This is a demonstration of laziness.

I like the dash but not hiw it's laid out. They should have inlayed it down into a bezel. It looks to much like a huge screen just bolted to the pad. Especially with the fox body gauges. Been nice to have the instrument cluster and infotainment screens separated.
I gotta say.... I think the last Bullitt had the best blend of old school cool and modern power. It was a simple and elegant design. This thing has strapped on a bunch of video-game bling, and seems to take the driver away from being able to merge with the vehicle - even if you are "rowing your own gears." I miss the dual cowl, and that massive video screen is a huge accident-waiting-to-happen. Even the jet fighter toggles on the previous version keep things easy and straightforward. The only tedeeming qualities are the tremec tranny, vapor blue paint job, and revised front end. I'm keeping my Bullitt - you can have the Dark Horse!
I'm a huge Mustang enthusiast . I have been checking out a few other channels that got the Mustang Dark Horse and views are just not there. Nothing against the guys they have amazing reviews . I just think the Dark Horse is not that big of a deal, we as Mustang owners expected so much more out of Ford. If you just go back a few years and see how popular reviews were for the Shelby GT500 Now that was a total redesign and quite the impressive Mustang, so was Shelby GT350 and MACH 1, if we are talking about specialty Mustangs . Ford has that ECU on lock down and I don't see in the future ford is going to make it any easier to tune or modify Mustang/Vehicles that might change, but that depends on the EPA. I do think the Mustang Cobra variant will be the Mustang to get. Great video though 👍
do you think they will make the 2024-2025 gt500 with this platform? I am debating on getting a 2022 gt500 but I don't want to get it just to have the newer one come out.
Unfortunately, this conversation, which takes place in NYC traffic and at standstills in front of dozens of red lights, does not even begin to live up to the expectations raised by the title "Come ride with me...". A less suitable route could certainly not have been found.
Looks awesome! Except for the dash which looks like it came out of a EV crossover, and the rear wing that looks like it was sourced from Subaru . Also needs a bigger steering wheel 😄
I really like this Ford engineer. Super chill for sure. Although, I have a 21’ GT PP1 manual and it does indeed have LC. It doesn’t work all that well but manuals do have it pre S650. Either way, this new Stang is BAD ASS
Long screen sucks I think, looks like a train. So i will continue my shopping for the S550 instead. If buying a manual transmission V8 car for driving experience, then it should be simple, without much of screen n software, I think I like current model better, the 401A pack on S550 is more than enough.
Great video and car. I'll never understand the obsession with EV's. It's like wanting a microwaved steak instead of a grilled one. There's nothing better than a V8 MT vehicle.
Dont like the Instrument display cluster. Bet it will have all kinds of fingerprints over time. Too flat. Looks more like a Camaro with a bit of challenger that just doesn't sit right with me Sound and power are awesome.
I considered to change my S550 Bullitt for the S650 when available here in Europe, I love the engine tweaks (and finally a proper gearbox), but that dashboard is killing my dreams. Those screens seems to be just glued there like aftermarket, it's far from a fully integrated instruments as we used to have. Apparently we also lost the climate controls, it's a pain to find for the right icon on a screen, when you could just sense the control with your hand maintaining your eyes on the road. I never seen one live, I hope that sitting in it will change my perspective, otherwise the S550 will likely to be my last Mustang. :/
Dude, suck it up and just deal with the screens. Buying the old one will be a mistake, if not for depreciation, then certainly for performance. The functionality of that screen is awesome. Now give your head a shake and change your order over. STAT.

Nice to see Ford following suit with other manufacturers by removing physical controls for basic functions like AC and radio and placing them on an IMax screen so drivers have reason to take their eyes off the road more frequently than ever. At least they included some retina-frying triple LED headlights for when the driver's night vision is impaired from two back-lit desktop monitors aimed right at their face. All I can think about is how nice those screens will be when the sun hits them right and makes them totally useless, happens on the tiny screen in my S550 all the time. As far as vehicles, Mustangs are all I've ever owned but this gen is going to be a pass for me. I guess this is the point in my life where I transitioned to grumpy old man who hates everything new.
One change they should consider is to have the screen recessed into the dashboard instead of sticking out. It looks like someone placed a long tablet on the dash.

4:44 Feels good in the hand. Ladies, you know the procedures.
My 2017 Shelby GT350 makes 526HP and is Naturally aspirated
I was thinking the same thing.
