Good video - thanks. Eevee NEXT is looking like it's negating the need to learn Unreal for rendering. I guess Nanite is still useful for some use cases.
Thanks for the info. IMO, eevee's volumetric effects are rendered way faster than cycles. And most of the time they look good enough or I could say they don't have obvious artifacts. So giving Cycles the volume rendering from eevee would be great. But reflections, global illumination in eevee can't still compete with cycles and if you have a decent GPU, you can render those pretty fast. That is why I prefer adding something from eevee to cycles instead of giving eevee more tracing stuffs. Eevee is faster to render that doesn't come without any cost. You spend time tweaking many controls and sliders to make your lighting look right, but in cycles, they just work and you can spend time making lighting better and more interesting.

They've had that for years now, already. Years and years. For size, you go to the overlays dropdown in edit mode, split into a separate dedicated dropdown to the right since 4.0, and tick on edge length and face area for the size of "lines and planes" for everything you have selected. Make sure the object's scale is applied first, though. For coordinates, you open up the N-panel on the right hand side (by hitting N on the keyboard), click on the Item vertical tab, and then select any vertex, edge, or face. It's coordinates will show under Transform. You can set this to be either global or local space.

my main fear switching is that i'm on a midrange laptop with no gpu, i've noticed that as blender progresses its getting harder for midrange laptops to do so many new cool stuff they've been adding cause its a bit intensive to the system. i can barely run cycles, i know eevee next will be lighter than cycles but i dnt know if it'll make enough difference for me to freely move around in it n my laptop
Yea they make as well things just stupid, like why the hell they took out addons from simple to more complicated for no reason? It was easy go to addons tab choose loop tools and check, u done, now... NO u need to go to other tab download it, than go to addons and install it... WTF!?
Mainly for updates I think
Maybe because they want to separate it.

Your Avatar nick name must be " Sugar Foot " because I see you still have your Toe in the Tea ! Eevee-next is exciting in many ways like polygon amounts unheard of and of course the main thing Global-Illuminati or eh Illumination ! Anything in the art world that is not AI will become highly sot after in the future . :O)
So sugar foot apparently means a new comer? I guess I'm a new comer to blender 4.2
Hi Brad.
I really wanted to watch your video, but the background was so distracting that I only watched a minute. It was not just the motion, but the background didn't appear to support or relate to your message. So, for me, it felt like a mash-up of two videos.
This comment is not meant as an insult. I know how difficult it is to make a video. I hope you take my comments as constructive criticism. I wish you the best.
Regards,
Bob
I think you may have commented on the wrong video. My name is Grant and I use green screen for only 30 seconds or so
Eevee next really is a baby... If it can't see something then it doesn't exist
need you face bigger pls
Nice feature ??? Really???? blender is not industry standard , lot of bug, no support , and with new version they change stuff doesn't need any change, and that stupid key shortcut are a real nightmare for even experienced people , i been used blender for year and i really tired of this clumsy "nice features" seriously fuck blender
Staying on 3.6 LTS since 4.2 is 33% slower with heavy scenes and i am not the only one mentioning this.
Probably because of the new auto smooth modifier.
@@canyongoat2096 I don't know what exactly is causing this but maybe you are right.
My characters dont have some textures when loaded (udims) and cant fix it by "find missing files" in external data.
When i also change to material preview, Blender 4.2 crashes each time (program just exits and doesnt tell me what went wrong). But same scene works flawlessly on 4.1 or older versions.
For me 4.2 Blender LTS is completely unstable, i dont know what the cause is, any advice would be welcome.
I'm starting to notice a few cracks around the edges myself
