THE MAGICAL MORAY RUINS OF PERU 🇵🇪 WE HAVE IT ALL TO OURSELVES

- The Moray Ruins of Peru is one of the most fascinating places in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Moray is close to Urubamba, the perfect day trip, and one of the best places to visit from the town of Maras (also visit the Maras Salt Mines). The Moray ruins may have acted as an Inca science experiment. the rings at Moray are relatively simple but may have actually been an ingenious series of testbeds. The terraces at Moray contain soil that must have been imported from other parts of the region. The temperature at the top of the pits varies from the bottom by as much as 15 degrees, creating a series of micro-climates. We are two travelers who have been in Peru for many, many months, and the Moray ruins are one of our favorite experiences. Come to The Sacred Valley, stay in Urubamba or Maras, and visit Moray. This is the Peru Travel Vlog at Moray.

Everybody is waiting for Alex to propose Lindsey at Machupichu!! Don't disappoint us Alex !
Yes and they should have their wedding there I think in the church in Mara ?
I'm sitting in my office "working" while watching another great video. Your quick visits to each place is well worth it for your audience as we get to glimpse amazing spots most of us will never see. However, your coats done up tight just made my already hot day (about 30+ C) much hotter.
Thanks as always Garth, for watching instead of working haha
Another cool video! Whenever I hear the word "potato" I think about Mr Potato Head. How is he doing these days?
Stay safe and keep showing us Perú!
He’s doing soooo well in his new home. They update us frequently and we stay in close contact.
@@lindseyfw2903 glad to hear that!! 🤗🤗
If only these places could talk, A nice history lesson. Wow.
Oh how I wish!
🙏🏻
Hello guys!! Another thing that surprised me is that where you are walking, in an aerial photo it represents the male reproductive system, look on UA-cam and you will see it. I was there in January and the guide told us that the Ministry of Culture is working to discover the female reproductive system that is in front. They made a laboratory in the form of a reproductive system. They say it represented fertility. It is impressive to be there, and you do not know how proud I am to see the work of our ancestors.
si puedes coméntaselo en inglés, no hablan español muy bien.
@@dafrikelita4109 voy a ver si alguien lo traduce, saludos
WOW !!very beautiful place !!
It’s gorgeous!
This place is amazing, you guys are so lucky to see so many interesting places. Blessings ♥️
Actually, down in the center, temperature is higher than the surface's .... each terrace represents a 1000meters difference from the next one, the place was used as a laboratory, one theory says those terraces were used to calculate the total production in Tahuantinsuyo in differents times of the year(that was the name of the country before spanish conquers arrived) , other theory says the place was used to grow coca plants and try to make possible its growth in the andes (coca is produced only in the jungle)...
I heard the laboratory theory when I was there 🙋🏿♀️🌈
These ruins look like an ancient stadium! This is so breathtaking even through film. Safe travels Alex and Lindsey!
Thank you! It was pretty great.
The exact function of the terraced circular depressions still remains a mystery. Some people believe that the ruins were used as laboratories to experiment on different crops at varying temperatures. Others say they serve as agricultural structures to grow a different breed of corn in the cold climate of the region. Whatever the purpose is, there is no denying the fact that this archaeological site is a piece of ancient engineering wonder one should see in their lifetime.
My beautiful country ❤️
🇵🇪
Alex and Lindsey, you have seen both Sacsayhuaman and Moray without massive crowds. What unique and incredible experiences those are!!! Thanks for taking us along!!!
It’s been amazing!
Y el anillo pa cuando😆😆....You should propose La belle Lindsay there, Alex.😉 Thank you for showing to the world the beautiful, awesome, wonderful Peru! To both of you.
Bein in Moray by yourselves is a bonus!
It was amazing
Moray the platforms, built on retaining walls filled with fertile soil and watered by complex irrigation systems, allowed cultivating more than 250 plant species. These platforms served as an Inca agricultural laboratory to experiment with their crops. Moray contains history and scenic beauty.
Still watching, still very interesting!!
You’ve not disappointed me in any of your videos. I’m continually mesmerized by all the history and mystery of these different sites in and around the Sacred Valley. I find my own wonder and curiosity reflected in your unpretentious coverage. Keep it up - I’m your Number One Fan.
✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻 thanks so much 🙏🏻
Go to "Chinchero" it's an arqueological site near to Moray about 30 min from Urubamba , there are a lot of "andenes" and interesting churchs in this place. Also there is a village close to it where you can find restaurants then if you want you could go to the HUAYPO lake which is 15 mins by car from Chinchero.
