What makes this boss so hard is that every Valkyrie has a special attack and Sigrun’s speciality is that she has all 8 of the attacks.
Right, as you fight the valkyries you'll see they'll have mix-and-match abilities, and then you have Sigrun with all of these.

Santa Monica studios and naughty dog are great amazing gaming companies that in today's market create some of the best quality games in recent times, they create art, stories, memories they create games that will be remembered are replayed because of how deep they are. I fell in love with Santa Monica after playing journey, a short indie game, but with a big punch of emotional excitement that is repayable and still find it exiting every time, a true game for connecting players with characters and creating a short but strong bond. I played it and finished it than I would just replay to help players find all the trophies, truly a great experience, I even met amazing players that would make the journey feel more enjoyable.

I like how these fights force you to use all aspects of the game’s combat system. Ranged, runic attacks, evade and parry, breaking block, and Spartan Rage.

This is easily the most challenging boss fight I’ve ever played. A little over a year ago I fell in love with this game. I knew it would be worthy of adding to my small list of 100% Platinum’d games. So I set out to defeat the eight Valkyrie’s, find all the collectibles, ravens, etc. and before I knew it, I had one thing left on the list. SIGRUN, the Valkyrie Queen. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. There were a few battles that really tested me along the way, but nothing could have prepared me for this one. I played for a few hours getting my ass buttered and handed to me on a silver platter. Absolute domination. She was making me look like I had never played the game before. I couldn’t even shave off a quarter of her health bar. I felt like a baby back bitch. (Also, I’d probably rate myself as a slightly above average player) Seconds before throwing my controller through the screen, I stopped and pondered a new approach. Maybe it was my gear? Did I have the best armor and upgrades? The answer was no. Not even close.
So I traveled to Niflheim and wondered around in that God forsaken maze for hours, collecting as many treasures as I could get my greedy little hands on to fund the precious and powerful Deadly Mist armor. I did my research and that armor set clearly took the cake.
Next was Muspelheim, “the realm of fire”. The various challenges kicked my ass, but I could feel myself getting better in combat. Before I knew it, I reached the top of the mountain and was able to clutch a Gold in the Time Trial to get the materials I needed to upgrade my new armor to maximum capacity. I was ready to return to the Council of the Valkyries.
All suited up, and feeling like a hotshot, I dove back into the fight head first and got obliterated. After a few more tries I noticed that I was slowly starting to make progress lowering her health and then all of a sudden I hit a wall. (I was using Spartan Rage, Resurrection Stones, spamming arrows, runic attacks, etc.) After 50+ more tries I got so frustrated that I quit. I figured I’d get around to it later in the week. But I never did... I didn’t touch the game for over a year.
BUT THEN. FEBRUARY 9th, 2021, I REMEMBERED I HAD UNFINISHED BUSINESS. It was time to show this winged she-demon who’s boss. I dusted off my digital download of the game and jumped back in. As expected... my hands just couldn’t keep up. During my first few tries, I got railed before I could shave the tiniest bit of her health down. I did some training in Muspelheim to get a feeling for the controls again which did wonders for me and I was back and ready to fight in no time.
Even though I was playing better and smarter, I was still struggling. There’s just no easy way to put it. This boss fight is so incredibly unpredictable. I truly believe the only way to get better is to keep studying her moves and training your instincts to block and evade. Though many of her moves are simply unblock-able, there are ways to avoid taking the damage. DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HER BLINDING MOVE. OR HER MOVE WHERE SHE FLIES UP AND DROPS ON YOU. that shit will haunt my dreams forever...
After a ton of trial and error, raging and yelling at the screen, and cramped fingers, I finally did it. After so many times I had her on her last breath and losing at the last second, I actually pulled through. There was nothing more satisfying than seeing the platinum achievement pop up. Before all this, I had browsed UA-cam seeking the “easy way out” of this fight and to be honest, there isn’t one. My advice to anyone who’s struggling to beat her: just keep fighting her. Over and over again. Eventually you’ll notice progress and defeat her.
As dramatic as it sounds, it was an amazing moment in my time playing video games. I made a goal, and I stuck to it. I conquered. You better believe I’m buying the second one, the day it releases and I couldn’t be more excited.

Yeah Their dev team have a surprisingly unique take on all enemies. Valks, Dragons, Elves and even the knights. The art direction is superb here.

