I had my g920 for 7 years and it just broke a few weeks ago. It had some problems going along, and I can say that I opened it up more than 5 times to fix things. However it did the job really well and now I'm upgrading to a fanatec csl DD! so yeah, from a personal experience I would recommend it for beginners.
Can't forget the fact that the logitech wheels are so modifiable and allows for custom wheels for a cheap price without having to pay for hundreds for a brand new wheel style. Heck now since the pro pedels are out you can upgrade for better pedels so that adds for even more customization.
I just picked up a g920 for $270 at best buy. the Moza R5 is $670, the fanatec csl dd is $570. (CND). I personally would not compare the g920 to those other two wheels. Thats a huge price jump.
Yours is close to the top so I'm leaving this comment in hopes that it will help someone else when considering a g29 vs others or whether upgrading from the g29 is worth it. CONSIDER WHAT YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO PLAY. I am a Gran Turismo child that has converted to PC full time. No problem, the G29 I've been on since 2016 made the switch easy peasy. But I got to watching YT videos and then found a deal on an open box moza R3 on eBay.. and I "upgraded." My initial impression is that the hardware is indeed better, but the software and game support fucking sucks balls lol. I mostly just play PCars2 and gt3/gt4 Spec II in pcsx2 since retiring my ps4/gt7. I basically just mapped buttons in pcsx2 and off I went. PCars2 has a selection in the menus specifically for the g29. There is zero fuckery. As a former playstation kid, I don't want to research online and fuck with settings for 4 hours(as I have literally just done) to still not be able to race. I want to hit a couple buttons and game. That's the end of my rant, hopefully this helps someone else in the future.
I bought the G29 last week and I am very happy with it. As it's my first wheel I didn't want to overspend, because DD wheels are very expensive in my country (Poland). I got G29 for 250$, when T300 is around 450-500$ and Moza R5 is like 800$. The choice was obvious, but for its price the old Logitech is still a solid choice for begginners I believe. Also - they are known for its reliability.
I'm just looking to race casually on FH5 and AC and so I bought a used setup with shifter and stand included for $200. At that price and everything included, it's worth it. I'm planning to tweak it a bit by removing the little rubber block in the brake pedal because I feel that the travel is too shallow, doing the M3 screw mod in the shifter to make it feel more tactile and less like a toy, and thinking of 3D printing the H shifter magnet mechanism and shift knob, total cost less than $20.
For full price, not really. But it is often found at under 250€ new. And for that price, it's unbeatable. Also, this rhetoric that DD's are so cheap now that the Logi and T300 are just not worth it anymore is simply not true. You need to consider that DD bundles dont come with clutch pedals and rarely come with desk mounting clamps, so you'd need to buy those separately and have either a very sturdy desk or very rigid wheel stand. Mounting a DD to a normal ikea desk is just not a good idea. Also, a Fanatec shifter costs almost as much as an entire g29 on sale. And because of course noone in their right mind will pair a Logi shifter with a Fanatec or Moza R5, The cheapest acceptable option is a TH8A, and that is 150€ alone on that, maybe the new TH8S at 70€. So there's additional cost already. And remember that people that are looking at the level of a G29 or a T300 are usually looking for something to mount and dismount fairly easy, and for something that is RTR without much faffing about. So can we stop misleading people into DD's without looking at the bigger picture and not just the price tag of two completely different offers?
I think DD wheels are at a price point where they make way more sense now. And DD wheels are a far better experience than the G29 or 920. The force feedback on a DD wheel is amazing compared to the gear driven G29/920. I went with the Moza R5 bundle and couldn't be happier. Night and day experience compared to the G29/920.
I'm about to buy a g29 as an entry level wheel for NR2003. This review was very unbiased and I have a good idea of its shortcomings, but I'm still pretty confident it will be a blast, especially as my first wheel. Great review!
I'm new to racing games in general ... just got a g29 bundle for £160 brand new amazon have it for 50% off at the moment so worth it. Although my down gear paddle shifts down 2 gears for some reason which is abit annoying.
@JumprsOfficial it's fixed itself now... its done it twice for about 2 hours each time in the past 2/3 months. Not worth the hassle of returning it lol. But on a positive note its great... don't expect faster laptimes instantly. On nurburg I was 20seconds per lap behind my controller pace not im roughly 5 seconds slower it takes time to get used to it.
you can modify the brake pedal to make the "stiff" portion of the travel much longer, making it feel much closer to an actual brake. you will have to press the pedal significantly harder however, so make sure you have the pedals secured well. i bought my g29 for 230 refurbished about two years ago and its stood up well so far. make of that what you will.
