I got my G29 for £120 from Argos Black Friday sale last year. It's a pretty good wheel. For me the main advantage over the G25 is having all the extra buttons so you can adjust brake bias, pit strategy etc. without the distraction of having to reach to the keyboard while driving.

Why reviewing this gear again, good low entry gear PS gear, PC too. Not as good as a real Car, cheap and good enough to play games, not needing anything pro.

I just got the wheel and for me is garbage compared to my old G25... Pedals suck with the rubber... I'm using G25 pedals and stupidly G29 still only reads only almost half pedal like if it had the rubber, the rest of the travel is always at 100%...
After one hour of use for the first time with FFB set to like 80% on Assetto Corsa, now while turning to the left even without power the G29 makes a metallic whine noise.
FFB works very bad and worse than G25, the new software is a 300mb+ of all-in-one garbageware from logitech when I don't even own anything else from them, it only uses more space, more ram and more processes on windows for crap that I don't care, they could have made a simpler wheels only driver...
Also there isnt almost any settings and nothing to test the wheel like the old G25\G27 software had, windows devices read the wheel as a generic controller and can't reduce FFB anywhere other than on game settings while on G25 I usually used 70% max FFB power and could leave any game at 100% and the software kept the wheel with lower FFB output so that it doesnt wear the motors faster and so that they do not heat a lot too, now I have to keep setting up FFB for each game grrr...
PS: Coming from G25, G29 is pure garbage, and the buttons on the G25 shifter were much better for like handbrake and shit, now I can't hard turn while pressing a button built-in the wheel for handbrake and the G29 shifter doesnt have a single button as far as I know, haven't bought it yet. with G25 shifter we could just use the semi-auto setting and use it as a handbrake (I'm probably gonna try finding a way to resolder the connectors of the G25 shifter to work on G29).

This wheel is great. The force feedback is great for drifting and racing because the force feedback is powerful and detailed.

Good review. My T-150 (which I've had for the last 2 years) is a very good introduction to sim racing. The force feed back is good enough to understand what the car is doing and it responds to input very well, but wear and tear has taken its toll and I have been thinking about an upgrade for some time. The G29 has always been on the cards but the price has put me off. Today I went to a well known uk technology exchange outlet to see if the had any wheels and they said they had a T-150 so I thought I'd see what condition it was and asked to see it (as my current one is knackered) the sales person brings out an absolutely mint condition G29 with pedals. I look at him and I ask him how much is it..... £88 he says. I look at him to see if he realises his mistake and he just looks at me... I'll take it! He bags it up and off I leave with a used T-150 (which is really a G29 in mint condition) This is what happens when you employ staff who don't have any product knowledge!

I have raced with a G27 for 8 years and liked it so much when they came out with the G29 I purchased a second wheel that never been removed from the box. I have had no reason to change to the NEW G27 sitting in my closet as the one I'm using with well over 100,000 laps on it. How competitive am I ? I have won the Daytona 500 and the Indy 500 I have won the championship in the TOUR-Mod division one, There are surely many better than I am but my point is no matter the wheel I have raced with drivers who are 6000 IR with mine being 4100 , I don't believe a $1500 wheel would rise my IR measurable amount. The fact is a wheel will not make a 3000 IR driver a 4000IR driver. Would it raise my IR 100 or 200 IR maybe but that would bring me little if any additional victories. If you have the money and just want a $1500 wheel I'd recommend buying one because you want it! But if you are looking to improve your finishes against the same competition that you can't beat now then you be wasting your money! I have beaten drivers with much more costly wheels and I have lost to them as well but over time the same drivers as in the real world come to the top more often it comes down to setup, skill and time you wish to dedicate.. One thing I noticed that like in the real world younger drivers over all tend to be faster! Age will play a factor no matter no injury worries my guess the reflexives of the younger simply show up... Anyway I have raced with the G27 for over 8 years and enjoyed it I don't feel like I have lost any of my races due to my wheel. I'd recommend up grading pedals before wheel the braking is critical and throttle response. My up graded pedals improved my lap time slightly on Ovals , while not much I do believe they would be a better choice for your first up grade. At 61 I'm enjoying every bit of this hobby and look forward to my next race and my next up grade maybe a direct wheel who knows but I will not do so in hopes it brings me more wins but just simply a better feel maybe more real.... race on a racing friend.

I've heard a few criticisms of the brake pedal feel and response - It feels pretty real to me - and I've owned a variety of sports cars for real over the years - a lotus 7 kit car copy (why the hell did I sell it, best and worst car I ever had), two mid engined Itallian sports cars (both rusty X1/9's - I know exactly why I sold them) and more recently a mid engined car with paddle shift - Ok it was just a Smart Roadster but handled great but needed 3x the engine power and better waterproofing - it was killed by a 8" deep puddle. I'm loving sim racing - so much more afordable - and my G29 wheel, H shifter and pedals have made me very happy. Makes up for the minivan needed by my band.

i own both the g29 and t150 pro. I disagree that the T150 has a better force feedback or is smoother. The G29's wheel rim just feels so much better than the regular T150 wheel which feels cheap and plasticky. The T150 also makes unrefined noises and sounds like something may be breaking inside of it. I like the higher resistance that the G29 wheel provides. The pedals are no comparison. The T3pa pedals that the T150 pro come with are nice, but they have too little resistance. The G29 pedals are just as nice to look at and you get more feedback from them. The Brake pedal on the G29 took some time to get used to, but once you get used to it it is a better brake than the T150. To me it's not even close, the G29 is the better wheel, it feels like a higher quality product. My 2 cents.

