting in a case probably since the horn was new in 1970. Barkeepers Friend made it look brand new again. I was amazed. Cleaned all the polish off with soap and warm water before using it. It's like a super 7C now!

      @@56dlp I know it's an old comment, but others may still find this video, so I'd like to add, that you should never ever use toothpaste on anything except your teeth.