The problem for me is none of these affordable direct drive wheels offer playstation 5 support (except for the gt dd pro but at a frankly massive increased cost) and I just wish companies would focus on compatibility across all platforms.
You do know that if you buy the GT DD Pro wheelbase, you can attach any Fanatec wheel. You don’t have to buy the gt wheel. Just get the Ps5 comparable wheelbase and buy what wheel you want. Oh yeh it’s a bit costly but this is how I’m looking at it, for myself, I love sim racing and am happy to pour money into it. So £600 for gt dd pro 8Nm is going to last years and wil in the end be great value.
After experiencing Fanatec's absolutely horrible customer service, by horrible I mean "We'll get back to you later" customer service, I'll stick with my G923 as much as I want to upgrade.
I got a G923 for about 50% off last Christmas. I don’t know how much the force feedback mechanics differ to a G29/920, but the true force does weirdly help to make the feedback feel less clunky and more real
I’ve had my g923 for about a half a year and it’s done amazingly, it’s a solid wheel for starting off but if your planning on staying in sim racing for a long time, I would just save up another $100 and buy the Thrustmaster TX leather edition so that way you have much more options and the ability to change your wheel easily
I got a g920 with a gear shift for $190, im pretty happy with it for that price. Pretty good deal in my opinion especially from a second hand game store
These prices are around 400-500 euro for pedals and steering wheel, but Logitech has shifter pedals and steering wheel for only 300 euro its a big difference it´s not comparable.
I own one so im biased but id say yes. Its probably the best starter wheel and its regularly on heavy discount at sale times (black Friday and prime day in the uk mainly). Its compatible with consoles which is important for a starter wheel since users are most likely to either only have or want to use a comsole. Definitely a safe move to try out simracing before you go whole hog and put the money down for like an csl dd or something.
Older video with a new comment...I bought my G29 as I bought American Truck Sim. back in 2016. That was over 9,200 hours of playtime ago, according to Steam - It's worked so flawlessly over the years, that I've had zero motivation to get something else. It just works...well
I'm in brazil. Setups better than a logith like a belt cost at least 2 times more, and a direct drive 5-10 times more expensive. So I started 1 year ago with a logitech 923, basic cockpit and some simple mods(inverted breakes, unite brake and clutch, magnetic shift and sequencial gear). This whole setup is cheapper than a cheap direct drive wheel , so I think the cost-benefit of a logitech is still good in some parts of the world.
I'm currently still using one with my Playseat Challange seat. It's a great living room setup that you can build up and remove quickly. I also just bought the shifter and an adapter for the playseat to have a stick shift for older cars or rally racing. But after some hundred hours of playing Gran Turismo, F1, WRC etc. on the Playstation the belt slowly gets annoying. The rattling just doesn't feel good and the settings differ highly from game to game. It's perfectly finetuned for GT sport and GT7, but in other games it's really hard to find the right settings. So now I'm playing with the idea of upgrading to a DD wheel. The CSL DD seems an obvious choice, but I've heard that the build quality is even lower than on the G29. Than there is the TM TGT2, but shelling out 700€ for belt-driven system still feels odd. Than there is the new Logitech DD set, but it's again very expensive, but lacks the ability to swap out your wheel. Like havibg one for GT and one for F1 would be great for this pricerange. Moza seems interesting, but I haven't heard much of it yet and I don't know how the support on PS5 is for that. Any recommendations for a 700-ish price range?
Just checked to see prices in my country, where the minimum wage/month is around 1.300. The G29 brand new is around 1.600. A Fanatec GT with pedals is 12.000. A Moza R5 with pedals are around 6.000. R9 base and wheels No pedals, around 9.000. So I guess other brands have a looooong way to go before they can be a good deal over a G29 around here.
