Bonnie Raitt w. Crosby, Stills and Nash - Love Has No Pride - Madison Square Garden - 2009/10/29 & 30
At the age of 65 I know how lucky we were to grow up with such incredible music
You're so right honey.
I am 75 and feel the same.
Especially when people constantly told us music from the 70’s sucked.
Amen Sister!
Me too
No production, no auto tune, no re-recording or final mixing, not much more accompanyment than the acoustic, just 3 musical legends doing it right. It's so real and so good it is almost more than I can stand. Nothing over produced today compares to it.
Her song, I Can’t Make You Love me, brings me to tears
@@suzannegaglie6146 I cloud up a little, myself. The theme of that song happens to almost everybody, male or female, often more than once. Bummer, to say the least.
Amen
these beautiful souls, angelic harmonies, no ego onstage - cause me to remember why living is worthwhile...
Beautiful 😊
Bonnie so deserved her 2023 Grammy for best song! Still amazing after over 50 years in the business.
Overdue for sure.
very deep take on loss...
She’s like the finest wine. Just gets better and better each and every day.
And she is the daughter of a showman.
Just having lost David Crosby on January 18th,2023 this is an incredible time capsule of some of the greatest voices in harmony to last into the future.
what I love about her (aside from everything) is that she TAKES HER TIME . she lets a thought, a note, linger in the air, so you can breathe, it, feel it...
yes, I was thinking the same thing listening to her - takes her time, you can picture what she's singer, feel the pain, Just love her
Music is not only the notes, but the space between the notes. She's a master.
Well said.
You are so right.
If there were an actual Sound that a Heart makes when it Breaks , the way Bonnie sings this Libby Titus and Eric Kaz Penned Masterpiece , would be that Sound . This is Hauntingly Magnificent 💔
She is the best female musician of our generation! Angel from Montgomery, I Can't Make You Love Me and Love Has No Pride are the deepest, gut wrenching, painfully raw songs.
There were several beside Bonnie. Joni, Rikki, Linda?
She's fabulous but no one can touch Linda's version
It’s called “authentic “ folks. Straight from the heart with no fanfare. What a great trio they make. Bonnie is such a treasure. Thanks guys for blessing us with your amazing gifts all these years. You brought us so much joy!
Thanks for replying Bonnie. I have been a fan for years, but have never joined a fan club. Please send me your info. Keep rocking!
This had me crying all through , at the age of 76 . Reminding me of the one love i foolishly lost. Bonnie is surely the greatest female singer . Saw her in London - incredible. To hear her singing " I can,t make you love me " always reduces me to tears.
Been in that situation myself. Feel the same way about those same songs.
This really got me
Now David is gone
It's Beautiful
And yes.. tears for sure
Same here!
Slowly growing old isn't particularly pleasing but feeling fortunate and grateful for living on earth at the same time that these amazing musicians and others during 60's-90's and all the wonderful music is comforting
For me, the truest of singers do one thing above all else...they sound like they're talking when they sing. They sing through the words while they talk about a story that's personal, and often times excruciatingly painful. Bonnie is the epitome of speaking the truth of the author's pen in words and music. She always has been, and always will be, my ultimate songstress. Whether she's ripping it up with her sass, or dripping with emotional vulnerability, she's authentic. Always. She is timeless. And respect doesn't even begin to cover it. Thank you, Bonnie.
4:50 very well said my fellow music lover, she taught me the blues as a child. One of the best guitar players I have ever heard.
I used to go to the local campus coffee house and sit about 10 feet from the stage watching her and her brother play. It was an inspiration.
Musical brilliance. Unmatched. And may David Crosby RIP. I've watched this probably 30 times or more, and it brings tears. Every. Single. Time.
Tears are streaming down my cheeks. Who hasn't felt like this at least once in their life? Love has no pride. She... is beautiful. This performance... perfection.
Righteous 🪶✌️🦋🕉
Too many times for too many reasons for those loved and lost.
Feel the same in 2024...
Her voice just soars to the sky and back... and Crosby and Nash's obvious love for her and her singing brings tears to my eyes. I never tire of listening to her.
