My mom was from Philly (K&A actually (before it was like it is now).. H Street to be exact). She saw him & picked him up. The rest was history. I was getting pretty good with the coins but the cashier saw me counting my handful and just gestured for me to dump them out on the counter where he just quickly counted them out. That was fine I guess but A. I wanted to do it myself and B he took the larger coins and I was trying to get rid of the smaller ones.

    3:55 That's the Starbucks in the building my office is located in, but OMG you literally walked past Philly's best coffee house, Elixr on Walnut Street, oh well, next time 😊
    Anyhow, the sad fact is Covid really hit the restaurant/service industry here in Philly, that's why you see so many places closed or with limited hours. Far too many good small family-owned restaurants have closed, including my favorite Indonesian place. We're recovering slowly, but alas much damage has been done. Hope you enjoyed your time here and yeah the LOVE statue is kind of underwhelming, those views around it are the real attraction though.

    If you're going to spend some time in town, check out the Old City district, and also head over to South Street.

    the Reading terminal market is a must see place to go. it will temp you to try everything but you cant. the different booths sell hot food like gumbo and crab and steak and veggie selections cheeses from local farmers, alcohol, candles made by the local Amish communitys, fruits candy herbs and spices asian favorites sweets and baked bread homemade ice cream ground coffee teas and vitamins. the crowds are serious during lunch and early afternoons so be patient.

    I am visiting NYC for 8 days in February and just looking at things close by and Philadelphia looks within an hour or two of new york on the train is it worth going there to spend a day?

    • @lovesgucci1
      @lovesgucci1 11 місяців тому

      Definitely go for the day. Just watching this video now and seeing that they went to Philly during Covid rules (I remember they re-up restrictions in January 2021, after the New Year.) You obviously won’t be able to see too, too much but Center City will pack your day & make the quick day trip worth it.
      Take NJ Transit, not Amtrak. Try to take an express train to Trenton & then hop on to a Septa to Philly. It’s WAY cheaper and should only take between an hour (express) to 1 1/2 to Trenton (sometimes longer if there’s more stops.) A lot of people from Philly/Philly burbs work in NYC & make the round trip 5 days a week.

    You guys should have tried the cheesesteaks and hoagies! That's what Philly is famous for! And bagels and cream cheese and Tastykake!😋 Also should have went to Elfreth's Alley. That's where Dolly Madison and Betsy Ross lived and the British. Lots of history in my hometown!

    I live in Philly and trust me the summer time is flooded with tourist lol last time I went to the terminal i could barley get around it was so crowded I ended up not getting food from none of the stores in there. Philadelphians aren’t rude just straight forward which can come off as rude lol..my gf moved here from Ohio and thinks everyone is rude 😂 but it’s normal to me. She also thinks the buildings look really old but that’s bc they are ..this is a city that carry a lot of history