Pretty similar here, minimum wage/month on my country, especially the city i live is $163 usd, the brand new g29 shifter included is $300, Moza r5 cost $665, but there’s cheaper option compared to g29 which is the pxn v10 $260 shifter included. but a lot people didn’t recommend it as the build quality arent that great
$300 is like the perfect price tag. We need like a belt driven wheel or a direct drive wheel for this price. If someone can do this, they get money money
Interesting video, though here in Canada, the DD wheels mentioned would cost double the price of a G29, if not more, so given that I don't need something super advanced, the price isn't really justifiable
Got a G923 and rattle noise started 2 days before the 2 week return period. Quickly sent it back and soon after ordered a GT DD Pro. Night and day difference! I feel like I’m driving a real race car and that’s only with GT7. I’m getting ASC and F1 23 when they’re on sale soon
I have my G29 now 3 years. And yes...its still a good Wheel to start. But... I think i will change soon to a DD, because the mainproblem of a geardriven wheel is, you never will have this direct control feeling.
I picked a g920 up new yesterday on sale from B&H tax free. Main reason is because of the new Forza on Xbox. These other wheels that were mentioned are for PC. I think the g920 may be the best option for xbox. I also didn't want to pay more than $200. It's crazy to see people listing these for $250 used on FB marketplace when I got it on sale cheaper.
2024 September, price update from Spain: You can get a Logitech g29/920 for *219€* directly from the manufacturer, while Moza r5 bundle is *415€* and Fanatec CSL DD QR2 Ready2Race Bundle is *400€.* Keep in mind, nor Moza's or Fanatec's bundle comes with a clutch pedal, if you want to include that, it will set you back around 40€ more in both cases. *Prices might vary according to your location or if they are on sale*
I just bought one. ive never used one before and not reallly planing on playing simmracing that much but definetly trucksims. Does it still hold up as an entry level wheelfor its price?
Just a heads up for anyone looking to buy Moza, my r9 wheel base that is less than 3 months old failed and also the quick adapter broke, I was in touch with Customer service but they stopped replying to me all together. Look elsewhere or buy from a US retailer. Do not buy directly from them, they’re based in china so there’s nothing else I can do but take an L.
The price tag for DD wheels is deceiving and I think you are adding to that misconception. You can't just take the price of sim racing gear on face value. The wheels and pedals themselves are rather affordable today, yes. But first off all the ergonomics of DD wheels are based around hardmounted rigs, not table mounting. Good luck reaching your shifter or keyboard when the rim sits twice as far out as a G29. It's very awkward. But I guess you can live with that (I did for a few months). The dealbraker comes with load cell pedals, which you most certainly want when you get yourself a DD wheel. Oops, thats another few hundred bucks for a proper rig and a ton of space you need. It's also likely you cant use your normal monitor setup anymore, so either you adjust if for simracing, worsening your setup for normal gaming, or you buy a whole new setup just for simracing. The spending loop is something a lot of simracers are all too familiar with. When you consider all of that, wheels like the G29 are suddenly a lot more cheaper and practical again.
Exactly. And that’s why the G29 is still going strong. On top of that, you can still set great lap times with the Logitech. I can’t count the number of times I’ve outpaced people who used high end DD based rigs.
In the UK the price gap is simply too massive to ignore. G920 when on sale can often be had for £150, CSL DD 5Nm with a desk clamp and pedals, or similar set from Moza cost around £500
I just sold my G29 setup for $250, the old logitech pedals were awful and ending up breaking so i bought fanatec csl pedals with a clutch and everything, and later got a wheel stand, spent close to 600 on all of this, but had to lower the price significantly because I would keep being lowballed or people messaging with 0 interest. Can not wait for my fanatec setup coming soon.
I have a g920 and play ATS and ETS2. Now, these games dont support true force so pointless spending money on another wheel am happy with the g920 it does its job perfectly well
They’re not worth it retail but I picked up a Barely used g29 with box for $125 today. For an entry into sim racing.. that $125 is going to get its hours worth
It will help with general reflexes. But unless you are playing a proper sim game, it probably won't benefit you much. I wouldn't get it for the sole purpose of practice driving.
I've recently gotten interested in sim racing again and I'm still running an ancient Logitech G27. Honestly, a lot of the G29/G920 is basically the same, even the newer Logitech H-shifter still works mostly and connects to the same port in the wheel base (I had to replace my old G27 shifter years back from a break). I think the main thing about this racing wheel is that it's just a really solid, affordable package in a lot regions where higher end sim racing equipment is just a bit too expensive. I've got my money dedicated to other hobbies so upgrading the wheel and/or pedals isn't a high priority, and I think for a lot of people who are new and unsure, or don't plan to invest as much time and money into this hobby, would get a lot out of the Logitech wheel.
my first wheels had two or three pedals, the wheel and two buttons. i even modified it to put both buttons on the back of the wheel to be more "authentic". it was in the late 90s... at lot has changed since then 🙂
So would everyone recommend this wheel and pedals for a first time buyer? I don't need absolute perfection. Just something nice to use with a Linux PC emulator setup.