Her voice 😍 is still as moody as ever. So are David and Graham's
Exactly right, I can listen to her interpretations of songs over and over and hear different nuances every time... she has so much intelligence and expressiveness in her voice.
Her voice... as sad and lonely as Patsy Cline and as bluesy as Etta James. Bonnie is truely unique.
James Arthur Williamson - well said
Amazing singer and slide guitarist
Honey & gravel.....my favorite
Grabs my Soul! Bonnie is Queen, in my book!
Well said!
No dancing bears, exposed midriffs or gyrating pelvises, just pure harmony!
Two of my all time favorites, Bonnie Raitt & CSN!
You know that CSN toured with the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia played pedal steel on Teach Your Children, and that several members of the Dead played on Crosby’s “If I Could Only Remember My Name” album, right?
@@altheatoldme And in exchange for playing on that song, Graham taught the Dead to sing harmony. Workingman's and Beauty were the result.
@@jondoe8889 “You know, people started this whole thing about how the Grateful Dead learned how to sing harmony from Crosby, Stills and Nash. Bullshit,” Crosby told Variety in 2020. “We didn’t teach them how to sing harmony. They knew already. What happened was, we listened to their music and it affected us. We realised that we could get a lot looser than we were. They listened to our music and they realized they could get a lot more organized than they were, vocally. They knew they could do the same stuff we were doing - just not quite as well, but they could do it. They’re not as good of singers as we are. But they’re just as inventive as we are, and just as good of musicians. So we affected each other.”
@@altheatoldme Thanks for the info. It was something I once read, and it sounded good. But starting out as a jug band, I assumed they understood harmony. Everyone seemed to get into harmony around that time!
❤
What incredible music, growing up in the late 60s and 70s was a true gift.
This is Vicky’s wife. She died on 3/22/24 from ALS. She loved your music.
Rick Beato says modern music has no more space between notes and lyric lines... and this song proves it. Space to let the listener take it in, absorb it before delivering the next emotional hit... There will never again be a period like 1950 - 1990 for music. Thankful to have experienced it.
David Crosby looks like an old philosopher. :) I love to see his face as he looks at Bonnie Raitt singing. Just beautiful. Beautiful harmonies by Crosby & Graham Nash. Thank you, thank you. Rest in peace, David.
I miss you so much 😔
Never worry about the next generation...our kids{23 and 21} were raised on this music...and much more....recently saw our daughters' playlist on her ipod...it had some of EVERYTHING:) Blessed Be. Sing on:)
Hard to believe this was 12 years ago. I think we lived through a golden age,.
The creative genius on that stage is overwhelming my senses.....
Have seen Bonnie twice and were such great 👍 shows. Come back too MAUI BONNIE WOULD LOVE TOO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!!
The mix of Bonnie’s lead vocals and the harmonies of David Crosby and Graham Nash are so perfect that this song brings tears to my eyes. Thanks!
Oh my god ! Oh my god . 65 years old man sitting here in floods of tears . What a beautiful thing .
This is so beautiful. Bonnie nails it. And Crosby and Nash’s voices blend so beautifully with hers. This performance is such a gift.
We must carry on .the love 💘
This is the most movingly beautiful sound imaginable.
I love Bonnie and even better singing my favorite song "Love Has no Pride" with Crosby, Stills and Nash. Such a beautiful , heart break song. sigh
Look at Bonnie's eyes as she tells you her story..I believe that only someone as honest and damaged as the one who done her wrong..or the victim..can ever sing this masterpiece like Bonnie Raitt
Just ahead at 68. I thank Jesus for allowing me to live during the greatest decades of true, honest, talented music. The spectrum of talent from MJ to CSNY to LZ. My God...will never be repeated. So, thanks to UA-cam for proving our young access to talent.
This is about as special a moment as one can get. So beautiful..................
Sometimes I think the young’uns don’t get the sound poetry we lived with, way back in the day.
She isn't just a vocalist she plays serious slide guitar! That is how I knew her first! She is a great musician!
