I caught a nice sized red with a cane pole and a shrimp bait. I let the bait float by some marsh reeds a couple of times and the red hit it hard. I didn't keep it because I was the only one that caught anything and one fish wasn't enough for everyone. The guys were fishing with expensive rod and reels with artificial lures. I also caught a huge 5 pound toadfish. The guys decided to go gigging that night and were able to get a couple big reds bigger than a doormat. And they also gigged a big flounder that wouldn't fit in their bushel basket. We cooked them one a charcoal grill of hickory wood and basted them with butter, lemon juice and garlic. Those reds were so tasty cooked like that. Those big reds they gigged they got in a salt marsh.
Do you also use a pedal drive kayak or strictly trolling? I'm interested in saving up for one (pedal drive) but am now wondering if a trolling motor would be more my speed (40+ years of age, toddler life and a lackluster workout regimen). How much fishing time could I expect from the battery before I'd need to head back to shore?
I don’t have a pedal kayak. Batteries can last forever depending on what you buy. They can also deplete in a few hours depending on how long you run the motor on it’s highest speed setting. I can easily fish for six hours and run a distance of 12 miles without having to worry about losing power.
Wow!!! What a great video. That's one of the reasons why I really want to buy a kayak. That's to you, your son & fishing trips. Lol the awesome 3 musketeers. 😂😂😂 but thank you for the good vibes that you send out to each person that tunes to your channel.
I loaded all my Lew’s Pro SP reels with 20#. I can still cast a fair distance with 1/8 oz Buggs. All of my Lew’s Custom Lites are loaded with 10# braid. I’ll eventually go back to them. Just wanted to switch things up a bit.
Aww, wish you had kept your slot reds that you caught. I wanted to see how you prep (brain the fish - don't know the proper name for it) and how you cook redfish at home. Enjoy your vids. It makes me wish I could go fishing, clean and cook. Looking forward to more good stuff from you like always!! Stay well my friend! From Houston, TX
I truly enjoyed every moment of this video Mark! Those were some very nice slot reds and the last one was a real brute. Better weather will soon be forthcoming, I can't wait to see what the spring bite brings! Mark, take care and be safe! 🙏
My brother, Do you ever go surf fishing? You should 😎
Sometimes
Bro that first Red had to been juicing. Officials gonna call him in for a "random" drug test tomorrow. 😂
😂 he came up like Tyrone, “y’all got anymore of that shrimp.”
@@MDLRFishing 😂😂😂
Good day on the water🎣
Sure is, especially when we get lucky enough to catch fish.
OUTSTANDING TRIP! seems a dark paddle tail with chartreuse tail never fails....
Always 🙌
greetings my friend from Houston what a good video
Thank you brother!
What do you wear when n the summer to prevent sun burn? New to TX and kayak fishing…and tired of frying my legs….
Long sleeve hoody’s, sun gaiter, gloves and pants with SPF tech built in them. They’re listed in my video description. 👍
Them voodoo shrimp work pretty and effectively with good game fish!
👍

Have you ever tried (live target shrimp)?
I haven’t
You should try it!!!!
Also my son just joined the marines. He is in SD Cali for training! He graduates in June. I’m planning a fishing trip when he comes back.
Sounds Like you need a better drag...lol...great vid!
Thanks 🤙
Great content!! Keep up the with the great videos 🎉
Thank you! Will do!
Why don’t u use straight fluorocarbon , why braid and floro?
Braid is lighter to cast 1/8 oz lures. Long casts are needed when sight casting finicky fish.
MUD DONKEY???? 🤣🤣
😂🤙

Solid action! 💪 I’ll have to give the savage shrimp another try. I haven’t caught anything on it yet.
Thanks man! They crush it when the shrimp are around.
What knot do you use ? Braid to leader
Uni to Uni
dude get over here!
🤙
When did you switch to 20# braid? And why? Just curious because you and #RXAngler are the reason I just purchased an ultralight setup.

I’ll do some cook videos soon. Right now I’m just trying to get back to a normal schedule. This weather has made things very difficult lately.