No. With options like Cammus C5 and Fanatec lowering the prices on their DD wheelsets it's a complete waste of money to go for Logitech. Just don't. DD is now the only option as far as I'm concerned and you need to not fall for the trap of "start with (fill in the blank non DD wheel)"...you'll ALWAYS upgrade, always. Save your cash and do it right out of the gate. As always, awesome job Oscar!
@@dirtinthebox32 I actually like the T-300, had it for years actually. It's smooth enough and the different wheel options are pretty cool. But the price, like the price of the G29/923 hasn't dropped in years....they just aren't a good value anymore. DD has dropped to just about the same amount of money...no brainer IMHO.
I found a guy on Craigslist who was selling his G29 with pedals and the shifter for $120 plus $20 for a stand. I jumped on it right away, and the equipment all feels brand new. I don't know what he was thinking selling it so cheap but it worked out great for me
Well considering 1 year ago the MSRP price was $200 and with the shifter was about $250. So they probably used it for a few years and then sold it for half of what they paid for it.a win win for both of you I think.
Definitely was a good cheap starter wheel, but if you're serious about doing more sim racing long-term just get a DD. When I used my G920 I was afraid I would break it when I was using it. When I use my Moza R21 now, I gotta be careful about it not breaking parts of me.
Damn haha. Yeah DD wheels are dangerous I've seen people actually get injured because of crashes when using such wheels. So I think I'll get me a Thrustmaster T300 when I have the money for it
I think this video is already a little outdated, because the g920 is well worth it now imo, at least for beginners. Its only 150 to 200 if you get it refurbished, making it one of the best deals on the market. Any cheaper than that and you start getting into wheels that have no force feedback at all. If youre on a budget its still a great wheel.
There is a Logitech G923 Trueforce - in 2023 is still best option...its 2020 market release. So i don't know what's bad about that series. Full set + special separate steel mount rack for it (instead of mount it on table every time) +H gearbox shifter is still cheaper than many analogs... What else do you need for AC,BeamNG, Automobilista 2?
It can be a question of what wheels are compatible with what games. For example a T248 is not compatible with Project Cars 2 but the G920 is. So what modern wheel is compatible with Cars?
I literally picked one up today. Was 70 off at Best buy. I'm loving it and my only complaint is I wish the wheel was just a bit wider but that's nit picking it Also it works for PC PS4 and PS5. I'm using it for my PC. It feels like a real wheel not like a plastic toy Very impressed
CSL DD goes for 420 USD, while the Moza R5 is normally 600USD. Comparing a 300USD wheel against wheels that costs 50% to 100% more is kinda stupid. I want to get into sim racing, and videos like these are not helping. Yup here lets recommend 3 wheels that cost up to twice the price.
Ive had the g920 for almost a year and it has given me over 300 hours of extremely fun sim racing. Loved it so much i want to get the Logitech direct drive wheel soon
I am looking for a wheel for the new Forza Motorsport coming out in October. I used to have the official Xbox wheel back in the early days of Forza and absolutely loved it although it was definitely a toy at £69.99 including the pedals. Still managed to set #1 in the world times and won numerous TORA championships. Great memories. So, any upgrade on that wheel should be great. Currently considering G920 or maybe the fanatec CSL DD. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated
I got the g29 with shifter for about €240 back when the first lockdown started in 2020 and still haven’t upgraded yet. Since it’s good enough and the first thing to be upgraded is the way I mount it. I’m moving out of my parents house this summer and I’m getting a whole room to fill with game gear. So I’ll get a sim cockpit but they’re expensive so I’ll try to build my own one probably. This is because I also play allot of farming simulator and want a good place for the joystick I’m planning on buying.
I guess I'm one of the only ones who has a g920 and absolutely hates it. The stiff brake pedal did nothing but annoy me until I got bored of pushing myself backwards and changed the clutch to be the brake, and these days the throttle just enjoys acting like I'm tapping the pedal when I come off it or doesn't always apply full throttle when I'm on it.
"Just a little more" is a slippery slope. That is the justification used by addicts. Look at Fanatec: basic DD and wheel is $450 here, then if you go DD 8 NM and a "slightly" better wheel, you're into $700 - nearly double the cost. That ignores the stupid mandatory extras you must buy such as the QR2, then a desk mount. $800. I don't care what anyone says - that is NOT "entry level".
