The musicians get old but the music never does. This is fine, fine wine.
Just gorgeous that warm soul in her voice, she sings from her heart and it will always be gorgeous
Damn, what a great saying
i seen her sing this live at alabamas charity concert in fort pabe bama
So true
Probably the best sad song ever written. Wonderful live performance.
This and “Rainy Days And Mondays”.
The pain is universal.
scott - Also love :In the Arms of the Angels" that was used by SPCA.
@@ericlind6581 and Superstar, by the Carpenters (but check out Bette Midler's version too...ua-cam.com/video/DWeRkxPfvg8/v-deo.html) - just brings back memories of that first, VERY broken heart!! 😢🥺😭 But Bonnie definitely takes the prize... SO much soul - NO one can rock the Blues like she does!! SO much nuance to her voice (and to her guitar playing - check out some of her other live videos*) - she is SUCH a treasure!! ...SO Real!!! [I strongly recommend Love Has No Pride!!]
Hands down.
I swear, Bruce Hornsby can make a piano....cry. He NEVER ceases to amaze me.
Roger that. His work with the Grateful Dead is under appreciated in my opinion.
@@BelovedChatter Yes, and all of his work. What a great person he is. Deserving of Rock HOF mention as well. We got Todd Rundgren in this year, anything is possible.
@@Arturo-sm1tb Todd Rundgren got in finally I didn`t know that about time.
So true. Some musicians can emote through their instruments, and Hornsby is definitely one of them.
I recently listened to an old Journey song, Send Her My Love, and Neil Schon does the same thing with an electric guitar (not an instrument you think of as emotional lol) in that song. The guitar solo sounds almost wistful.
Loving Will Lee on bass as well ❤
No one sings her song better than her. Not Adele, no one.
George Michael is a close second for me.
Teddy Swims has a REALLY GOOD version. But Bonnie ....
To be her song, she would have to have written it. She didn’t
@@ajfrompa1726Whitney Houston didn't write the songs she sang, but people considered those her songs. Bonnie sang this first, so ...
Except for George Michael.....
It is 3:20 in the morning, listening to this and Tears are Falling. If you have ever felt something for someone even once you would completely understand why. Nothing more needs to be said
No one can sing this like Bonnie Raitt. No one...
pat barrow I like the way she sing it but prince also did an good job singing it to
George Michael does a decent cover, but no, nobody sings it like Bonnie.
Truth.
How she doesn't cry each time she sings this is amazing. Such a powerful song.
I saw her sing this song in Boston a few years ago and she did have tears in her eyes
Every time I hear it I cry, so she doesn't have to.
Maybe because she’s a professional entertainer singing a song that was written by other people
@@fuckthevaccine2160 As you said she's a pro and as such she's totally living her song, no matter if she wrote it or not she puts her own emotions into it.
Moreover, who's ever loved has almost certainly already felt what she sings here.
Been there, done that. How she puts this into words, touches your soul.
Wonderful to see Bruce Hornsby on piano accompaniment.
Who can't relate to this song?
One of the best ever written.
I can .
Bonnie Raitt so richly deserving of this honour. She is eternal.
This rendition is so soulful. Everyone in the band is amazing. But of course Hornsby on the keys and Bonnie's soulful, bluesy voice, are sublime.
Bonnie and that piano guy!…Awe man!!! I’ve listened to a lot of renditions, but hers is the BEST! I first heard of this song through her…WOW!!!💕❤️💃
Bruce Hornsby was playing Piano. That was Paul Schafer playing keys. Small difference I know but those heavyweights have to be respected.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written...ever arranged...ever recorded, and in one take for the vocals no less.
As a man, this song always gave me permission to cry... also love Bruce Hornsby.
Heart wrenching. One of the best songs ever written.
Indeed ! 🙏❤️🩹
maybe one of the greatest Katherine - totally agree and maybe this is the best version I have heard
Bruce Hornsby & Paul Schafer on the keys...respect
Totally agree about Hornsby but what is Shafer even playing? He always tries to showboat and make it about him. He's nothing more than a sound effects man half the time.
Bonnies rendition- true soul. And Bruce- plays that piano with soul.
2024, still amazing. 👍👏
She is singing in a Willie Nelson laid back jazz style that shows versatility in her vocals. Kudos to the musicians not being thrown by her restyling in this performance.