Gave me goosebumps when the 3 of them hit that first chorus. Not to mention tears all the way through.
I have all of Bonnie's albums. Started in 1971 and never looked back! yes I am old and so is Bonne as we are the same age! 72 and getting younger listing to this!
Listening to Bonnie's version again, I hear such a fine blues element which is so Bonnie Raitt!
My God. This version. GOAT.
Bonnie was and still is after all these years...incredible.
No end to how deep her singing reaches my soul. A gift.
If that doesn't bring tears to your eyes, you're not human. That was beautiful.
Am I the only one who thinks I m blessed to see this??
No, you are not alone !
Friendly from Marseille, FRANCE.
you gotta feel sorry for the people who disliked this. going through life with no soul must be tough
Now that is one of the best responses I'v ever heard..
Maria Muldair
AMEN!!!! BUT I KNOW SUCH PEOPLE THAT SEEM 2 HAVE NO SOUL!!!!!!
Oh snap...
I think they are just dyslexic...
RIP David Crosby, you have been the sound track to much of my life.
This song hooked me on Bonnie when it first came out but this version is sooo good. Just saw her for the 4th time and still want mor. Love you Bonnie, miss you David and Graham thanks for all your great music over the years.
So nice to see this again and see David again. We are lucky to have memories in videos of the great musicians that no longer walk the earth with us.
My God..... what an incredible performance, heart wrenching!
Isn't it amazing how the pain of love lost can inspire such beauty. Kudos to ~everyone~ involved, stage, sound, the band and of course Bonnie, David and Graham.
Bonnie Raitt , an American hero - patriot , for sure .... NOT kidding....!!
Bonnie Raitt is one of most underrated singers. I Love her voice and music.💌
U must be joking !!!!
The fact that Libby Titus wrote this about Levon Helm makes this Masterpiece even more Heartbreaking . When I think of her sitting down with pen and paper and not only writing these words , but actually living these words , as a Songwriter myself that just tears at my soul . It's amazing to me that knowing the truth behind a Song actually brings the Song to Life . I can actually feel the Heartbreak she must have been feeling when she wrote " I'll fall down on my knees " , while begging him to stay . There is something hauntingly sad in those words , especially when Bonnie sings them in that Beautiful Falsetto . It is Songs like this that ensure Empathy in the Human Condition continues in Future Generations . Thank You Libby Titus and Eric Kaz for letting us see the Humility that inherently comes with True Love . Love Truly has No Pride . God Bless ☮️

@@robertheywood9795 Since a V can have multiple meanings , I figured that I should get your intent before I tell you to fuck off ???
Libby's (2nd) eponymous album (the Carly Simon one) is one of my Desert Island Discs. Another song of her's about Levon just kills me. "I thought I was a big wheel, but all I got was three big meals...big deal"
@@eddiewillers1442 Yes , " Can This be My Love Affair " , another Heart Breaker 💔💔💔
@@Craig-bz3dm ...and has there ever been a better version of Cole Porter's, "Miss Otis Regrets"?
Ugh... tears of pain are falling... Bonnie Raitt always brings them out. "I Can't Make You Love Me" it's another song of beautiful sorrow.
beccawecca916
Ditto and Angel From Montgomery, Dimming Of The Day, wow, just couch out with some good whiskey and some kleenex, right? She embodies the blues.
I love that one too - I picture the entire scene and have felt the same thing once upon a time.
Love that song. Written by Mike Reid, formal Bengal. So cool!
if there is a great thing about getting older.. it is that when you sing these songs... they are real. they happened and the sense of loss is tangible... when the songs were written, as artful as they were, they were like a freshly bottled cabernet... they need time to age, and mature and in time.... the promise of the song is realized because the artist can bring to it the experience of the words.... great stuff... when lr and jds sang 'prisoner is disguise' in the 70's it was magic. If Linda were still singing, I'd imagine that it would have a whole new flavor now.... beyond magic...
If you do not cry when you hear this song then you are dead....I have played this too many times!