The g29 was my first (and still my only) racing wheel/pedal set. I've had good experiences with it and would recommend it to anyone looking to get serious into sim racing. I've had some hiccups trying to use it on older games, but I chalk that up to the games themselves, not to a fault of logitech or the g29. I do have the shifter, as well, and can say that while it works and does add a degree of immersion compared to not having any h-pattern shifter, it feels much more like a toy than the wheel and pedals themselves. I wasn't a fan of the 'two stage' brake pedal, myself, and removed the rubber block inside the spring. I think it makes the brakes far easier to control, myself...but your mileage may vary.
    Great review, RC.

i run the G920 on PC and Xbox, great wheel, i would advise A-Frame for better stability, and you are so right in regards to the leads being under the wheel, when setting up my Gear shift had to undo it all to plug it in, and i noticed i have squashed 1 of the leads, i just modded my gear shift duie to logitech not being sequential cost me like AU$1 lol. thats the only think that let me down, yes i know you can buy the mod kit online but 2 screws and a 40mm O ring done.

I've used G29 myself long time and say its really good but only downside is the rattling issue caused by the engines it runs with. it can be altered with modding work but no way I take the risk till I can afford direct drive wheel in the future or possible replacement ^^'
with pedals I plan to get better springs there and alter some stuff, to see how it works out eventually.

I was inbetween the R29 and the T300RS, when i rad on the net how many People had problem with the T300, something like more then 50% had dying motors or other problems so i looked up the T500 it didnt had those problems but with H shifter it costed a lot more and im a casual driver, first how often will i play racing games, i play everything across and have phases where i play 1 week long just one genre of game.
I rather got my self the G29 + H Shifter for 250€ and with the Difference to the T500 + Shifter i went out to the Theater and other stuff with my Wife.
In the End i did not regret getting the G29, for how often i use it, the T500 would have been a waste of Equipment and my usage.
If i really want to get into racing competive i would push everything out of my G29 till it dies and then i would get the T500.

Should this wheel be durable enough to let him drive with it. He's a strong guy and I don't want him to loosen the stiffness of the wheel. Thanks.

Personally, I would take the TMX Pro (It's basically the same as the T150 Pro, but it's for Xbox) because personally I prefer the looks of the TMX over the G920* and I like the pedals a little bit more and the shifter, even if its way more expensive, it has 7 gears**, you can use it as a sequential shifter, the quality is better and you can easily change the gear knob
    *I'm on Xbox
**You don't really need 7 gears, but it's still better:)

Id recommend geting the shifter as well ..it really feels good altho its a bit too easy to shift ..but on 3DRap.it you can get mods to modify the shifter to be: Harder to Shift, Equipped with better clamps or turn the Shifter itself into a Sequential shifter.
G29 is my first Real Wheel i bought (Because my HAMA Thunder V5 is absolute garbage) and i am amazed how it feels. but im somewhat scared of wear and tear over time ..i heard that potentiometers can wear off and stuff but it should be easily replacable ..

I have the 920, and let me tell you... I wish I got a G29 instead. This thing has been trouble out of the box. It's so bad that it's been dropped as a compatible wheel on a lot of modern releases because the firmware on it is garbage. I love how every time I'm playing a game paused in a menu the wheel wants to rotate all the way to the left, that the brake pedal is stiff as a board (I took it apart and took the rubber block out. Much nicer now), some games can't adjust their sensitivity with this wheel.... The only thing it has going for it is it's stealth black.

  • @brazen6850

For anyone with a G29 and suffers from the infamous wheel squeak, I can attest that this fix works (* Warrantee WILL be voided *):
    1. Disassemble the wheel base so that the 2 motors are exposed as demonstrated in this video: ua-cam.com/video/DxT2UOmHN-I/v-deo.html
NOTE: (there are A LOT of screws, make sure to keep them in a safe place).
    2. Spray some WD-40 or any other comparable lubricant in the vent openings at the bottom of each motor (it's a bit hard to tell which motor the squeak comes from so I sprayed some in both).
    3. Give the wheel shaft a few turns and make sure the squeak is completely neutralized.
This completely got rid of the annoying squeak noise when turning left/right and made the wheel infinitely more enjoyable to use. I was contemplating sending my g29 back to get it repaired but I was confident that it was a simple fix and had the right tools for the job. Hopefully this helps someone out as this fix just isn't readily available.

Just wanted to point out regarding having a clutch without a separate shifter what's the use? Well if you want to drift without clutch it's almost impossible hence why even if you don't have a shifter you should use clutch and you can use the paddle shifts to shift, also the pedals are heavier so no sliding as much as a two peddle set. I have a t300rs with t3pa pro that I bought separately main reason why I prefer thrustmaster over logitech is due to the ffb like in logitech its had gears which means loud clunky and not very smooth and accurate ffb especially when you get gear skipping compared to a belt driven wheel l. When I had my first wheel which was thrustmaster f430 ferrari ffb wheel and then later got a g27 it was like night and day difference. Even though the f430ffb was only 270 degree wheel the ffb was miles difference to the g27 it seemed like the f430ffb was much higher quality and more expensive even though the g27 was higher tier wheel.