21 years later still makes me cry
Just a note, this song written by Mike Reid, a former offensive lineman for the Cincinnati Bengals, and Allen Shamblin. A friend of mine played with the Bengals with Mike and recalled him coming into the locker room after a game complaining that he had broken a finger and wouldn’t be able to play piano until it healed.
WHAT A VOICE!
the phrasing in this version is UNREAL!
Hornsby can dance around any melody. Dude’s a genius.
She makes me cry for the loves I've lost and all the loves each of us has lost. Thanks Bonnie for healing the ache.
This song always reminds me of the love i lost, and it was exactly as Bonnie says it, "cause i can't make him love me if he won't....he can't make his heart feel something it won't..." this song goes out to all those who have been fortunate enough to experience one sided unrequited love...nonethless, i'll always love him, and remember him, even though it's just a blurred vision of his image... Blessings and love to all...xoxo
You nailed it. " blurred vision", except for his smile.
@@bethseptember8 thank you dear...Much love to you xoxo
❤
She absolutely still has a beautiful voice.
THIS is music. Pure, simple, and hauntingly beautiful.
"And I will give up this fight" at 2:58 ....god that is powerful, wow ... such a devastatingly sad song my god
I know I can’t make him love me, but I love him too much to give up this fight
You always know its her and thats what makes a great voice.
Reality of love not reciprocated is a freedom within itself.
Bonnie's heartache in this dirge of a song, haunting , from a past love, who , in reality, did not truly love her enough to commit to her, I hope you found a new love Ms. Bonnie.
This is my personal anthem. Thank God for Bonnie Raitt.
Same for ALOT of us I think!!
Bonnie Raitt has never disappointed singing this live that I've ever seen
One of the best songs ever
geez. unreal. so gooooodddd.
How can you not feel gutted every time you listen to this song
I absolutely love Bonnie and she just gets better like a fine wine..I've listened to her since her first album..truly an amazing woman with a beautiful voice...✌💜🌻
One of best in the old song era, very gold. My favorite song.
So beautiful. ‘Nuff said…
Says every old fogie in their generation since the beginning of music. Just because you can't find stuff doesn't mean you should crap on generations of music you may be too old in the heart to hear.
I seek out this song - and this performance - when I’m living moments where I feel this but can’t say it out loud.
💛
I love this song. Bonnie Raiit is the only one who can sing this song. AMAZING 😊
Prefer her voice here than to when it was recorded. Something special in that little rasp
I still shiver hearing her sing ….
Got introduced to this song by Justin Vernon and always went back to his version..then I heard Maggie Roger’s cover it..and wondered what the original sounded like and ended up here..Oml..I have no words!
She tugged on my heartstrings ,on hearing this for the Fist time❤ God Keep You HERE ,A LONGTIME Bonnie ❤ John
This is absolute music perfection.. Nothing can improve this performance. A truly magical moment
Give me anything that comes out of Bonnie ‘s mouth and lung’s !!!! So love this LADY !!!!!!!!
One of the most heartfelt songs of our time - haven't heard anything that can top it.
Fred collier not for nothing I also love the way prince sing it to
joni Mitchell both sides (later version)
You try your hardest. . And it still does not happen.. addiction can push you to continue.. love is deep .. it can be one-sided.. and that's the suffering beyond words.. ❤️
It's my favorite song in the world.. it moves my spirit and soul. TY BR❤❤❤
One of the best voices of all time 🙌
The Best is Karen Carpenter
Happy 72nd Birthday today Bonnie💖💖💖💖
This is powerful song is not just a romantic heartbreak song. It's so deep about unrequited love that it also speaks to a human whose heart is broken by the rejection of his love for another human, a brokenness that turns into centuries of violence and war.
I dedicate this song to the dead and victims of the Israel-Hamas war.
Bonnie & Bruce 2 of the best
What a lady, nothing but class.
This is the most beautiful and the saddest song in this entire world. I cry each time I listen to it.
Showmanship that will never be replicated.
watch what's in her eyes, Authentic
There are songs that are just perfect, and this is one of them. You can remake them, reimagine them, but you can’t make it better.
No one does it like Bonnie and no one plays like Bruce 🌺💜😊🌟
This is one of the finest songs ever written, thank you Bonnie Raitt. Great vocal.
Bruce Hornsby played beautifully and was fully featured (btw. he started as Linda Ronstadts pianist) but yet again Bonnie missed the chance to demo her lead guitarist /slide guitar mastery on an important occasion of record. Like many great women she is naive about self promotion/ getting full recognition for real talent. This was definitely the place for that.