No, they cost 200 used and up to 250 new in slovenia, i got the csl dd bundle for 460eur total, i didnt try either before the purchase, but everyone says g29 is a toy compared to dd
I bought a used 2-year-old Logitech G29 with a shifter for $207, mainly for ETS2 and casual driving in Forza Horizon 5. Is it worth for a COMPLETE BEGINNER for these purposes? In the future, I might upgrade to something better.
Who in their right mind would buy one new, when used you can find it for $80 to $120? It's like saying "Yeah guys, a brand new iPhone 6s isn't worth it anymore".
Will pick up a used one today. With a playseat challenge. Both for about $300. I will play on xbox, and maybe PC. An alternative was the moza r3 bundle, but that is listed in stores but there is no availability, where I live. It also costs $500. So a seat and decent quality wheel like this to get me started, seems reasonable. I can always resell it later, hopefully for about as much as I bought it. I will look at it as a free loan, if I decide to upgrade in the future. :) Or if I end up not getting into racing at all, and it just ends up gathering dust..
I just picked up a G29 on Marketplace a few weeks ago and while I agree with most of your review the wheel I got does not making those clacking sounds with its force feedback. It’s very solid. I think your wheel has something wrong with it.
Unfair comparison as the Moza & Fanatec cost considerably more. I bought the G920 + G Force Shifter on a sale. Added a pre-owned Playseat Challenge then spent £30 on three easy to do mods to make the shifter, brake pedal & wheel much better in feel & usability. Absolutely brilliant fun on ACC, WRC & Forza, addictive. Also, mine is almost completely silent, maybe a later batch with improved internals?
A fanatec Basic setup (Wheel, Base, pedals (with chuth) and a table clamp) will get me about £474. Moza Bundle is £500 (no clutch) while a G29 will be £270 and I can still trhow a Moza Shifter for an extra £135 (my current setup). I want to upgrade but, so far...no.
Yeah but Dude, it's just not the same,...like honestly, it doesn't even feel like the same thing. The difference between a G29 and a direct drive with load cell pedals, is like the difference between a controller and a G29. I don't even know how to explain it. I admittedly went from a G29 to a VRS DD pro, which has 20Nm, and was blown away. You physically have to fight that thing. I had to pause for a week because I developed shoulder pain. The detail you feel trough the force feedback is amazing. You can't even compare it with a G29, because there literally is nothing to compare. When I'm in VR with the direct drive, I sometimes forget that I don't drive a real car. I gave my G29 to my nephew. When I set it up for him and drove a test lap, I was shocked. I literally couldn't phantom how I was ever able to drive with that clunky plastic toy. Getting used to all of that detail and then getting back to the G29, was like losing one of my senses. I'm not even joking. That said, I had fun with the G29 and If I had never tried a direct drive, I wouldn't know what I was missing,...and again, I went to a VRS, which is a lot stronger than the entry level direct drives, so the difference (purely strength wise) between a G29 and an R5 for example will be very noticeable but not as dramatic as I experienced it,...and you can't mount a strong dd base to a table. You would need a real rig (aluminum profile, not playseat), which is expensive too.
@@mementomori4972 I don't think you understood what I meant. Of course you can't compare the hardware, and I know what you mean, as I do have a Fanatec. But you also have to consider that not everyone has the budget for a DD kit, specially when a complete G29 cost the same as just a Fanatec wheel and base (specially considering I made that comment a long time ago). While yes, I would say buying a DD is the best bang for your buck, it is not for everyone's need.
@@SewerShark I understand, but many people are like "why would I buy a dd when a Logitech is so much cheaper" and make it sound like they're comparing somehow the same thing, just because both wheels a round. You know what I men? It's not even an argument. Either they want a direct drive or they don't, so why even watch a comparison and complaining about the price? Yes it's more expensive but it is that much better. It's a question of priorities. I'd rather skip on the next iPhone and the party on the weekends, save up and buy real equipment. If you're a gamer a G29 will probably be enough, but if you're a sim racer and not an alien of some kind, you need good equipment to be competitive. I know your comment is older, but people who drop by are still reading the comments. Cheers mate.