That just brought me to tears... She quite literally has the voice of an angel. I wonder if she actually realizes just how deeply she can affect another human being with her art. That performance just made my entire day. Everything could go straight to hell from this point on and it wouldn't even matter...not after listening to that.
I'm a sort of hard rock/metal head sort of fan. But I know when music is good and Bonnie Rait and Crosby Stills and Nash are just unreal. That was so beautiful. Even hard rockers get mature and we really understand the deeper meanings of life. God bless all these folks and their fans as well.
Don't forget Neil Young
Cheers Jonny. Very nice post. 👍😎🇳🇿🎸✨
Jonny, I am right there with you buddy, 65 years young and how can you not like the bluesy song from Miss Bonnie. She is Absolut Ly awesome.
Is there anything she can't sing? There's no other artist like her. God did bless us with Bonnie.
Perfect pitch with so much heart and soul. Now that's a performance! So so so good, it hurts, ouch.
Bonnie is like a fine wine. She only gets better with age.
She's in really fine voice this night, an artist at their peak, completely at one with the material.
THE WORLD IS " LUCKY " TO HAVE " ANGELS LIKE BONNIE RAITT" & MEGA STARS LIKE " CROSBY, STILLS & NASH"(SOMETIMES W/NEIL YOUNG) TO LIFT OUR SOULS TO HIGHER HEIGHTS IN TRYING TIMES. WHAT A MELDING OF VOICES.
Saw Bonnie live many times. Great performer. She could hold her own against anyone. Glad she earned a Grammy and her surprise was genuine. Don't think much of the Grammy Awards anymore, but this was richly deserved and long, long overdue. Still have all my vinyl.
Bonnie's voice has only grown richer as she's matured-her tone actually sounds purer. The 3 of them sing so incredibly beautifully together. I could feel my heart struck open by the sound of that 1st, "love has no pride"! If I'd been at the concert I probably would have died right there in my seat :-)! Si Antonio, ecco la magia.
And I along with you.
Agreed.
We are so grateful that they keep us going!
Justina LaRae some of the best. Those memories will live thru their tunes. Thankful
Well said! I find her simply overwhelming. I love her.
My God, I have listened to her since, well, dirt was new. I have loved her voice, and listened to that sweet, honey filled throat, till I was nothin but a sobbin pile of bell bottoms. It's hard to realize how far back i go, listening to her, CSN&Y. I think this is the only bluesy voice that can drop me to my knees, while I just cry. Damn. Oh, Bonnie, what joy you have brought.
100%. I am with you.
Today David Crosby is gone. Tears in my eyes. He is gone but his brilliance lives on . . . (And yes, Bonnie is exquisite here.)
For years I have been searching for a vocal performance better than this one...Im convinced it doesn’t exist
i can't believe she can do all that with her fingers and hands without even looking. and with a voice like that ... and lookin' like she does ... downright astonishing
What a performance. She sounds more passionate at that age than before. This captivates the ears of all lovers.
This is the most beautiful and heartfelt performance I can truly say I have ever heard of ANY song!!!! I listen to it just to get my mind right. Thank you Bonnie, David and Graham!!!!
I’m 68 years old and this song still makes me stop and feel…reached right into my heart and squeezes
She’s definitely been there . I remember the first time I saw her... she’ll always be one of the best female musicians / vocalist.
Beautiful harmonies with masters of the arts David Crosby (RIP) and Graham Nash. Wonderful singing by Bonnie. Tears
I used to be able to go see Bonnie Raitt just about any week in Austin Texas in the early 70's for a $2 cover charge. Life was good.....
Love has no Pride . So well written and so true and with all of the pain. “But I would give anything to see you again."
The sincerity of Bonnie
Still gives me chills when she sings and slides right to your heart
My favorite singer in the world too.. I have loved Bonnie for over 40 years and will love her for many many more..
Tina Marie F never mind them, they don't count. Though they did watch
Tina Marie F me 2
My sentiments exactly. She tears out my heart...
him
Good .