I like how the hardest boss in the entire series also happens to be one of the kindest and most noble characters in the franchise. Really fits the redemption theme of the Norse GoW era that the enemy that causes you the most grief isn't someone despicable, but a genuinely good person who is simply not in control of their actions, and after you free her she helps you in the next game.
Not gonna lie, I went back to finishing GOW 2018 by trying to defeating Sigrun is that while playing Ragnarok claims that Kratos canonically defeated Sigrun so not wanting to feel like a liar or at least make it true in my own head I have to force myself into putting myself through the utter hell of trying to Defeat the damn Valkyrie Queen, and still haven’t won yet.

Lil tip for those still looking to beat her: When Sigrun jumps up in the air, you have a brief moment to throw your axe at her before she starts attacking. She’ll come crashing down & it’ll allow for you to attack her before she does. You’ll also have less aerial attacks to worry about if you manage to do this successfully everytime she jumps up. Hope this helps
Or just order Atreus to shoot her if you are not confident with your axe throw accuracy (like i was)

Took me 6 tries but that time I did all side missions and all upgrades, but she is still difficult 😭. I just got lucky on my 6th attempt, she just spammed where she cover herself with her wings and slam it with shield to break her guard.

On top of having by far the largest HP bar in the game, she has the special attacks of all the Valkyries and performs them with twice the speed and damage
One mistake could mean instant death, especially on harder difficulties.
The one in Muspelheim could have the same health. But this one is harder ofc

I clapped every single valkrie except for sigrun, she just has too much health and she gets the jump on you every time, vs all the other Valkyrie’s where you get the jump on them
I think the dragon has more health but it’s way easier than this
When using spartan rage, use the wolf summons with atreus so the enemy is stun locked so you can get more hits in

For the Valkyries I avoid it most times. They blind you to where they're at. For some reason doing my playthrough, they are only briefly very briefly stunned. They recover fast and if you can't tell what they're doing due to the stampede of wolves, that can be life or death

Well, i guess it's better not to take any risk. I mean, even when we do that, if she manages to attack with her "shield opening" strike before we can land our double L1 attack, the damage is still deadly to us.....
Or use a runic attack.

An absolute masterpiece. For me, more than a game.. This was a journey of a father and a son... The emotions were what made this a classic. Beautiful gamimg at its finest.

I connected with this game above all else even stuff like lore is presented very nicely, and the one shot camera is the best anyone could ask for I wish more games implement innovative stuff like this
Most emotional part was when we find out when all the giants are gone it was very well done the entire conclusion to the journey and not to mention baldur boss fights pretty much the most epic boss fights in the history of gaming

Defeating GOW's Valkyries is definitely one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. I hope we get an epic fight against Freya on the next game.
Challenges like Valkyries in GoW with combat mechanics presented in the game is excatly what's best about games. This game have a good reason why you're leveling up and upgrading your character. Some games do that so you can become unstoppable and crush everybody, but also to make dealing with terrible combat and NPCs more fun. This one does it so you can basically have a chance to defeat powerful bosses, as you step up near their level. This game is great in every sense of the word.
Imagine how powerful Freya is when Sigrun is THIS powerful

I think a lot of people don't realize that when the Valkyries use their shielded wings, you can break it by double tapping the shield button which leaves an short opening where you can land some heavy hits
Some people dont realize that when the Valkyries use their blind eyes explode in mid-air, you could just push square button to make the Boi shoot them down.
@@danhdo1078 only on regular difficulty. Anything higher and you need to throw the axe, and for the one where she pumps her chest/wings and blinds the whole arena you need to quick turn. No way to stagger that one

i think we can universally agree with that lol, took me 50-70 attempts in a month to beat her, and berserkers now give me PTSD
From 6:59 onward, I can't help but smile, Kratos saying he's in a good mood, even joking, those are things I NEVER thought I'd see. It's especially heartwarming knowing Kratos never really did get some sort of release or closure for the the Olympians did to him, but he was able to give it to the Valkyries.

Well yeah it really has not much to do with the old franchise anymore. It has been pretty much fitted for the political correctness generation, see as they have removed all nudity and toned down on the violence a whole lot. But at least they did it in a good way - other than a lot of games (like Mass Effect after the first part.. horrible).

I don't know if I would apply PC culture to this release....It's just development of his character. There is no reason to have nudity in this game, it would detract from the story. He is going to spread the ashes of his dead wife with his son....you expect him to be fucking sirens/nymphs on the the way?
Same thing with the violence....he is traveling with his son trying to teach him to be better than he was. Kinda hard to do that if you are ripping body parts off defenseless people for the lulz instead of just maybe removing their boots. Plus if you see some of the execution cut-scenes, the game is still pretty fucking violent. I remember my first time executing a werewolf....jesus christ.

