Congratulations on your new ePDL 132, Mark, I'm sure this kayak will give you years of dependable service. Many new fishing treks to come! Take care and be safe!
Mark - Congrats on the ePDL 132. Looks nice. I have a Old Town Big Water 132 PDL. It was purchased in like new condition but used. I did put a Bixpie motor on it and I cruise 4 tp 5 and can fish all day. Setup time is minimal and my yak is near fully rigged. No issue. Its an awesome plateform and I have been out in some unforegiving conditions. I am a retired USCG captain, owner operator and ran charters for over 20 years. While I like the Hobie name, I choose to spend my hard earned dollar a bit more discerning. With my background, I expect the best in quality, so I chose Old Town. Tight Lines and keep them coming!
Thanks for the video and nice yak. I’m still a fan of my 120 PDL for the stability. That one looks more narrow and I’d personally sacrifice speed for that. Keep the videos coming Mark and stay safe.
Man I'm so glad you got one of these, it has really caught my eye but a lot of money for something im not sure of, so being able to watch you on it in the same warers i fish is awesome
Mark the one thing anyone will learn about your show is your honesty, and also you really do put your gear thru its paces. Most normal fisherman dont do near as much as you do with there gear, with that said. if you say its good its good. Looking forward to watching how this new yak serves your fishing style.
lack of speed is the only issue i have with the ap, but i fixed that by adding a Newport NK300... hope you enjoy your new ePDL, i really hope they put it on another boat.
Molds will have to be made for the changes to existing platforms. It’s gonna take some time but I’m sure we’ll see them trickling out for the best sellers.
I like the concept but it does cost $6000. I have an Outback ($3500) that I added a Bixpy ($1500) that is comparable. If I want a very light really skinny water kayak I have a Tarpon 120 ($1000) and use the same Bixpy. Yes it has a “ clothesline” for steering the drive but not really a problem. All for the same price.
Nice new setup - appreciate the releases, it’s the love for the sport - based on your experience the drive should just be 0 and 5 since 1-4 didn’t do much for you - tight lines- PuraSal Angler 🙌🏻
The cockpit seems a little cramped compared to AP120. Especially with the pedal drive up and a slot red in there with you 👍. Hand control for rudder is kinda of con versus foot pedal controlled rudder.
Way too windy for me. Nice fish too. I have a Hobie PA12 and a Bixpy motor that I am selling. I know I will miss it. Happy fishing! The new year is getting started.
Yes I will sell it separately It is the J2 and haas only been used once to try out and never got around to using it again. It has the mod shroud on it for the Hobie. Very nice and not a scratch on it. $950 @@TheFishAndTrips
The whole situation has to be taken into context. The kayak was being pushed by 22+ mph winds and backed up by some serious water chop. When I drove my stakeout pole through the scupper hole. That’s like hitting a brick wall… instant stop. My momentum, the wind and the water chop would’ve jolted any small water in the same situation.
Okay, I registered that condition for future awareness. My thing now is that you and another prominent UA-camr have showcased your newly acquired ePDL’s and gone back to the AutoPilot 120 on subsequent videos. I’m getting a signal here that points to where I should spend my money.
Haven’t watched you in awhile. Seems like a great kayak. Especially with the pedal assist. I’m sure it has its cons. Which one doesn’t. I’m in the market for a new kayak maybe in June. Can’t decide which one lol. Course living in Wisconsin now. Will be a lot of lake fishing. Do miss the Marsh and Reds.
Have you been through the registration process with the State yet? I'm interested to see how that goes since it is an electronic assist motor. Especially now that TPWD is requiring you list the motor HP...
Hey Marc, you may want to verify that with the local TPWD office. That motor can operate a without pedal assist, thus making it the same as an electric trolling motor. I'm fairly confident, TPWD will require titling and registration of that vessel.
Kayak looks great. Its great to see some innovation in kayaking. I dont see this as a game changer or a big step forward, but its a step. For the cost, Im looking at a Mihla, Jon boat, or something else, but Im sure itll be right for others.
@@ETuss713 if I remember correctly from my previous experience. It’s draft is a couple inches more than the AP120. I feel comfortable saying that it needs 4 to 6 inches.
Awesome video! the problem is you dont have spot lock with that assist its also 6k I got lucky and picked up the old town 132pdl for 1750 on a super sale I might throw a motor on it later down the line.
I put a Bixpie on my 132 and it is the bomb digity. I still like to pedal but this extends my range and day. Bixpie has 20% off on Black Friday, and I got an additional 10% proffesional discount off. Happy as a puppr with two peters. Tightlines!!!
Nice boat. Would have bought it if available 2 years ago. SInce have same Hobie Outback as DARNELL with Texas Power Paddle rudder motor ,on a trailer and 67 years old probably not gonna get another😂. Like you said total price about same.
Ordered mine on Christmas and the wait is killing me. My only real concern is the loss of the rails in the back which is how I’ve mounted my rod rack. I hate carrying extra weight and I don’t want a crate for my fishing style. Either way, I’m going crazy waiting on this thing to come in, especially since the Hobie is already sold.
One of the things I don’t like about this platform is the deck space and I don’t think the stability is as good as the 120 auto pilot, yes it’s slower but you can’t beat spot lock either. I’m a big old town fan so I’m not saying it’s not good, but I love my autopilot. Nice fish on a tuff weather day.
I haven’t watched a video yet, but I wanted to make a comment before I watched it. I think you’re probably gonna like your auto pilot better than the new EPDL. Just because how shallow you normally go. That’s just what I think I want to know if I’m right, so I’ll watch the video now.
The AP is well suited for the shallows but I’ll show that the ePDL can also make it happen. What I’m really looking forward to is trolling magnum divers next to the jetties. Also making it out to some of the longer spots from the launch. There’s a lot of places that the AP just can’t make it to.
They’re tools for different jobs. I look forward making it to this marsh in record time. Also looking forward to fishing the open waters around our jetties.
Legend has it, by the time I made it back to the boat ramp, Mark was already back at home enjoying a Corona with lime.😂
😂😂😂💀
Trip'n ain't easy...
😂😂😂
There you go feeding off a Marine. MDLR stop giving hand outs to this non fishermen 🤣🤣🤣
@@dd214fishing for the record, I already had a red in my boat before this Marine here.
Side note: although I did start fishing 2 hours before him. 😂
Watching the whole thing! Love how you don’t skip the “process”, very much an important part of the kayaking journey.
🤙 thanks for stopping by bro.
Congratulations on your new ePDL 132, Mark, I'm sure this kayak will give you years of dependable service. Many new fishing treks to come! Take care and be safe!
I hope so too! Just washed the motor off after the first run. 🤓
And of course, the Outback keeps up effortlessly.
For about a minute maybe 🤔