I heard something once. It is good to be this old to have been that young, then!!🙏❤️
Saw this live and had to watch it over and over in awe... Then had to buy the recording. The passion she brings to the lyrics, the feel in her playing, the backups of CSN, man. what pros they all are. My opinion, Bonnie's voice tops 'em all. Miley are you paying attention? This is what talent and class look and sound like.
Bonnie Raitt, any time, any where. A true, humble gifted artist for all time.
I'm right there w/ ya David. She is one of my favorite singers of all time, I had never heard her version, mostly Ronstadt's. Love this one.
During the Pandemic, it makes me realize how important music and live music is for our SOUL! Bonnie has soul. As do Crosby, Still and Nash. Please keep singing! Composing. Being Musicians! We need you more than ever before. Bonnie... I saw you in Missoula, Montana, in 1976 and have loved you since!
It shouldn't take a plannedemic , to make you realize how much Music feeds ones Soul !!!
My God, that was beautiful
One of the GOATs that I love listening to. Unique/pure everything that is right with music - the message/the lyrics/ great musicianship. GOAT!! Keep going Bonnie!
Celebrating my 70th birthday this year and reveling in all the fabulous music and songwriters from my generation. Thank you so much for you soul, heart and inspiration! I still love you Bonnie.....you sang and cried for me when I couldn't!!!
Same 🙏
She just comes out, no matter what else has happened, does one song and you go I want so much more of that.......come back, please for Gods sake come back.
if the words of this song do not make you weep.... then you are lucky to have not experienced a deep emotionally connected relationship, if you are sobbing as I then this song brings back feelings where comfort and true friendship were at one time...peace all there.
i cry every time i hear this version of this song - her voice, the lyrics, C&N's harmonies - it's all perfect
This was incredibly beautiful. Her voice is so real, the harmony was perfect.
this was one of the last songs my mom use to listen to before she died my brother brought squatters into her home and made her feel as if she could never go to her own house that she and my dad had fought for years so all of us had a place to live and he had to go and mess it all up with drugs Im a full grown man but this song makes me cry now these days its so beautiful such a wonderful colab i cant believe it.
Look at the delicacy of her hands. Did you ever notice that the finest guitarists all seem to have the same characteristic?
Mine are big and clunky, so I play the bass.
Bonnie's daddy can be proud of the way he taught her to sing.
What an amazing family.
This song, by Bonnie, hits me in the heart every time. I'm tearing up. I guess I have to say, it's my all time favorite love song.
That voice makes my eyes water everytime.... and I was born without tear ducts.
The greatest song ❤I ve ever heard about gone love! So true and honest ! And beautifulful!
Two guys standing humble behind a great woman !!! It breaks my heart everytime I hear it !! David and graham I love you for this!
And Bonnie anyway!!,💔❤️💔❤️
MISS BONNIE IS THE BEST BLUE'S PLAYER HANDS DOWN. WE LOVE MISS BONNIE.... HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY TODAY 😊
How can anyone not love Bonnie!
Almost as good as "Dua Lipa" (sarcasm intended)
No one said you can’t go to her concert or enjoy today. I pray to the ones that read. Live for today. Namaste love and light. Now it not Media time
She's also my favourite singer too ,,,her voice just wraps you up like a warm blanket
She could sing a menu and make it sound like the best Love song ever.
SHe doesn't sing a song- she FEELS is...which is why we feel every song she songs.....I can listen to her sing for hours.......she never sings a song exactly the same way twice. A true artist........
If you want to hear a little piece of God's voice, listen to this woman.
just beautiful...just so beautiful..
Getting old but still stellar. When all the boomers are gone, dang, will music ever be good again? Why is that generation so magical?
Because WE BOOMERS were conceived by The Greatest Generation?! SMILE
1948 here! Dad a young WWII Purple Heart vet Darby's Ranger sniper in Europe. He is still alive and kicking and still working at his business everyday.
We were "magical" because we CARED about things larger than ourselves....we were concerned for others...and we knew who we were. It was all in our music.
Cindy Marshall Excellent point. I owe everything I am to the grand-parents that raised me....and I'm darned glad off it. God only knows what I would have been without them. Miss them every single day....all day long.
because they believed.
