    Great review, Tommy, as always! I've always been a Mustang fan, nothing sounds like that 5.0 Coyote V8, what a great engine. But 30 MPG with 486 HP? WOW!

    I bought a base GT grabber blue in 2023 for $40k. It was just as the 2024 was coming out, and I hated the interior screens and some of the exterior design, so I got one of the last new S550s. It’s an awesome car, does what I want it to do, which is be a fast, comfortable cruiser.

      I have had my DH Premium since April and LOVE the screens. I've owned a 96 GT and an 03 Cobra Terminator. I really enjoy being able to change the gauge clusters and they recently updated it with the 99-01 SVT Cobra cluster [which also happens to be the 03-04 cluster] and love it. The second screen provides PLENTY of visual landscape to finally make everything usable instead of a calculator screen.

    Twice in the video you recommend skipping the "big brakes" yet at 12:13, in a non-controlled test admittedly, it looks like the Dark Horse stopped a good 25-40 feet shorter than your base GT w/o the performance brakes. That is not insignificant, and even at more normal speeds a few feet or inches could make the difference in avoiding a collision.
    The performance brakes are a separate option and seem like a valid choice by way of safety to consider.
    (Acknowledging that quicker braking may increase the risk of the guy behind you not reacting fast enough...can't have everything.) 😀

    • @ahtoomians
      @ahtoomians 4 місяці тому +3

      That would be more due to tires. The big brakes would let you keep braking hard without fading as bad but that little brake test they did was mostly due to summer tires on the other car.

    Hey TFL, I wish you kept this Mustang for at least a year or 12,000 miles, just to see if any other issues come up, especially being a new design. I know a lot of the chassis is carry over, but still like to see how it does over a longer period of time. Sorry to see it go, I am Happy Ford still has a great V8 Mustang. It will be a sad day when the Mustang becomes electric or a four cylinder hybrid. Also, Great job to Ford for offering a powerful V8 that can get 30 miles per gallon on a trip, that ten speed really seems to finally be tuned in with the engine well.

      I was thinking the same thing, that a "long term test" is probably 10-12k miles and/or 12-18 months of use. Ashame. I am sure there is a cost/benefit calc involved for the UA-cam auto channels i.e. the review value of keeping the car around longer versus flipping the asset before it depreciates too much.

You just can't beat the coyote V8 sound! I'll live with the heavier car knowing it sounds so good and with forced induction it is miles above my turbo inline 4. You are wrong about the performance pack, though. You need that if you are actually going to push the car. It is one thing to do a quick pull in a straight line, it is quite another to actually drive the car near it's limit.

    The exterior of this generation of Mustang is by far the worst in Mustang’s history.
    This car should have been Mustang’s high water mark. It is likely to be the very last gasoline-powered Mustang, the last Mustang with an available manual transmission, truly the end of an era and Ford phoned its design in.
    I will never forgive them for that. I’ve loved Mustangs since I was a kid, have owned a 65 coupe with a 289, a 68 coupe with a 289 and an 88 X-Florida Highway Patrol LX 5.0 SSP and I have absolutely 0 interest in owning the current Mustang.

    Its so sad seeing all these people in the comments saying the auto is better because its faster. The death of the drivers car must be studied. Nobody lives on track or street races their car everyday, so being the fastest does not matter. Only if you care about being able to say your 0-60 time is this. Its about the driving experience, the base gt auto feels so soulless. Its about the driving experience, how connected you are to the vehicle.

Let's buy the cheapest V8 mustang we can find and then complain about the interior because we didn't want to pay for the premium package. Then complain about the 10 speed auto after beating everything else on the road that has a manual. Thanks for the laughs, truly entertaining. And no, I'm not going to buy a car from the dealership that paid you to post this commercial.
