As i said before, my Dad would have been singing all day, nearly in tears watching you iron the joints and fell to bits when you got the soft brush out...nice to watch. RIP Dad
The Essex Hunter . Thanks very much pal , glad we bring back some good memories 🧱👍🏽
Been getting spammed by these comments all night , had about 50 of them 🤬🤬🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild just keep reporting them and YT will pick the report up....I will report them as well....As Dad would say...
More Muck.

Rob Cheers Rob yeah not long now . We are planning a giveaway. 🥳🧱👍🏽

Well Steve & Al by the time you arrive on the new site they probably just starting with the foundation there 😉 ..
Jay Puyenbroeck 😬😂🧱👍🏽
Really impressive! I am a builder from CA. We cant build like you due to CA codes. I love what you and your son do.
G Schilly Thanks very much 🧱👍🏽
Amazing to watch, and great video work. I've also learned two reasons bricks with holes (rather than old fashioned frogs) make things easier. Anyhow I'm thinking Alex can tick off foundations now. Best of luck with the new job on the supers. I'm sure you won't miss the travel.
John Coppock Thanks John . No I won’t miss the travelling, Al used to sleep all the way home 🥱😴😂 🧱🧱
@@SteveAndAlexBuild The joys of youth! Make the most of it, and keep hold of it. Hope you can enjoy some R&R in the garden, instead of behind the wheel.
John Coppock Yep ! 💪🏼🧱👍🏽
Hi guys love your content great attention to deatil. Question i have a bit of surface water sitting on my footings and 1/4 up the first block but thats all the way around the build would you say this will cause issues in years to come and should i be considering some sort of drainage to take it away. I still have black jack dpm paint to be put on just waiting for a few dry days to drain water and be dry enough to apply it.
Every foundation has water on it . The water finds its way naturally to the bottom of the trench and stops at the concrete . Nothing to worry about 🧱👍🏼
Nice...👍
Thanks pal 🧱👍🏽
They are very good foundational videos
Harvey HENDERSON Thanks very much Henry 🧱👍🏽
Wow they have now done away with the block infill to the beams 😬Although an advance in warmth it’s doing the block lads out of work but of course technology evolves 😬The gas membrane gets me ,you have an established housing estate without membrane and you build a pair of semis and it’s a requirement 🤷♂️. Anyhow good luck with your new project and nice not to be slogging about in mud this coming winter 👍Bet your ground-worker company are a bit cheesed ? But as Arnie said ....I’ll be back 💪💪
😂😂 Cheers Ronnie 💪🏽🧱👍🏼
Wellies on in that heat
Steven Glendinning . 🥵 Al was waiting for the new boots to be delivered 🧱👍🏽
No wonder my house is cold in winter here in Sydney. I have 19mm wooden floorboards between inside and underhouse and not even carpet in most rooms.
Michael Magill 😳. Jeez we would freeze to death over here in winter 😂🧱👍🏽
Hi ya Steve do you ever use the pick and dip method on site work 👍
We have both been giving it a try lately, hate it but you can’t argue with the speed 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
9:50 Last time I saw legs like that they were hanging out of a nest. 😊
😁make the most of it , on our new site shorts are banned 🥵🥺🧱👍🏼
Great vid Steve and Alex, are you guys working on any sites near me in Preston mate?
jonathan Clayton Thanks Jack This was in guide near Blackburn 🧱👍🏼
Nearly at 10k every credit boys
Callum Postlethwaite not far now cheers Callum , keep your your eye out for our tool giveaway 💪🏼🧱👍🏽
Is there a different set of brickie skills between laying the foundations and the superstucture?
Wayne L. No , no difference just different conditions 🧱👍🏽
Wayne when I worked on the sites, you got lads that would work below D.P.C level, and were ok, but above D.P.C they were crap.
Les Gill oh no 😬🧱👍🏽😂
@@lesgill8490 I guess you can hide a lot of sins underground. :)
@@wayneleone Unfortunately mate there are plenty around with that attitude. "Who cares, it's buried". I've seen some unbelievable stuff in foundations.
Just changed my amazon bookmark on my pc to your page to help support the channel as even if i buy something else after using your link you get a cut.
PDSVIDEO1966 Thanks very much ! Much appreciated 🧱👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Top stuff again, lads. Just wondering, are you planning to pull in a labourer for the supers? They can be a bit of a task with just the two of you compared to foundations.