Take care and use your mask face and sunscreen because the sun is hard these days.
What an opportunity! Can't wait to be able to come back to Peru to see my family and explore all its beauty. Just caught up on all your videos! Love your excitement and way of exploring. All the best in all your traveling adventures together. Greetings from 🇨🇦.
Aww thank you so much for watching all of them. I hope it can help give you some ideas when you come back 😊❤️🇵🇪
Recently following you guys and I liked what you showed us. I loved my country.
It was so awesome to see Moray Ruins. The echos, the terrace, etc. I'm not sure if it should be colder or warmer in the centre of the ruin. However, I did see that Alex dressed up warmer than Lindsey!🤣 Alex got himself all covered up from head to toe. His neck was also covered by the collar of the jacket and he was wearing gloves too. Lindsey only wore a poncho, well!😅
That's because Lindsay is from the coldest state of de US (MN)
Real amaZing!!! Peru is indeed packed with history of civilization. What makes more wonderful of their ingenuity , on their survival , it seems they considered not only present time but future generation to come , ecological balance. And this present generation has so much respect of their heritage thru preservation of it. I love that church!!!
Travelbum having stuck in Peru is not a waste, its a real journey for you & us subscribers , on its true sense. MUCHOS GRACIAS!!!!!
✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I'm glad you tested the acoustics. It kind of reminded me of the ball court at Chichen-Itza. It's a long corridor with temple of the end. They theorize, due to the acoustics, a priest could speak at one end, yet still be heard at the other. Your Moray video made me wonder if they used it for their religious ceremonies too. Thanks for the new video Alex and Lindsey! Well done.
You guys are soooo lucky! In normal times, Moray is filled with lots of tourists, and being able to go all the way down it's not that easy. Great video!
The Moray Ruins are totally incredible, i did expect for each one to be so high..wow.
It really surprised me too!
We didn’t expect it either ✊🏻
Hermosos sus videos sigan gozando de mi Hermoso país .
Incroyable!!👀
Thanks for taking us along! it was actually kinda emotional how cool that is 🦋 & how you are there all alone 🥔.
Beautiful memento with the feather🦜
... years ago, my friend who is a professor of archeology in Lima , opened my eyes when she explained to me .. that every pre Inca and Inca culture, have the unique way to express the connection with the Mother Earth or Pachamama and their life through the art, colors, iconography, music, food , architecture , textile, religion and habits ... so now .. You two have the wonderful opportunity to have similar experiences like thousands of years and see those amazing places of Peru ,.. without crowds, noises and tourists .. like the Pre Incas travelers saw and lived on some way... so thanks 🙏 because we can see those moments and experiences through your eyes and videos ... 😊😊💕
It definitely allows us to connect with nature and with these sacred places in a way we normally wouldn’t with tons of people
Amazing!!!! You guys are a beautiful smart couple 👏👏👏🥰🥰😊😊😍🇵🇪🇵🇪
Moray was amazing. When I went last September, no one was allowed to walk on the actual terraces. He was definitely yelling at y’all for that but so cool you got to show us them up close and personal. Definitely check out Ollantaytambo. Probably my favorite place that we visited other than MP obviously. The town had plenty of food options, pretty impressive ruins to explore and the people there were just lovely. Very kind and welcoming. You two are making me want to plan a return trip to Peru as soon as its safe to do so. Keep exploring and thanks for taking us along.
Oh wow, we had no idea that no one could go down onto them. We feel very fortunate. The guy wasn’t too upset. We are in ollanta now and it’s the best city in Peru I think. So amazing!
Lindsey Fw Enjoy! I fell in love with that town. I think it’s overlooked by many tourists. Can’t wait to see your videos on it.
Thank you for a great video, we really love to see Peru now that we cant make it there 😔
Bendiciones muchas..cuidense mucho..
Thanks guys. Today's vidéo was awesome.
Thank you for your comment ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
Beautiful.
Perú always amazes.
Cold air sinks. Lindsey's right. Uh oh you got the whistle🛂. 10:24 Beautiful Macaw feather.🦜
So interesting 🧐 video Moray in Cusco😍!!! the roads are very difficult, a lot of ravines and uneven in the mountains, Sierra 🏔 of Peru 🇵🇪!!! 🤗🤗😍😍🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hermoso 💕❣️😍🌞🌞🌞😍 bello saludos chicos el Perú es maravilloso gran cultura Inca
Thank you guys
Alex, Lendsy you got the power because you was in the midol of muray.
So amazing!
✊🏻🙏🏻
Helloooo... beautiful! Interesting video..muchas gracias 😃 💯
This is amazing!
