I like the jam chuck and how you turned the top and body together. I'll use that when making my grinders.
It sure made things easier for me! That was actually a step in the instructions that I got with the hardware from CraftSuppliesUSA.
This probably the best video for a pepper mill I've seen from start to finish (pun not intended). ;) Found your videos this morning and already want to do this one (I have the hardware for it) and the circle cutting on a router table without making holes.
Well thank you very much Matthew! I'm glad you found my channel and that I can give you some inspiration!
Love this! I’m definitely going to make a set of these. Thank you.
Happy Christmas from the UK 🎄
Looks great!
Beautiful piece and well made
I need to make one of those style mills. Great video. Just finished one of the pump style mills.
It's a fun project for sure. I learned a lot on this first one and have gotten better since then.
Nicely done!
Thanks Dwight!
Even though i'm not really interested in Lathe stuff, but i watch as i am a subscriber, this is one excellent piece of work that you have made. Well Done.
Barry (ENG)
Thank you very much Barry! I promise I've got some non-lathe stuff coming up!
Great job!
Don't wear gloves while touching what you have in the lathe (metal or wood lathe). Make a long strip of sand paper, run it behind and pinch both ends, lightly! Incase it catches. I learned the glove thing the hard way, do not do it! Awesome job though!
why is wearing gloves a bad idea?
Gorki Treperović if it gets caught in the lathe while it’s turning it’s gonna pull your hand into the machine could do a whole lot of damage to your hand. It’s not a good idea to wear gloves around any machinery really
Great video. Reminds me a lot of Frank Howarth's videos. Especially the ending.
Thanks Joshua. That hadn't even occurred to me, but now that you mention it, it definitely does!
perfect!!! very cool work!!!
Thank you!
Beautiful!
Very nice!
Nice job
Too nice to use! ha. Nice project and video.
Thanks Bruce.
Perfect
Videos like this make me wonder...why does anyone watch TV?
Thanks David! That is quite the compliment!
Haven’t had cable tv for years. Stuff like this is definitely much more entertaining, and beneficial. You have a new Subscriber Mr. Gunflint
*good job*
watching this made me want to grill a steak... just to grind some black pepper on it!
Then it had the desired effect!
This is oddly satisfying
This was so interesting.
amazing!!
Thank you!
Nice vid some measuremenst would be helpful for us newbys
Very cool but i would have given it a little more individuel look
hey my friend i had to get a new tablet a while back so i had to subscribe again just to let u know my friend. chris
Enjoyed your video. Nice job. How did you hold the top to the body so you could finish turning the top. What prevented the top from slipping?
wow !!
Looks great, where's the salt? Just joking, I can't tell you how many pepper mills we have worn out! I hope the mechanism you have holds up.
Thanks! I hope it holds up to. It was the most expensive kit I could find, because I wanted quality... but at $13 that's not saying much. At least the hardware is easy to replace if it wears out.
Quite nice, turned out OK. Haven't you got a skew?
I have one, but I haven't developed the skill to use it it.
Gunflint Designs Brendan Stemp does a good video on using skew chisel. I've just started turning, and it made me pick mine straight up with no fear!
Do you have a link for the hardware you used for this? Looks really cool! This is one of the projects I have wanted to do as soon as I get a lathe
Emeral favor pepper grinder
What did you use to finish the walnut??
I think I just used tung oil on that one.
I sneezed right at this moment: ua-cam.com/video/-bIG29fjxDQ/v-deo.html&t=413 Looks great man! I can tell you're having fun with the new lathe and the awesome lathe stand. Was that a dust collection tube I saw behind the lathe? How well does that work for you?
Thanks! Yep, I found an easy way to make a pretty easy tube attach to my system. It works great for sanding because the lighter particles get pulled away easier. For general chip catching it does okay, better than nothing, but I still end up with a big mess to clean up.
where do you get the grinder metal guts??
I believe that one came from Craft Supplies USA. They are a big wood turning supply store.
ok tks
Where do you get the inner part of grinder Sir ?
I got mine from www.woodturnerscatalog.com/
واو زوينة برافو
what model lathe do you have?
That is the JET 1221 VS. So far I love it! I'm going to get some more experience on it then do a full review.
Where is Gunflint logo? :D
That crossed my mind. I couldn't figure out a good way to put in on a small cylinder though.
I want to make some, but I've seen recommended starting sizes regarding blanks from 12x3x3 to 12x1.5x1.5
Any advice?
nice job, your making dinner then.
Yep, It tasted even better than ever!
Ah! Gloves! I wouldn't wear those.
Wearing gloves while the lathe was turning made me cringe. I really like the project though.
super sketchy..
Me too. That's why a gave a thumbs downs. Weekend craftsmen can be very dangerous.
Ha ha... lame reason
NEVER use gloves while sanding or turning unless you want to loose fingers
I noticed you made this video three years ago. I hope you are not still using a hacksaw when the lathe is running. It made me cringe, if the blade jams you could have a nasty accident. Keep safe.