@@SewerShark My dear lady, there is nothing to assume. You either want direct drive, or you want something else. I don't compare a bicycle to a motorcycle just because both drive on a road and complain about the price of the motorcycle. A motorcycle is not a bicycle and if you want one, save up for it. Also don't assume If I assume or what I assume. See, works both ways ;)
Almost professional, good production however I found myself becoming impatient with the length and frequency of the loud music with the moving camera shots of the product. You obviously try really hard to do well, and thought you might appreciate the knowing one little thing that could be improved in my opinion. Even dropping the music volume a bit during those segments would help, it's significantly louder than your narration.
Logitech certainly made racing accessible to everyone. They still have their place as the gateway into sim racing, and a perfect for anyone who wants to try thing out before committing to it. I certainly got into it because of Logitech, I would never have committed hundreds more dollars on an unknown brand before trying things out on a known and respected brand first, because one know what to expect.
I dont have drivers license, I never drove a car outside a controller at home, but got the urge to drive sim racing and bought this, and this video made me feel good that i bought it since i literally have not even a clue how shifting works and anything
First time getting a set up and the price is what really made me go with the g920 for $215. Ill definitely upgrade, but for being brand new to sim racing i couldnt justify spending $400-500
Just picked up a 920 w/shifter off FB market for 180. Got it for BeamNG. I love just driving around and smashing into things. Tired of using an Xbox controller. It'll be leaps and bounds more immersive being able to use the clutch and shifter. Paddles will be great for cars/trucks with more than 6 gears

Can't forget the fact that the logitech wheels are so modifiable and allows for custom wheels for a cheap price without having to pay for hundreds for a brand new wheel style. Heck now since the pro pedels are out you can upgrade for better pedels so that adds for even more customization.

My initial impression is that the hardware is indeed better, but the software and game support fucking sucks balls lol.
@@EhEhEhEINSTEINChristmas shopping and getting into sim racing is my present for me, thanks for your insight
I am thinking of buying it, how was your experience?
polecasz g29?? chce kupic na swieta ale nie jestem pewien, duzo mowia ze slaby ff i bardzo glosne
I just got a g29 and shifter for 440 NZD, absolutely amazing for the casual racing and driving games I play, beamng drive has never felt better
@@CommanderMouse72 Nice! I recommend doing some of the mods I listed, it will make your experience even more responsive!
Yup, I would agree
they are, but don't work in some games
But DD are just expensive.
@@stained36 If by some games you mean Forza, I can definitely say that you can live well enough without playing it on a wheel.

you can modify the brake pedal to make the "stiff" portion of the travel much longer, making it feel much closer to an actual brake. you will have to press the pedal significantly harder however, so make sure you have the pedals secured well. i bought my g29 for 230 refurbished about two years ago and its stood up well so far. make of that what you will.

I just bought an F-GT and a Fanatec csl dd. Your reviews helped alot on making the decision. Thanks👍
Glad to hear! You’re very welcome :))
does the F-GT go 360 degree? or 180 degree
The problem for me is none of these affordable direct drive wheels offer playstation 5 support (except for the gt dd pro but at a frankly massive increased cost) and I just wish companies would focus on compatibility across all platforms.
Yes this is my problem as well. Nothing under $500 that works with PS5 other than Logitech G and a couple of Thrustmaster wheels

I got a G923 for about 50% off last Christmas. I don’t know how much the force feedback mechanics differ to a G29/920, but the true force does weirdly help to make the feedback feel less clunky and more real

How in the world the Moza R5 (€549.0) is "in close proximity to that price range" of G29 (€240)?
It’s got to be the best starter wheel. I’d say if you are wanting to get into sim racing, this is the perfect starter for getting into racing sims.
Thrustmaster t248 is in that price
That isn't a really a good wheel lol @@funnylol6568
Well for now, $99 more gets you the Fanatec CSL DD bundle.

But... I think i will change soon to a DD, because the mainproblem of a geardriven wheel is, you never will have this direct control feeling.
most games don't support DD
I picked a g920 up new yesterday on sale from B&H tax free. Main reason is because of the new Forza on Xbox. These other wheels that were mentioned are for PC. I think the g920 may be the best option for xbox. I also didn't want to pay more than $200. It's crazy to see people listing these for $250 used on FB marketplace when I got it on sale cheaper.
2024 September, price update from Spain:
You can get a Logitech g29/920 for *219€* directly from the manufacturer, while Moza r5 bundle is *415€* and Fanatec CSL DD QR2 Ready2Race Bundle is *400€.*
Keep in mind, nor Moza's or Fanatec's bundle comes with a clutch pedal, if you want to include that, it will set you back around 40€ more in both cases.