Thank you!!
Well since heat rises I think it would be colder at the bottom...I'm with Lindsey
I’m with Alex on this from my own experience. The top is more exposed to the biting winds of the high-altitude plateau and the deeper you go into the ruins, the more it is protected from the elements. Heartier crops at the top and progressively more delicate ones towards the bottom.
There’s a lot more to it than heat rises. Like the way of the earth from sea level to the high mountains, it gets colder as you go up. I think that’s what the Inca had in mind with this
@@TheTravelbum hmm...that makes sense...As you can see I'm easily swayed 😆
Peru es la best culture in the World
Another awesome video guys😀👍.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 thank you
This was F______ Great. Loved it
Thanks Danny!!
Haha awesome. Thanks DG
Amazing!!! Btw we don't pump our own gas here in NJ either.Thank goodness! 😛👍🏼😘❤️❤️
Yeah think I'm going have agree with Lindsay on it being cold down there 😂👍🏾
It was freezing!
Very cool. I’m glad you guys are getting the opportunity to get out and do some exploring.
Thanks! It’s felt good to finally see some things we had been excited for
Impresionante el Perú
Very very very good video guys!!! I'm impressed
Thank you so much!
Really good video !!! After watching it i went to Moray and as u said there are no words to describe it ... bigger than the photos show .... your description was really cool and you are a really wonderful couple in this work like youtuber !!! Congratulations my friends ... saludos desde Pucallpa ... Perú's jungle !!! 😁
Wow! Stunning view from the top. Alex adoring the curls.
His curls are the best!!
Thank you! More coming haha ✊🏻
Hello Alex and Lindsey, it is really envious, I have visited Cuzco and I really would have liked to visit it as you are doing, I have subscribed to your channel and I am watching the commercials to support you in something and Libdsey, with great respect, you are a beautiful woman, a hug for both of you, from Lima in the Barranco district.
Ah thanks a lot for watching and supporting the channel ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
I think Mr. Potatohead could hear the echo of his name being called from Moray. He's probably wagging his tail right now!
Probably, oh how we miss him!
@@lindseyfw2903 We never had the chance to pet him or rub his belly but we vicariously miss him too! You were good parents to that special dog!
Aw, happy but sad thought
Beutiful
You are so fortunate to been able to explore the terraces. We were only allowed to view from the Mirador at the top and there were so many tour buses we couldn't remember which one was ours. The echo is one of the great mysteries. That's were I found the same seashells you found at the salt flats. Can't wait until you get to Ollantay!
Amazing! thank you very much, it's incredible to be there! thank you Alex and Lindsay.
Mágico 👍
Hooo totalmente fabulosooo
Moray😍
Beautiful report, have a good trip, I love you guys.
Thank you 😊 ❤️
Guys, superb video maras, cuzco at its best speacilly going down those inca steps it is a travelers dream come true 😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It’s amazing!!
Awesome!! ❤️your videos so much, your are the best travelers in UA-cam for me.
Aww thanks very much Monica!
It's quite unbelievable these holes in the middle of nowhere, I first thought it may be some kind of hole made by alien motherships, but then you said it was created by Inka people , very remarkable indeed, I cant stop to wonder all the amazings things Inkas builded back the in the days. Keep having fun there , and I'd suggest you guys heading to Quillabamba which has an Amazon forest vibe.
You both are really doing good videos. Cool!
Magnifique ❤❤❤ 🇵🇪🇨🇵
🇵🇪❤️
I wonder if the Moray Ruins more recently have been used for sacred ceremonies. That beautiful blue feather you picked up at the center looks like the kind of object from the natural environment that could have been used in a ceremonial way. Since that’s a real possibility, I hope you left it where you found it. 😊
Great video! Stunning views. ❤it.
Thank you!
Hi; Nice video of Amazing places of Peru, guys.......Lindsey beautiful as always . Those places should be crowded of tourists, the lock-down gave you the exclusivity !! lucky guys .
Thank you. Aww yes we feel so fortunate to have seen it in that way.
good trip . I didnt know Moray but it looks so interesting to visit .
Well worth a visit!
@@lindseyfw2903 yeah Dear Lindsey . I love your videos and I like so much your "poncho " Peruvian clothes .
One of the most interesting places we’ve been in Peru
@@TheTravelbum you must be right you have a lot to know in Peru . I hope you can go to Machu picchu soon.