Yeah but the dark horse doesn't have the flat plane crank .
Would've been a phenomenal addition to the Mustang lineup if 1) the infotainment wasn't a tacked-on tablet style screen, 2) if the UI didn't integrate the climate controls into the touchscreen (they should have been physical buttons), and 3) the headlights maintained the traditional "single-eye" appearance of past Mustang.
Ya they really missed the mark…🙄🙄
Lol, I don’t know if this is just cope and seethe, or integrating new mustangs is hard for you with each new mustang generation. I get it, that’s your opinion, but honestly that seems pretty petty all things considered. I only call it petty because you are denying it’s even worthy of the lineup because of your curiously particular nitpicks. Just wow.
@@TheLumberJacked My opinions might be "curiously particular nitpicks"...but at least they aren't unironically ironic 🤷♂
@@RaamZ07 valid point. 🤔
Hey TFL crew! Just fyi for future reference when you want to show the exhaust dont put the mic so close to the exhaust when you rev it. It really becomes distorted. I know it cant be perfect but it will be a more accurate sound representation. Love the videos guys
I’m digging the whole car and I think absolutely gorgeous! But turned off by the giant iPod on the dashboard!! To me a car like that should had a more dynamic more stylish integrated infotainment system!
Cool stuff, not a fan of the dash or the rear exterior but everything else is killer. Hopefully I’ll see one irl
Really? I see a lot of comments of people not being a fan of the dash. I kinda like it, but I also love a lot of tech. Is it that you're worried about it breaking or just don't like the style?
@@willp.9731 It's a slab of glass stuck onto a dashboard with zero integration. 2:40 - Look at the right side just hanging over the edge. There isn't a place where the dashboard trim *meets* the display. You shouldn't be able to "feel around" behind the instrumentation in any vehicle. You can't even appreciate the dash trim because the display overwhelms it.
I absolutely love technology. And because of that, I know that there is a right and wrong way to implement it. This is a demonstration of laziness.
@@willp.9731 - maybe is that "Hyundai look" of the dash that the enthusiasts loathe.
The dash look weird and cool at the same time. I love the futuristic dash , I'm sure it will grow on people. Having said that, I'll keep my C7 Supercharged Corvette. 😊
I genuinely hate it. Why have a big screen obtruding the dash like that? What was the point of keeping the dash gap?
What's worse is that warning that was coming up saying some functions have been disabled, for YOUR safety. Be a cold day in hell when i let the car tell me what i can and can't do with it.
Yeah the driving block on modern cars is mad annoying.
@@steveearnshaw720They did say these were prototypes they just testing them to get ready for '24
I like the dash but not hiw it's laid out. They should have inlayed it down into a bezel. It looks to much like a huge screen just bolted to the pad. Especially with the fox body gauges. Been nice to have the instrument cluster and infotainment screens separated.
I'm definitely gonna buy that shift knob for my 2019 GT
Great shift knob!
So I didn't like it when I first saw it, but now with this inperson ride along I love it.
Nice new mustang my mother in law still have her 65 mustang with 3 speed manual with 289
I have launch control on my 2019 Bullitt, I'm not sure why an engineer would say that this is the 1st time it's available in a manual transmission
I know right I have it on my 2017pp
It looks awesome but 70k 😒 I’d like test drive it for sure though
Probably significantly more than 70k with markup. Around here mach 1s have a 7k+ markup and still sell quickly
@@ccharlot oh yea if you custom order it you can get it from a lot ford dealers that honor msrp
@@ccharlot $5k-20k markup here lol. Went with $5k and got it done
Smart to test drive a 2024 GT then the Darkhorse to see if worth 50%+ extra to you.
@@johnmcmullen456 agreed
I love the angles on those taillights!
What a beauty. Can’t wait to grab mine
Unfortunately, this conversation, which takes place in NYC traffic and at standstills in front of dozens of red lights, does not even begin to live up to the expectations raised by the title "Come ride with me...".
A less suitable route could certainly not have been found.
Dark homie driving the dark horse
And he helped to engineer it!
@@markmansel9899 yeah I can hear too
It's a nice car, sounds great, and I'm sure it's fast. But for $70k nicely equipped you'd have to be an idiot to buy one.
How many speed cameras did he drive past?
We won't talk about that... :)
Ford Dark Horse!!!
Looks awesome! Except for the dash which looks like it came out of a EV crossover, and the rear wing that looks like it was sourced from Subaru . Also needs a bigger
steering wheel 😄
I believe they went with the smaller flat bottom steering wheel to make getting in and out of the car easier.