@@xdankmemer6615 no way, that’s insane. The every Valkyrie took me at least 5 go’s. Sigrun is the one that took me 5 hours and a lot of stress. I legitimately cried tears of joy once I defeat her. No other game has put me through the stressful and rewarding feelings such as this game

I finally beat Sigrun tonight....I previously put the game down for a month after a brutal afternoon of getting so close then getting air stomped at the last minute.
I wanted to beat her before going to Jotunheim since I feel like I’m right at the end of the story. Can’t wait to finish up this amazing journey in full upgraded Valkyrie gear. Also this is the first time in a long time a games progression has felt like a weight off my shoulders lol.

I’ve been trying to defeat Sigrun for almost 2 weeks… and I finally did it today without using a resurrection stone or initiating rage mode 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I think the fight is incredibly challenging. it took me quite some time on GMGOW mode.. but one thing that improved for me while i was fighting in that mode was the different types of moves you could make.. so for instance.. if you have equipped the Amulet of Kvasir(upgraded to max) , if you time it right.. when she does the wings attack.. If you side step to the side (not a full dodge). the realm shift gets activated. and you can follow up with a runic attack.and a combo of the skill attacks.. Similarly the quick turn helps to avoid her blinding attack. if you cant hit her in that short window. Thirdly if you parry her in time.. when she does the parryable attacks.. swinging her sceptre.. parry and press r1. she gets stunned.. and if you wait for a split moment then you can use the blades attack

Indeed, had to do this before i got the new game. Unfortunately it was gmgow ng+... one of the hardest fight i ever did...hated her at first, but it grew on me. Good boss.

I honestly love God of War since this part because of the improvement in the mechanics and the fights are on a whole other level with the valkyries.
I played this game in the 2nd and the 3rd difficulty. Never defeated Sigrun once. Although got very close.
And she in game+ is mad woman. It is like she gets seizures and the CPU has a bias in that.
I used to dodge her attacks and unleash all 4 runic attacks one after another. I never intended to beat her, just badly insult her. But one fine day (I mean yesterday), I sat and started the fight. Chilled off. I didn't realise that only one-third of her health was left when she landed a Valhalla attack on me. I hadn't taken a single scratch till then.
When I saw I was back at it again, I dived right in (carefully though) and finally... FINALLY!!! defeated her.
My suggestions - use Tyr's Revenge, Glaive Storm, Blast of Hephestus, Hyperion Slam, Kwasir's Amulet (talisman), and valkyrie's armour.
Keep everything full upgraded and be chill. Tention has no effect on the battle. Study her a few times.
If she goes to left, it means she will do a normal wing attack. If she goes to right, she will to a red wing attack. If she directly comes at you, she will do a ground slam attack. But be mindful of the unpredictability and play with your senses on.
If she spins in air for the red wave attack, use arrows. If she's in air for the mist attack, just make a quick flip or hit arrows (I prefer flip. It is faster). Try parrying and countering. Not that difficult. Stay calm and dodge in a rythm at the Valhalla attack.
Do not rush in to take health if at low health. Use spartan rage carefully. Valhalla attack will probably still get you. And dodge back before spartan rage runs out.
You gotta be quick in your reflexes. Try dodging right. Most of Valkyries' attacks are left side striking. Do use arrows and never let the vision get blocked.

Defeating all the valkyries after all the of the times I died while battling or died while literally 1 hit away from killing one, this was one of the most satisfying moments I’ve ever enjoyed in any game I’ve played . I actually couldn’t believe I’d done it and to see it finally happen was one of the most rewarding moments I’ve experienced playing video games. It’s one of the very few games I got platinum on.
Is anyone else a little disappointed that Sigrun, a side mission boss, was harder to beat than Baldur, the main story’s boss?

Baldur fights are more spectacle oriented than skill oriented. Which is fine imo.
I consider this to be the ultimate boss of this game (Like lingering will from Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix or the Velvet Room Attendants from the Persona games), completely optional but you better know what you're doing. And you get a pretty damn good reward and bragging rights too.
X-24 just as Kingdom Hearts 2. Sephiroth was the hardest boss but you could choose just to play the story wothout fighting him

This was highly imperfect and its basically my fight against Sigrun every time. I love seeing new strategies that barely succeed. I mean this as a compliment. Tear that bitches wings off, brother.