Awesome video!!. Looking forward to seeing you play sapo!! I have great memories of watching my family play and since it is kid friendly everyone enjoyed it as a family💕
Como todos sus vídeos este es muy bueno solo ustedes hacen turismo el estado debe estar agradecidos con ustedes. Cusco es un lugar muy interesante y su gente es muy amable y hospitalaria
... Other impresive site is ... Cuzco -curahuasi .... The way is very exiting ... Netx HUMANTAY LAKE .... IM FROM Cuzco but i live in Arequipa .. Greetings guys... 👍 only a coment.. These is not a ruins ... Becose .. Is not destroyed ..
A tour guide told me that each floor is to adapt seeds that were not native to the place, that is, each floor was to condition the seeds.
Hey Alex.... I think the bottom of the maras moray circular terraces would actually warm up during the day because it would capture alot of the sun.... And definately I believe there was more than just growing crops that they did there.....!! Probably alot of ceremonies... And pago a la tierra rituals....
That feather is beautiful! Wonder how it ended up there?...Nice to know the historical description of the ruins. I hope you can come back to the Church when they open to the public to show us the inside. Alex has new shoes? Progressive! (hahaha I have that word stuck in my brain) Thank you!
Is that a Harold Baldr thing? Haha love it
@@TheTravelbum I have my heart split in 3 You, LIndsay and Harald :D
I got my Mr. Potato mug that I ordered!! I'll be thinking about you guys every morning when I have my coffee or tea.
Great video. I like it a lot... Saludos.
Muchas gracias 😊
The New indiana Jones good luck guys
Hi guys, great videos. Moray like most Inca ruins have been or needed restoration work. It always amazes me how " today's Peruvians" are able to restore them. What skills, eh? Cheers .
Very true, they still look very good and intact
Now in Peru is winter time, so everything is dry, but in spring and summer ( September to April ) the view will be more pretty green... thank you Linsey and Alex to show the beauty of my country... I cant wait to see the next video...
Yes we saw photos of when it’s very green and it looks much better.
I am not taking sides. It is cooler at the bottom. The wind might have made a difference that day. Thanks for the videos and stay safe!
Honestly it might vary depending on the time of day. We tried to research it but couldn’t find anything definitive.
That is a blue and yellow macaw feather
Wow very cool, we weren’t sure what kind it was
Alex is too honest! 😀😀😀 haha but i think she was right because of the shadow blocking the sunlights. 👍👍👍
That’s what I was thinking too
My husband and I enjoyed the video !!! Thank you for showing us a very unique place in Moray/Urubamba-Peru. Hopefully someday we can see for ourselves!!!
Thanks rocio! Glad you enjoyed it. I hope you can see it one day too!
Like your boots - literally you can adventure travel and dine in a fine restaurant.
Thank you, we searched for hours trying to find the perfect shoes that we could wear for any occasion
Ask if the Balcón del Diablo is close to where you are.
Not only potatoes. Corn too. I think Perú has 100´s of different varieties.
When I Harleyed through Oregon, they wouldn’t touch a motorcycle. The rider fills it up BUT they have to operate the Pump.
I guess people do not usually go down to the center, because, they can damage it. It is super expensive to repair. You walk down so carefully.. Blessed experience for you,
That totally makes sense, we didn’t even realize that.
Wow is beautiful! Did you guys get the drone fixed ? Take care.
All your videos are great and I really enjoyed them a lot, Peru has beautiful sites and hopefully you guys stay long enough to see much more. 👏👏👏👏❤️🇵🇪
Thank you for your comment ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
I like your videos Alex an Lindsey 🤗🤗🤗😍😍🙏🙏🙏
Thank you very much!
Very interesting video. Thanks for sharing
I LOVE IT!
Thank you!
I SEND ALL MY CONTACTS FOR THEY CAN SEE YOU GUYS.
Hi Travelbum. I visited Moray arqueological place and salinas of Maras but I didnt walk on Maras town or Moray town nor met tiobamba church. Thanks, well done. Another interisting places around Urubamba could be Chicon, Piscigranja ( fish farm) Pumahuanca and Yucay town. Nice experience.
Wow you guys are young. Back in the day up to the 1970’s Gas was pumped by Servicemen who would also check your oil and clean your windshield. You could tip a nickel or dime, if wealthy a quarter. 😂
Simply stunning, when on this earth the border will open? I miss my country so much😞
We have a feeling it’ll be a long time
Interesting sinking air colder but the wind chill factor higher
Yeah that’s why we were torn
Lindsey Fw UFO landing site looks a bit like a UFO top first landing
Hey guys... you were lucky... I think people are not allowed to get into Moray ruins in regular tours... hope you didn't get in troubles... Cheers.
Yes it’s only because we went very early luckily.