The mach 1 has a bigger wheel and everyone wanted a flat bottom like the gt350/500 has. Finding the middle ground
*That side profile looks a lot like a CAMARO...*
Awesome! I'd for sure consider this being in the stable. Good Ford!
Man that infotainment system looks weird and odd there lol idk how i feel about it
Voodoo engine never forgotten 😢
They need to bring it back.
@@wyattcheramie004 never ever they will
I REALLY want one of these!!
This was a very interesting video. Just a ride-along with one of the engineers.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really like this Ford engineer. Super chill for sure. Although, I have a 21’ GT PP1 manual and it does indeed have LC. It doesn’t work all that well but manuals do have it pre S650. Either way, this new Stang is BAD ASS
As a Corvette guy, I have a lot of respect for the Mustang. Well done Ford. Will the Mustang go mid-engine???? Sorry, screw the Mustang-E.
Long screen sucks I think, looks like a train. So i will continue my shopping for the S550 instead. If buying a manual transmission V8 car for driving experience, then it should be simple, without much of screen n software, I think I like current model better, the 401A pack on S550 is more than enough.
Nice car, looks like more of a mild refresh, but I am not a fan of the square digital dash. Just no personality.
Great review as always Andre!
I am from Saudi Arabia and I am eagerly waiting for the black horse❤️🔥
At 6:23 he says first time having a naturally aspirated mustang with 500hp. What about the gt350? 🤔
I think he meant a 5.0 , the voodoo engine i think is 5.2
Great video and car.
Are the exhaust tips different sizes compared To The GT???
You know I have had a metal shift knob, better have your oven mitt ready for summer
They hollowed it out for that very reason. They say it’ll remain cool (we’ll see in South FL)
STAT.
@@TheLumberJacked I'm not going to buy the old one, I already own a Bullitt... and I have no more motivation to change it for a new one after have seen that ugly dashboard.
@@arctic_ita alright….fine. If you already have it. It’s not like you are suffering with that beauty anyway. 😊
@@TheLumberJacked The warranty on mine will expire next year and when the S650 was shown (exterior) I liked it, I also liked the intake improvement, finally a reliable (manual) gearbox, other minor improvements and probably the last "real" V8 we could ever buy here in Europe... so I decided I wanted a dark horse... then they shown the interiors and my dreams got broken. :) In my (new) dreams, maybe one day, they could launch a "stripped" version without those tesla-like gadgets and it'll be mine... in my dreams.
I would wait for a few years or the re-design and for all issues to be some what fixed before I purchase one
The risk would be Ford making Mustangs EVs while waiting. Though, I do agree with avoiding the first year of production.
Say no more, I'm sold 😍😍
👏 💯 A-freakin-men.
Your not alone here. The the dash was designed by a gamer incel.
@@Platos-Den If I remember correctly at the release they showed the lead designer (preparing to get comment deleted) was a woman....
@@Platos-Den lol If this was designed by gamer, it would probably be fire instead of a dumpster fire.
@@HerrPoopschitz I knew it!!!!!! I Didn't want to sound sexist but this is reality folks. This is woke on steroids.
Great video. Keep up the good work!
One change they should consider is to have the screen recessed into the dashboard instead of sticking out. It looks like someone placed a long tablet on the dash.
I was gonna preorder one but my dealer told me there was a mandatory markup of 15k. That kinda killed it for me.
What makes the mark-up 'mandatory'?
Only 15k? Lowest I've heard so far.
@PorscheDuesnburg California perhaps 🤦♂️
There is no mandatory mark up, just sleazy dealers
@ it was mandatory at least at the dealers near me because they expect to get maybe one per year if that.
“First 500hp naturally aspirated v8 in any mustang ever” uhhh… gt350? Lol
He probably meant 5.0.
To me its the perfect amount of electrical,as in screens, rev match, elec comfort gizmos BUT still with a manual 6spd,and healthy 5.0 pushin some screamin bald eagles!!!
The Stang guy already beat you on the Dark horse ride🚙💨💨
Nothing like the Coyote V8, I’ve heard few engines that sound better, cars like this should go the way the horse, not gone but enjoyed only by enthusiasts.
In the beginning of the video on the close-up of exhaust tip when revving the motor condensation shoots out of only one of the tips. Is the other fake?
Ford knocked it out the park.👍