Yes its refreshing to see a "normal" looking fight, the basic build no hit win against sigrun is bloody impossible for mortals like us.
I think i fought her around 20-25 times until i won out of nowhere.. I wasnt even trying that much at that attempt 😅

This was one of my favorite challenges in a game I’ve ever beat. I spent 24 hours straight through no sleep after beating the game to level up my armor, obtain and upgrade the “infinity gauntlet”, and beat the first seven Valkyries, and try my luck on the Queen to be destroyed repeatedly, even though I beat most of the Valkyries within my first 5 attempts. After a nap and some food to get me back into the fighting spirit, I spent at least 6 hours fighting this monstrosity, and final after memorizing her attacks and genre fight pattern, I beat her. No boss in any other game has challenged me to that extent, especially when I watched videos and prepared for it.

Every time i watch a valk video every runs away when they guard themselves with their wings just guard break by double tapping L1 you’ll get a free opening
Manny_Absolute never knew that. I always just back stepped, then dodged their follow up attack after their wings opened up. They’re wide open once you dodge as well.
Depends on the timing and positioning too sometimes it misses and not worth doing but it is a great way to get a 4 hit combo off

This shit is ridiculous like give me some cheat codes im tired of roaming around trying to "upgrade" fr some bs
Tips on beating her:
1) Whenever she takes to the air, shoot her with Atreus. Cancels whatever attack she's doing.
2) Parry her! This will allow you four or so free hits after you stagger her, these really add up.
3) when she shields herself with her wings you can break her guard with your shield, allows a free combo like in 2.
4) Be aggressive. When you're attacking her she isn't attacking you.
5) if you fuck up and she's about to wreck you with a strong attack, enter spartan rage then exit it when you create some distance.
6) The bitter squirrel summon (which allows you to get extra health drops) is more useful than an offensive summon which don't do much damage.
7) Only switch to the blades of chaos to use its runics, the axe is a better choice. Oddly enough keeping closer to her is safer than being further away.
I wholeheartedly disagree with 4,5,6,and 7.
4)Be aggressive, but BE SMART.She is extremely unpredictable and will literally stomp you into the ground with little to no warning.
5)Don't waste your rage.Activate it and go for a punch.If she's in the air it will knock her down.
6)Bitter Squirrel is 100% USELESS in this fight!Yes, you can potentially get health stones or rage stones, but she drops health stones anyway and if you go into the fight with full rage and a Berserker's Stone you'll be absolutely fine on rage and won't need more.Use Wrath Of The Wolf or Murder Of Crows to not only give her a tiny bit of damage, but also interrupt her attacks giving you the opportunity to unload on her.
7)The Blades Of Chaos are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the Frost Axe!!!They have a longer reach, you can't throw them and potentially miss, and the axe is extremely slow and cumbersome.Only use it for runic attacks.
Most important one: 8) Prepare to die!! A lot!!! This is one of the most intense and hard boss fights I have ever had the pleasure of doing.

Number 1 does not work on "Give me god of war" so ppl had better get used to throwing when the Valkyrie pulls out her stick!
However, I feel like clipping out on the Blades is hard to get along with! The paused R2 attack on her is really good! But then you need the axe for rule 1, so ppl must try to keep close to her!
The only move I find to be extremely hard to predict is the frontal wing thrust one! Other Valkyries would dash left before it but Sigrun would just very quickly thrust right ahead!
Don't forget to equip amulet of khavsir. Its important
Santa Monica is insane for thinking I'm gonna try this boss fight.
Easily one of the most satisfying gameplay experiences ever. The combat is so tight. Not a single move she makes is cheap, they all have multiple counters, and it's just a matter of learning them for yourself.
I have to applaud the team at Santa Monica Studio. They did an excellent job designing the valkyries. I love challenges and as such, it was a joy to fight and defeat Sigrun. I'm very excited about the continuation of the GOW story.

One of my favorite video-game bosses ever (next to lego Darth Maul and Sword Saint Isshin). This boss took me an hour and a half to two hours to beat, but it was totally worth it.