I think your right to say this was the best she's beautiful and she can sing😊
One of my all time favorite songs...and some great and sad memories that play along with it in my mind.
Her voice just melts my heart. What a talent.
Wow I really like how she sang it. So soulful, raspy and delicate at the same time. Very very beautiful ❤️
there are no words for the heart in this song and Bonnie lets her heart and all its hurt hang out
Sad song , sung from the heart Bonnie
This song makes me want to give someone a hug.
Yes, song makes me cry n say im sorry... My love to her. She has a place in my heart
SHALOM ISRAEL 🤝🏼🤔😎😍😉🤝🏼
Beautiful song. She put her soul, grit, pain and love into it. It is definitely one of the best songs ever made.
Daaaaaang!!!! That high note was wow!!!!! Such an amazing and beautiful voice
I just discovered this song and Bonnie Raitt, unknown in France, I can't understand how it is possible. Both are truly beautiful
This is beautiful. I have always loved her music and she sounds amazing in this video. She should have been inducted a long time ago but glad she has been recognized for her talent.
I read that when she recorded this song, she basically did it in one take. I also read that the writers of the song had written a different part for the piano but Bruce Hornsby improvised on it and just took it to another level. What incredibly talented artists ❤.
True
I heard today that the writer of the song was formerly an American footballer [one of the big ones built like trucks].
@@melatomic Correct. Mike Reid wrote this along with Alan Shamblin while they wrote songs in Nashvile. Before that, Reid attended college in Pennsylvania where he studied music and played football for th Cincinnati Bengals. It was on his first album "Walk On Faith" in '91/92.
@@DukeSteele thanks for this . I’ll check it out.
What a gift to listen to this beautiful melody. Times like this I truly appreciate that the universe is great and I am very very grateful ❤
Thanks Bonnie Raitt for making my heart ❤ sing. This is one of my favorite songs 🎵 of all time. It's so relevant more than ever especially in 2024. There's so many hearts ❤ that are unfulfilled. 😢😢 People are still looking for love 💘.
I so miss real music, thank u
Still just as soulful and meaningful as the first time she performed it. Still requires the same amount of Kleenex still.❤❤
Man, she was feeling it!
66 this year ,I remember when that song came out ,fell in love again , she can still give it her all like she always did never afraid to turn it up
Bonnie is a gorgeous woman with tons of talent
"Perfect! Perfect! No one knows the final word...."
Wow Hornsby is off his ass in this performance. Very very talented.
Its how the music starts with the synth but then the piano hits and bang you’re on a different place. Then Bonnie sings and everything is amazing
A better cover is done by Tank. Like her, he didn't write it either.
Have never seen a singer so into her lyrics, such as during this performance by Bonnie. Unbelievable how connected she is. How different than the 100 various pop singers of today who are singing for a paycheck.
That voice never gets old
Most beautiful love song ever. Period.
Excellent work of the musicians of course with the powerful voice of Bonnie Raitt. The piano of Bruce Hornsby sounds incredible in this masterpiece.
I relate to this song.
There's a girl I'm in love with. I knew she didn't feel the same way.
I figured she deserved to know. I told her. We had a good conversation about it.
I just pretended to be cool about it, while in fact I was, and still am, shattered.
That was a month ago. Since then everything went downhill.
It's just difficult to put your feelings away and stil try to be there for her when she needs me.
The night I broke I listened to this song and I just felt like my feelings deserved to be there as this isn't my fault.
It has been over 30 years and it never completely goes away. I eventually realized or told myself I loved my idealized fantasy of who she was and not her. That helps, sometimes.

Thank you!
Much love to you 😊
She still sounds good. Quite a feat after all of these years. Hats off to you, Ms. Raitt.
What a beautiful voice.
My eyes get moist and it warms my heart each and every time I listen to this song.
Wow, what a soulful, sad and emotional rendition of a beautiful, melancholy song. Bonnie was so deserving of her induction. Bruce and the band were perfect.
Bonnie has got it going on. Love her. Very cool
Love her voice, it sounds better than ever. Ando the song it's wonderful.....
One of her best. Powerful vocals.
This song is still Breathtaking and Amazing and True
Sublime performance...
What a beautiful performance of a perfect song.
That voice gives me chills!!!