Thank you for your service! I’d love to put a Torqeedo on my Autopilot for the speed.
Like your heart to heart conversation with the redfish, lol.

What speed are you doing with the nk300 on the AP?
@95690torres 6.1 mph 2 plus hours km my 60AH 36v amped. Go to 40% power can go about 4 mph for hours and hours
Love mine for trolling in the Sierra's. All day at level 2 doesn't put a dent in the battery.
Yeah I’m experiencing the same, battery lasts forever 🤙
Thanks Mark
Very welcome
Great video Marc, very informative!

😂 a little friendly banter.
This is next level for sure , I think it’s game changer give you more reach..= more time for fishing…
My thoughts exactly.
Awesome video!!!! Can I have your auto pilot 😅 it will come in handy when I’m doing volunteering for the Hero’s on the Water events

The rudder has always been a con.
Nice seeing fish&trips,with u bro,nice reds!
Thanks 👍
ENE wind where you’re at is gnarly i wont even go out in it. Took a few over the bow one day and never again. Ill launch somewhere else
It was horrible that day!
Great video once again Mark!
Thanks for watching!
And that’s the cleanest that kayak will ever be

Something you said on 2nd fish gives cause for concern “gosh we almost flipped”. Comparison on beams for hi end yaks?

That wind picks up quick some days eh. Nice reds.
Yes they do and it’s brutal 😅

Welcome back 🙌 to the channel.
So, I’m assuming you still have to register this kayak because of the e-drive?
Definitely would like more info on the Kayak, looking into getting one if it is what I’m looking for
Hopefully a lot of the questions will be answered in future videos. Thanks for watching 🤙
Have you been through the registration process with the State yet? I'm interested to see how that goes since it is an electronic assist motor. Especially now that TPWD is requiring you list the motor HP...
No, it’s a pedal drive. Would be like having to register an eBike as a motorcycle.
Hey Marc, you may want to verify that with the local TPWD office. That motor can operate a without pedal assist, thus making it the same as an electric trolling motor. I'm fairly confident, TPWD will require titling and registration of that vessel.

Im thinking of going with a front trolling motor for the spot lock. Not sure if its worth it tho
@@ReelTimeCapthow did you mount the bixpy?

Right on!
How you like that Texas Power Paddle? I'm thinking between this and Bixpy.🤔

Congrats 🍾
You could’ve used some horizontal rod storage. I much prefer it over vertical.
The salt would kill my gear storing it horizontally. But I get it, we all have different needs.
New year new kayak to nice !!
🙌
Mark what app are you using to get weather info, wind speed direction, tides
NOAA mobile website. It’s not an App. 👍
😂 I comment on previous video that Old town should hook you up with epdl!!😂
🤙

The Autopilot is legit. I hope to show why I think this kayak is going to be an amazing tool as well.
I wish I could win an old town kayak like this beautiful kayak
I have the bigwater pdl looking to buy a yeti hopper for the kayak. What size yeti are you using?
18
No spot lock 😮
No but I gain distance because of speed. Give and take kinda thing.
Feelfree has a pedal drive kayak that you can add a motor to assist you while pedaling.
Nice very nice.
Is there a spot lot on that motor?
No
What App do you use to monitor conditions?
NOAA website
With all the new Technology, what if pedal drive fails, motor fail and you have no paddle?
Big what if I guess.

Yes in cruise mode.

yes
There no room for your fish, there’s inches between your knees and the plastic