That's a really good point.
Underrated comment
The cost in the uk is more like £260/270 and the CSL DD ready to race bundle is £400 icl delivery and VAT.

What would your recommend for sim truck driving?
They’re not worth it retail but I picked up a Barely used g29 with box for $125 today. For an entry into sim racing.. that $125 is going to get its hours worth
Is this advisable to use for practice driving? serious question.
It will help with general reflexes. But unless you are playing a proper sim game, it probably won't benefit you much. I wouldn't get it for the sole purpose of practice driving.
I do wonder how this wheel stands non racing games like Snow Runner or American Truck Simulator as those games are more slow paced.
I've got my money dedicated to other hobbies so upgrading the wheel and/or pedals isn't a high priority, and I think for a lot of people who are new and unsure, or don't plan to invest as much time and money into this hobby, would get a lot out of the Logitech wheel.
would you still recommend it as a starting wheel? DD wheels are very expensive here, and very hard to come by. If not, what wheel would you recommend?
yes its a good wheel. it will last a long time
my first wheels had two or three pedals, the wheel and two buttons. i even modified it to put both buttons on the back of the wheel to be more "authentic". it was in the late 90s... at lot has changed since then 🙂
So would everyone recommend this wheel and pedals for a first time buyer? I don't need absolute perfection. Just something nice to use with a Linux PC emulator setup.
To answer the title, yes, but if you want to be doing fast lap times you're gonna have to put in the work into tuning the pedals and also the FFB.
Yes!!! I agree wholeheartedly. By mid 2024, belt drives will be a thing of the past
@@JoshuaKnab Yeah definitely. I feel like I got my money's worth for sure

Damn haha. Yeah DD wheels are dangerous I've seen people actually get injured because of crashes when using such wheels. So I think I'll get me a Thrustmaster T300 when I have the money for it
Of course it is, considering even the ready2race bundle costs almost as much as a real car
Would advise downloading a LuT file for the G29 for use on PC cuts out the clipping and changes FFB to a Liner progression
That's only for games that utilize LUTs and why dl one from someone else's wheel instead of outputting your own?
Absolutely correct there are programs to tweak the wheel . Big difference .

Since it’s good enough and the first thing to be upgraded is the way I mount it.
I’m moving out of my parents house this summer and I’m getting a whole room to fill with game gear. So I’ll get a sim cockpit but they’re expensive so I’ll try to build my own one probably.

Personally i would say its worth the price but its a better pick to spend just a little bit more for the most basic cls dd setup
Agree 100%
Looking to pick one up today… which one should I pick? G920 for $199 or g923 $279. Pls help!!!
Which wheel and pedals bundle is a better option for the same price? The moza r5 is way more expensive.
Please work on your audio leveling. The audio was everywhere in this video but overall a great review.
@@mementomori4972 also, don't assume what people want or don't want.
I'm not fully committing to sim racing but just a setup for me and my friends to play when they comeover so is this setup worth it or no?
I dont have drivers license, I never drove a car outside a controller at home, but got the urge to drive sim racing and bought this, and this video made me feel good that i bought it since i literally have not even a clue how shifting works and anything
Picking up a 920 w shifter for test drive unlimited solar crown and Forza motorsports. Used to place mid pack in Forza on a damn thrust master TSX
First time getting a set up and the price is what really made me go with the g920 for $215. Ill definitely upgrade, but for being brand new to sim racing i couldnt justify spending $400-500
I bought one today at Best Buy. Paid $219. Is it worth it? I never used something like this. I plan on playing Grand Turisimo.
Currently using a pxn bungee wheel and thinking of upgrading to this. Is it a good idea?
Just picked up a 920 w/shifter off FB market for 180. Got it for BeamNG. I love just driving around and smashing into things. Tired of using an Xbox controller. It'll be leaps and bounds more immersive being able to use the clutch and shifter. Paddles will be great for cars/trucks with more than 6 gears
These are on sale for $200 at Best Buy and Amazon right now for Black Friday
I don’t really want a major sim racing setup. Just pedals and a wheel for forza and nfs. Would the g920 be good for that?
@@Kc_Zeno yes 👍
@@OCRacing thanks! It’s coming today!
You can disable the Force Feedback right? I'm looking for a wheel for casual driving in MotorTown and don't want that noise
yeah just unplug power brick,