Cheers Jim we will see how it goes 🧱👍🏽
How far away is your next site from your house
Dezzie same street pal 🥳🥳🧱👍🏽
When we do footings we have to joint everything how bad is that
Retro Please . That is ridiculous, it’s not Miller homes is it ?🙄👍🏼🧱
Bricklaying With Steve and Alex yessss and a Seddons
Retro Please 🙄 what a joke 🧱👍🏽
So is that your LAST foundation steve and are you moving onto supers on the same site ?
Spartrowel no more footings , completely different firm 0 miles a week travelling instead of 260 🥳🥳🧱👍🏽
No more footings 🙁
What’s fuelled the change ?
Liam G . 10 years has knackered my hips . Can’t do it any more 🤕🧱👍🏽
great vid as always. Quick question about the bond between the trench and concrete blocks @ ua-cam.com/video/-na5FEvd5hs/v-deo.html. Looks like the bond is about 60-75mm. Are there any regulations regarding minimum bond overlay between courses of blocks ?. cheers
reedy . I think it’s quarter bond minimum so it was close . Bonding from trench to 4 “ is difficult because of the sizes plus pipes throw things out too . NHBC inspect on a regular basis and we have never been pulled for it 🧱👍🏽
Martin Cheers Martin you always write it down so brilliantly and explain it in a way we can all understand and most of all common sense shines through . Cheers Martin 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
@@SteveAndAlexBuild - thanks for that - it gives me confidence for my own build. keep up the great content
reedy 🧱👍🏽
A good carrier would earn his money and more. Will you be getting one? Cheers for all the ground stuff.
Oncewasdonka . Not planning on just yet . 🧱👍🏽
Is this built in a piled foundation?
shanur rahman Yes , pile and pre cast beams 🧱👍🏼
Footings /foundations the worst thing for a brickies health. Do them while you are young and avoid like the plague when older. Trenchs to deep, to narrow and concrete out of level. All things that make it harder. In my day you did not get extra for jointing both sides of work in footings!! Good to see the money is getting better for bricklayers.
Yep 10 years in the trenches was too long 😫🧱👍🏽
Why you final may I ask?
Jay Mundy . We have jacked them in to go to another site building the supers 👌🏼🧱😂
Had enough of slipping and sliding then?
Jay Mundy Absolutely !!!!! 🧱👍🏽
Haha. I’m off site for the first time of my bricklaying career! Going to start with a little suby doing his bricklaying and other bits will be exciting mate! Alex’s has come on heap and bounds, he’s putting them down now mate
Jay Mundy He is 💪🏼. Good luck to you too pal 🧱👍🏽
Do yous tend to do much site work
Ben McDonnell Monday to Friday Ben 🧱👍🏽
Bricklaying With Steve and Alex ah good I’m starting an apprenticeship in September on site can’t wait. What’s it like on site ?
Ben McDonnell good days and bad days but can be a fantastic place to work 💪🏼🧱👍🏽
how much you on a day
Sophie Gear It depends how much we do , it’s price work 🧱👍🏽
Bricklaying With Steve and Alex How much would a new bricklayers labourer expect to earn first starting out on site?
Thanks
Sophie Gear sorry but I’m not sure as I haven’t had a labourer for over 20 years . Different people pay different rates 🧱👍🏽
U need some new gloves pal , there alomst fingerless gloves 😂😂apart from that enjoy u videos im a brickie myself and always watching ur vids
Marc Knott 😂😂 . Like to get my monies worth 👌🏼🧱👍🏽
Hahahhahaha u wouldnt get away with them in winter pal , but ye keep the vids goin lots of respect from brickie to brickie 🧱
Marc Knott 😂😂 Nice one cheers Marc 🧱👍🏽
I can perfectly well understand why you wanted out of this repetitive work on what looks like fairly cheap housing projects on dodgy ground....judging by the fact they needed to consolidate between buildings with a sheep’s foot roller...!!...look on the bright side though, at least you weren’t loosing your wellies in a sea of mud that day...lol...good luck for the future, looking forward to seeing the new videos...👍🏻
Stuart Nagle Thanks pal . The ground was stabilised with lime and was over 4 foot of backfilling around the beams . It was a relief to work on solid ground though. 🧱👍🏽💪🏼
You don't look or sound as happy working for someone else on a big site....................
We hated it 😤🧱👍🏽