Just started Sekiro, my first soulslike, and currently at the halfway point. So far no boss has given me as much trouble and grief as Sigrun when i played God of War. Can't wait for the rest of the bosses.

i was lvl8, hardest part of this boss fight was that i had to be patient, which i hate in boss fights.I like to be aggressive so you can imagine it took me quite a decent amount of attempts to finally start doing what you re supposed to

You can slow her down considerably by doing the move where atrius jumps off your back and shoots his arrow. You gotta be careful after not to use certain op attacks because it will bring her back to normal speed

After tons of fighting -I finally defeated the Sigrun. What a peace. Never in my gaming life had fought the toughest character. The moves are un predictable.
Tips - dont lose your shield, and just play with hammer and resurrection stone. Thats it. Lemme know when you guys are stuck and will guide you from there.
For anyone still struggling with this, I just finished it replaying the whole game preparing for Ragnarok, first, when you see that she starts going up, always shoot an arrow with Atreus, it will stop her from blinding you and if it's not a blinding atack, it will just cause some damage.
If you can see that she is sliding to the right, the attack will be unstoppable, if it goes to the left, it will attach with the wings, but be careful because after it, she will just fly up and attack you with the unstoppable attack again.
Try to always dodge right, most of her unstoppable attacks can be dodge to any direction, except when she stabs you with the wings, that can only be dodge to the right, so by always dodging to the right, you can avoid all of her unstoppable attacks.
Finally, always have a resurrection stone and try to not-save the healing stones for later, if you got hit, use the healing stone and any attack from her will easily reduce you 25% of the health.
Why do it feels so wholesome when Kratos says that he is in a good mood

It took me 3 days to beat her, back in 2018; but when I met her again in Ragnarok it was like meeting an old friend after a long time. Let alone she had very attractive manners.😅

I played the game on "Give Me A Balanced Experience" difficulty. The valkyries didn't really give me much of a problem. The harder ones just required learning their moves and how to counter them. I doubt I took more than 45 mins for any of them. Except this bitch Sigrun. It took me 4 hours to finally defeat her. In one of my attempts I died when she was on her final bar of health. She's a real bitch to fight but thank you Santa Monica for making this insanely fun boss

Off & on, it took me almost a couple of weeks at least to beat her on that same difficulty. Without a doubt she's one of the hardest bosses in recent video game history!
Great video! It helped me alot. So jus to share my experience. It took me maybe like a 100 tries.. got so pissed, I left it for. Few days n then I started. So this is wat I had for my equipment:
Leviathan Axe level 5...light attack (wrath of frost ancient)...heavy attack (frost giants frenzy)
Blade of chaos level 5 light attack (rampage of furies)... heavy attack (meteoric storm)
Chest armor (Ivald's armor level 7), Sandri royal gauntlets level 6, Ivaldi's belt 8 and Amulet of Kvasir for Gen play.
So after I watched alot of videos and methods I realized that u need luck and u got to be patient. Once u study her moves it makes it easier to dodge (I rolled alot) . The one move I hated that always caught me was the one where she flew up and let go a big gust of light that can knock ur health down to mayb a quarter! Every video I watched said to hit her out of the air with the axe whenever she flew up bt I am not have a good game player so I was never able to do this so instead I studied her moves.. once I was at a certain distance (I hid mostly in the corner by the ledge and the portal door) I was able to avoid being in the circle of that light damaging attack.
Anyways another thing I did to help was by using that amulet. It was a realm shift amulet and alot of times wen sigrun came after me, if I dodged her successfully, it slowed down time giving me time to attack,counter attacks r run from her range of attack but wat I did was use the wrath of frost ancient instead(cool down was like 42 seconds so I used it mayb abt 4times in the game. It saved me in the last lap wen my health was low n so was hers, she was abt to jump n attack but used it n she was t able to fly n deal damag. That's how I won). I also equipped four of the same enchantments (the one that increases frost damage by 15%). So that enchantment gave her alot of damage. So wen ever the amulet made the realm shift I used that frost an she takes alot of damage. Then once she is stunned I run and do a couple frost giant frenzy. Once I do my 3hits I take out my blade of chaos and use it so I get alot of hits in b4 she jumps off n then it goes back to rolling. I take small hits with my blade of chaos once it's safe to do so n wen she shields up...man I love it cz then I can use frost ancient n she drops alot of health stone. Another enchantment I equip was the one that increased my speed during evasion
Wen I go in spartan rage, I love using the rock throw, it deals some good damage n whenever I am in spartan rage sometimes she uses her wings to spin n deal damage an it interrupts my spartan rage but wat I started doing for that is that I do the jump with R2 and it stuns her briefly n then I start dealing her damage.
So that's it in a nutshell. Hoped it help cz I am no expert at game playing... I jus did what I cud to survive n it worked. Man I hated that b***ch so much I swear it felt good taking her down! Good luck!
